Personal Description:
I am a Mathematics graduate from Cambridge University. After graduating, I worked in the IT industry, initially for a large corporation and then for an independent software house. I later formed my own company, specialising in developing applications for small- to medium-sized companies. I used the logical skills developed through studying Mathematics in my work as Business Analyst and Project Manager.
Since 2009, I have been tutoring Mathematics full-time. I also study extensively to keep up to date with the latest mathematical ideas and educational trends. I ensure that I am familiar with the most recent syllabuses.
Outside work, my main interest is music, particularly singing. I belong to two choirs.

Teaching Experience:

I teach exclusively one-to-one, as I believe that provides the best outcome for learning Mathematics. I am also available for home schooling: please contact me for rates.
In the six years that I have been tutoring Mathematics, I have taught the following topics to over 200 pupils on a one-to-one basis:
GCSE - Edexcel, AQA and iGCSE - legacy and 9-1

• Kingston College
Most of my university pupils attend Kingston University, Surrey University, or one of the University of London colleges, though many come for intensive lessons in the holidays from other universities to reinforce the topics they are learning, or to prepare for re-sits.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in tailoring the teaching approach to each student's needs and individual learning style. For school children and university students, I discuss their aims with them - and with their parents, if required - to determine what topics need additional tuition and then to work out the appropriate programme. I advocate continuous assessment to measure the student's progress. Closer to exams, the pupils will work through old papers. At this stage, strategic choices may be made to focus on the pupils strengths.
For adults, I work with them to develop a personalised programme to enable them to achieve their goals. This may mean working towards a specific qualification.
I have great passion for and a deep knowledge of Mathematics. My aim is always to get my students to enjoy the subject. Most importantly, they are encouraged to gain confidence in their own abilities by building on what they feel comfortable with. I believe that the right teacher can undo wrong learning very quickly.
Lessons take place at my students' homes, or at my home in Kingston, where I have a quiet study. Assignments and homework are an integral part of my teaching: there can be no improvement without practice.

Personal Description:
Originally from Newcastle, I am now an actor and enjoy tutoring alongside my acting work. I have worked in TV, and also in theatre, including venues such as The National Theatre and the West End. Especially with younger students, I like to keep my lessons creative and practical. I studied English and Drama at Bristol University and then went on to train at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Recently, I have been tutoring in English, Drama, 11+ Common Entrance exams and general Primary school help.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for over 6 years. Alongside my tutoring, I am currently teaching Music and Drama in schools and I run workshops with Sixth Formers on ways of analysing texts practically.

7+ - I worked with Elektra (6) preparing her for 7+ Examinations. Covering English, Maths and Reasoning focussed on entry to Notting Hill and Ealing High School.

7+ - Working with Harry on English, Maths and exam technique, focussing him for 7+ exam for Dulwich Prep School. Harry has traits of both dyslexia and dyspraxia.

7+ - I work with Jules on his English. Jules is French and has just started attending a French school, so we are working to keep his English up to scratch. Main areas of focus are: speaking, spelling, listening/understanding and grammar.

7+ - Working with Charlie mainly on English, increasing his confidence in all areas but focussing on Writing, Grammar and Punctuation, and Comprehension.

11+ - Working with Guy on English and Maths one day a week. Mainly focussed on Guy's writing and spelling. Guy is preparing for entry to Westminster and Eton Schools.

11+ - I worked with Ingrid on English and Maths in preparation for exams for Notting Hill and Ealing High School, Francis Holland and Godolphin and Latymer Schools. Ingrid went to her first choice of Notting Hill and Ealing High.

11+ - I worked with Olivia in preparation for her Common Entrance exams on all papers (English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning) as well as interview practice. Olivia is now attending North London Collegiate School (her first choice) but I also prepared her for entrance to Highgate School for Girls, City of London School for Girls and Queen's College.

Primary Help - I worked with brothers Teddy (7) and Alfie (10) mainly on English and Maths but also across all subjects generally to improve knowledge, confidence, spelling and vocabulary.

Primary Help - I worked with Rohan (10) on improving his confidence and basic skills in English and Maths. Rohan was very inquisitive and keen but needed help focussing and answering the specific questions that he was being asked.

A Level English Literature (AQA) - worked with Oliver (17) helping with coursework on The Great Gatsby and the poetry of Keats and Larkin. Oliver achieved an A grade.

AS Level Drama (AQA) - helped Yasmin to explore the analysis of texts of Lady Windermere's Fan and A View From The Bridge in preparation for exams, in which she achieved an A.

GCSE English Literature - tutored Amy in preparation for coursework and exams. Texts: Lord of The Flies and A View From The Bridge.

SKYPE - I teach Pietro (11) English as a Second Language weekly online.

Home Schooling - Inigo (6 when I started) had been getting reports of generally dropping behind in class work with a lack of concentration. I homeschooled him every Friday for two terms. He was having particular trouble in English and Maths. Inigo was struggling especially with English, in all areas, and was most behind with Spelling and Grammar. For him to engage, I had to be both creative (to keep him interested) but also quick as the plan was to get him into Kew Green Primary for the next academic year. We covered the basics of year 1 and ironed out any problems (also to give him confidence with the things he could do) and then went onto year 2. I would use a lot of what he was naturally interested in (football and particular comic book characters) in the teaching to keep his attention. With Maths, Inigo could do simple addition and subtraction but struggled when getting into 2 digits, multiplication, or any sort of wordy problem where the sum to be done was not absolutely clear. So, again, we covered the basics and then pushed on. He worked really hard and eventually we were looking forward to things he may encounter next year. At first Inigo was quite reluctant to work but I managed to win him over and build up a good rapport for productive days of homeschooling. Thankfully, he gained a place at Kew Green, and we were delighted! (Though it did mean, unfortunately, that he didn't need me any more...).

English for Foreign Learners - Helped 8 year old Augustinos (Greek) with reading and homework to improve English, as well as taking him on educational trips around London.

Drama (practical) - Coached Emily (21) and Hannah (20) with acting lessons in preparation for Drama School Entry auditions. Emily has now trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Hannah is training at LAMDA.

Voice and Elocution - Helped Law Student Amar (20) with speechmaking and projection for use in debating.

SEN - worked with Dean (20), a law student with dyslexia, upon exam preparation and practice.

Tutoring Approach:

I will tailor whatever I teach to my pupil's needs. I am very easy to get along with and very open to how you think you or your child will best learn. Above all I would want a pupil to look forward to my sessions with them so will make sure that they are practical, interesting and varied. Especially with the younger students I teach I think that lessons need to be fun to keep them excited about learning! If you have any questions at all or specific enquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Personal Description:
I studied Classics at King's College, Cambridge, graduating in 2009. I then trained as a teacher at Queens' College, Cambridge, graduating with a PGCE in 2010. I have been a private tutor since 2009, and have now clocked up thousands of hours' tutoring experience. In addition to my school-age students, I supervise Cambridge University undergraduates in Latin and Ancient Greek. I tutor both languages to degree-level standard in London, Cambridge and on Skype. I love Classics, and my main aim is to make my lessons fun and inspirational.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Latin and Ancient Greek intensively for the past 7 years, with thousands of hours' teaching experience to date. I have taught towards all major public exams in both languages, such as Common Entrance, GCSE, AS, A2, SAT, Pre-U and even BA (i.e. University exams). I am familiar with the entrance processes for a number of independent and grammar schools, and have had a lot of experience teaching towards scholarship papers. I have tutored many students applying to Cambridge and Oxford, and can provide in-depth advice and support with choosing the right course and college, as well as getting to the necessary level for the language tests. I have also taught the languages to those who have decided to learn them purely for fun! In addition to my face-to-face teaching, I have taught extensively on Skype, and have built up an array of handy techniques to get the most from the online format. I was Head of Latin at a school in Bury St Edmunds for two years (September 2011 to July 2013). Since October 2010, I have been supervising Cambridge undergraduates in Latin and Ancient Greek (colleges so far have included Pembroke, Downing, Homerton, Queens', King's, Murray Edwards, Newnham, Caius, Peterhouse, St John's, Emmanuel and Trinity). I also own and run a private tuition agency, which I set up in 2011, managing a team of eight staff members and over 800 inspirational tutors.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is structured and thorough. I start every lesson with a five minute recap of the key content of the previous session, checking how much the tutee remembers. A typical lesson will then consist of a translation, in which I ask the tutee to note down each unknown word as it is encountered and to devise a memory trick which will help them to recall the word in a five minute test at the end of the lesson. Together with the tutee, I will then pick a grammar point which stood out in the translation exercise as requiring the most immediate attention. We will spend five to ten minutes working on that, with the tutee's understanding tested with some reinforcement exercises. At the end of the lesson we will recap all the new vocabulary and grammar which was covered, and I will typically set a manageable 20 - 30 minute homework for the next session based on what was covered in the lesson. Every lesson is of course different, and tailored to the tutee's requirements, but I find this approach works in the vast majority of cases. I consider grammar to be crucially important, but treat it as a means to an end and always emphasise the ways in which it can be usefully applied to translation rather than learned in isolation. I believe that any tutee can excel in Latin and Greek with a little guidance and a decent amount of independent work. Above all, I strive to make my lessons fun and enjoyable. I love my subject and want all of my tutees to love it too.

Personal Description:
As a post-graduate and former scientist, I have been tutoring chemistry for over 9 years now. I am an easy going, down to earth person with a natural flare for teaching. I really enjoy helping people to understand difficult concepts and I've always found science captivating. I am the kind of person who is willing to go above and beyond to help if I am able to. I have experience with young people of all ages, from crθche to holiday clubs, teaching in schools and leading teenagers at summer camps.

Teaching Experience:

I have enjoyed studying science at university level for over 8 years, during which time I was also involved in teaching undergraduate students in labs and tutorials. Since then I've held a post in a pharmaceutical lab developing cancer therapies, as well as teaching chemistry, physics and biology in secondary schools. I studied for a PGDE to become a secondary school chemistry teacher in 2010 (but had to end the course early due to severe morning sickness). As such, I have been able to practice and develop a variety of teaching methods and I'm up to date with the relevant exam board course outcomes and requirements. Over the past 9 years, I have professionally tutored many students, covering Standard Grade, Intermediate 2, National 5, Higher, Revised Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry, Revised Advanced Higher Chemistry, Higher Human Biology and first year University level Biochemistry. About 70% of my students have achieved at least 2 or 3 grade jumps since they started tutorials with me.

I have several positive references and a CRB enhanced disclosure, which will be available to view on request.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly approach to tutoring. I like my students to feel at ease so that they are able to ask me anything. I'm of the mind set that no question is too silly to ask. My tutorials are structured and tailored around the individual student. Depending on the time we have available before an exam/NAB, we will identify key areas that the student experiences difficulty with and work through them addressing Knowledge & Understanding and Problem Solving, both of which are key to achieving the individual's desired grade. I endeavour to cover all topics of the course if we are able to, as I often find that there are areas that a student realises they are not up to scratch on once we start to revise it. I create personalised worksheets for my students and we spend a lot of time going through past papers, as well as developing exam/study technique.

As tutition progresses, I have witnessed a huge increase in the confidence that every one of my students hold in their own ability to problem solve as well as understand their given course work. I have often had comments from students and parents that I make things easy to understand and that the student is actually enjoying their course a lot more since commencing tutoring. I try to make myself available as much as possible to answer queries from tutees by e-mail or text, especially in the run up to class tests or exams.

Here's what one of my previous tutees had to say: "Dale tutored me throughout my higher Chemistry course and I honestly could not have got an A without her! She managed to explain the complex concepts essential to understanding chemistry in a way that I could relate to real life. She was always supportive and motivated me to do well. She was always flexible and able to fit in between my busy schedule. Even now when I have issues with my course work at Medical school I know I could drop her an e-mail with questions and she would be more than happy to help out. Overall Dale is fantastic, if you want a good grade whilst having fun she is your best bet!" - Eilidh.

All of my preparation time (typically 2 hours per session), travel time and travel expenses are included in the hourly rate. I prefer not to travel more than 7 miles from home but will still be happy to consider this.

Personal Description:
Currently work for a top accountancy firm as an accountant, I have a passion for Business and Maths with a strong and rigorous approach to solving problems. My first Bachelors is in Investment & Financial Risk Management which has given me a strong foundation in core areas of finance and its applicability to business and economics. My second degree which I am still studying for is in Applied Mathematics and Statistics which is giving me the scientific background I seek.

Teaching Experience:

I taught Maths and English to kids and teenagers at Explore Learning for 9 months where I quickly found myself working in an environment which suited my natural ability to communicate complex concepts to students of disparate abilities. This is something which I would like to continue.

Tutoring Approach:

Its always important to understand the students background before you even begin to touch the subject matter, this gives you an idea of what level you need to teach at and how best to communicate the concepts which need to be taught. This may require one to change both body language and verbal communication used. There are 3 types of learners the visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners. Most people are a combination of all 3 but will generally have a stronger preference to one of these areas. The best approach is one which utilizes all 3 but also makes use of the students natural learning style.

Imagination; innovation; inspiration - tuition tailored to the individual and designed not just to educate, but to inspire!

Annabel is a professional and capable tutor who has many years experience working with children, teenagers and adults. Highly motivated, creative and intuitive, she puts enjoyment at the heart of every lesson and believes everybody has the potential to improve and excel. Annabel has a DBS clearance and also has a certificate in 'Level 3 Safeguarding Children'.

Annabel effectively tailors every lesson to the individual and is able to utilise her skills in order to ensure every tutee is given tuition to suit their personal learning style. Equally adept with pre-schoolers and GCSE students, Annabel enjoys the challenge and subsequent rewards that come from working with a wide age-range. Specialist tuition for those with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia is offered to encourage confidence and proficiency when learning new ideas and concepts.

Please note: TUITION IS CARRIED OUT AT ANNABEL'S OWN VENUE. People learn more effectively outside of their home environment and also this enables Annabel to keep session costs down. All tutees are entitled to two introductory sessions (normally priced) before paying for a block of five or ten sessions. Online tuition is offered for those who cannot travel to the venue.

★ EFL lessons cover those who are working to at least a `Lower Elementary Level`. Annabel will ascertain if she can offer tuition before you purchase her details. Unfortunately, Annabel is unable to offer English tuition to those who speak only single words, or no English. There may be an additional cost if Annabel has to do extra preparation, or buy additional materials, and all EFL students will be required to buy a recommended book to work through during lessons.

Personal Description:
Cambridge-educated tutor | Tuition at KS3, GCSE and A-Level | Support for students applying to Oxford and Cambridge

I have a degree in English from Queens` College, Cambridge, and A-Levels in German, Spanish, English Literature and Drama.

I tutor in:
English literature and language at A-Level, GCSE and KS3
English as a foreign language (to any level)
German and Spanish for beginners/KS3.

I also offer support to students applying to Oxford and Cambridge.

Teaching Experience:

I am experienced in teaching people of all ages on a range of different subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

Understanding the needs of the student is my first priority. Everyone is different and has to come at their thoughts and studies in a way which suits them.

I never dictate answers but look to give students the means and confidence to get there themselves. It`s my job to explain concepts, help tackle and understand course texts, create tailored handouts, give guidance in structuring essays and generally offer support wherever I can.

I make constant reference to course specifications to ensure that material covered is relevant and that course requirements are met: students should write essays and enter the exam hall knowing they have the tools to do well.

I also think it's important for students to discuss and develop their ideas in a way which genuinely inspires and engages them in the subject - the basis of the Oxbridge tutorial system.

Given the right focus, guidance and encouragement, I genuinely believe it is possible for any student to do excellently.

Subjects

I went through the GCSE and A-Level courses and know what it takes to do excellently in those exams. The subjects I list are in the traditional qualifications, but I am happy to tailor tuition to other courses, too.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Eva, and I would describe myself as a very warm, friendly, straight forward and patient person, with excellent communication skills. I have an incredibly strong academic record (A-Levels: English Literature-A*, Drama-A*and French-A) and a genuine love for reading, theatre, and music. I feel passionate about bringing success and confidence to those I teach, and I aim to inspire my pupils to have a real interest for the subject!

Teaching Experience:

I have regularly helped younger siblings with English homework, and given them the confidence to become braver and more vocal in the classroom. I am able to clearly explain exam and revision technique - which is often the key to improving grades.
I have previously set up a school drama club, and have led games and prepared lessons for groups of children. I enjoyed the challenge and process of this hugely, and know from verbal feedback that they did too! I hugely value the time I spent with these students and their inquisitive minds. As a result of my commitment to this club I was awarded the school's Eunice Hobbs prize for Initiative.
During my degree I was given the role as music teacher, singing teacher and pianist for one of the productions that was being put on. I enjoyed this hugely, and found the work to be incredibly satisfying. The group was made up of university students who had a huge range of musical abilities, and I feel that I was able to attend to each individual's needs by giving clear explanations and ways to think about music.

Tutoring Approach:

I graduated from Guildhall School of Music & Drama with a First Class Honours Degree, and feel that this is a wonderful foundation for tutoring. I feel passionate about helping pupils with Drama, English, or Music, and believe that I would be able to give excellent tutoring lessons. I feel very confident in one-to-one teaching scenarios, and believe I am sensitive to an individual's needs. I do not believe in "one size fits all", and am a great fan of finding out the right way and approach for everyone. Having rigorously gone through GCSEs, A-Levels and then a degree myself, I know how vital it is to feel confident in your own revision technique. I think it is also important to have a sense of fun when learning - and I believe I can bring this to the lesson!

Personal Description:
My name is Bansri and I am currently studying my final year of BSc Mathematics and Statistics with Management at Brunel University. I have around seven years experience of teaching and two years experience of one to one tutoring. This has provided me with plenty of experience to adapt my teaching and tutoring styles to meet my student's requirements. Furthermore, I am a friendly, polite and organised individual and as a tutor I always strive to help my students to achieve the best grades.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Gujarati at a Gujarati School in 2008 and am currently doing so. Thereafter, I tutored two boys of primary age in English and a girl of primary age in Maths. Recently, I have tutored Gujarati to an adult and KS2 to GCSE Maths and English to three students.

Tutoring Approach:

I have three approaches to tutoring which are flexible on the students' requirements which I have outlined as follows:
Approach 1: I tutor the syllabus to the student, topic by topic, and provide a lot of practice with plenty of exercise questions.
Approach 2: I work through questions that the student has.
Approach 3: In revision sessions, I provide crash courses of the syllabus to the students and work through past papers.

Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student.

As a dedicated tutor, I focus not only on the results but also on exam techniques and providing a thorough understanding of the subject matter through discussions and examples.

Identifying any areas of difficulty within a topic, I devise tailored learning targets to maximise my clients' potential in order to achieve success.

With the following qualifications and my vast experience in private tutoring, I strongly believe that I will make a positive contribution to your learning progress.

● Degree (University of Bradford): BSc Clinical Sciences (Hons) - 2:1

● A levels (Crossley Heath Grammar) - Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Urdu

● O Levels (Cambridge certified) - including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, Maths, Additional Maths , Urdu

Teaching Experience:

My experience and interest in tutoring developed during sixth form when I started mentoring key stage 3 students in science and maths. The feedback I received from the pupils and staff was very encouraging and this response gave me immense satisfaction. I have been a private tutor ever since.

My experience ranges from key stage 3 to GCSE, A Level and even degree level students, including tutoring international students online whose first language wasn't English. My biggest achievement to date has been working with a GCSE maths student who was struggling due to self-confidence issues and family problems. With hard work and persistence, not only was I able to help him with his lack of self-belief but he went on to achieve an A* in his exam.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the key to success is a mixture of core learning, doing past papers, learning exam technique and revision to consolidate what has been learnt.

I utilise the following general approach:

● Identify preferred learning style
● Identify any topics/areas of difficulty
● Preparing a weekly timetable for students
● Devising a revision strategy for exams.
● Past papers, exam technique and revision
● Practice makes perfect!

I encourage clients to ask questions freely to create a comfortable but professional studying environment. After each lesson I invest a lot of time and effort planning the next scheduled session to ensure weekly set targets are being met.

The client is my priority and their success is my aim. I will go that extra mile to help so please do not hesitate to contact me.
