Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher of languages in Essex, I enjoy sharing my passion for languages with my pupils.

Teaching Experience:

I work in a secondary school in Essex. I teach French and Spanish to KS3 and KS4. During my free time I offer private tuition in French and Spanish but I also offer Arabic tuition. I have experience teaching both top sets and bottom sets so whatever your target I will make sure that you achieve not only your target but that you can exceed it as we'll.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is very creative, I endeavour to make my lessons enjoyable and I use a lot interactive games with my students. A language lesson for me has to be engaging rather than just teacher led.

Personal Description:
I am a French native, qualified language teacher working as a Head of Department in a reputable independent school in Moor Park. I have a genuine enthusiasm for languages and for language education as I have had experience of teaching French in various contexts and countries.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught across Key Stages 2, 3, 4, 5 within several secondary schools in London. I also have the opportunity to teach pupils with Special Educational Needs as well as gifted ones and I am therefore aware of their need for differentiation through support and extension activities provided when delivering lessons.
Finally, I teach French to adults and I believe that helping them to learn my language is extremely rewarding, whether they are great beginners or fluent speakers.

Tutoring Approach:

I have specialised in one-to-one support and exam preparation (A-levels, GCSEs, Common Entrance, 13+ etc.) with tailored programmes to meet the individual needs as well as a creative teaching style. In my teaching, I always transfer to my students my own enthusiasm for languages and try to enhance their motivation and enjoyment of language learning. I set my students high standards for work and have received positive feedback from pupils and peers.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified primary school teacher in my 30s. I am friendly, patient and approachable and enjoy helping children with their learning. I am able to provide help with KS1 and KS2 English/Literacy (reading, writing, spelling or a combination of these), and KS1 and KS2 maths. I particularly work with children who find the subject difficult and would like a little extra help and children who have specific special educational needs. My specialist subject is history and am happy to provide support for this subject at primary level also. I do not tutor for school entrance exams.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in education for 13 years, as a class teacher in Years 3 and 5, a museum teacher and currently as a Year 5 and 6 teacher in a village school in the Forest of Dean. I have been home tutoring for six years. The children I have tutored have gained in confidence, improved their skills and moved up groups in school within months.

"We can't thank you enough for all the help and guidance you have given H during the time you have taught him." (Parent)

"Thank you for helping me get better at maths and literacy. Since you have been helping me I have moved up a set to a better class. I am pleased about this, as now I feel more confident." (Year 5 pupil)

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning should be fun, active and relevant to the child's interests and needs. I tailor lessons to the child's abilities, learning styles and interests, and include suitable levels of challenge to help them progress. I believe praise and encouragement is conducive to success and in raising a child's confidence if they are struggling. I am used to working with a wide range of children who have different abilities and interests, and can quickly assess the level they are working at and tailor their learning to suit their needs and interests.

Personal Description:
I graduated in 2012 from Oxford University with my undergraduate degree in Physiological Sciences. I achieved 2:1 after a distinction in my Preliminary exams. Away from work, I'm pretty sporty, competing at rowing, squash, cycling and rugby.

Teaching Experience:

I cannot claim to have many years of teaching experience - but that does mean that I am more familiar with the exam boards. I have tutored two tutees through uktutors.com: the 1st improved from an E to an A in 3 of the 4 units in A level Biology in just 4 weeks of tutoring and the 2nd from D to B in AS Maths!

I am more experienced in tutoring for sport. I coach rowing full-time in London and developing both athletes and other coaches within the team - so I am comfortable and competent in teaching environments. I use my own personal experiences from when I was a beginner to teach others.

Tutoring Approach:

Maximising marks in minimal time whatever your ability. The harder workers or clever students don't always get better marks. Strategy is the most important factor. Exam boards regulate exam papers to follow strict rules to such an extent that they can become predictable. If your strategy is right then the seemingly endless information in the sciences' syllabuses can be condensed to just a few A4 pages of understanding.

I believe in tailoring tutoring to the student because different people with different ambitions need different strategies to exceed them.

Personal Description:
I am an LSE graduate in BSc Accounting and Finance and have also obtained postgraduate qualifications in Statistics, I am currently a dedicated and passionate full-time tutor, I am passionate about my subjects and dedicated to seeing students do well.

I was privileged enough to be afforded a very good private education and originally decided to take on tutoring as an opportunity to share my knowledge with others and allow them to realise their full potential and all the other benefits of a good education.

Five main factors have contributed to my success so far namely,
- I have high expectations of myself and my students, I believe every student can achieve the best grades with the right help

- I instil confidence and a "can do" attitude in students, regularly reminding them that nothing is "hard" if you have been shown how to do it properly

- I listen to students, this keeps lessons interactive and ensures I have constant update on their thought process and current understanding

- I am relatively young so students feel comfortable engaging with me and enjoy learning from me

- I ensure continuous support for students, I make myself available for questions via phone or e-mail throughout the day to ensure the support does not end at the end of the lesson!

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Mathematics and Economics tutor for 4 years in this time my reliability and skill has enabled me to develop a good reputation which has allowed me to have a consistent base of 12 - 16 students on a weekly basis.

Career Highlights!

- Academic Year 2011 - 2012 I helped a student who was predicted a C grade at GCSE to achieve a coveted place at Eltham College after passing a difficult 16+ exam

- Academic year 2012 - 2013 I helped a student who scored a D grade at AS Economics achieve an A grade at A2 level after 8 months of tuition. He was the only student to score an A grade in his school since 2007.

- Academic Year 2013 - 2014 I helped a student who scored a C grade at AS Economics achieve an A grade at A2 Economics with an impressive 97% in Unit 1, 99% in Unit 2 and 100% in Unit 3. He had also had three previous tutors who he was dissatisfied with before coming to me.

Further Teaching Experience

At degree level I have taught Macro and Micro Economics to students attending Russell Group Universities, this year I helped an international student from Ukraine achieve over 70% in both Macro and Micro Economics.

I have taught A-Level Economics across Edexcel, AQA and OCR syllabuses with equal success. I have never had a student score below a B grade and have had several students score over 90% in modules.

I have taught Mathematics at A-Level, GCSE, 16+ and 11+ common entrance levels and covered AQA, Edexcel and iGCSE exam boards. I have helped students gain coveted places at top independent schools such as Eltham College and Bromley High. I have also helped students improve from as low as C grades at GCSE to A grades, however my most notable success this year came when I helped an AS Maths student who scored a D grade in January achieve a B grade in May with an impressive 84% in C1.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach embodies a long term approach to learning I teach students in a way which will allow them to be successful in higher study as well as their more short term exams. I also try to make students more confident in their abilities overall not just the material I teach.

I strongly believe that a solid understanding of basic principles is the foundation to success in academic study. I concentrate a lot of time and energy on instilling these basic principles in students.

I am also a strong believer in understanding over 'rope learning' I ensure that pupils understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, never encouraging them to simply regurgitate what they have seen previously.

I also encourage practical understanding of concepts frequently referencing real world examples and using objects to illustrate theory as I recognise that theory on its own given no relevance is harder to remember. Supplementary to this I also relate teaching material to potential job roles and tasks which I have knowledge of (mostly Banking or Business related) in order communicate usefulness to students and keep things interesting.

Finally I believe teaching successfully is ultimately about listening to your students I constantly encourage students to question things and express anything they don't understand or are not too sure of. If a student looks unsure or hesitant about something I will ask open questions or get them to explain concepts to me in order to fully grasp their understanding. This also helps build their confidence and ability to express themselves accurately.

Personal Description:
I work with my students to increase their confidence and help them improve their communication skills, in speaking and writing.

I have an English Degree from Bristol University, and I speak fluent French. I have a Trinity TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification.

I have worked as a writer, journalist and editor in this country and abroad, for magazines, newspapers and the BBC World Service.
I have worked for the UN and the EU, as well as many private clients and international aid agencies.

I came to tutoring in Africa, where it was clear that my services and experience could be very useful to students at all levels: I have taught one to one and in small groups, privately and most recently for a comprehensive school in Surrey.

I have also edited an MA thesis in History of Art for the Courtauld and some theses for Sotheby's History of Art students (we normally do very well!).

I have an Assessor's and Verifier's Award for CITY and Guilds NVQ courses. I am also teaching English and other subjects in Prisons in London, Kent and Sussex.

I am a mother of two boys, both now at university. My husband works in conservation which is why the family has travelled extensively. We are now back in England for the foreseeable future.

Teaching Experience:

Private students (A level and GCSE) and also teach GCSE English on a 1:1 basis to the lower sets of students at Jubilee International High School in Surrey. They have all raised their grades significantly and are much more confident with their work.
EFL at Guildford College to young Spanish students - Summer 2013.
I speak fluent French; I was a governor at Cranbrook School in Kent, and stood in for a term for the French assistante when she had to go home early. My A level students did well, and two continued their classes with me privately.
Tutor at Make the Grade tuition in Tunbridge Wells and also at summer English revision courses at Tonbridge School.
I devised and delivered a course for women journalists in Sierra Leone and taught creative writing and English at Foura Bay University.
Creative writing privately to groups, and at the University of Kent. I have helped students with presentation and interview skills, their CVs and Drama and Performing Arts GCSE.
Assessed NVQ Level 2 students in Customer Service with a 100% pass record.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand communication at all levels - verbal, written and on the web - and I am passionate about making people understand each other. I care very much about the basics - grammar, punctuation, spelling, and I have devised effective study skills tools which make a real difference.

My sessions are fun and inspiring. I am patient, and approachable, and work hard with my pupils to help them reach their full potential. I cannot do magic, but even the least able have contacted me after their exams to tell me they felt more confident about them. Some even told me they enjoyed them!

Personal Description:
Hi! I'm in my final year of a French and Italian degree at UKC, where I'm reading lots of novels and writing essays on them! Last year I studied at universities in Geneva, Switzerland, and Bologna, Italy, where I also travelled. When I'm not in the library or a seminar, I love to cook, read, and write, I have my own blog. I can tutor in French, Italian, and English, up to A Level. I'm also willing to travel around North Kent, about 45 minutes outside of Canterbury, and tutor over email and webcam. We can cover anything on your course, from basic grammar and vocabulary to A Level cultural topics and speaking exams. Get in touch and we can see what would work best for you.

Teaching Experience:

At sixth form I helped several friends with their GCSE Italian work (they all achieved at least an A grade) and helped my younger sister with both her GCSE French work and her GCSE History coursework, for which she achieved and A* grade. When I was studying in Italy I also took a course on teaching languages to Primary School Children.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is simple: start with the very basics and build on these once they are secure. I will help with homework and coursework as well as practice for exams. I am also happy to provide materials such as grammar exercises and mark these.

Personal Description:
I'm a young professional working in Canary Wharf for Level39, European largest technology accelerator for start-ups.

I hold an MSc in Theoretical Physics from King's College London and a BSc from Amsterdam University College, where I studied Physics and Mathematics as core subjects, and Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology and Logic as a minor.

In the past, I used to be a professional waterpolo player and I'm now an active ultracycler and triathlete.

Due to my interdisciplinary background, I believe in pro-active learning and teaching.
My goal is to make students passionate about what they need to study and to educate them about the beauty and importance of learning and of curiosity, showing them the freedom that comes from unlocking and mastering a piece of knowledge.

To do so, I always try to guide my students so that they independently come to the solution of a problem with their own but guided reasoning.

Teaching Experience:

I have acquired tutor experience with students of an age between 10 and 14 years old. I taught them Mathematics and some of the first concepts of Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

Subjects like Mathematics and Physics require a deep level of understanding and intution. Contrarily to the popular view, intuition is something that can be taught and trained. Having this as frame of reference, I first try to guide students through the most fundamental concepts of the subject in consideration, giving them tools to think appropriately and experiment the idea, the logic behind it. I want students to understand what they are computing and why they are doing it that way; this is far more empowering and long-lasting than merely learning to compute something.

Personal Description:
I am a French national living in the UK (Whitley Bay) where I have recently settled with my British partner (Science and art illustrator).
I was lucky to be able to take early retirement from my job as a Crew Manager in a French Airline.

I would now welcome the opportunity to share my experience, my skills in communication and my knowledge of the French language with British students and adults wishing to acquire or improve their own level in French idiom and culture.

Teaching Experience:

My previous occupation which involved communication in different languages and forms with, for example, foreign customers, crews of different nationalities or foreign airline partners, through training, teaching and lecturing in the environment of air transportation world-wide gave me the possibility to develop my aptitudes towards communication.

Tutoring Approach:

I have studied English literature at the Sorbonne (Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III), I also have a diploma of further education in Economy and Business (BTS - Academie de Paris - Ministere de l'Education nationale, de la Recherche et de la Technologie), and a diploma in English from the British Chamber of Commerce of Paris.
My studies and my professional experience have given me two different approaches to tutoring...
As a student, I could experience the importance of having a strong and adequate support in learning through committed tutors and passionate teachers... and on the other hand, as a professional, I was keen to share my knowledge and see the benefits of my action on my trainees.
Regarding languages the key is to define what kind of communication you wish to have and work that topic together.
Are you interested in verbal communication with locals when you are abroad ? Do you need to understand and use a specific form of language for your studies or work? Do you want to be able to read and write in French because you've partly settled there? And so on...
As a tutor my first step would be to know better about the reasons bringing you to learn French and how I can help you to achieve that aim...
So as you can see my approach to tutoring is more adapting my teaching to your individual ambition.
But it goes without saying that a good communication in any language rests on a sound foundation in that language. A thorough understanding and practice of the basic elements of the French language is therefore primordial as a first stage. You will then be ready to build up from that stage to the next level of communication.
Language is like music (I am also a musician)... so you need to educate your ear for better comprehension and practice almost every day to meet with comfort in pronunciation... reading aloud and of course speaking to a French national... Interaction is one of the best ways to develop your skills in a language...
Je vous dis donc a bientôt,

Personal Description:
I completed my undergraduate studies (English Language and Literature) in Greece, and my Masters studies in London. I have been passionate about the English language since I was very young, and was awarded the Cambridge University Certificate of Proficiency in English at age 15. When it comes to Language Teaching, I consider my exceptional level of English, my teaching skills, acquired during my Bachelor studies, as well as my experience of eight years of teaching to be my greatest assets. Offering private lessons of Greek and EFL in London and online. All ages and levels welcome. Flexible timetable.

Teaching Experience:

8 years of teaching experience in Greece and the UK, privately and in schools, all levels of English and Greek, including English Literature and IELTS preparation. I have worked both with children and adults, especially second generation Greeks and Cypriots.

Tutoring Approach:

Every lesson is tailored to the needs of the student. The use of specific handbooks is determined by each client's desires and needs. Extra material provided by the teacher. To support, encourage and help the student achieve his or her goals has always been my number one objective when teaching.
