Personal Description:
ONLINE TUTORING ONLY (Ask me about my classroom)

I am a First class Chemistry with Biochemistry graduate with a master's in Green Chemistry from Russell group universities. I have been tutoring privately for more than 6 years now. I have also tutored online for close to 3 years now.

I am aware that many students study with the concept of the sciences, especially Chemistry and Physics. The pressure can be daunting for a teen and I want to be able to make people `see` in a scientific way, be able to bring understanding so that they can take on any examination and achieve the grades they desire.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring professionally since 2010 and have helped various students boost their confidence and achieve their goals. My students have come from all backgrounds and have ranged from Year 6 to A2.

I have experience in exam and test preparation and composing of personal statements and final theses and dissertations. From my experience as a professional tutor, I have taught in several families with 8/10 people continuing tuition past 3 months.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that students learn in various ways, so I try to structure my tutorials to suit individual needs. Generally however, I strive for a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and sometimes take an informal approach towards learning especially where the tougher concepts are concerned. I am always professional!

I implore hands-on techniques (where applicable) and encourage participation and thought-provoking discussion. I encourage my students to ask "why?" I like to think that I am helping students become thinkers and not crammers.

I also make use of feedback mechanisms which can include tests or assignments (formal or informal) to assess understanding and progress.

NB
There is a one-off admin cost due to UKtutors which is collected during payment for the first lesson.

Personal Description:
I am 28 years old and have just finished my fifth year of teaching. The first four of those years were in a successful Birmingham grammar school and have just completed my first year at one of Bath's top school. My own education was received at a mixed comprehensive school in Wiltshire, after which I attended the University of Birmingham where I studied mathematics. I have recently moved back to the area after eight years in Birmingham, living with my wife and 4 year old labrador. Amongst other interests, I am always looking to stretch myself and keep my interest in mathematics and education alive by reading literature (particularly by Marcus du Sautoy) and attending seminars by the Association of Teachers of Mathematics (ATM) and other such organisations linked with various universities.

Teaching Experience:

The majority of my teaching so far was at a school within the King Edward VI consortium in Birmingham, teaching boys in KS3 and KS4, the majority of whom have target grades of A/A*. Around 35% of my timetable has been teaching KS5, both years 12 and 13. I have taught C1-4, S1 and M1. I also have experience teaching a range of abilities, from SEN to A/A* students at two co-educational, OFSTED rated outstanding schools in Birmingham. I also have experience of tutoring trainee teachers preparing for their QTS tests and also those preparing for the King Edward's entrance exam. I have lead the development of ICT/Web based learning for my department and have mentored trainee teachers and NQTs. During my four years in Birmingham I was appointed Head of House and Head of Year 7. The house I took charge of had lost both the sporting and academic competitions every year for 10 years. After two years in charge, my house were the winners of the academic competion (consisting of 15 events) which I believe is testament to my ability for to motivate student. During my first year in Bath I have aided in the running of a successful department and have added experience of teaching further mathematics to year 13 students. The modules I taught were FP1 and S2 and I am due to teach M2 next year.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer that anyone, of any age and ability, can learn mathematics and learn it well. The key is finding a medium that relates to the student. I am willing to try a range of different teaching methods to ensure that all of my students understand the concepts and ideas that they are being taught. What I will always do is give a relavance and a meaning to whatever I am teaching. That way, I believe the learning is more engaging, more enjoyable and therefore will be of a higher quality. These beliefs, coupled with a laid back and likeable nature mean I create a positive relationship with all of my students, a relationship that is vital for good teaching.

Personal Description:
I am a 22 year old student at the University of Liverpool, studying French and Psychology, graduating in June 2015. I have studied Psychology at A-level and I have been able to speak fluent French from the age of 5, as I was in the French school system up until the age of 15.
I have lived in a number of different countries and have a lot of experience with getting to know new people in new environments. I am told that I am a friendly and approachable person, and I enjoy being able to help others whether this involves academic/school help or just being someone to talk to.
I am the eldest of 3 children and I am very responsible and organised.

Teaching Experience:

I have had some teaching experience, as my mother is a teacher I have been lucky enough to be able to have done some work experience with her in the various schools she has worked at over the years. I also have experience with homework tutoring for people in my own schools, as well as helping my own siblings with their homework/coursework.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very friendly and approachable person, making people feel welcome and that they can ask any questions they like in regards to subjects they do not fully understand. When tutoring, I make sure that every subject is covered thoroughly before moving on to the next level/topic.
I ensure that all tutees feel that they can take as much time and ask me as many questions as they like, as I believe that a friendly, non-pressured approach to tutoring is the approach which will produce much more efficient, beneficial results.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed my PhD at the University of Dundee.

I enjoy reading various philosophy from Ancient Greek to modern postmodernism.

Teaching Experience:

I am a current tutor for the philosophy department at the University of Dundee. I also teach the philosophy summer course for the university.

I have been a tutor for 5 years and teaching the summer course for 2 years.

I also previously taught an adult course for the University of Dundee based on a causal reading of the philosophy of Plato.

Tutoring Approach:

Philosophy is a difficult subject to understand with technical concepts and explanations. My teaching approach simplifies these concepts and explanations by relating them to everyday examples. Also where appropriate they are also related to film and tv examples. This approach then aims to clarify and help the student's understanding but also make the learning process fun and engaging.

Philosophy is also a subject that encourages critical thinking. I encourage my students to be critical of the philosophers and ideas that are being discussed. Their criticisms then can illuminate a deep problem in the philosophy or be comparable to another philosopher's objection.

Resolution of any problems or issues that arise whilst addressing a philosopher is also key. This is because no problem is trivial and helps to clarify the student's understanding and also make the text easier to understand. Any problem will be addressed such as difficultly in understanding an area in the text, concept, or in understanding another philosopher's criticism.

Homework will be given that covers the discussion. Typically these questions will be for the student to give an explanation of concept and how this can be practically applied.

Overall my teaching approach is:
*Simplification of Ideas
*Use of everyday, TV and film examples
*Resolution of student's problems
*Homework based on the discussion to clarify the student's understanding

Personal Description:
A PhD student currently writing up my thesis in Chemistry - specifically in the synthesis of new compounds to be used in organic electronics. I have a BSc Hons in Chemistry and a MSc in Drug Design and Discovery.

I am based in Glasgow, and I am an easy-to-speak-to, laid back person. I am passionate about learning, in particular in learning science. I believe that everyone should have access to learn at least a basic level of science as it drives the world around us today.

I have a wide range of experience in traditional chemistry through to current modern techniques and methods. I am well versed in both theoretical and practical chemistry. My main field is synthetic organic chemistry with a scope towards materials (solar cells in particular). Through my studies I have also covered a range of physics, maths, and computing, as well as research methods and planning.

I am highly motivated, passionate, and organised. I look forward to helping you achieve your own goals whether they are to improve a grade, pass a test, or just learn for pleasure or personal interest.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored at undergraduate level, and I have demonstrated and taught in undergraduate chemistry labs, including handling assignment marking and feedback.

During my PhD I demonstrated in the undergraduate teaching laboratories, where I showed students how to correctly perform their experiments. I would cover the theory of the experiment, explain why it was important, highlight any important aspects and explain the best approach to completing the work. I would then receive and mark lab reports, giving feedback and providing any required additional help or details that each student required. Additionally, during my MSc I tutored an undergraduate student one-to-one because they were unhappy with their grade (a grade C). After some weeks of tuition the student attained a B+, missing out on an A by a few percent.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to ensure the student understands what the underlying theory, reasoning, and application of the topic is. I don't think rote memorisation is a particularly strong approach, especially without ensuring the basic foundations have been understood. I am happy to work towards achieving an improved grade, passing an exam, or simply learning for personal interest.

Personal Description:
A warm welcome to students and parents,

Teaching has always been my passion and now I am very delighted that I can use my teaching ability to help children achieve their full potential on an everyday basis.

I have been tutoring children over the last four years from Nursery to GCSE level within the Coventry area. I have also worked in a number of schools as a full time qualified teacher. I always receive positive feedback from clients with my most memorable being "Miss J always goes that extra mile to help bridge the gaps in one's academic learning journey". Having moved from secondary school, straight to completing my A-levels and then onto university, I have developed a wide range of knowledge in helping children tackle their weaknesses, embrace their strengths and take pride in their learning achievements.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring children is my full time profession, which has enabled me through time to develop carefully chosen activities to maximise every child's learning potential. After graduating with a teaching degree from university, I decided to go straight into teaching in schools. I really enjoyed this and developed many skills within the teaching world. After sometime, I decided I wanted to help children on a 1:1 basis as this method was so effective for those children that would not show their potential in school, or for those who were shy… or where teachers would not be able to pay attention to specific children because of the thirty in the class. Now, I teach children at diverse levels and I really enjoy it.

Within this four year period, I have taught and excelled over 200 students at different times. This has been really rewarding for me, as I am a natural teacher at heart and I really do take my work seriously.

Consequently, I have also had 3 years of university experience in the world of teaching, covering all aspects of the national curriculum, assessments and independent learning strategies to challenge children.

Every term, I give children mock term assessments as integral preparation to help consolidate their learning. This enables me to know how much they have learnt from my sessions and what areas they still need to improve on. This method is also the key for exam success.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very systematic, however at the same time I adapt to the specific child's needs. Every child I have tutored so far, I have built a bond with. I hold a fair, firm and fun attitude towards learning.

The key services I offer on a regular basis within the tuition fee: block spelling tests, reading books every week depending on ability, phonics practice for the younger children to prepare for their year 1 phonics tests and finally, previous exam practice materials in all core subjects for KS1, KS2, KS3 and GCSE.

In addition, children are rewarded for their hard work through different motivational techniques and prizes through a tally chart system.

Every session entails 2-3 pieces of homework and I also give full written or verbal feedback to parents depending on their requirements.

I usually travel to clients residence or sometimes they come to my residence.

My aim is to not only teach children but to also help them enjoy their learning - by creating a safe, fun and secure learning environment.

Thank you for taking out the time to read my profile.

Kind regards,

Jay

Ulla Fudge teaches "Introduction to Cinematography" at A1 Media Courses and gave private tuition to UCL Students who were studying Film&Media courses and towards Psychology Degree (references upon request). She also helped with final dissertations and course work for Bachelor Degree and GCSEs in Film/Media.

Tutoring Approach:

I always approach each student with an open mind, firstly analysing what approach and what knowledge is needed to proceed and succeed. With my clear structure and willingness for the student to succeed the lesson will be lively, full of information and with a very straightforward plan of action, that needs to be taken.

Personal Description:
I'm a highly motivated and passionate editor with over five years' experience in copywriting, editorial and publishing. I recently trained to become an English Language Teacher and gained the Cambridge English Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA).

I currently work as a freelance editor and writer and offer private tutoring for foreign language learners. If you wish to learn or improve your English, then please get in touch. My hourly rate is reasonable and my hours are flexible. I can either host the sessions or come to you.

Teaching Experience:

I completed 120 hours of a full-time teacher training course leading to the Cambridge English Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) from 5-30th September 2016. The course was of an extremely practical nature and included six hours of supervised and assessed teaching practice on groups of adult foreign students. The course also included work on teaching methodology and techniques, and phonology.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach is personable, supportive and encouraging. Before the tutoring sessions begin, I will carry out an initial consultation, which will enable me to gage the student's level (e.g. elementary, intermediate), as well as their reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities. It's also important that I understand the student's motivations for learning English.

During the tutoring sessions, we'll cover the basics of English grammar (depending on level) and practise the grammar and vocabulary using real-life activities, such as, writing an email; listening to conversations; speaking and reading authentic materials (e.g.magazine articles, emails...)

I'll use a number of effective teaching techniques for practising and checking language, and work hard to make my clarification of meaning effective. I believe in student-centred lessons and respond to students' needs, correcting errors appropriately.

~ Testimonials ~
"Natalie is a positive and enthusiastic teacher who has demonstrated a lot of ability in the classroom".
"Natalie has an excellent rapport with learners and responds well to their needs".
"Throughout the course, Natalie displayed a friendly and supportive manner with her students and was able to establish and maintain a positive learning environment".

Personal Description:
- I have successfully completed two years of a BSc Biomedical science degree at King's college London and have a love of biology and wider science I would love to share with younger generations.
- I am currently taking a year out to help care for my terminally ill father.
- Prior to this, I attended Hampton school from which I graduated with the A-levels maths, chemistry and biology (AAA) and the AS levels physics, geography and computing (AAA).
- Outside of education, I am a 21 year old with keen interests in fitness/nutrition, travelling and extensive reading.
- My primary academic interest lies within the realms of biology but my university degree has left me well versed in chemistry, biochemistry and maths as well.

While I do have my own car and am able to travel as necessary I also have a spacious, 2 desk home office that is an excellent learning environment.

Teaching Experience:

- Throughout my time at school and university I have always enjoyed mentoring, supporting and teaching both those in younger years and my peers who are struggling to grasp a concept.
- I also provided my sister with support in sciences and maths throughout her studies as she was more artistically minded and focused.
- I also spent 6 months volunteering with children who had severe downs syndrome aimed at engaging them in activities to develop their social, cognitive and verbal skills. This was an invaluable experience that saw my patience and empathy grow immeasurably.

Tutoring Approach:

1 - Flexible: Not everyone has the same ability, needs or approach to learning and so I feel it is imperative that tutoring is tailored specifically to what each child wants and needs.
2 - Thorough: I feel that often problems within subjects can run deep to the fundamentals principals on which it is based. It is important that each child has a good understanding of these as they provide them with the ability to apply them and learn independently.
3 - Patient: Feeling like you are struggling and not doing as well as you might want is an extremely demoralizing and difficult thing for a child to cope with. As someone who has experienced it myself I feel I am able to help guide them back on track through my ability to empathize, develop a relationship and slowly help rebuild confidence and motivation.
