Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic mathematician with an ability to communicate well. I have a first class degree in Maths and Chemistry. I would like to help students by either guiding and supporting them in their exam preparation or by developing their confidence and increasing their skillbase in maths.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in a large comprehensive school in Leeds teaching 11-18yrs for the past seven years. I have experience of taking students through SATs, GCSEs, and A-Levels both in school and in private tuition with excellent results. In addition to this, I am an examiner for AQA and Edexcel exam boards, marking Alevel papers. As such, I am very well qualified to help students develop a more effective exam technique that maximises their marks.

Tutoring Approach:

I give one hour or two hour lessons which can either be in support of, and running along side, the student's school work or individually tailored lessons covering specific areas of weakness which students find particularly helpful in preparation for exams.

Personal Description:
I am an MBBS doctor and have worked at St Georges Medical University of London. I am a trained PBL / CBL tutor and conducted tutorials at this university. I have completed my Diploma in Proofreading from NCC college of learning and work as a proofreader aswell.

I am interested in teaching profession. I have almost seven year experience of private and online tuitions of Biology, Combined Science to the students of GCSE and GCE and Anatomy to the students of MBBS.

I am very passionate about teaching. My teaching techniques differ with students. I know how to help weak students by giving small assessments. However, I don't believe in passive Learning, I want my students to be Active learner. So, my lesson is not based on just explaining topics but, I make sure that students understand that and do some work their-self.

I do different kind of topic based activities which enhance student's confidence and they can write their answers in more depth. Moreover, revision sessions are the prime importance of my lesson. I do believe, if students act according to my suggestions, the way I guide them, they will get high scores.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Biology to GCSE and College level students in groups and individuals. From 1997-continue. I am aware of all exam board (AQA, OCR & EDEXCEL)

I do Problem and Case base learning at St Georges University of London (First, Second & T year)

I have taught Biology to AS/A2 level student in May-June 2009 - continue

I have taught Pediatrics, Obstetrics to a student of imperial college through face to face in 2009- continue.

I have good experience of teaching and supervising OSCE and have taught this to student of st Georges University of London in Feb-June 2009.

I have taught Pathology to a student of US Via correspondence in 2009.

I have interest & experience of teaching in the following areas;
GCSE, AS / A2 (GCE) levels, Physical Education (Academic side) & IB:
Biology
Combined Science
Applied Science

MBBS, Nursing, and Physiotherapy Degree Levels:
Medicine
Gynecology /Obstetrics
Pediatrics
Anatomy
Pathology
Physiology
Microbiology
Pharmacology
Forensics

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor I elicit response that demonstrates understanding. During teaching I create the space for students to learn. For Instance, the art of my teaching is to ask students to demonstrate what they already know about the topic because it helps students in building their understanding based on their knowledge.

I can teach either face to face or through correspondence and I give students time to learn at their own pace. I always ensure that students have displayed their understandings to me. I am approachable and friendly so students can pay attention and feel they can ask question.

In addition, I also provide small assessments to assess the outcome of my teaching and student's understanding and their performance

I help my students in several forms. The most common of which are:
Preparing Notes and Handouts
Preparing Model Answers
Marking Work
Providing Mcqs for degree students
Helping in course work

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Spanish teacher and completed my PGCE in Spanish with French at Newcastle University in 2009. I then went on to gain Qualified Teacher Status in 2010. All of my teaching qualifications are up to date and can be produced, along with my current CRB form, in the first lesson.

I am fluent in Spanish and studied Law with Spanish at Nottingham University. This involved living for a year in Valencia which gave me a wonderful insight into Spanish culture. I then went on to spend a year teaching English in Peru, a country which I have returned to visit several times. I have also spent time living in Honduras where I undertook voluntary work in a Primary School. These experiences have made Spanish one of my great passions and I hope to pass this on to my students.

After working for several years as a Languages teacher in the North East, in December 2013 I decided to leave my post in a South Tyneside school to spend more time with my young daughter. This move will now enable me to spend more time on Private Tuition.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2009 I have worked as a Languages teacher in a number of schools in the North East. My responsibilities have included:
- Teaching Spanish at Key Stage 3 and at GCSE and A level
- Writing my own Schemes of Work
- Conducting and marking GCSE written and speaking controlled assessments
- Teaching all aspects of Spanish grammar at AS and A2 level
- Teaching Cultural topics for A2 AQA syllabus

Private Tuition:

Main highlights include:

- Tutoring a student who needed to re-sit her A2 Spanish paper to attend the University of her choice. This student was successful in her re-sit and has since gone on to study Spanish at University.

- Tutoring an English speaking student who had lived in Tenerife and was unable to study Spanish at his school on relocation to the North East. I solely tutored him through the AQA AS course in which he gained a grade A at the age of 13.
I subsequently tutored him throughout the whole of the A2 course, including both cultural topics.

Tutoring Approach:

I am extremely patient and considerate and always strive to get the best from my students. In my approach to exam preparation, I believe in the importance of consolidating learning through self study, homework and past exam papers.

(Please note, the below rates are based on the student travelling to my home. I am also happy to travel to the student and a reasonable rate for travel will be negotiated for travel time and expenses).

Personal Description:
Hi,
I enjoy teaching and researching. Currently, I am working as a researcher at the university.
My area of expertise includes, Biology, Maths, Chemistry and Pharmacology.
In my quest of higher education currently I am working as a research Scientist in molecular pharmacology, and cell biology. My project is associated with Lister Hospital, Stevenage, UK.

Teaching Experience:

Visiting Lecturer at the university level From last 3 years. Teaching students at the university level theoretically as well as wet lab experiments. I had 6 Nuffield bursary students to teach in the university in last 2 years. All of them are very competent and few of them went to imperial collage, cambridge, oxford and kings for the graduation.

Tutoring Approach:

If a student is not have an interest and intellectual in to the subject, I take it as a challenge. I prefer to correlate the tedious concept of science with the normal day to day life and give a flavor of importance or demand of a particular subject.
Give me an opportunity to introduce myself and I am confident that I will not disappoint you. So far, none of my student left my tuition and stayed with me for longer.

Personal Description:
I am a French student. I graduated in Political Science in 2010 and I am currently a first year PhD student in cultural policies at the University of Glasgow. My thesis will deal with French cultural diplomacy since the end of World War II.
On a more personnal level, I am interested in art in general: I especially love Literature and cinema and I am a fanatic of musical theatre, even though I cannot sing a note!
My other hobbies are writing and traveling.

Teaching Experience:

I was a tutor in my hometown of Lyon (France) last school year and I taught a wide range of subjects such as French, English, History or Maths to students aged 11 to 15.

Tutoring Approach:

My previous experience of private tutoring made me develop my pedagogical skills, which I had never really had to use before. As I was new to tutoring I was a bit anxious at first but it turned out easier than I expected and my students didn't seem traumatized by me either. I am friendly but focused on work and methodology.

Since this is private tuition, I always try my best to adapt to my pupil's needs and personnality in order to offer him or her the best possible service. I constantly make the effort to acknowledge the fact that what seems obvious to me is not necesarily so for others and I always encourage my students to ask questions whenever they don't understand something. I'd rather explain one point several times than leaving it uncleared. As often as I can, I also tell students not to fear to make mistakes since it part of the learning process, and what makes teachers useful. In addition to academic knowledge as such, helping students to grow self confident in the subject(s) I teach is one of my priorities.

Besides, I pay much attention to communication with parents, since it seems important to me to hear what they have to say about their child and exactly what they expect form me.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Cambridge where I read Economics and have over 600 hours of tutoring experience.
I studied Economics, Mathematics and Modern History for A-Level, and English Literature at AS-Level, achieving A-grades in all of them.

I worked for nearly two years at the FSA, working on financial regulation and Economic Risk and then worked as an Economic Advisor to an MP where I focussed on Economics. I stood for Parliament last year.

I have continued tutoring due to my love of teaching and I believe that it benefits both me, and the student.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 200 hours of experience in preparing students for University- helping students with their personal statements and interview technique. I have also worked for Oxbridge Applications and have been trained extensively in mock interviews, preparing for the TSA test and how to improve self confidence, interview skills and writing skills.

I have over 600 years of experience in tutoring A-Level Economics in the last four years alone (although I have tutored since 2010). I have helped students from different backgrounds and achievement levels and have received positive feedback.

"Resham tutored my son over 18 months whilst he was studying for his A level in Economics. At the time my son started his tuition, he was probably a borderline A/B student . Over time this translated into him achieving an A* in his Economics paper at A level, including 100% in one of his essay papers.
I have no doubt this was as a result of engaging Resham as his teacher, and would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending her as a tutor. She will get you results!"

"Resham has not only thoroughly prepared me for the demands of my AS economics course but she has also helped me to delve further into economics and develop my deeper understanding and interest"

"My child got 3A*s including 100% on one of his economics papers, so a massive thanks is due to you"

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing when tutoring a student is to be patient and kind as no student benefits from an environment in which they are made to feel stupid or slow. In fact, the problem is often the way students are taught and so I try to make lessons as interactive as possible to ensure that the student really understands what I teach them.

I believe that it is important to tailor the Tuition classes to the needs of the individual student, in order to help students realise their full potential. Students learn in different ways and so it is important to recognise that the method that works for one student, might not work for another.

I like to sit-down with students to establish what they are hoping to achieve, and where their strengths and weaknesses lie in the subject. That way I can ensure that the lessons are as helpful as possible for the student as I try to help the student achieve their goals.

For Long-Term students, I have found that it works best to track the lesson plans according to what has been taught in school during the week. This allows me to help students to to ensure that any misunderstandings are dealt with quickly so that they can build on this knowledge in the next week's lessons at school.

For students close to Exams, I focus more on the concepts that are fundamental to the subject to boost the chance of gaining high marks in the exam. I also focus on teaching exam technique.

Personal Description:
I am a well humoured and easy going with a keen interest in Art, Craft and Design who likes to keep up to date with the latest trends in many aspects of design from Jewellery to Furniture. I have a bachelors degree in Silversmithing and Metalwork and am currently working towards a masters degree in Education.

Teaching Experience:

I have just completed my forth full time year in teaching mainstream secondary school Design and Technology. I also have 3 years experience teaching A-level Design and Technology at a large sixth form college and GCSE Design and Technology in a Pupil Referral Unit for boys with behaviour difficulties and SEN (including Aspergers, Autism and Dyslexia.) At the Pupil Referral Unit I also began a morning literacy programme to improve the reading skills of students with primary school level abilities to great success. During my teaching training I also worked in a mainstream secondary school and a grammar school. The majority of my tutoring experience is with Primary age students covering 11+ exam entrance including verbal reasoning, english and maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a pupil focused tutor who believes that a variety of short, varied activities keeps students focused, productive and able to learn more effectively. My experience with SEN students has made me patient and believe that the key to successful tutoring is being well resourced. I undertake a limited amount of tutees in order to ensure increased availability for my tutees and to ensure that I am focused on the individuals I tutor and their needs. Above all I believe the students need constant positive reinforcement to increase motivation, self belief and therefore success.

Personal Description:
I am a recently retired Clinical Scientists (registered). I am married with a son and I am a youthful 67 year old with an 8 years old son! We are a non smoking family. My involvement with "mathematics", at various levels, dates back to when I left secondary school (Blackpool) in 1964 and worked for the Civil Service for 5 years. I was in an accounts division and passed two additional maths (and eventually English!) O'Levels via evening classes as well as enjoying the 60s and playing bass guitar in local groups. I took a 1 year full time A''Level course (Maths, Further Maths and Physics) and subsequently read for a Mathematics degree (Physics subsid.) at the University of Nottingham (1970-73). During this time, I had 3 vacation studentships with different departments of the Scientific Civil Service. After graduating, I worked for around 15 years as a computer programmer / analyst during which time I passed an HND in Computer Studies (University of the South Bank, London). Although I was 40 years old when I was made redundant from a communications company, I decide to make a significant career change and return to my "roots" and look for scientific work where my mathematical skills would be better used. After 2 years as a Medical Laboratory Scientific Officer in the lung function laboratory at the Royal Brompton, I had the tools and experience to apply for a research post in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Post Graduate Medical School (RPGMS, Hammersmith Hospital).

I retired in 2014 after 25 years as a researcher / Clinical Scientist at the RPGMS and Royal London. A large part of my research involved mathematical analysis of breathing patterns and flow-volume curves. This involved developing techniques and algorithms for alternative methods of assessing "lung function". I published many papers in international medical journals and all included a significant maths / stats content. During this time, I took evening classes obtaining additional A' Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Statistics and then read for an M Sc in General Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Kings College London. In 2005, my portfolio was reviewed by the Health Professions Council and I registered as Clinical Scientist, which is a protected title, The main reason for the additional qualifications was my passion for learning and the thrill of sitting examinations and testing myself. The addition A'Levels and M. Sc. were taken for the challenge and pleasure and were not directly relevant to my career. One important reason for offering private tuition is my love of teaching / learning and I miss my close involvement with the "sciences". I have been accepted as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) ambassador and I have an enhanced DBS check certificate.

Teaching Experience:

Although, I do not have formal teaching qualification and I only started offering private tuition at the beginning of 2015, I am a patient person who has tutored a range of tutees from Common Entrance Exam level to adult learner including CGSE students for both Mathematics and Statistics.

However, my "teaching" roles / experiences go back to the mid 60s helping friends struggling with the Civil Service maths entrance exams and later, post graduation, I taught maths, unpaid, to several children of friends as well as adult friends and colleagues who needed to obtain better qualification. My research positions included (i) formal teaching / lecturing roles at all levels e.g. work experience students, medical / nursing students, visiting medics, junior members of the lab staff as well as registrars and consultants; (ii) presenting the research at local, national and international meetings and (iii) giving guest lectures on B. Sc. and M Sc. courses.

In my research / technical support work, I found particular pleasure explaining to children and parents the purpose and science that underpinned the tests and the analysis and interpretation of the results. This was a unique experience for almost all of them. It gave them and me a lot of pleasure and improved the success problems. In my own time, I helped patients, some who missed a lot of school time due to their problems, with both school work in the sciences and others with projects related to the maths and biology of their respiratory problems. Invariably, they ended up knowing more than their teachers!

Tutoring Approach:

As George Orwell never said "All tutees are not the same but some are more different than others".

I have a variety of approaches, depending on factors such as (i) whether the tutee needs teaching or revision; (ii) the number of lessons the tutee can fit in before the exam; (iii) their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their interests; (iv) whether the tutee is struggling to keep up or a flyer needing to ensure an A* (v) the length of the sessions 45-90 mins and whether it is one or two session a week and (vi) the work they are able to do between sessions.

However, there are aspects that are common to all tutees: before starting the lessons, I am happy to meet for a chat (no charge) to spend as long as necessary clarifying important issue such as (i) which board, level and paper they will be sitting; (ii) the text book they use and which parts of the syllabus have been covered and whether any need revising or explaining and (iii) wherever possible, obtaining suggestions and feedback from their teachers including where marks had been lost in recent exams.

Other aspects of my approach include (i) the tutee attempting appropriate questions / papers from other boards to encourage and foster "thinking outside the box" and, thus, to be prepared for questions that do not fit the usual mode; (ii) e-mailing questions of papers in advance of session to allow adequate time for preparation; (iii) feeding back how sessions have gone and suggestions for changes and being available between session via e-mail; (iv) moving up and down the difficulty ladder depending on the progress; (v) working on exam technique and teaching how to not misinterpret questions, sometimes, badly written; (vi) preparing tutees for difficult topics about to be taught at school, to ensure they get the most out of upcoming lessons; (vii) using examples from everyday life to demonstrate the use and usefulness of maths and statistics outside of the classroom and (viii) building up confidence and aiming to engender a passion and love of the subject and learning, in general.

I make extensive use of marking schemes and examiners reports to discuss how the tutee may have obtained the correct answer but lost marks due to not showing their working or lost time providing irrelevant details and this has been very successful and interesting for the tutees.

Some of my feedback:
(i) As a Year 11 student, Peter has been providing me with extra mathematics tuition during the final months before my GCSE examinations, offering distinct, concise teaching within a relaxed but highly enjoyable and yet professional environment. As a mathematician, Peter has aided me in approaching mathematics from a somewhat more lateral perspective, exploring multiple methods that could be employed to solve a challenging question; a form of thinking that is seldom used within a typical school environment. Peter's abundant, infectious passion for both his tuition and mathematics manifests itself within his unswerving support and guidance during our sessions together, delivering a uniquely engaging teaching environment within which to learn, but most importantly, to enjoy learning mathematics!"

(ii) Parent of a Year 11 school girl: Hello Peter, thank you for your follow up, your emails always have an interesting flair about them. We also enjoyed our meeting and Ebony particularly liked your relaxed approach to the subject, for that reason alone I think she would benefit from being able to ask questions without feeling awkward about what she doesn't understand, most importantly I agree with your 'spades a spade' philosophy in how to interpret the syllabus into the real world.

(iii) Teacher's reply to an e-mail from the mother of a Common Entrance school boy: Thank you for your email. I am pleased Edward has a good tutor and is happy doing extra Maths. The best paper to prepare Edward for our end of year test would be a practice SATs test as they follow a similar format to ours.

(iv) A recent GCSE student, EDEXCEL Higher, via his mother: Peter, I obtained and A in my Stats paper and B in my maths paper and I was told by my teacher that it might be worth remarking, as I was only several marks away from the A Grade)

Consulting the 'breakdown' of my overall Mathematics grade, it appears as though I (thanks to your support) did exceptionally well within the non-calculator paper (the equivalent of a very high A/ very low A* in terms of marks), but it was simply a few questions at the end of the calculator paper (that seemed to baffle everyone, regardless of ability) that partially pushed my overall grade down.

Once again, thank you for all of your support and guidance; I certainly would not have been able to achieve my result within the NON-calculator paper, the paper that I claimed was more intimidating, without our sessions within the Library. You have improved not only my proficiency, but also my confidence in Maths enormously and for that I cannot thank you enough.

(v) Father of a schoolgirl (EDEXCEL Higher): "E" did very well overall and passed all 13 ! In Maths she was one point off a B so of course that's a C. I think we will request a remark for the maths paper. Many thanks again for your help in the past, best wishes.

Personal Description:
I am 24 years old, based in South Oxfordshire and currently working for the Civil Nuclear Police full time Monday to Friday. I am looking to tutor in my spare time, not only to earn some extra money for my husband and I, but also as I have a passion for teaching and it is a career I always considered myself following. I have a degree in English Literature and Creative writing from Kingston University London, graduating in 2013 with a 2:1 BAHons. I have always had a passion for English, particularly poetry, writing regularly in my free time. I have wanted to become a teacher from a very young age however, due to financial needs, was unable to undertake a PGCE course immediately after finishing my undergraduate degree.
As I work for the Police I have been fully background checked and passed the DBS checks which were conducted between January and April 2016.

Teaching Experience:

I have completed two weeks work experience in a primary school in North Wales where I helped with the reception and year one classes. I was tasked with helping the children with all their work, from spelling and maths, to reading and writing. I would be willing, as a tutor, to help primary school age children with all subjects; from 11+ I would be more suited to English Literature or English Language however I am willing to discuss the child's needs and am happy to help with pre-GCSE maths, science or history also. I regularly check Undergraduate level essays for grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors for my two sisters in law, one of whom is studying War Studies and the other Primary Teaching. When in my late teens I would read with a young boy every week to help him improve.

Tutoring Approach:

Though I have never been employed as a tutor previously, I do have experience working with children and young adults, as well as a keen eye for detail. I am extremely patient and willing to persevere to find the learning method which works best for the child or young adult; I have experience in this with my youngest sister in law, who is just 16, whom I have been helping with her GCSE chemistry; chemistry is certainly not my subject, however I took time to read through her text books and her work, to ensure I knew exactly what she needed to do, before helping her to find a way to understand herself. I appreciate that not all subjects come easily to every individual and that, though I may have a passionate love of English, not everyone will share that and so, when tutoring anyone I should not be telling them that English is great - that is just my opinion; instead, I should be helping them to access it, to understand it better, and making it a little easier for them in the process. If, on top of that, they come to love the subject also, that is great; if not, that is fine too.
I would always propose that I meet once with the parents, and child or young adult, free of charge, to discuss the exact requirements: That way I can come to the first tutoring session knowing what needs improving, where my help is most needed and, also, how I think the tutee needs to taught - do they find the subject boring? In which case I need to show them ways in which it can become more interesting, even fun. Do they find the subject really difficult? In which case we need to find ways to make it more accessible and less daunting. I also can leave the fist session knowing exactly how the parents or guardians want me to tutor their child - do you want me to set my own tasks and homework for the tutee to help improve the weaker aspects of their work? Do you want me to help them with work they are being set in school, perhaps a specific text? All of this will help ensure that both the tutee and I get the most out of the time we spend together.

Personal Description:
I am Dimitra, born in Piraeus, Greece. I am qualified teacher with an enormous passion about teaching and learning, excellent communication skills, ethos, and a love for continuous professional development. I hold a Bachelor degree in History & Archaeology, a master in Psychology of Education and Educational Practice and another master in Applied Human Rights. I have also attended vocational programmes in Special Education and Counselling and I have been trained in Safeguarding.
I am an experienced teacher with 11 years of teaching experience and my students have always acknowledged my commitment and high standards that boost progression and are translated into results.
I am keen to work with pupils of all ages and background and offer everyone the support and necessary help to achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching career began back in 2005. I have worked as a private tutor but also in mainstream schools and I have experience from international schools overseas and from Academies in the UK.
I have worked in Greece for 9 years as a Classics and Humanities teacher, preparing students for the national exams for admission to Higher Education. I have taught Latin, Classical Greek, Modern Greek and History.
I have also been employed in two Academies in Sheffield and Doncaster respectively teaching History up to GCSE and I have been mentored by high calibre practitioners with enormous teaching experience.
In addition, I was till recently the Head teacher of the Sheffield Greek School, where I taught Modern Greek up to GCSE and A level to students with various linguistic backgrounds and academic goals.
During my tenure, I have worked with pupils with learning difficulties and hearing impairment.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons are highly stimulating and engaging. All the lessons are planned using the constructivist theory and the scaffolding principle where prior knowledge is deployed and used as the foundation to built upon. My lessons are challenging, age appropriate and differentiated to meet the needs of every individual student. Formative assessment and revision are used frequently to ensure any gaps and/or misunderstandings are dealt with appropriately and promptly and students have the time to consolidate the new knowledge. My students are always engaged in the learning process and are encouraged to become independent learners, but also see value in what they are doing. Various assessment strategies are used to ensure progress. Last but not least, my lessons are fun! Even when I use socratic questioning, my students will enjoy their learning and will be looking forward to their next lesson.
