Personal Description:
Hi all, I'm Ben a 26 year old full time private tutor. I've been working as a private tutor now for 5 years and they have flown by! Tutoring is not just a job to me it's a passion. I'm a laid back guy who's friendly and easy to talk to, I pride myself in my interpersonal skills as well as my academic knowledge I believe both are equally important for tutors to have.

I graduated from Kings College Cambridge University in June '08 with a B.A hons in Natural Sciences, having attended the Brooksbank school and 6th form where I achieved 3 A's and 2 B's at A-level in Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and General Studies. I have been employed by Calderdale Council since July '08 working with children and young people in various roles. I started tutoring as a hobby as it has always given me great satisfaction and enjoyment as well as keeping me in touch with subject that I intend to get back into one day. In June '10 I left my post with Calderdale Council and now work full time as a tutor doing a job I adore.

For my hobbies I enjoy swimming, playing football, DJing, gigging and playing in bands.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring professionally since January '09 and in the period until June'13 I have had the privilege of tutoring more than 100 students spread across all the subjects that I offer. I have taught all abilities ranging from oxford/cambridge applicants to students just wanting to pass the subject, no matter what you're level is I'll work as hard as I can to insure you get best results possible. I have worked full time as a tutor since September '10 meaning that I have been able to dedicate all my time, effort and focus into making sure that all my students excel.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my experience I have found that students learn much better when they are relaxed and comfortable. This has led me to adopt a laid back and informal approach to ensure that the learning environment maximises the tutees ability to learn. I understand that everyone has individual needs and learns differently and because of this I am very adaptable in the way I teach. I focus my lessons on two main areas: the first involves making sure the tutee has a firm understanding of the topic and all the principles that are involved within it removing any misconceptions that would hamper further progress. The second area works on the tutees technique working with them to ensure they can understand, digest and answer questions.

Due to my passion for teaching it gives me the drive to go the extra mile to make sure that all my students fulfill their aspirations. I have helped my previous students with University applications, coursework, interviews, CV's and job applications. Due to working full time as a tutor now I am able to offer constant support for all my tutees so I am able to help whenever they need it.

Personal Description:
Bonjour! My name is Fabienne, I am a native French speaker. I have been a private tutor for 4 years in Cardiff and enjoy helping individual students realise their potential and improve their grades. I am friendly and approachable and can make learning fun.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching French for the past 4 years, face to face and via Skype (online). I have tutored GCSE and A Level students to help them prepare their exams. I have also tutored mature students/adults to improve their spoken French and grammar.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it is essential to identify the person`s level, the reason why they are learning the subject, their learning styles and their interests in order to avoid getting confused later. I then suggest a `learning plan` and discuss with the students how they would like to learn and what level they would like to achieve.

Whether you need help with French pronunciation, general conversation, grammar, or just a confidence boost or maybe a bit of everything, I would be happy to help!

My schedule is flexible.

Mark student's class work coursework, record their grades and plan based on weak and or strong areas identified
Ensure that students work to their full potential
Work closely with department heads and head of the years that I teach to monitor the student development in different areas

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is an investigative and supportive. ie their is a lot of logics or knowledge that I child sometimes laready have, by questioning sometimes these will come out. That way the child will remember the information fo a longer time as he/she contributed to the answer. She/he feels valued and a part of the teaching and learning process.
Each child I tutor is alway given a diagnostic test. From the test I would do a Individual Learning Plan. During tutoring as I identify weak areas I address them individually. I see education as a completed chain link, that is if a child is lacking in certain background knowledge, they will find it difficult to move forward effectively with their education. Unless these weak areas are address and their knowledge concretize they find it difficult to move on.
Parent's feedback is apart of this process and children must be praised throughout their learning, when neccessary and this needs to be done in context.

Personal Description:
Graduated at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2011, I'm skilled in traditional fine art skills (such as drawing, painting, sculpting, and mixed media) as well as in digital media (including photography, animation, and editing).

I am practicing fine artist with previous exhibitions in Hungary, Austria and the UK. Due to my studies I have a deep knowledge in history of art, architecture, design and other related subjects.
As I graduated in General Set Design, I'm interested in theatre and film design, and my credit includes participation in award-winning productions (such as the Berlin Film Award winner, the 'Only the wind' and the 'Othello' 2009 in the Vgsznhz Theatre Hungary).

Teaching Experience:

I gained experience in teaching through hosting workshops in various cities in Hungary as well as in London (UK).
These workshops involved life drawing, face-paint, puppet-making, theatre-design and painting (for example on the Caledonian Road Festival 2012, and the Bksmegye Spring/Summer Festival 2008). These activities involved teaching children in a wide age range (from 3-19) as well as adults. I am currently undertaking a teaching assistance course with a secondary school placement and am a Session Leader with the Fabelist Art Collective in an art workshop for children aged between 7 and 14.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm interested in one-to-one tutoring as I believe that a tutor has to have an understanding in the student's skills, interests and current level to be able to provide help.

It might be just for a temporary occasion of getting on with a project or a long-term development (let it be an aim to get good results in school, or to get into Foundation or Art University), the most important for me is to help developing skills with offering a wide range of art techniques and ways of seeing.

I think it is essential to find a personal way to each person to be able to develop their skills.

Personal Description:
I am an English language tutor living in Beeston, Nottingham.

Teaching Experience:

I am TEFL qualified and I am a native English speaker. I have taught English language in Spain and in the UK, and I am presently working independently as a one to one tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

In general my approach is to focus on grammar and conversation skills. My students often comment that I have the knack of making grammar an interesting topic; something that they have not found with previous teachers. I think that focussing on conversation is also a vital part of language teaching as it drills the students core language and helps develop new language that pertains to the students own spheres of interest.

Of course, I am happy to tailor my lessons to your particular needs and goals, including:

Conversational English
English for the workplace
Academic English (proofreading essays, assignments, presentations, etc)
English for EFL exams (IELTS, TOEFL, etc)
English for fun and travel

Just let me know!

If you are studying science, you should know that I have a science degree and am conversant with a broad range of sciences and so should be particularly useful to you.

If you want to set out a learning plan, we can talk about your specific goals and arrange a programme. Alternatively, we can be more spontaneous and simply make arrangements as we go.

I am happy to teach one to one, pairs and even small groups. I can teach from my home or, if you prefer, travel to your residence. I charge 20 per hour for one to one and 30 per hour for pairs.

Please contact me via this site and I will happily discuss any details with you.

Personal Description:
I am 24 years old and extremely passionate about Mathematics. I have just completed a teacher training course at the University of Manchester. I am currently employed as a maths lecturer. I firmly believe in the advantages of private tutoring and I have found in my seven years tutoring, that pupils respond well to me because of my age. I have a very individual approach to teaching and I have had very positive results. I provide all learner resources and tailor my lessons to the national curriculum.
Students receive reports termly, are assessed monthly and set assignments weekly. Or lessons are tailored to individual needs.
I believe in engaging my students and encouraging an individual approach to learning where a learner develops responsibility for their own learning. Despite the fact that I am very young I am highly motivated, a good role model and a very high achiever.

I have a BSc in Mathematics (2.1) from the University of Warwick. At A level I achieved grades AAAAa at A level including Mathematics and further Mathematics.

I am madly passionate about mathematics and I want to share the enjoyment I find in mathematics with young people of all ages. I was involved in a Hackney-wide scheme tutoring students in GCSE mathematics for local secondary schools. Whilst at college I set up a scheme to assist GCSE students studying mathematics which was very successful and very popular.

I love children and teenagers and working with them and I have also been a peer mentor and further education ambassador, working with young people and encouraging them to consider further education.
I am also quite willing to teach adult learners as I love mathematics and will teach it to any person of any age. I have taught for the maths equivalency exams. I am CRB checked and can provide references from teachers and tutors as well as parents of tutees to support my character.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring Approach:
I have a relaxed but focused approach to teaching and learning. My students find it very easy to relate to me, I am always available to answer a pupil`s needs and my students regularly contact me by phone, email or text with their problems. I do not have a set method of tutoring but try to adapt to the individual student`s needs. This could include developing visual aids, including e-learning, posters and colour coded learning materials to increase interest as well as audio aids.
I charge 30 an hour and I also offer group tuition. Prices are negotiable for larger groups and are usually inclusive of travel costs and other expenses.

I will travel to all tutoring locations at times that are convenient for the learners (mostly evenings and weekends).
Style/focus and pace of the lessons are fully negotiated with tutees before we commence the lessons. I recommend at least weekly lessons.

Personal Description:
At present, I am teaching in Stoke on trent and do home tutoring evenings and weekends.
I enjoy supporting the students in my care on a one to one basis to realise their set targets as prescribed in their in their Education Health Plans or National curriculum . I am a qualified Teacher with experience in teaching students with special educational needs including autism.
My main subject area is Science ( Biology and/ or Biology with Chemistry).
I also work as an examiner, marking GCSE A2/AS Biology, International A'Levels and therefore familiar with preparing students to excel.
In adition, I have professional expertise in teaching students with additional learning needs including Entry Level 1.

Teaching Experience:

Prior to my my current teaching post I tauht at the Hackney Community College for 2 years as a Specialist Visiting Tutor. I have progressed many students to realise their annual targets and so prepared young adults for life.
I have delivered courses in Life Skills, Communication and social engagement as well as Music and Crafts.
I have taught English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) at Entry Level 1 guided learners become confident in their expressive and written English.
In the past, have long term experience as a Teaching Assistant;supporting many Colleague teachers to deliver a range of courses at Primary, Secondary and Further Education Levels.
In Teaching , I progress my students by focusing on small improvements in skills learned day to day by my students and planning around these gains to achieve further goals and success. Working in small groups or on one to one basis with students allows me to effectively communicate with my learners and help meet their needs.
When required, I use Makaton for emphasis and allow as much time as time as my students need to respond. This has reduced feelings of anxiety when responding to questions in some students.
I am skilled at adopting the right teaching style for each student. I seek at all times to empower my students to solve problems by encouraging critical thinking and research. I guide my learners to gain confidence in attaining their targets using a range of classroom and outdoor activities that make them become interested and wanting to know more.
Providing one to one support places me in a key position to emphasize important points. Whole class activities enable me encourage student led initiatives which enable students take ownership of the knowledge.

I have also worked in the past as a paraeducator supporting students with severe to mild learning disability and autism use the i-pad as a learning and communicative tool. I have led my students to express their thoughts and wishes. A myriad of learning opportunities open up daily to learners through active engagement using instructional technology eg. I-Pad, IWB etc.. It has been awesome to be part of generating meaning and the mastery of Life Skills for the disabled by making learning fun.
I have taught students with SEN to read, progressing them from picture recognition to recognise frequently used text and ultimately to read.
I enjoy teaching because it gives me a lot of responsibility and personal satisfaction to have been of help to others.
Safeguarding my learners is a key part or my teaching including managing challenging behaviour. I provide closed optioned of choice and use effective communication to encourage students to take responsibility for their learning leading to a reduction in challenging behavior and related incidents.
I provide training for my support staff and guide them on best practices in supporting learners, leading by example.

Teaching has fascinated me ever since I was posted to teach at Hohoe E.P Secondary as an unqualified teacher on leaving College in 1989.This was my National service. At the time, the school had a large student population with few teachers. On arrival at post, I immediately set to work on innovatively teaching Mathematics and Science with a pupil centred approach to the first year group. This produced independent learners who were able to make good progress through independent study and so produced good exams results and became useful citizens.
My interest in formal teaching started when; I enrolled at the University of Cape Coast to sharpen the teaching methodologies handed down to me by my own tutors. I explored the use of many other teaching strategies by the end of my study. At Deks Preparatory School, I fine tuned the use of student centred strategies that produced very confident learners by exploring students' entry behavior and building on the previous knowledge of students. I encouraged active participation of learners in the teaching-learning process using a lot of hands on activities. This created opportunities for students to change or modify their views. This led to greater understandings and built the confidence of my pupils. These learners went further to apply knowledge gained to differing situations and became great achievers and successful people in the community later in life. I use feedback from learners and my colleagues to make valuable changes that improve my teaching.
Prior to my employment at the Brooks Special School as a Special Needs, Teaching Assistant, I was an accomplished support worker with a good understanding of autism syndrome disorder. This enabled me expertly support the learning of children with severe learning disability and autism, who may exhibit challenging behaviour. On a 1:1 basis I supported the Class teacher interpret the National curriculum in a creative manner using Jolly Phonics, Makaton sign language for emphasis as well as fun and humour. Learners responded positively to instruction by daily doing their routines of work; they maintained longer eye contact and participated in the social and academic processes of the school. I kept pupils with a short attention span on their work by using a 'Now' and 'Next' card to refocus learners on the task with persuasion and time outs when necessary. Learners achieved most of the targets stipulated in their individual Education plans. I have learned to plan the daily activities of learners in such a manner that all daily activities including circle time activities were geared towards realising a set goal of the individual learner.
I supported my Class teacher ensure the welfare of the Pupils by providing expert support to pupils who have epilepsy attacks and with administration of medication. I made sure the learning environment was safe and removed any objects with which pupils may cause harm; and never leaving pupils unsupervised. This resulted in less incidents and happy pupils. Further, on a daily basis, I supported the teacher to provide parents and stakeholders with information on the learners, this kept all aware and supporting the events that affect the pupils. Parents felt respected and involved in the matters of their children. This enabled them share information with the teacher which helped me as a Teaching assistant provide an enabling person centred support which increased the self worth of the learners due to greater independence.
I taught Biology at At Aggrey Memorial Secondary for four years. I made science relevant to my students by pointing out the life applications of the concepts under study. I also used local examples wherever possible. I used outings and field trips to augment the class activities and laboratory work. This made the study of Sciences enjoyable for the students. I am therefore skilled at engaging my students with the Natural world and so generating in them interest and excitement in Science as well as an awareness of the environment. This led to more students opting to do Science. I am accomplished at planning well in advance with stakeholders and requisitioning materials that I would need in good time. I ensured safety in the laboratory by testing out apparatus to ensure its working and to determine how long an activity would take. Also, I prepared pupils in advance with tutorials before any laboratory activity. I crafted my own test Items that were valid and reliable when required.
At Aggrey Memorial I was Form Tutor of Final Year Mixed Class of boys and girls. I encouraged students having difficulty studying and provided help with revision for exams such as extra classes.
Having received training for this with Creative Support in the use of hoisting equipment, I routinely support students with personal care needs in a safe manner that takes the privacy and other preferences of the individual into account this empowered the students to study in dignity and with enjoyment. Parents are also happy to find out that the learning environment is not only stimulating for work but also clean and safe.
I am continually learning skills of boosting pupils' self esteem, confidence and independence. Inexpressing myself non-verbally, I simplify communication by the use of PECS and frequent repetition of words and short phrases rather than long sentences .
The use of a variety of approaches to reach out to pupils has effectively helped diffuse many problematic situations and protected children from undue stress or harm. In this respect, I have used fun and humour to de-escalate pupils or gain the attention of learners rather than the use of physical intervention strategies. My experiences at the Brooks Special School and Hackney Community College have enriched my insights into strategies of inclusion and integration of pupils with Special educational Needs SEN in mainstream schools. In addition to English, I speak and write German and a Ghanaian language.

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt a student centered approach to teaching. This implies what the student has to say or already knows is important! This gives me a foundation to build on.
I probe learners previous knowledge extensively and plan further learning around these. I use testing , hands on work and activities to determine the understanding or level at which my students are performing. I endeavor to make the learning experience fun for the learner and enjoyable; working from the known and familiar facts to the unknown.
The students' intersts and learning targets are always taken into account in planning for learning.
Whenever possible, I employ a Constructivist methodology of teaching to enable my learners apply knowledge to different facts ie. solving problems independently.
I use discussions widely and in my class the pupil is King.

Personal Description:
My name is Dora, I am 19 years old and am based in Newquay, Cornwall. I've been registered blind since birth, but I don't let this stand in the way of my goals. I have come here to study A-levels at Truro College in order to earn a degree in English language and literature from a British university, ideally one of the more prestigious universities.
Teaching is something I have always been passionate about. Besides the two languages listed above, I can also offer Hungarian, as I am originally from Hungary. Growing up with three languages, I gained native fluency in English, Hungarian and GErman, and speak all three with native accents.
I have just graduated from a grammar school for the German nationality in Hungary, where various subjects, including history, geography and even maths, were taught in German, we even studied German literature.

Whether you are a complete beginner or wishing to brush up on your skills, I can assist you in all areas of language learning, with a particular focus on speaking, pronunciation, and accent reduction. I am also happy to help you prepare for your German GCSE, A-Level or other qualifications and exams. If you're a foreigner working/studying in England, I'd be more than happy to help you with every aspect of the English language.

Teaching Experience:

Despite my young age, I have plenty of experience teaching languages at all levels, both online and in person. Whilst at school, I would help out fellow students with their homework, I even tutored my former teacher's twelve-year-old daughter. I also have two brothers, who I used to help a lot.

Tutoring Approach:

Unlike so many language teachers, I believe that while mastering any language does indeed take a lot of effort and determination, it is certainly possible to learn to speak like a native speaker. Furthermore, truly acquiring a language takes way more than studying a grammar book or memorising words for vocabulary tests, therefore I will never expect my students to memorise a certain number of words/grammar rules for lessons, since all that does is add unnecessary pressure and stress to pupils, and, let's face it, make them hate languages. That being said, I am more than happy to prepare you for tests and exams, but I will do it in a fun way and make sure you do not forget everything after your test/exam.

I will never judge you for making mistakes or needing help with a particular word/phrase, nor will I ever emphasise how what you have just said is so and so wrong. Instead, I will immediately show you what you should have said and give an explanation if needed.
Feel free to ask me for help with homework. Whilst I certainly won't do it for you, I will give you all the help you need to do it yourself.

I also believe that everyone should have the right to learn a language, so I am willing to adjust prices where necessary.
