Personal Description:
I have taught mathematics for nearly 20 years and enjoy keeping up to date with lesson delivery, maintaining a keen interest in how we learn mathematics. I a I now do some private tuition at home in addition to working in a secondary school. I am a positive forward thinking tutor and have a good sense of humour.
I am reliable and committed to my students' progress.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching full time for over 15 years with a careers worth of experience in secondary mathematics up to and including A levels.
I am currently employed to teach part time where my results are usually pleasing for my students. For instance, in 2011's performance management, 100% of students from a class surpassed their target levels significantly, including many with double and three times expected progress.
I also now teach privately for the rest of the week from my home (please view the map for location)
I have enjoyed teaching some very gifted students as well as those who find the subject quite a challenge.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach most levels of mathematics and use an intuitive approach wherever possible. It has been noted that I explain concepts quite clearly and students can be surprised at the ease with which they pick up previously difficult concepts. I

I also prepare students for exams and offer guidance on exam technique.

I use a mix of worksheets, discussion, web based work and text books. Past exam papers and examiners reports may be used for exam preparation.

Often I work to compliment a student's school mathematics, bringing them confidence and an increased ability to communicate and therefore participate in a classroom setting.

Personal Description:
I'm a 24 year old Spaniard with a degree in English and a degree in Spanish at the University of Salamanca (Spain) and a Masters on the teaching at secondary education. I'm very friendly and outgoing and I enjoy meeting people. I like reading, travelling, cooking and practising sports such as tennis, swimming and football. Cultural activities such as going to the theatre or enjoying live music is something I love, since I also play the guitar and I used to play the clarinet some years ago.

I live in Selly Oak, but I don't mind travelling for teaching. In that case central Birmingham would be great, although I could consider going to other places too (depending on availability).

Teaching Experience:

I have a more than 5 year experience teaching English and Spanish Grammar and Literature to GCSE, AS and A level and University students. I have also tutored some adult courses in Spain. I've also been an English teacher at the European College of Aeronautics (ADVENTIA) in Salamanca, Spain, during the 2009/2010 academic course. I've been in Birmingham since September 2010 and I am currently working as a Spanish Language Assistant at a Sixth Form College, preparing students for their A-level exams.

Tutoring Approach:

A professional and friendly approach that seeks the best way for the students to successfully make progress, adapting the lessons to their needs and abilities. For me, the most important thing is that students enjoy their lessons while practising all grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

Personal Description:
Our names are Mark and Maria. We own a language school in Bristol and we have just relocated to Milton Keynes where we have opened a new business focused on offering language tuition to children, teenagers and adults.

We are both language graduates. Mark has a BA (Hons) French & Italian - University of Leicester and MA Screen Translation Studies - University of Leeds. His mother tongue is English but both his French and Spanish are of a very high level. He is confident with his speaking skills and he is familiar with the latest teaching theories for language acquisition as well as the GCSE and A-Level requirements. Maria holds a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) - University of Bristol. We are incredibly driven and passionate about teaching languages and we very much enjoy working with young people.

Teaching Experience:

In the past we have successfully offered tuition for English, Spanish, French and Catalan as foreign languages in our premises in Bristol and we would like to let you know that we would be more than happy to assist your students to make their first steps in learning a foreign language or just willing to study their foreign languages further.

Tutoring Approach:

We understand how important it is to start learning a language from an early age, as children are more capable of absorbing new sounds and structures at a significantly faster pace. We are also aware of their great enthusiasm and curiosity, which allow them to try to speak without inhibitions. Also, we know that an inspiring teacher can enhance pupils' potential and make them succeed at whatever is their goal : GCSEs or A levels or just people willing to communicate in other languages and being more cultural aware of the world's diversity.

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Niall and I'm currently working for a reputable, local, financial institution in Swindon. I graduated in 2010 in Economics at the University of Reading. My passion to teach started when I noticed younger family members were struggling at school, mainly in Maths. I tutored them all through KS1 - KS3 and GCSE level where they gained exceptionally high grades.

Teaching Experience:

Taught Maths to students aged 11-18 at a secondary school whilst in my second year at university.
Taught Maths and English to students in Turkey at a primary school and secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

Studying and revising shouldn't be a chore and I believe I can bring to life my subjects, even economics (nicknamed the "dull science"). Everyone learns differently and there are many methods to ensure the student is on the right learning curve.

Personal Description:
I have extensive knowledge of dyslexia, co-occurring difficulties and academic mentoring and an Honours Degree and Post Grad Cert. in Psychology. My very varied educational experience allows me to offer excellent educational support to a wide variety of people. My degree in Psychology was gained in the University of Manchester in 2000 where I returned to education as a mature student and my Post Graduate Certificate in 2006 from Plymouth when I was even more mature (!). I have three children all of whom were home educated for a varying proportion time and are now pursuing varied University study. I am friendly approachable and enthusiastic about supplying specialized dyslexia support and mentoring. Psychology is my particular interest but I have a passion for education in general. I believe that education should be enriching and enjoyable and seek to engender this in my students.

Teaching Experience:

I have substantial experience in supporting learners with dyslexia in 1:1 tuition and teaching study skills to all ages and have worked previously for the Open University as an Associate Lecturer for a level 2 Psychology degree course. I have experience of explaining often complex information in a form accessible to a wide range of people in many differing contexts. My degree and post graduate studies have involved a high level of statistics and maths, coupled with my support work in schools this gives me an insight into the difficulties face by those struggling in maths and the means to help them be overcome.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe education should be interest led and that people are naturally curious creatures. With this in mind tutoring should be based on igniting an interest in a subject and feeding that interest. I do this in a structured, student led manner, encouraging the students to explore their own interests with in the frameworks of their course areas and with academic rigour. This encourages students to become confident autonomous learners and realise their full potential.
