Personal Description:
I am a highly trained, experienced, self motivated and flexible individual with excellent organisational/interpersonal and communication skills, able to operate at all levels, with students from all backgrounds and nationalities.
I began my Photographic career over twenty years ago, then slowly slipped into Film making as a natural progression.
I have shot photographic projects and films all over the world, and have been an ambassador representing several schools, colleges and universities whilst involved in this work.

Teaching Experience:

I have over twenty years of Photography and Film making experience, working abroad to shoot several short films in Prague, Paris, Africa and China. I have worked with both African and Chinese students in their countries, shooting a variety of Photographic and Film projects, having spent three months, and one month in these respective countries.

I have over twenty years of teaching/training experience in various establishments, Schools, Colleges, Universities, and with various council's throughout the Midlands. I have over twenty years of experience of dealing with a wide variety of students , from various backgrounds. I have worked with students of all ages, from primary school, to adult students in their eighties!
I have worked with people from mental health units, drug rehabilitation centres, and the probation services, using the creative media and arts as a form of therapy to bring about positive change.

Over twenty years of writing and delivering bespoke re-engagement training courses in a wide variety of areas (including photography, film making, digital imaging, film and media studies, literacy, numeracy, preparation for work training, CV writing, personal motivation and decision making), to disenfranchised, marginalised students.

Excellent computer/I.T. skills using a wide range of high end/professional software for video editing, image manipulation and audio visual presentations/performances.
Extensive experience of curriculum development, development of schemes of work, child protection policies, professional practices, and internal verification of work using assessment criteria from a multitude of awarding bodies.
I have been associated with UK Tutors since 2005.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is a very relaxed, informal one, giving the student ample opportunity to attempt things for themselves, and to allow them to flex their own creative and mental muscles with support and guidance where necessary.
Students are allowed to be themselves, feel relaxed , comfortable, to be able to make mistakes, without the pressure of being surrounded by or judged by their peers.
I often use projects to reinforce creative ideas or techniques, so that students begin to create their own portfolio's of their photographic work or video clips that they can use to create a show reel.

Personal Description:
I am a Mathematics graduate from Cambridge University. After graduating, I worked in the IT industry, initially for a large corporation and then for an independent software house. I later formed my own company, specialising in developing applications for small- to medium-sized companies. I used the logical skills developed through studying Mathematics in my work as Business Analyst and Project Manager.
Since 2009, I have been tutoring Mathematics full-time. I also study extensively to keep up to date with the latest mathematical ideas and educational trends. I ensure that I am familiar with the most recent syllabuses.
Outside work, my main interest is music, particularly singing. I belong to two choirs.

Teaching Experience:

I teach exclusively one-to-one, as I believe that provides the best outcome for learning Mathematics. I am also available for home schooling: please contact me for rates.
In the six years that I have been tutoring Mathematics, I have taught the following topics to over 200 pupils on a one-to-one basis:
GCSE - Edexcel, AQA and iGCSE - legacy and 9-1

Kingston College
Most of my university pupils attend Kingston University, Surrey University, or one of the University of London colleges, though many come for intensive lessons in the holidays from other universities to reinforce the topics they are learning, or to prepare for re-sits.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in tailoring the teaching approach to each student's needs and individual learning style. For school children and university students, I discuss their aims with them - and with their parents, if required - to determine what topics need additional tuition and then to work out the appropriate programme. I advocate continuous assessment to measure the student's progress. Closer to exams, the pupils will work through old papers. At this stage, strategic choices may be made to focus on the pupils strengths.
For adults, I work with them to develop a personalised programme to enable them to achieve their goals. This may mean working towards a specific qualification.
I have great passion for and a deep knowledge of Mathematics. My aim is always to get my students to enjoy the subject. Most importantly, they are encouraged to gain confidence in their own abilities by building on what they feel comfortable with. I believe that the right teacher can undo wrong learning very quickly.
Lessons take place at my students' homes, or at my home in Kingston, where I have a quiet study. Assignments and homework are an integral part of my teaching: there can be no improvement without practice.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced tutor with first class honours in Modern and Medieval Languages and Literature from Cambridge University. I am also a working actor with six years of professional experience throughout theatre (Shakespeare's Globe, Edinburgh Royal Lyceum, Northern Stage, Southwark Playhouse), television (BBC, ITV, Sky) and radio (Radio 4).
I also have 5 A-Levels at A grade, 10 GCSEs (9 A*s - for my English Literature GCSE I received the top mark in the country - and 1 A).

Teaching Experience:

I have been a committed tutor for a number of years now, dedicated to enabling others. Additionally as an Educational Practitioner with the Globe Theatre, Propeller Theatre Company and as a freelance Workshop Leader, working with 8-18 year olds (and often international students who speak no English!) I have learned first hand the power of facilitating learning in others.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very keen to tailor my tuition to the specific needs of the tutee ie. try to identify subject areas in which they themselves felt under-confident. If a "general" improvement is sought then of course I would structure the sessions around what I felt would be most useful; as a jobbing actor I am able to thoroughly prepare each lesson plan around the needs of the individual, and insodoing, to maximise the efficiency of the time "in the classroom"! I myself was tutored outside of school during my adolescence, so know what a tiresome experience external tuition can sometimes be, especially on top of an increasingly demanding schedule within school, so would be keen to make this experience as harmless, instructive and hopefully fun for the tutee as possible! It is something I am deeply passionate about.

Personal Description:
I am a mathematics teacher with eight years experience mainly at A level. However since 1993 when I began post graduate study at UCL I have always tutored at least one student either at degree level or at A level.Since 1993 I have lived and worked in London but in 2008 I also worked at the University of Warwick near Coventry for 18 months on a research fellowship. I enjoy teaching students whose main interest is mathematics and would like to pursue their studies in mathematics at a top University such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, or Warwick. I have taught students who have gained entry to these institutions.

Teaching Experience:

PGCE in secondary mathematics at Goldsmiths College, University of London, 1999. Following this I taught undergraduate problems classes at LSE in 2000. In 2001 I taught for one year at Yesoday Hatorah school in Stamford Hill and was responsible for all mathematics teaching to GCSE level. From 2002 to 2008 I taught mainly A level at Ealing Independent College . I returned to teaching at Ealing Independent College in 2012 to 2014 after a break working in Coventry.

Tutoring Approach:

Getting to know the student's strengths and weaknesses. Much checking of understanding which is the main advantage of tutoring. Helping the student to plan learning for examinations. Plenty of opportunity to work through past examination papers to improve performance.

Personal Description:
I am a multilingual ex-City consultant with degrees in Physics and Environmental Economics.
I tutor Maths, Physics, Science and languages (French, German, Spanish, Latin). I am a very patient tutor who understands very well the challenges of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have one-to-one experience in tutoring Maths, Physics, French and Latin. Most of my experience is from my engagement with a south London initiative called GCSE success.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very patient tutor who values getting the 'basics right' before building on that knowledge. I am very flexible and adaptable depending on the pupil's aptitude and interest in the subject. I tend to use visual aids for Maths and Physics tutoring with very positive results. For languages I also use teaching and memory methods in order to help the pupil progress rapidly with visible results.

Personal Description:
Sarah began her acting career by winning a prized place with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, receiving the Princes Trust Mercury Communication Award for her achievements. The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, being an organisation for whom she later worked in many theatre disciplines. To consolidate her talents, Drama Studio London awarded her a full acting scholarship to attend their Post Graduate Acting Course. She has extensive experience both as a teacher and professional actor. Theatre credits include playing the leads in Deadly Night Cap, Popcorn (National Tour Bruce James Productions), This Happy Breed (Grange Court Theatre) and Miss Julie (winning both the Dorris Berryman and Wakeman Trophies) as well as commercials and TV, including Eon Energy, Hitman and Her and numerous voice overs for prime time TV Shows including Orange Play List, UK Music Hall of Fame and Strictly Come Dancing. Sarah teaches for Stagecoach Theatre Arts, The National Citizen Service and has continued to acquire a wealth of teaching experience from Secondary School to private institutions, youth theatres and as an actress in Theatre in Education Tours.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 15 years experience ranging from Secondary Schools, Drama Schools and Theatre In Education Companies. I specialize in preparing students for UK Drama School auditions, Child Actors for professional TV and theatre auditions and adults entering the profession for the first time. I am an experience acting tutor whom will work with you to select original and captivating audition pieces and perform them to the highest possible standard. I do this by creating a safe and fun environment whilst working on performance, stagecraft and improvisation techniques. Enabling originality and natural performances that will better prepare you for a very competitive industry. I also offer industry and career advice as a matter of course.

Tutoring Approach:

Professional acting coaching, specialist with Drama School Auditions, Child Actors and Adults entering the profession. I train with a great sense of fun and humour, ensuring that students feel relaxed and achieve a "sense of joy" from their tutoring. Coupled with this, I apply immense attention to detail with the craft, ensuring that audition pieces are the absolute best they can possibly be across all facets (voice, physicality, truth and performance). I am also very adept at working with children whom are primarily seeking confidence and life skills as opposed to a professional acting career, enabling growth and increased "life skills" that can be applied to everyday living and their school environments.

Personal Description:
I have always had a very approachable manner as a teacher as I have always believed that this is the best way to relax a pupil and make their mind more pliable to different approaches. I fully understand that mathematics can be a challenge, and this I believe is where my very patient and empathetic demeanour can produce results quickly and restore a pupil's self-belief. I am thorough in my preparation, professional in my presentation of written materials, and prompt and comprehensive with marking. I will be reliable, wholly courteous, and totally focused on the pupil's development.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a qualified teacher since 2006. From 2005 to 2012 I taught at Swansea College (now, Gower College Swansea) on a range of programmes including BTEC courses, GCSE and A-level Mathematics. While at Swansea College I continued tutoring mathematics privately, building my knowledge of the demands of Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, and developing a range of strategies to effectively teach those specifications.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that mathematics is based on a number of core principles, and success in mathematics depends on a concrete understanding of these principles rather than rote learning of topics. My private tutoring sessions are always designed around the effective delivery of these principles. I am always flexible in my approach, and I understnd that a pupil's attention may be distracted by something that they remember they have covered in a formal lesson. However, my commitment to ensuring that the principles are understood will not change. My lessons last for 1 hour and 20 minutes, and incorporate a 5-minute introduction to the objectives for that session, 1 full hour of teaching and a 15-minute review at the end.

Personal Description:
I am currently doing my Ph.D in computer science. It focuses on the implementation of security and anonymity mechanisms. Over the years of my academic study I have worked in a variety of subjects in the field but I am mostly interested in cyber security techniques and cryptography. I have worked with programming languages such as C and Python and Assembly as well as with a variety of other tools. I am fluent in Greek and English and also proficient in research and study methodologies.

Teaching Experience:

As a private tutor, I have teaching experience in a few subjects of my field. I have the most teaching experience with cryptography, cyber security and C programming as well as English but I have also tutored in other subjects such as computer architecture, algorithms, English and some basic mathematics (mostly geometry).

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very direct approach that involves organising and presenting the information in a simplified form that is easily understood. I am also very proficient in professional study methods. These techniques can be used to organise study material that can be memorised more affectively and with the minimum amount of effort.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated with a First Class Law Degree from Edinburgh Napier University. I am currently saving up money to do my Masters starting next September in International Human Rights at the University of Maastricht and looking to gain experience teaching and tutoring prior to this.

I am a confident, hard-working individual used to motivating friends and colleagues to achieve the very best they can. I feel that I can be a very approachable tutor and can assist your child achieve the very best grades possible.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience is limited to assisting friends with coursework throughout my university career. However, I have had many voluntary roles as an adviser within the Citizen Advice Bureau and a legal advice clinic which I feel has given me the experience necessary to be able to relay information in a manner that is understandable, concise and accurate in order to further enhance your child's learning.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring will be entirely dependent on the child. Everybody learns differently and by helping your child figure out the best study techniques for them, I hope to tailor my tutoring to each individual. I would seek to spend the first session getting to know the child and try to establish what methods would be the best to utilise in order to help them achieve the very best they can.
