Personal Description:
I currently work on a one to one and small group basis with students of various ages in a Medical Pupil Referral unit where I am deputy head of centre. I find the one to one contact simulating and highly rewarding. I have taught for over 30 years and am an Advanced Skills Teacher. I have always wanted to teach and love what I do. I am patient, understanding, supportive and highly aware of the need to enable the student to achieve. I work through praise and careful guidance work to ensure the student gets the most from the one to one contact. I am educated to Masters degree level and have taught in both comprehensive schools and special needs units. I believe in a child centred approach to learning and always aim to work for and with the student.

Teaching Experience:

I was Head of performing arts in a school in Dorset for seventeen years. During that time I worked extensively with children of all ages. I have trained teachers and guided those new to the teaching profession successfully through the early stages of their careers in teaching. I have directed numerous school and examination productions which has given me an excellent knowledge of plays and productions for use with English and Drama teaching. I have taught adults GCSE Psychology with a very good success rate. I have enjoyed the opportunities teaching in both the comprehensive and adult sectors have given me and I hope to continue this type of tuition through a more individual and one to one basis.
I am currently working with students who are unable to access school due to medical conditions. This has enabled me to further develop and extend my approaches and strategies for one to one teaching and small group situations.
I have responsibility for the Arts within my Centre and this has enabled me to stimulate and support individual students in working creatively and positively.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is always to work with the needs of the student involved. I always listen to their requirements and tailor my teaching to what is needed. I value student interaction and would hope to use as much student based ideas and thoughts where this is possible. I have a positive attitude to teaching which always aims to enable the learner to succeed in a supportive environment.
I have a good sense of humour, I am patient , a very good listener and an individual who works in a proactive manner. I create and work with a range of resources which are specific to the topic and area being studied and also create resources tailor made for the student involved. I use praise and positive areas continually as I believe we all like to receive positive thoughts about ourselves and this is a means to promoting a good and solid foundation to study techniques.
Although I have been teaching for a long time I really enjoy the challenges, satisfaction and creativity teaching offers. For every student I work with I plan and create personal , individual lessons and approaches which are appropriate for each student. This approach has led to satisfied individuals at all levels.

Personal Description:
From an early age I have been extremely enthusiastic about mathematics and since leaving education, and before I chose to pursue a career in education, I have been fascinated by learning and problem solving. I am currently a teacher in a new school in Hackney, East London. The college is for 14-18 year olds so I specialise in GCSE and A-Level maths teaching. We cater for a range of different backgrounds and abilities which requires the staff to have a wide ranging skill-set. I have previously taught for 5 full years, including 2 years at a 4-18 international school, and have 3 years teaching experience in the UK. My previous school was an independent international school. In all my years as a teacher I have taught GCSE classes and have come to have a sound knowledge of both AQA and Edexcel curriculums. I am also aware that GCSEs serve 2 purposes - one to gain a specific skill set and acquire subject knowledge, the other to achieve a prestigious and important qualification. I have worked in business for several years since completing a maths masters degree at Leeds University. As a relatively new teacher I have a fresh perspective on current barriers to learning and misconceptions within my chosen subject.

Teaching Experience:

1 year working in East London, 2 years overseas in the Dominican Republic (students are 95% native Spanish speakers), 3 years in England, 1 year PGCE training incorporating placements at 2 schools in Louth (North East Lincolnshire), trained at Lincoln BGUC. I am currently curriculum leader for maths at my college and have been acting head of department at my previous school.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to learning is presenting a new topic in a way that the learner can engage with best. I would aim to break a complex problem down into smaller more manageable parts. Maths is a subject where each new concept is just a collection of previously learnt skills or techniques used in a specific way. I would visit the house of the tutee under the supervision of a parent. Also, if acceptable, I would try to involve a parent in the tuition process so that they can work with the tutee at a later date, if they thought it would help. I am happy to set additional work to be finished between tuition sessions, if the parent and tutee consent to this. I aim to not only help the tutee in acquiring the grade they want but also to improve their confidence in maths and help inspire them to enjoy the subject more.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with 9 years teaching experience. I have a 15 year old step-daughter with AD/HD who is also on the Autistic spectrum. I also have a 6 year old daughter who is very able and a 3 year old daughter. I have been married for 9 years. but with my husband for 16 years.

I am looking to offer my services as a private home tutor to help struggling students with or without additional needs.

I can get references for previous tutoring jobs, upon request, as prior to having my 2nd daughter I had been tutoring for 3 families, preparing their children for their SATs and helping with homework. I am currently tutoring twins in Year 3, helping them with English and Maths skills.

I am prepared to come to your child's home but also willing to tutor from my own home if required earlier than 6pm.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 9 years after working as a Special Needs Assistant and then completing my Primary PGCE at Kingston University.

I have spent my 9 years teaching in Special Needs schools working with students with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autism, AD/HD, Downs Syndrome, Aspergers, Cerebral Palsy, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties and also visual impairments, as well as those with difficult home lives.

I have training in a successful Phonics scheme called Read, Write, Inc. Whereby students learn to read through intense synthetic phonics teaching which involves constant repetition and reinforcement enabling the student to learn effectively and quickly, gaining confidence in their ability. This would need some input from parents in order to be as successful as possible.

I absolutely love my job and now feel that it is time to offer my expertise, either in the evening or at weekends, to other children who find learning difficult and require a little extra help and support. I also feel that by my helping your son/daughter it will help you to cope with their needs in other areas without you having to worry about them struggling at school.

Tutoring Approach:

Wherever possible I would like to follow the schemes your child uses at their current school in order to not confuse them any further, but if this is not possible I will try to adapt my teaching style to accommodate ways in which they learn best. When it comes to teaching, students need to experience a variety of methods in order to find one that suits them. If this has not been established when I begin working with them it is something that I would work on quickly in order for the student to be able to start learning quickly and effectively.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate in Mathematical Economics from the University of Birmingham and a Chartered Management Accountant. I worked in finance for about twenty years and have been a governor in primary and secondary schools for many years before deciding to enter the teaching profession. I have been on the GTP training course for Secondary Mathematics at London South Bank University. I am the Instructor of the Kumon Study Centre in Eltham and do one-to-one tutoring in mathematics.

Teaching Experience:

I have 30 students on the Kumon maths programme at my study centre in Eltham. I individually tutor maths students from key stage 2 at primary school right through to A level. I also tutor statistics at GCSE, AS and A2 level. References are available on request.

Tutoring Approach:

There are many reasons why parents decide to appoint a tutor for their child. I will discuss your requirements in detail with you to ensure your child's tuition is tailored to them. Some pupils find the transfer from primary to secondary schooling problematic. I can explain the underlying mathematical concepts and to show them how to tackle questions so that they can get into the higher maths set for Key Stage 3 and GCSE. For older pupils I will build their confidence by presenting topics in a variety of ways and improving their exam techniques.
If one hour is too long for your child, I can arrange 30 or 45 minute slots. I will travel up to 5 miles from Sidcup.

Personal Description:
My name is James and I am an 18 year old student at the University of Chester. I currently study French at university. I am fluent in both English and French as I lived in Geneva, Switzerland for the past seven years. I went to an international school where I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB). I have four younger siblings, two sisters and two brothers, aged between 3 and 10 so I am used to being around children.

Teaching Experience:

As a part of the IB we needed to complete something called Creativity Action and Service (CAS hours), for my service I tutored students in the lower years in French. This ranged from my brothers friends in year 2 right the way through to year 10. I enjoyed my experience of tutoring and would like to further it by tutoring here in Chester whilst at university.

Tutoring Approach:

As each child's approach to learning varies, I prefer to have an introduction lesson where I can talk to the parents and the child to gain a proper understanding of the child's needs, strengths and weaknesses. This is extremely important for the 11-14 year olds and the GCSE students as it will help taylor a lesson that they can benefit from the most. This is also important for the primary school students as the lessons must be fun and interactive to keep them interested, if I can find out what they want to learn then I can plan a lesson that they will enjoy.

Personal Description:
Hi all (and apologies for awful hair in profile picture). I am currently a Oxford University reading mathematics (after studying at Dr Challoners), meaning that I am only available for tutoring outside of term times (although keep in mind Oxford vacations are very long! Feel free to contact me through the site and I can give you more specific information for when I am available). After trying to teach my family bits of maths for a while they have eventually tired of it so hopefully I might have more joy sharing my enthusiasm with a willing student!

Teaching Experience:

Aside from helping my younger sibling and kids I babysit with their homework, I also volunteered in a school run scheme where older students tutor struggling KS3 students once a week, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also have some experience tutoring other students through this site.

Tutoring Approach:

When studying maths, I have often found that a sound understanding of the basic underlying principles to be key, so this is what I would hope to instill in a any students. I would also focus on developing passion and enthusiasm for the subject as this is also incredibly useful, as it encourages students to spend more time to engage with material, in a more rigorous fashion.

I am an experienced ESL tutor having spent time teaching all levels and abilities. I am friendly, easy to work with and able to tailor my lessons to suit any needs. Beyond ESL I have a history of working with vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals throughout Sheffield.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in Ukraine, Spain and summer schools in London and have been teaching for approximately three years. I graduated with the CELTA certificate from Sheffield University.

Tutoring Approach:

I am warm, friendly and informal. I base my teaching on the premise that for effective learning to take place, the environment must be one in which the student feels relaxed and not worried about making mistakes, allowing questions to asked freely and to encourage them to think for themselves.

Personal Description:
I am a British academic and tutor, with degrees from the universities of London, Jerusalem and Cambridge. Author of 'Israel and the Cold War: Diplomacy, Strategy, and the Policy of the Periphery at the United Nations' (I.B. Tauris, 2013), I write for several academic journals, and review for the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House. I was the first recipient of the Mikardo scholarship, awarded by the British Foreign Office, and, whilst at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was awarded a Golda Meir Fellowship. Whilst at Cambridge, I won a Donner prize in Atlantic Studies.

Teaching Experience:

A former Teaching Fellow at King's College London, I have taught MA courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict, US and British Foreign Policy, War and Peace in the Middle East, and Inter-Faith Relations in the Mediterranean. A fluent Hebrew speaker, I was Peer Tutor in Hebrew at University College London, where I was awarded the departmental prize for excellence in the Hebrew language. I have tutored privately abroad, as well as in Britain, and have an immensely successful record with my tutees. Apart from one-to one and online tuition, I also offer intensive tuition during school and university holidays. I find that both tutees and parents find this particularly useful for preparation and/or consolidation of knowledge. For peace of mind, I have enhanced DBS/CRB clearance.

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed, interactive, theme-based, and multi-disciplinary. Use of past papers, analysis, deconstruction of exam and essay questions, concepts, and requirements; development of essay, and exam structure. I pay particular attention to a student's self-confidence, and self-expression, which often serve as catalysts for enhanced self-belief and, hence, success.

Personal Description:
My name is Umayr. I teach Chemistry, Biology and Maths up to A-Level standard. I also teach GCSE Physics and English Language. In addition to this, I can also teach both numeracy and literacy at primary school level. I am married and I am possibly looking to do PGCE to go into teaching in a school/college later on. I have moved recently to Bradford from London and am new to the area. I have my own transport to travel to any potential tutees.

Teaching Experience:

I have around 10 months of self-employed tutoring experience. I did tutor a fellow class student in A-level maths for a short period of time to improve his understanding of maths, especially pure maths. I also taught chemistry to university students in a university in Poland and was able to help about 70% to 80% of the whole year of first year medical students pass this subject. I provided them out of hours classes to help with certain difficult provided and even provided my own version of written revision notes to help prepare for the exam.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to help the student understand the topic by giving examples and showing solutions with in-depth explanations in simple terms so that the student can understand. I even give the student example questions to try out to make sure they understand the methods or factual knowledge. I believe that a student can only be fully prepared for an exam by attempting past exam papers.

Personal Description:
I have got Engineering degree qualification, which makes me the most appropriate tutor for mathematics subject. I have studied as well trained the simplest mathematics as well as complex one. So, I know the subject's concepts, ideas and problems inside out. I can discuss and introduce the rigor of real-life applications. I can make learning relevant to students' interests, thus create more students who actually care about what they are learning

Teaching Experience:

I have got a 10 years of teaching Experience. I have been teaching maths since at all Level since 10 years. Currently i have been teaching A-Level, year 4, KS-2 maths in UK.
I am very much aware of National Curriculum of UK and know about the key stages and the assessments, the student would go through after completing each key stage. I always prefer to discuss child's progress with his/her parents by the end of each assessment. That would assist me to meet the expectations of parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to build strong, personal relationships with students, because I believe personal relationship is foundation to student success. The more associated the student feels, the more teacher earns respect and consideration, the key ingredients for students to learn well. I teach to the student's strength that helps me to minimize the student weaknesses. I always listen and communicate early and often with parents, that helps me to map a better plan for success.
I always believe that, the better lesson planning by tutor leads to student success. I always plan my every session keeping these 6 points in my mind.
1. Outline learning objectives
2. Develop the introduction
3. Plan the specific learning activities (the main body of the lesson)
4. Plan to check for understanding
5. Develop a conclusion
6. Create a practical timeline
