Personal Description:
Hi there,

My name is Jean-Charles. I am a 29-year-old French male. I have been living, studying and working in the UK for more than two years. I worked as a chef two years ago, as a French assistant last year and as a trainee-teacher this year when studying the PGCE French with Spanish. I am now a qualified teacher and I work in a comprehensive school near Reading.
Before coming to the UK, I studied philosophy and French language and literature at the Université de Strasbourg. I have a very good knowledge of French literature and grammar and it has been very helpful to my past tutees.

I am easy-going and I adapt myself easily. One of my favourite hobbies is speaking foreign languages and discovering new cultures.

Teaching Experience:

In Reading:
I have been teaching French in a comprehensive school to pupils aged from 11 to 18.

In Liverpool:
I have been tutoring a mature student to improve her speaking from January 2012.
As part of my PGCE, I taught French from Y7 to Y13 and Spanish up to Y9 from October 2011 to 2012.

In Grimsby:
As a French assistant, from November 2010 to May 2011, I helped primary and secondary students with their French on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and I also taught lessons to whole classes.

In Bolton:
I taught French language -grammar and literature- to a mature-student retired from teaching from October 2009 to March 2010. (testimonial available)

In Strasbourg:
I gave lessons in French to a 16-year-old girl in Strasbourg in the summer 2010.
I also helped two primary school pupils with their homework from 2007 to 2011.

Tutoring Approach:

As I strongly believe that languages and cultures come together, I always strive to work on authentic material and I also give my tutees many opportunities to learn in out of tution context in order to develop their cultural knowledge.

However, for me the most important in teaching is to meet the needs of learners. Therefore, my priority is first of all to assess the needs of my tutees. Tutees may want to develop only some of the 4 skills: speaking, listening, reading, or writing, depending on the use they want to make of French. They also may have particular topics they want to work on, functions of their needs, projects or tastes.

This student-led approach must be carried on throughout the lessons. The role of the tutor is to maximise opportunities for the learner to discover things by themselves because this is the most efficient and enjoyable way to learn.

Last but not least, languages are interesting and fun at the same time. They develop thinking skills as well as they provide entertainment. My tutoring reflects this philosophy. This is why I always try to alternate entertainment and thinking time during the lessons.

The aim and purpose of a tutor is to widen the scope and horizons of student, to develop the need to think and to encourage the student to do better in life.

I do motivate my students to study for their own good. Sometimes by expecting them to study a lot more than they usually do.Students appreciate me more after they have improved their grades. I have a different approach for every student as every student is unique and must be looked at differently.

This is my perception about tutor. I mail video links for students to watch them and revise the studies after most tuition lessons.

Personal Description:
A graduate of Cambridge and Durham I have specialised in ancient languages and literature. While based in Durham I am currently completing a PhD in Old Norse literature at the Birkbeck College, University of London.

Teaching Experience:

As well as current private tutoring in English lit, Lang and Classics at all levels I am an undergraduate tutor at Durham University. I have strong experience helping students reach their full potential and gain the grades they need or higher. I have taught both online and in person, both at GCSE-adult. I was selected as an open day lecturer for Newnham college Cambridge in 2008 and I have attended several courses on lecturing in secondary and higher education both at Birkbeck and Oxford.

Tutoring Approach:

I seek to inspire my students with the same passion and interest I feel for language and literature, texts and contexts. I tailor my approach to the need of each student, but in general teach not by lecturing but by posing questions which lead the student to a greater understanding of text and context. I aim to show students how to enjoy the subject as well as teach them the means and methods to make their studying and writing easier. I have a great deal of experience helping students with exam and essay technique.

Personal Description:
I am a young full time, female PE teacher who has a 2.1 BA (Hons) degree in Sport and Social Science from the University of Bath. I qualified as a PE teacher for 11-18 years and completed my PGCE through the University of East Anglia. I also have a Masters Degree in Advanced Educational Practice; also achieved through the University of East Anglia. I love my job and particularly enjoy the theory aspects of PE.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience extends across 3 secondary schools. These include 2 local high schools in Suffolk as well as an extremely successful all girls grammar school in Southend. Currently I work in a large 11-18 school just outside of Ipswich. I am consistently judged as an outstanding teacher and am passionate about teaching and learning as well as my subject of PE. I am familiar with different exam boards and have privately tutored for about 6 months.

Tutoring Approach:

As an adaptable teacher I will adapt my tutoring to suit the needs of the pupil. My experience suggests however that the most effective, and preferential approach is to teach pupils aspects of their course through explanation, structured questioning, past exam questions and application as a written task and/or as a discussion. Essentially I aim to install self-assurance and knowledge into pupils so they feel able to answer all exam questions with confidence and correctly.

Please contact me to discuss additional mileage costs if you would prefer me to travel to you. Essentially I charge an additional 0.45p per mile from IP17. However, depending on the time of the session (particularly weekday evenings) this may instead be from IP5.

My approaches varies depending on the student's needs and learning style, as I beleive one-to-one teaching is unique and differs from one student to another. Personal Description:
I am a 22-year old student and have just completed my BA English degree, gaining an Upper Second Class honours. My degree course focused on a balanced variety of both English Literature and Language, and also covered the entire spectrum of English literature from Beowulf to Zadie Smith. I intend to begin an MA degree in Creative Writing in 2016, with aspirations to joining the media/journalism industries.

I am a reliable, conscientious young woman. I have previously worked in retail and in an office environment as a data entry processor; in both of these positions I have developed a strong understanding of what it means to provide an excellent service to customers.

I am currently available to tutor in the daytime during the summer vacation.

Teaching Experience:

So far I have worked with seven tutees aged between 5-19, tackling a wide range of issues.

Throughout my second year at Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge, I tutored a lower-sixth student in English twice a week. This involved hour-long study sessions focusing on my tutee's desire to develop her analytical skills and exam preparation.

During my first year at the University of Leicester I engaged in a 6-week volunteer scheme named Creative Writing in Primary Schools. With three of my peers, I researched, planned and gave 90-minute sessions to a class of Year 4 pupils at a local primary school once a week. Our role was to develop their knowledge of Creative Writing and to engage them in learning activities that would see them produce their own short stories. Characters and plot were explored, as well as traditional grammar and style activities.
(NB: Because of this activity, I have a DBS/CBR check)

Tutoring Approach:

I am very enthusiastic about the discipline of English Literature and Language, and would enjoy the opportunity to develop the vast array of analytical, reading, writing, communication and creative skills the study of English can offer to students.

I am flexible in my approach and am happy to work with tutees on any aspects of English that may be causing them difficulties, whether that be spelling or basic reading skills, to textual analysis and exam preparation. I would also encourage creativity and originality where appropriate, and guide tutees in both their academic and extracurricular reading.

Finally, I believe in a polite and respectful approach to tutoring. I understand that all children and young people have varying needs and learning styles, and I am happy to accommodate and support them throughout the tutoring process.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified secondary school teacher, but am keen to work with both primary and secondary school students to help them fulfil their potential and achieve the exam grades they deserve. I'm also very happy to work with casual learners and those just wanting to enhance their core English skills.

I have a recent enhanced DBS check (summer 2015) and can provide certification on request and am happy to provide tuition at my own home, the tutee's home or other mutually convenient locations.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified English Language, English Literature and Media Studies teacher and have over six years' experience in secondary schools across Yorkshire. I am familiar with and experienced in teaching a range of exam boards and specifications, including AQA and iGCSE (for English), as well as WJEC (for Media Studies).

I have a track record of improving pupils' progress throughout their GSCE and A-Level studies and teaching exam classes to students of a wide range of abilities. Throughout my teaching career, I have consistently ensured high numbers of students meet or exceed their predicted grades.

Tutoring Approach:

My main aim is to provide individual tuition that is tailored specifically to the ability and needs of each tutee. My approach to tutoring will therefore differ depending on the individual, however I always ensure I am friendly and approachable, treating all my pupils with respect and as independent learners.

I have access to a range of teaching resources, including past and mock examination papers to help students of all ages and abilities realise their full potential.
