Personal Description:
Confidence is often the stumbling block for learners, and I always encourage all of my students to feel an early sense of achievement. Enabling students to see real progress quickly is essential to the building of self-esteem. I am very approachable and my style of teaching is relaxed and friendly. I love my job and hope that my own enthusiasm inspires my students to excel. Recently I have added French to my repertoire, for absolute beginners. I am sure French will be as popular and exciting as English and Maths have been.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher since 1976. I have taught all age groups, from nursery to A Level. Teaching is a wonderful and totally satisfying vocation. I moved across to tutoring as I felt I could offer all of my experience in this role. Being a teacher is definitely something I was born to do, and I love it.

Tutoring Approach:

Students can learn by either visiting my home or at a distance using Skype. Every student is assessed as an individual and the content of their course tailored to their needs. I test my students periodically to ensure progress is going smoothly; also testing is a good way for students to observe their own progress. We use a variety of materials: books for writing and reading in English, and for revision in Maths; the computer for visual skills and games, listening and speaking is a major part of the programme for EFL students. Children learn in different ways, and I like to offer my students visual, auditory and kinetic tools, we can see which is most comfortable for the individual. The speed of learning is not as important as the confidence of the individual and their inspiration and motivation to progress.

Personal Description:
I am a 28 year old Masters student taking a career break from advertising to study full time in an area I am passionate about - International Development, at SOAS in London. I previously graduated from the University of Manchester in 2010, where I studied French and Spanish as a Joint Honours, and received a 2:1 with a Distinction in spoken Spanish. I have lived and worked full time in Paris and Argentina for 1 year as a part of my degree. I also studied Portuguese for 2 years at University and received a High First at Intermediate level. I love languages and take great pleasure in passing on this enthusiasm to others!

Teaching Experience:

-I was a teacher's assistant for the head of the French department at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys in June 2010. I assisted in teaching Years 7 and Upper Six, and all years in between with class sizes ranging from 6 to 32. I attended 12 hours of training on behavioral management, how to engage pupils and effective teaching prior to this placement which prepared me well.
-I informally taught English as a foreign language to French, Spanish and Portuguese adults on a weekly basis for 2 years whilst studying languages at university, as language exchanges.
-I have tutored Spanish and Chemistry GCSE students through this site with positive results, references available on request.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a professional, friendly tutor with great enthusiasm for learning. Can tutor to boost student's level, or help to prepare for exam deadlines. For GCSEs, A-Levels, University exams or personal deadlines, we can work out a learning plan to fit the student's requirements. Usual areas to work on are reading/writing/listening/speaking skills. I have my own material (films, tv clips, music) to supplement the student's own if needed for languages.

I look forward to hearing from you,
Lucy

Personal Description:
I consider myself to be an enthusiastic, responsible and very organised person who likes to transmit calmly and in a methodical manner. Throughout my life I have attained an open mind towards the needs and desires of the people in my vicinity. My friends are from all walks of life and my frequent travels to places within Europe and further abroad have given me a great insight in different cultures and customs. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people, and thrive on increasing my circle of friends.

Teaching Experience:

In my previous employment at The Macarena Hospital (Seville-Spain), I worked on a voluntary basis for a period of approximately two years, and with a frequency of one day a week, with hospitalised children. In this position I assisted the children with their class work.
Also, I have taught English (basic level) once a week, to my work colleagues in this previous employment (The Macarena Hospital - Seville-Spain). Furthermore, I currently teach Spanish language, both written and conversational, to a work colleague at my current job, supplemented by correcting any completed homework that I give to him at the end of each teaching session. It is with great pleasure that I observe the steady improvement in his knowledge of the fundamentals of the Spanish language and the gained confidence in his verbal expressions.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient person who likes to teach. My experience as a Spanish tutor is perhaps limited, but I have ample experience as a tutor of other subjects in previous employment settings. I always endeavor to find the most suitable and appropriate way to teach the subjects to my students. The student is always of my primary concern, and I make sure to create an atmosphere that allows for critical feedback in order to further improve and enhance the learning experience for both the student and myself. It is of my opinion that a satisfactory experience for the student increases the chance of achieving the intended results.

Personal Description:
I am very passionate about films, theatre, the media industry. I am currently in my second year of a BA Hons in Film Studies at Edge Hill University, living away from home during the week but always available on weekends. I am hardworking, dedicated to my studies and after my undergraduate degree I am hoping to continue my studies with a Masters degree.

I also love to learn languages, currently able to speak 4 fluently (English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi) and also learning Spanish in my free time.

Teaching Experience:

I have a younger sister who is following my path into Film Studies, not knowing a thing before starting her A Level in it she is now predicted an A*. I have held short after school lessons for her and other family members in this particular field and the outcome has always been satisfying.

I have also started my TEFL course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) which helps me gain a qualification in teaching the English language.

Tutoring Approach:

The lessons will be about the student, and not the teacher. Therefore everything will be tailored to areas you wish to improve (spoken communication, written skills, reading, accent, listening)

I have a calm and relaxed approach to tutoring, understanding the problems and weaknesses in people and using those to bring out the best in them. If I can see passion within the student then I will do my personal best to bring out the potential in my students.

Personal Description:
I was born in Xi'an China, where the Terracotta Army were found also a birth place of Chinese history and culture. I graduated from a Chinese University with BA degree in English. I studied Chinese language and culture all the through my school life. I have worked as a tour guide, part-time teacher and a business man in China.

I moved to UK in 2001 and settled here with my family. In order to continue my enthusiasm for teaching Chinese in the UK, I have attended the prepare to teach course in a local collage to learn about the different theory and approach of teaching in the UK, which has helped me greatly.

I like history and culture and I love teaching people Chinese language and culture.

Teaching Experience:

Part time teaching in state school in China
Private tutoring since 2005 in the UK
the main teacher for our local Chinese community Chinese learning class which is held every Saturday in a local council library and it has been running for 3 years.
City and Guilds Certificate of Level 4 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) from Stafford College.

My previous and ongoing clients include Crossbow Education Ltd, Aldi Superstore, Orangetek Ltd, plus many individuals from Burton on Trent, Wolverhampton, Stoke on Trent, Stafford and surrounding areas.

Tutoring Approach:

I understood that a native speaker of one language is not automatically a language tutor, especially when teaching someone with totally different language and culture background.
I understood that younger people and the wiser people would like different approaches of learning.
I understood different learners have different motivation and target of learning, either business or leisure.
I provide one to one teaching or in a group, I use self designed learning materials to make your learning more personal and fun.
Homework will be given each time, as commitment and disciplines are fundamentally important.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching experience in schools

I arrived in the UK in 2009 as a Foreign Language Assistant. I was teaching French in rural primary schools around Suffolk.

After my PGCE, I started working at Thomas Gainsborough School as a French teacher. I have taught primary school students at local primary schools (Wells Hall, Bures Primary School, Nayland Primary School) and pupils from Year 7 to Year 13. I have a very good knowledge of the GCSE and A-level exams.

I have also taught Spanish to students in Year 7, 8 and 9.

Other teaching experience (private tutoring)
-I have taught French to two mature students, for leisure. I was teaching them according to their needs: one student wanted to discuss the news and I was printing articles that we would study. I also helped this student taking care of paper work related to her house in France. My other student only wanted to practise the speaking, therefore we would speak in French for about one hour.

-I have taught French to two secondary school students who purely loved the French language. We would do games, grammar, speaking activities and we even made some crêpes!

Tutoring Approach:

I will tailor my lessons to your needs or the needs of your child. I can teach French to beginners, help with homework, re-explain what wasn't understood in the classroom, study novels or simply have a chat.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic Spanish Tutor with a passion for teaching at all levels and I am committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. As a native Spanish speaker, I am oriented to cultural diversity, world history, high professional standards and good planning.

Teaching Experience:

Currently, I am working part-time at Scarborough Sixth Form College as a Spanish Language Assistant (AS/A2) and Spanish Tutor (Lifelong Learning/Beginners) since 2015. Through this, I have gained valuable experience of working with young people and adults by employing strategies for differentiation in teaching and learning, as well as by adopting a creative and imaginative approach to developing resources.

In addition, during this period of time, I have been building up my experience in Private Spanish Tuition since 2014 by working with students towards basic, intermediate and advanced proficiency in the Spanish Language, including the use of the GCSE framework.

Tutoring Approach:

During lessons and conversation sessions I employ strategies that help to improve students confidence in communication by encouraging them to speak naturally and using body language (facial gestures) as well as tone of voice properly, as this is an important part of the culture in Spanish speaking countries; Also I always motivate them to continue studying languages by remarking the advantages of this for their professional and personal future. I do believe that the key to being successful in this is to reinforce the strengths of students rather than just focus on their weaknesses and the fact that every student deserves attention as well as a fair treatment according to their needs.
