Personal Description:
I studied a BSc in Genetics at the University of Liverpool after which I worked in a microbiology laboratory. In 2008, I moved to Brighton, my home town, and completed a PGCE in secondary science with the University of Brighton. My teaching practice was in two West Sussex schools and I then worked a maternity contract as a Teacher of Biology in an all-girls school in central Brighton. Following this role, I worked as an Editor for a science publishing company based in London.

My most recent position was as Teacher of Science at Bellerbys College, Brighton, an international school which prepares students for a university education in the UK. Since 2008, I have tutored many students from GCSE to University level providing guidance for exams and subject-specific support. I thoroughly enjoy imparting my understanding and love of science to others.

I am now living in Scotland undertaking an MSc in Psychology at the University of Abertay, Dundee. Alongside this, having trained as a Yoga teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga, I teach private and group Yoga classes.

Teaching Experience:

I hold a PGCE in secondary science from the University of Brighton and whilst on this course I taught 11-18 year olds at two West Sussex schools. I then worked for a year, on a maternity contract, as a Teacher of Biology at an all-girls school in central Brighton. For the last three years I have held a full-time position as a Teacher of Science at Bellerbys College, Brighton.

I have five years tutoring experience, having tutored Undergraduate-Level, A-Level, AS-level, GCSE and mature students in both Biology and Chemistry. I have a very successful track record.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very friendly and approachable, and highly dedicated to my students -- I put in a lot of time and effort to ensure they are achieving their full potential. Within the sessions, I provide solid structure and tailor my approach to their individual needs. I suggest work for completion outside of sessions and provide the students with direction to develop their private approach to learning and revision.

I am able to explain difficult concepts in an easily digested way, making learning for them enjoyable and confidence-boosting. I have a clear, patient manner, and an excellent grasp of my subject specialisms.

Personal Description:
I am a teacher of Sociology and Psychology with extensive experience (over 14 years) of teaching both subjects at A level (AQA specification). I am passionate about my subjects and enjoy working with young people and passing on this passion and motivating them to reach their potential.

My teaching style is very interactive using students' existing knowledge and developing this further. Students are persuaded to stretch themselves and work as hard as possible in order to achieve success.

I have the ability to convey understanding in relation to complex areas of both subjects and I am able to communicate effectively to people at different academic levels and of varying academic ability.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience teaching the AQA specification for both Psychology & Sociology. I have an excellent track record with 80% of Sociology students and 70% of Psychology students achieving grades A-B (June 2013 results).

For the past 14 years, I have also taught private students both subjects at A level on a one-to-one and small group basis. Many of my students have continued to study these subjects at degree level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is very student-centred, tailored to each student's individual needs. I tend to use a two-way interactive approach with a focus on problem areas and difficulties that the student may need to work through. I like to use a variety of teaching techniques such as discussions, white board and powerpoint slides.

I believe that in order to achieve success students benefit from learning good exam techniques and also by working through past exam papers and plenty of practice answering exam questions.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Kevin, a friendly and approachable full time Maths tutor with a patient and empathetic attitude.

I studied Maths at Uni after gaining 11 A grades at GCSE and 4 A grades at A level (Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry) and since then I`ve worked as both an Accountant and an Actuary.

I`m an intelligent guy with the ability to break things down to their simplest forms, but am also patient and a good listener with the ability to understand the way someone else thinks about a problem. I think its these qualities that combine to make me a natural tutor and time after time I`ve experienced that when people have a problem understanding something, its been me they`ve come to.

One of my recent reviews:

"My son was struggling with his AS level maths course having failed to keep up with the pace of new topics
in the Autumn term of 2012. Relatively late in the day before the exams in May 2013 we were fortunate
enough to get Kevin to help him and there was a complete transformation of his confidence and approach
to maths. Before Kevin's intervention my son had achieved U, D and E grades in various mock exams but
in test papers before the actual exams he was getting results right at the top of the grade spectrum. I cannot
recommend Kevin too highly for his technical expertise in the subject or for his organised and sympathetic
teaching approach which was essential in my son's case. Kevin brought my son order and confidence out of
confusion and despair"

Teaching Experience:

I`m experienced and happy to tutor at any level KS3, GCSE, AS and A-level, QTS Numeracy exam (in fact, adult learners in any field needing a maths/numeracy refresher).

I also tutor for business school and foundation year maths exams eg GMAT, NCUK IFY etc. (Please ask for rates for these exams).

Tutoring Approach:

Let me know what your aim is - whether it be to understand that topic/module you 'just cant get!', or to go through past papers, or to learn a whole course from start to finish, and between us we can agree the best approach for you, and prepare a plan of action to ensure you achieve your goals.

Personal Description:
I am a University of Leeds graduate from Cheltenham and studied joint honours Spanish & Chinese with a high 2:1 result. I have over 5 years of teaching experience of large classes, one-to-one tutoring, children, school students and adults.

I have lived in China for over 1.5 years, in both large and small cities, and in Spain twice for over a year in Granada and San Sebastian. For the past year I worked at an official language school in Tolosa, Spain teaching classes of spoken English and also doing a lot of private tutoring. I have worked in various English language schools and also taught Mandarin and Spanish.

I am currently working for a big charity but love to tutor in my spare time. I am passionate about learning and teaching languages and would love to have the opportunity to teach even more.

Please get in contact if you have any questions about me or what I can offer as a tutor.

Teaching Experience:

2009- I volunteered for 5 months as an English teacher in Zhangzhou City College in the south of China for a class of 40 university students. During this time, I created individual and stimulating lesson plans for my students and independently taught.

2010-2011 Over a period of a year in Shanghai, China, I independently undertook a job as an English tutor, teaching on a one to one basis. I helped my students progress and build on each class. I worked with students on a short and long term basis for up to 4 hours each per week.

2012-2013 I tutored GCSE Mandarin to a year 10 child (I was his only tutor and teacher), and he achieved fast progress along with an A* GCSE grade one year early.

2013-2014 I worked in The Official Language School of Tolosa, in Spain during this year teaching English to students of all ages and levels, independently teaching classes and tailoring classes to create stimulating lessons relevant and true to life.

2014- Teacher at the language school Inlingua (Cheltenham), working with foreign students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the only easy way to learn a language is to make it fun, so this is my main aim, using interesting and informative texts, games and various techniques whilst keeping the lessons relevant.

I would also tailor the classes to the individual and their personal aims and goals, whether it be grammar, speaking, writing, vocabulary, or colloquial language.

As a language learner myself, I strongly believe that individual mistakes are not what is important but confidence and fluency in talking and writing. I also maintain that as an English native, I can highlight the common mistakes and initial difficulties made in languages such as Mandarin and Spanish which I have made myself.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Personal Description:
I am a secondary school maths teacher in London, having obtained an MEng in Civil Engineering from Cambridge University, followed by a PGCE at Exeter University. I enjoy teaching students of all levels and demonstrating how maths can be a challenging and exciting subject, with many applications.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach a wide range of students, from year 7 to year 13 further mathematics A level students. I have experience teaching some students who struggle with mathematical concepts, including at GCSE level, as well as teaching exceptionally gifted students who are in need of a challenge.

As part of my teaching, I am also involved in producing and marking 11+ maths entrance exams for my school.

I am also a GCSE and A level examiner, marking student's exam papers, which gives an insight into mistakes made and good exam techniques.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that there is more to gain in mathematics than running through past papers and I therefore have a range of resources from my teaching that help to develop a better understanding of the subject and apply it in interesting ways. That being said, I also realise the importance of the exams facing students and I believe a mix of the two is important.

The approach varies with the purpose of the tutoring, whether it is preparation for exams or wanting to be stretched in the subject and I am happy to adapt to find a style that fits the tutee.
