Personal Description:
I am a qualified Modern Languages and English as a Foreign Language teacher. Languages have always played a big part in my life and have given me the opportunity to travel to, live and work in many different countries. Being able to speak another language is a valuable and rewarding skill and I enjoy encouraging and teaching others to do so.

Teaching Experience:

I have now been teaching languages for nearly 20 years. I spent 5 years living in Italy working as a language teacher, translator and then Director of Studies of an international language school in Milan, as well as one year teaching English in both Spain and France. My work abroad was varied, teaching language for Business Purposes in multinational companies, schoolchildren, general adult groups and private individuals wishing to learn for personal satisfaction.

In England I have worked as a Modern Foreign Languages teacher in both secondary and primary schools, tutored adults and children in private lessons, taught English for Academic Purposes at universities and English as a Foreign Language in adult and junior language schools.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring depends very much on the needs of the student, so the content of a primary school lesson will be very different from that of an adult's lesson. Therefore in the first session I assess competence and needs, and base my tuition on these. I have been learning languages myself for 30 years in a variety of different settings, and can appreciate and anticipate learners' difficulties. I am encouraging and approachable, and make lessons enjoyable.

Personal Description:
I choose to study mathematics for my degree as an interests. (so is my interest for physics) After the studies, it is come to me I should share my enthusiasm to younger students as well. Private tutoring as a part time job is a good point to start, with the help from me, I hope students to find the subjects more interesting rather than a dull subject to part in the school.

Teaching Experience:

Qualification-wise, I've got A for Mathematics & Physics at A-Level, obtained MA Mathematics (Hons) from Edinburgh University and MSc Mathematics from King's College London.
Experience-wise, I've become a private tutor for three years now and I had taught over 200 students. The subject include mathematics, physics and mandarin. Range from KS3 to degree level.
Dec 2012 - Feb 2013: Teaching Assistant at Lister Community School
Oct 2014 - Jun 2015: Maths & Mandarin Tutor at Greig City Academy

Tutoring Approach:

For the mathematics and physics teaching, I believe the conceptional understanding is much more important than memorize the method. Once the concept has been absorbed, the method of solving problem become rather trivial. Of course to maximize the efficiency of learning, an interests in the subject is essential. Hence I'd like to increase the students engagement by given information on more practical use of the knowledge or more news on advanced study.

Note: for people asking for university level maths. I will ask lecture notes or at least syllabus. Though undergraduate maths is taught at similar level, there are variation for each modules due to each lecturers' style. Just list a module name hardly tells what topics are required to study. Lecture notes are used to see the way that particular lecture taught, otherwise give me a syllabus I shall use my own lecture notes.

Personal Description:
I am a student at the University of Bath and am currently in my third year of a four year course, studying BA French, Italian and European Studies (History, Politics, Culture and Literature of Europe). In compliance with my degree, this year must be spent abroad and so I have just finished my summer employment at a private language summer school in Belgium, working as an English teacher.

I teach French on Twitter, where I have over 16,000 followers and regularly respond to questions and update my page daily with useful phrases, every day speech and more complex language issues.

My passion for learning and teaching languages stems from when I moved to France at the age of 13 with my parents, not one of us spoke a word of the language - other than the vague memories of the beginnings of GCSE, with the only words springing to mind being 'ruler' and 'pencil'. It's really just not ideal when you're actually in the centre of a new culture, and not in a classroom.

I didn't have friends for the first few months there because of the language barrier (it didn't help either that I was home-schooled so it was incredibly hard for me to even meet people!). So I just had to learn the language. In teaching myself it, I know what works, I know the easiest ways to memorise words and phrases, I know what to do and what will be easiest for you.

After three years of living in France, my parents decided to move back to the UK where I continued my language studies at a scholastic level; completing my AS Level and my A2 Level in French, gaining an A in both.

My passion for Italian stems from my father's family being Sicilian. We moved there, also when I was 13, however, sadly we only spent a very brief time there - it was a spontaneous country-hop so we really just were not prepared for the culture shock. Again, none of us spoke the language, so I began teaching myself and then continued again when I came back to the UK to study.

English is my native language and I have taken my A Levels in English Language.

Teaching Experience:

While teaching, my classes would change weekly, so during my stay there I gained the experience of teaching 9-17 year olds, with English levels ranging from absolute beginner, A1 to almost native, C1.

I gained many skills, including, but not exclusive to, classroom management, lesson planning, evaluating language levels at the beginning and end of the stay of the children, meeting parents and giving feedback and of course, teaching full days; my teaching day would even include private one-to-one lessons. I would often deal with situations that required being able to think innovatively, without guidance and under pressure so I have gained a considerable amount of confidence and self-discipline due to my work there and I have improved my time keeping and organisational skills.

I have also been privately tutoring children, from 11 to 14 years old, for over two years now, via Skype. So even if the distance seems too far - teaching via Skype is an option.

I tutored one of my students through her French GCSE and she gained an A*. I was always available to prepare her - even the day before her exams. She only ever felt confident to go into any of the modules (be it speaking or writing).

I really care for the children that I tutor and am proud to say I have been there to help them with all aspects of their schooling, from homework help, to exam preparations, extra work and even life lessons - I'm very personable, patient and overall positive and happy so am always willing to give advice and have really become a friend to my tutees. We've also worked on all subjects, everything from science, to history, to music, to teaching the time and additional mathematics help.

Please see below for feedback from previous families that have found me on this site:

------------------------------------

Bianca taught my daughter French all of last year. Her teaching methods were relaxed and fun, and our daughter's French improved dramatically in a short space of time. Equally importantly, we were totally comfortable with having Bianca in our house; I often went out, leaving her alone with our daughter, without a second thought.
Bianca is polite, respectful and trustworthy. Her teaching is fun and motivational, and our daughter is very fond of her.
I have no hesitation in recommending Bianca as a teacher and au pair.

-------------------------------------

Bianca has tutored my 3 children for over 3 years and her work with them has been invaluable. We lived in France for 7 years and when the children returned to the UK they found some subjects difficult, especially as one of them began high school.

Bianca has an incredible way of teaching that totally captures the child's attention and she engages and connects with them in a way that makes learning easy, practical and fun.

Bianca helped my children improve their grades and they passed all their subjects under her watch and in fact Bianca could help them in any subject they asked for help in.

My middle son was terrible at focusing and organising himself and Bianca was able to help with fun tactics to help home organise and to study. The projects he did with her were fantastic.

Bianca also coached my eldest to an A* in French GSCE a year early and she encouraged her to aim high.

Bianca is also a wonderful role model and my eldest aspires to be like her, she says she would like to go to Bath University to study languages like Bianca.

Bianca brings out the best in the children and overall she is one of the most sincere, loveliest helpful people I know. She is intelligent and entertaining and I wish her well! We miss her enormously!

Tutoring Approach:

I do it the right way, the way I would have wanted to have been taught. No unnecessary memorising. No difficult approaches. No complex babbling.

I won't just be setting you work, I will be working with you. All you need to do is let me know what exactly you want to learn. Even if your answer is 'Everything!', then we'll get down to it.

This is simple. So, let's do it!

Personal Description:
I am a 23 year-old postgraduate student in Durham University, with a masters in mathematics.

Teaching Experience:

In 2010-2012 I was the initiator of a volunteer project called 'Fairy tales in Pictures'. The project involved working, communicating and interacting with children with learning difficulties, playing games with them and teaching them to tackle different tasks. This was an opportunity to develop my communication and listening skills regarding various kinds of people, becoming extremely aware of the difficulties children can have with learning and understanding new things, and how these difficulties can be tackled.
I have helped my 11-year-old sister with her maths and English language-related lessons over the years. This has helped me understand children better and sense when they are in need for more training and explanation in particular areas. I have also helped friends' children with their problems, offering help, guidance and advice.

Tutoring Approach:

The key method to learning mathematics is by solving problems and dealing with examples. My approach is to give a clear explanation on the theory and then focus on different types of examples to help children understand things through practice. After several examples, I encourage children to attempt problems themselves at first, then ask questions and give small hints, guiding the child to obtain the correct answer as independently as possible. I give homework for children to practice their newly acquired knowledge, and I check if they've done the homework correctly on the next lesson.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic native speaker Italian teacher qualified at the Italian Cultural Institute of London with a TIAFL (Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language) certificate. Furthermore, I have attained a Master's degree (Distinction) in Italian Literature at University of Bologna gaining an excellent command of the Italian language and a deep insight into the culture.

Teaching Experience:

During the intensive teacher training course TIAFL 'Teaching Italian as a Foreign language' at the Italian Cultural Institute in London I have taught to students of different levels including complete beginners and intermediate, planning innovative lessons and creating activities with authentic material.
I am currently working with one-to-one tuitions with a more tailored approach adapted to the student's needs and expectations.

Tutoring Approach:

I love involving students into the 'Italian world': natural and artistic heritage, social customs and peculiarities.
In my professional experience as a teacher I have developed a communicative approach able to show short-term improvements in the students' speaking ability and competence.
My lessons are student-centred enabling the tutee to effectively practise the language in an active way.
The interest is stimulated through innovative and engaging activities such as games adapted to language learning as well as audio, video and visual material.
The grammar is instructed through an inductive approach to make the student able to understand the concept within a specific context, and pronunciation is facilitated with a focus on individual phonemes, stress and intonation.
This active and engaging approach is the perfect way to stimulate the students' interest and motivation in learning a new language.

Personal Description:
I am a native Arabic speaker from Jordan. I have a PhD in Arabic Language and Literature and three years of experience in teaching Arabic as an additional language. I teach Modern Standard Arabic, old Classical Arabic ( Quranic Arabic) and spoken Arabic ( Levantine and Gulf).

Teaching Experience:

Three years of experience in teaching Arabic as an additional language

Tutoring Approach:

As a teacher of Arabic language, I believed once in the 'myth' which says Arabic is a difficult language to learn. However, after more than two years of experience in teaching, I am confident that Arabic is easier than many languages including English. This belief has rooted through experience in teaching Arabic to students from beginners to advanced levels. Arabic is a very mathematical language. It depends on logic in all its aspects. It has rigid writing and pronunciation systems.

Personal Description:
I am a First Class Honours LL.B. graduate. I recently completed my LL.M. in Law at King's College London. I also received The Thomson Reuters Law Prize for Best Undergraduate Law Dissertation and have received many firsts in my law examinations and essays.

I strive to achieve the best possible results I can.

All students have the potential to be the best. It is the teacher who must hone this and let the student shine. Tutoring can make a great difference in a student's grade if it is done correctly. I believe that students need practice, confidence and time to be the best they can.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously had experience being a teaching assistant in English, Maths, History and Biology at a Primary School to Year 1 and 2 students. I held this position for 2 years.

If students in a class of 30 did not understand what a teacher had taught them, I would sit down individually with these students and ensure that they understood what was being taught before giving them a set of tasks to test their knowledge.

I have also proofread and helped students from GCSE level to postgraduate level to understand how they can achieve better grades in coursework components. This is especially true for English and History GCSE to A-Level students and undergraduate Law students.

I can also help Law students use the OSCOLA referencing system and make sure they have used it correctly throughout their work.

This would especially be helpful to students who do not use English as their first language.

I have also been tutored previously during my A Levels and I understand the skills and needs that a good tutor needs in order for a student to achieve their best potential.

I am very happy to help tutees improve their coursework and essays.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it is imperative that students will come away with new knowledge each tuition session. Due to this, I am always happy to change the structure of my teaching for the benefit of the pupil. I will be prepared for all lessons and will provide homework which will gauge the student's performance.

I will identify any weak areas a student may have and focus on improving these areas. Exam and coursework technique will also be improved along with providing students with good revision habits and tips.

I will seek feedback from students so that I can keep improving my methods and so that they can ultimately benefit academically from this.

Personal Description:
Having graduated less than 6 months ago, I was a student and school pupil very recently too, meaning I can offer a different perspective and approach to most teachers and textbooks.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring since my final year of school and always with good results. Most importantly, I have always managed to build good relationships with my students and establish the relaxed and informal atmosphere so important for productive learning.

Tutoring Approach:

Everyone learns differently and I will find the best way for you, focusing on understanding rather than rote learning. This is much easier and more effective in a relaxed and easy-going atmosphere, something I try to establish in every session: learning doesn't have to be a chore!

Personal Description:
I am a post-Doctorate biologist with years of experience in leading academic institutions such as Oxford University and King's College London. I am passionate about teaching and student mentoring. I am constantly striving for excellent educational material, featuring high quality illustrations, as I believe in using the latest technology to facilitate my student's actual comprehension of the wonderful science that is biology and not merely memorising! At the same time I consider mentoring a calling; a great responsibility but highly rewarding.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my years as an academic, I have had the opportunity to guide a number of medicine and dentistry undergraduates as well as PhD students through their graduation, motivating them for high performance without undermining the demanding nature of their studies and providing support where needed.
In addition, I have tutored students for preparation for SAT and A-level exams, who achieved their first choice of university.

Tutoring Approach:

My experience in academia has provided me with a thorough understanding and appreciation of the student profile that is desirable in leading universities. Finally, as I have extensive experience in writing articles for publication in renowned journals and presenting in international conferences and meetings as well as in multiple interviews, I am able to provide high level coaching for interviews for entry into competitive institutions as well as personal statement coaching.

I only take on a limited number of students, as I want to be able provide only the highest level of teaching and mentoring.

Tutoring Approach:

In my tutorials I look to enthuse my pupils with a genuine interest in the subject, and help them think about topics in new ways. I believe it is important to maximize their input in the session, encouraging them to explore their ideas and better understand the subject at their own pace.

My previous experience has been in tutoring pupils with set work, helping them complete assignments set by school teachers and exam revision. This can be supplemented by additional material such as revision booklets, additional books on specific subjects (especially useful at A Level), and relevant online content.

Above all, I aim to fulfil the brief given to me by parents and carers. This may be anything from boosting confidence and performance for upcoming school entrance or public exams, to providing a regular work structure, or simply offering guidance and encouragement with homework. Whatever your needs, I will work hard to see the best development outcomes and help all my pupils reach their potential.
