Personal Description:
I am a lighthearted, focused and friendly actress, with a passion for new people and experiences. I have trained for a year at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic arts (LAMDA), where i was exposed to a great deal of new experiences, and was challenged daily. I believe that nothing is ever hard, but just a challenge to overcome and grow as a individual from. I have also trained at the National Youth Theatre, and have a BTEC in performing arts.

I have worked in a wide variety of jobs, and have consequently gained a large number of transferable skills, such as the ability to gain and maintain a rapport with clients/people/customers.I am very interested in what an Individual has to offer, and love seeing people find their true talent

Recently I have performed at The Soho Theatre, The Bush Theatre and have been involved with the national youth theatre.

Teaching Experience:

Although this is my first step into private tuition I have experience assisting drama workshops in schools, and have sat on the audition panel of the National youth Theatre.

Tutoring Approach:

Having received Private Drama tuition myself many years ago i am very aware of how important it is to be comfortable with your tutor. I therefore aim to create an extremely relaxed and open atmosphere in order for the tutee to reach their full potential.

I believe that drama classes can be used for anything from gaining confidence, to helping with speeches, but most of all i think they can help you learn much more about yourself and the people around you.

I aim to help clarify speeches, encourage students to reach their full potential, engage in a two way discussion about the piece they are studying and in doing so help them discover exactly what their objective is. This should all be fun and open.

Every student is different, and it is my responsibility to adapt and be aware of this.

Personal Description:
My name is Bárbara, I am Spanish (Madrid), I am 39 years old and I have been teaching Spanish and English as a Foreign Language since arriving to the UK in September 2005. Back in Spain, I finished my Teaching Degree, specialised in Modern Foreign Languages. I have always enjoyed teaching, communicating and sharing my knowledge with other people. Languages are an extremely important part in my life as my husband is Italian and my daughter was born in Cambridge and speaks three languages!

As a child I was always encouraged to study other languages. Since a very young age, I had three passions: Teaching, Languages and Nursing. I am not the type of person that wants to regret not doing something and wondering "What would have happened if …" so, I have done both Degrees, in Primary Teaching and Adult Nursing.

After working as an Oncology Nurse for some time, I am now fully focused on the language tutorials, translations and trips to Spain and UK for students.

Teaching Experience:

After finishing my A-Levels, I decided to do a Bilingual Course. I knew I liked and enjoyed languages but I did not have a well defined vocation by that time. Once I finished the two year studies including Spanish, English and French, I started working as a private English teacher for adult students with different requirements. That happened between 1997 and 2000. By that time I was sure Teaching was for me. I enrolled in a Primary Teaching Degree at CES Don Bosco University in Madrid that lasted four years. In 2005 I decided to teach abroad and I came to England with my husband. I started a business as Self-Employed Spanish Teacher for groups and individuals that lasted until I finished my second Degree as an Adult Nurse. During those years at Anglia Ruskin University I continued to work as a private teacher.
If you are interested in talking to some of my previous students or checking references, I am more than happy to provide them. I have an up to date CRB and my Self-Employed documentation to prove all the above mentioned dates.

Tutoring Approach:

I am passionate about teaching and working with children and adults and I am fully aware of the impact teachers can have on the student's future.
Under my point of view, a good teacher should be inspiring and encouraging and therefore remembered by the students forever. A great teacher must be aware of the long lasting impact their words and actions will have on the lives of his/her students.
A teacher must be able to hold the student attention at all times through an engaging personality and an interesting teaching style. In order to achieve this, the teacher needs to establish clear and realistic objectives for each lesson promoting positive behaviours and allowing space for possible changes in the classroom.
My experience as a private teacher and as a nurse have allowed me to develop my management and communication skills, both of them key to provide quality teaching. I have always had an excellent rapport with students and their parents in order to keep them informed about the lessons and possible issues. This should never interfere with the trusting relationship established between teacher and pupil. I have always had high expectations and encouraged my students to work at their best possible level.
I am a dedicated, enthusiastic and and responsible person who would love to continue teaching until the day I retire.
If you are interested in receiving information about my tuitions, please do not hesitate in contacting me.
Thanks and see you soon!

Personal Description:
I am a very positive person and have full empathy with students barriers to learning.
I am friendly and approachable and like to aim to raise student self-esteem and attitude to learning, focusing on positive recognition of achievements and constructive reinforcement of learning strategies.

I work just as easily with adults as I do with children.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 30 years of teaching experience teaching from pre schoo level up to GCSE level and adult learning for returning to work.

I also teach children within the care system who have missed a lot of the early building blocks through lack of education as opposed to lack of ability. This also includes overcoming huge barriers to learning !

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to develop an individual learning strategy to accomodate the students learning style and empower them to achieve and gain confidence through a positive learning programme suited to their individual style and needs.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Olivia. I have a first class degree in English from University College London (the best English department in the country) and a distinction-level masters in Literature from Birkbeck University. I went on to qualify in Law at City University. My degrees have given me experience of working at a high academic level, and I have adopted skills such as research, essay writing, essay formatting, effective revision and creative writing. I can show how simple it is to improve essays or homework by writing good introductions and conclusions, using literary critics and quotations, and analysing prose or poetry. UCL is the only university still providing one-on-one tuition, and after having had a personal tutor for three years as part of my degree, I can apply what they have taught me to my tutoring: looking at past essays to see how they can be improved, practising essay structure and enhancing the grammar and style of writing. Help with computer literacy such as writing in Word documents and blogging can also be provided.

I am also available to teach English as a foreign language, whether for school, exams or for personal improvement. Lessons could be planned and work on grammar and vocabulary or be structured to improve conversation, whatever is most needed. I have received pronunciation (a standard English accent) and can help to improve spoken English.

I can tutor up to degree level, and am happy to work with primary or secondary school pupils.

I can show a CRB check and references on request.

I can provide bumper revision sessions for new students up until exams. Please ask for more details.

Teaching Experience:

I have a range of experience teaching all age groups. I have been tutoring one-to-one for 3 years, teaching History and English language and literature. My students have found me committed and knowledgeable, and have often achieved their target grade or better. I have also helped students with university applications and personal statements. Last year, all of the students I assisted with their applications got the maximum of 5 university offers.

I have travealled to Cambodia to teach English language at a charity school in Phnom Penh, and my pupils there ranged from 4 years old to adults.

I have also worked four summers full-time in an English language school where I had full responsibility of children and teenagers. This year I was the director of the school's residential programme. As well as helping the students to improve their English, I coordinated their entire stay at the school. My employer praised me for often being chosen as 'best activity leader' on the students' feedback forms.

Last year I took part in an outreach programme at my university which involved teaching human rights and activism at a London sixth form college on behalf of Amnesty International. We had a series of lessons on different aspects of human rights abuse and campaigning which led up to a fundraiser raising money for Amnesty.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a gradual build-up of confidence is integral to learning literacy skills. Learning skills on by one, such as editing or memorising, makes the tasks seem simple, yet leads up to a large and complex understanding of how to do well at English. Working at the student's own speed is important, in order that they grasp one aspect of writing before tackling another. My approach is to find the weak areas in a student's studying and work on these, without making any task seem too daunting. Exam technique and the knack of writing what an examiner is looking for are also main objectives.

I will help extensively with essays and coursework, providing comprehensive editing and advice. We can work together on your piece of work until it is of the highest standard possible.

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Diogo and I'm very passionate about teaching. I'm currently studying for a PhD in nano materials, and I believe I can not only help you through your exams but also to find chemistry more appealing. I'm available to tutor from my home at Preston or to travel to close locations if travel expenses paid.

Teaching Experience:

During this past year I've assisted several students on their research projects, which required not only my practical lab skills but also my theoretical chemistry knowledge. I'm also currently teaching (demonstrating) on two chemistry modules at UCLan (1st and 2nd years).

Tutoring Approach:

My motto is: if you can't explain it simply enough then you don't understand it well enough, thus I try to develop an interactive and practical-thinking teaching.

I strongly believe that a tutor's duty is to try different approaches to those used in school, and without disregarding the syllabus, how the modules can be looked at from different angles.

My ultimate goal is to show to the tutees how chemistry can be an enjoyable subject.

Personal Description:
I am an Engineering/Energy Professional living in Aberdeen City. I have been in Aberdeen since 2008, originally was in for a masters' degree in Energy Futures (Oil & Gas Engineering). I have an excellent understanding of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry which are at the core of my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and I still use today. I am a calm individual who understands that everyone is unique with different speed of comprehension and always try to find out the sparks in individuals. I enjoy teaching Mathematics to all levels, especially the young minds because I believe practicing, solving and understanding mathematics sharpens the brain in understanding and quickly solving other problems in life as they grow. I have over 5 years of experience; covering teaching in private homes of families, friends, acquaintances, and tutorial lessons/coaching centres. I have undertaken teaching secondary school students and a few 1st year undergraduate students. My approach in tutoring/teaching is to seek favourable environment best suited to students' level of assimilation and progress this through the length of time against a log and when there are difficulties propose alternatives to achieving the goal of understanding and mastering problem solving skills.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, qualified and experienced teacher. I am a native German. I moved to the UK in 1991 just after meeting my future husband. We have three grown-up children, and education and parenthood have been very much part of our lives for many years.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in secondary schools and colleges in the UK for over 15 years as a German teacher and Head of German. I have conducted GCSE and A-level oral exams for the WJEC examination board, written several syllabuses for German GCSE and A-level groups and organised pupil exchange visits over 6 years. The academic work and pastoral care at the school I worked at was rated "excellent" by Estyn. At present, I am working at home with pupils who are eager to improve their grades at Key stage 3, GCSE and A-level, with adults who are relocating to Germany, and with architects, employees in the car industry and Financial advisers (Business German) who have business relations with Germany. I also teach children at primary level, who have moved to Britain from Germany and are keen to practise German with games, stories, songs and puppet theatre.

Tutoring Approach:

Language tuition has been my passion for a long time and allows me to be supportive and creative, motivating pupils and believing in their abilities. One-to-one tuition is very productive, because it adapts to the individual learner's needs easily. My experience in schools and with exams has given me the knowledge of standards required for GCSE and A-level exams, and many pupils have commented on how much improvement they have seen in their school work, and in their confidence, as a result of our lessons. My aim is to make language learning enjoyable, and therefore I always encourage a warm and relaxed atmosphere for lessons. My lessons are structured, integrating all four language skills speaking, listening, reading and writing, and also include grammar, pronunciation, games, video clips, and lots of authentic material and cultural knowledge.

Those with special needs such as dyslexia and Autism can also reach out for help with academic or study skills related support, I would like to say that I have completed a Mental Health course as well as worked with Dyslexic and Autistic young adults which has boosted my knowledge on the barriers faced by such groups of people.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored students for over 4 years, with coursework help and guidance. I am a student myself thus am fully aware of the type of support students require, with a strong will in answering queries so please don't hesitate to ask.

Tutoring Approach:

I provide a friendly and approachable style for students, I can easily connect with you all as I nurture a passion for people. My availability is vast even on short notice, mainly due to the fact that I sympathise with students who often require assistance at late hours of the day such as night time when they may panic. Thus I am here to help calm those nerves and provide support. Students can thus be assure of a prompt reply from me as I keep a close eye on my email/texts, I fully understand that when students need help they often get disappointed as no one answers their queries at odd hours. I have kept my hourly rate fairly low as I'm aware that students are short of funds and so would not like to make support expensive for them, knowledge and expertise should not be made difficult for students than it already is.
