Personal Description:
I have a PhD and an MLitt from The University of Glasgow, and a BA (Hons) degree from University of Paisley.

I am an on-line and off-line personal tutor with much experience in several subject areas including English, English Language, English Literature, Media Studies, Film Studies, Theatre Studies, and General Writing Skills. I have taught a range of students off-line from pre-exam age (11+) to Standard Grade, Higher, and university level, and on-line for pre-exam level (12+), GCSE, AS level, A-Level, university level, postgraduate and the adult learners.

Teaching Experience:

A well as being an experienced on-line and off-line personal tutor, I have also had several other academic jobs including:

Lecturer at Forth Valley College

Seminar tutor at The University of Glasgow

Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Glasgow

Top-Up Tutor at The University of Glasgow

Step Up to University Lecturer at University of West of Scotland

REACH Tutor at University of Glasgow

Proof Reader at University of Glasgow, University of the West of Scotland and Scottish Rural University College

Note Taker at University of Glasgow, University of the West of Scotland and Scottish Rural University College

Study Support Tutor at University of Glasgow, University of the West of Scotland and Scottish Rural University College

Transcriber at University of the West of Scotland

Support Worker at University of the West of Scotland and Scottish Rural University College

Exam Scribe at University of Glasgow and Scottish Rural University College

Exam Invigilator at Scottish Rural University College

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning should be fun and in a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time academic and useful. My approach to teaching is to have the tutor and student both feel that they are getting a lot out of the experience and that the time is being well used. I will break down subjects into easily manageable blocks and make sure that my student understands the unit before moving on. I also like to vary my tutorials by having some in the form of lectures, some in the form of question and answers, some where I will give students feedback on homework they have done and suggestions to improve what they have done, etc.

I also find that on-line tuition is the best method and students can ask questions that they may not ask if they were face-to-face with someone, it is a much more relaxed approach but students get a lot out of it (and can save all the notes from lessons for use later on).

Tutoring Approach:

I believe dont go for per hour price just look towards quality of education not quantity and result will be in your hand.
My tutoring approach will depend on the students learning ability, I can differentiate the student according to different range of ability and then work according to that.
I believe that tutoring should in most cases supplement the teaching that is received at school. I will focus on any difficulties that the student is facing and also concentrate on answering exam questions - especially answering techniques. If the student requires more extensive teaching of the syllabus then I will happy to go through this in further detail.
I honestly believe that a Teacher hasn't taught until the student has learnt.

Personal Description:
Qualified Teacher Status since 2013 by the Department of Education and Leadership in UK.
University Bachelor's Degree in Teaching specialized in Foreign Languages.
City and Guilds Certificate to teach Adult learners

Teaching Experience:

Since I left University in 1999 I have been teaching all levels of Spanish courses. I have worked for Redbridge and Barking&Dagenham colleges of Adult Education , teaching GCSE,AS/A2 and Advanced Conversation Courses. I have an excellent record of one-to-one tutoring with a very successful exam results. I also have the opportunity to work as an examiner for one of the boards which has given me more insight into the expectations for Spanish GCSE exams.
Familiar with AQA and EDEXCEL examining boards and their controlled assesments

Tutoring Approach:

Spanish is an amazing language! I believe learners need to understand the grammar well as this aspect is essencial to get good grades in their final exams. One-to-one tuition is the support your children need to gain confidence and not to give up before the extreme pressure of their exams. Once this is achieved learners will perform much better!
Past paper exams are also a good tools to help learners to be familiar with the exam requirements.

Personal Description:
After having completed a qualification in advanced Spanish in Salamanca in Spain, I returned to the UK to complete a degree in Psychology. Following university I went to drama school, and college to learn to teach English as a foreign language. I have taught Spanish and English privately since graduating, and love to see my students improving in their language. I am trained in phonetics, so can help improve in Spanish pronunciation, and with British English or American pronunciation. I am flexible and willing to travel to central and around London, or or have students at home in the Crystal Palace area.

Teaching Experience:

Before completing the CELTA course I taught Spanish privately and in groups at the university of Sheffield. While at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School I taught private Spanish, and also drama/speech preparation to those wishing to get into drama school, then of course during my CELTA course I was constantly teaching English to classes and privately. I have taught private lessons in Spanish and English since then, and am doing so currently. As you can imagine, from living in Spain, a degree in Psychology, a professional acting qualification and teacher training, I've been around the study of people and how they work for a while now. These experiences have made me an empathic, patient and responsive teacher. Learning styles are really important for a teacher and a learner - if we can figure those out, you can become amazing and proficient in whatever you want. Let's have fun, get some work done, and finish proud of what you've achieved.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a modern approach to language teaching and want to make it as fun and interesting as possible. The mixture between a Psychology degree, an acting degree, and a CELTA course mean my approach to teaching is empathic and eclectic. I may use traditional board methods, or role-playing techniques to make sure my students' learning styles are explored and made use of. I would be perfect for any native Spanish speaker as I can relate language points to make comprehension of English clear, and for any English speaker who wants to learn Spanish. As stated above, my knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet and its application makes me a good choice for anyone additionally wanting to improve their English, or Spanish pronunciation. I have lived in Spain, so I understand what it's like to live in a foreign country where you don't know the language. I have training in phonetics from both drama school and the CELTA course, so am a good choice for pronunciation practice in an addiction to language improvement.

Personal Description:
Hi there! =)

My name is Karly, I am a qualified teacher of Science. I currently work full time as a Teacher of Science and am one of the lucky people who can say they genuinely enjoy their job!! I am passionate about my subject and aim to help learners discover the fun that can be had!

I have experience in preparing candidates for their examinations, helping to prep to allow them to reach their full potential e.g. Revision techniques, guidance etc.

I am available to tutor Chemistry, Physics and Biology at KS3 (Year 7-9)and all three sciences at GCSE. At A-Level I teach and specialise in delivering Biology (Edexcel). Tuition is differentiated according to ability.

I am professional, friendly and fun. I am an approachable person and I like to make learning simple and bite-sized, enabling learners to enhance their understanding. I am efficient with time and like to ensure learners feel they have really made progress after their lessons!

If you`re interested in tuition for your child (or are in fact a student looking for additional support) please do not hesitate to contact me!

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly, fun and approachable person who is patient and understanding of the fact that different individuals learn in different ways. I like to give lots of practical examples and encourage ways for learners to link their learning.
I enjoy kinaesthetic approaches to learning e.g. drama and use ICT for visual learning. I like sessions to be bite-sized and chunked to allow retention and allow learners to feel that they are making progress!

I hate to see students who doubt their abilities and have low self confidence therefore I am always encouraging and always praise progress and aim to raise self esteem and confidence of my students =)

I encourage learners to be honest when learning, for example, if they feel the work is to difficult or not challenging enough so that I can adapt my lessons to ensure they are being positively challenged and develop.

I like to have a positive and professional relationship with parents and learners and aim to agree structured goals to help focus the progress of the learners!

Personal Description:
I am a retired police officer who has retrained as an EFL teacher. My main hobbies are keeping fit at the gym, music, reading, playing tennis, cinema, concerts and travel. As a person I am empathic, patient and kind. I am interested in current affairs both in the UK and worldwide.

Teaching Experience:

During my career I spent 5 years teaching IT in industry. As a police officer I spent 7 years in the Training Department teaching IT as well as Communications Skills, First Aid, Law and Force Policy.

Since retiring I have passed a CELTA course and have taught English in Vietnam for 3 months and Mexico for 4 months as well as a short contract in a high school in Austria. In the UK I have taught at a residential Easter School and two residential Summer Schools, teaching children and adults of all ages and from beginner to advanced level.

Tutoring Approach:

I apply to tutoring the same skills that I have used during my extensive time as a trainer - I motivate by encouragement, patience and praise, and use a teaching approach that will suit the learning style of my student. I also enforce strict deadlines and standards in order to maximise the learner's gain from the teaching time and to ensure that they use their study time wisely and efficiently. My attitude towards learners is that the only silly question is the one which they want to ask but don't, and that if they do not understand something then it requires me to explain it in a different way. I believe that if a learner enjoys their study they will gain a lot more from it, so endeavour to make lessons and tasks interesting and relevant.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a PhD in the law school at the University of Glasgow. My research is interdisciplinary and spans three areas: criminal justice - specifically jury research; critical pedagogy - specifically Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed and interactive theatre - specifically Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed. I have a rich experience in life having previously worked for 10 years in the music business as a classical clarinet player. I have travelled extensively and have lived and worked as a teacher in Singapore. I am passionate about teaching and where possible use critical pedagogy as a means to develop the best in each student that I meet. I am a relaxed personality and I believe that where dialogue is enabled between teacher and student a critical awareness of the subject can be achieved. I believe in encouraging each student to discover his best self in his educational journey.

Teaching Experience:

I have a great deal of teaching experience which covers all age ranges and abilities. When working in Singapore I worked as a teacher of children aged 5-12 at the Julia Gabriel Speech and Drama centre as well as developing the music course at the sister pre-school, Chiltern House where I worked with younger children aged between 3 and 4 years. In Scotland I have worked as a tutor and lecturer at the University of Glasgow Law School teaching criminal law and evidence to first year LLB students; at Strathclyde University I have been the course coordinator for contract law and a tutor for criminal law, evidence and criminology, each course was for LLB and LLB hons students. I was the course coordinator for criminal law and family law at the University of the West of Scotland and I have worked as a tutor at Glasgow Caledonian University in Glasgow. I current;y work as a Study Skills Tutor at the University of Glasgow where I support students who may have dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHA, asbergers or any number of mental health issues, in their university studies.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that each person has the ability to grow and become empowered through education. I have a relaxed and critical approach to tutoring. I believe that people are able to develop their own skills and potential when dialogue is established. I see my part as the tutor as key in encouraging the student to develop his best self. I have experience working with a diversity of people and I know that through developing a space where a person believes in himself a positive attitude to achieving the best results is possible. I am a very patient and versatile character and I am unafraid of adapting my style to suit the needs of the students.

Personal Description:
I am an electronics and telecoms engineering college graduate. I have an overseas degree in law. I work for a big transport infrastructure company as an engineering manager. I love teaching and sharing my vast knowledge in that which I know.

Teaching Experience:

My experience is mainly in coaching and one to one instruction and mentoring. I am patient and I go that extra to make sure the student gets the best of what I offer.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to give an overview of the value of education in general and to establish interest in the subject. I then coach the student to understand that the success story is centred on him or her no matter how good I am. In other words I give 5-10 free minutes of motivating the student before the real lesson

Personal Description:
I have a friendly attitude and find it easy to make people feel comfortable. I am a working artist as well as a teacher and I am passionate about my work. I have traveled extensively to exhibitions and galleries. My main interests are the impressionists and post-impressionists. I love the energy of color and I am able to teach the science of color and how it works. My main interests

Three artists who are very special to me are, Van Gogh, Cezanne and Matisse. I Love the way Cezanne carves out the 3D space using color. Van Gogh's paintings are beautiful arrays of color with wonderful patterns to create texture and physicality. Matisse can make his paintings sparkle. He knew exactly which colors to use to make his paintings explode with light.

Teaching Experience:

In the recent past I have been working as a supply teacher, chiefly because that is where there is plenty of work. I would like my work to be more art centered so art tuition would be ideal for me. I do not want to work full time as a teacher because I have my own work to do.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring would be to instill a knowledge and a love of color into my students whilst encouraging them to develop their own practices, looking at the great artists of the past as well as present day. Although a common opinion is that people are either good at drawing or not, I would disagree with this. Drawing can be taught just the same as English and Maths. I believe there is an artist inside all of us.

Personal Description:
I am a third year student studying International Business with German at the University of Birmingham. I am a good communicator who can speak four languages fluently: English, German, Ukrainian and Russian. Although originally I come from Ukraine, Russian is my native language as I was born and lived in Odessa (Russian speaking part of Ukraine) for most of my life. I have also completed full secondary education in Russian back in Ukraine and at the age of 17, I moved from Ukraine to further my studies in England. I enjoy meeting new people, understanding their background and where they're from as well as exploring new places and cultures.

I am also a motivated individual, who loves helping people to learn something new and seeing them progress.

Teaching Experience:

In Ukraine I used teach children aged from 10-15 English language, helping them with their school homework and constantly taking a step further with their language knowledge. Also back in boarding school in England I used to help English pupils, who were studying Russian for their A-levels to prepare for their wiring and oral exams.

Tutoring Approach:

As a fluent speaker of four languages, I really do understand all the challenges learners of the new language might face. I believe that vocabulary and grammar are basis for any language studies. It provides fundamentals, which with practice will improve the language skills itself. However, knowing grammar rules isn't helpful until you can actually use it in real world. Thus, I believe that combining both grammar and speaking exercises in classes can bring the best results, trying to use grammar rules, while speaking.

I would divide sessions in two parts trying to cover both grammar and speaking on different topics. This should improve both the use of grammar and vocabulary skills. I am also happy to support any current academic material and answer any questions a learner might have. By following such teaching strategy, step by step, a learner will improve the knowledge of the language.

Personal Description:
I'm an Oxford physics student who enjoys teaching and learning maths and science. I am friendly, academic and approachable.
I achieved 4 A* grades at A level, in physics, chemistry, maths and further maths. At GCSE level, I achieved 11 A* grades, including maths, further maths, triple science and English.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored several different students for a number of years in maths and science whilst I was at school, all of whom subsequently saw improvements in their grades. I am also currently helping with a voluntary tutoring programme in Oxford for educationally disadvantaged children.

Tutoring Approach:

I mainly offer intensive end-of-term revision courses in maths and science.. My next available time will be after the 13th of March.

I like to agree goals with the tutee before starting, both long term and for each individual tutoring session, so that I can prepare to work precisely on these areas for improvement.

I would happily offer discounts for multiple tutees.
