Personal Description:
I am an experienced and successful assistant examiner for a major exam board for A Level French and have marked German and French GCSE in the past. I am an experienced, enthusiastic and friendly tutor, with a high success rate with GCSE and A level students of French and German. I love what I do, particularly helping to build student confidence and helping them achieve their best, in a fun and supportive way.

PGCE - University of Newcastle Upon Tyne 1998 (Secondary Teaching Qualification)
I am a fully qualified teacher of Languages and English as a foreign language, with 13 years' experience of teaching all levels.

My work as an assistant examiner for a major exam board, has given me an excellent insight into what is required by the exam in order to gain a good pass.
I love languages, teaching, music and travel.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught and supported students at all levels and for different purpose: GCSE, A Level, Holiday French and German, Primary French and German.

I have been an assistant examiner for a major exam board for A level French speaking, listening, reading and writing for the past 8 years, so can help to support students for exams and help them to become very familiar with the techniques and knowledge required to gain a good pass.

I have a 100% success rate with students. Last year, all 3 GCSE students gained A* and A (French and German) and my 3 A Level students gained A (French), and 2 C's (from a grade E/U in German).

I have taught online for Learndirect/myself, am computer literate, and have had success with students learning long distance via Skype.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a fun and enthusiastic approach to teaching and I am able to guarantee success at all levels. I have lots of success with all levels, and have been successful due to a variety of techniques, knowledge of exam papers/common difficulties when learning a language and teaching experience.
I am able to get the best out of students, by identifying their learning needs and styles.

Adult learners: I have a very successful and unique approach, which allows adults to understand how a language is constructed and which allows them to grasp the basics of a language and then 'play' with the language by adding new vocabulary and phrases. You will feel confident wiih the pronunciation of the language from the beginning, which is essential to make progress quickly and effectively.

What my previous students have said:

E - July 2012 - Intermediate Adult: I needed a quick few lessons to help me pass a resit at University, I realised this was a pressure on Sarah to help me pass but I had learnt more with Sarah in a total of 6 hours than I had in a whole year. I would highly recommend Sarah to anybody, Thank you Sarah for your help, you helped me pass with flying colours! E.

R - May 2012 - GCSE last minute help online - My daughter says " Sarah is really friendly and helpful and she gave me lots of techniques I can use to revise". Sarah has been brilliant at giving a late boost just before the exams, which was exactly what we wanted. We found her incredibly helpful and responsive and are sure she has been a major part of boosting my daughter's confidence - her grades as reported by school have gone up two levels in the last two months and Sarah has been a definite part of this

S - July 2011-May 2012 - Adult Casual - After having lessons for a few months now I can say that Sarah is a very effective teacher and has the ability to explain things in a simple and easy to understand way. I feel I have made significant progress in my learning and would not hesitate to recommend Sarah to anybody wishing to learn french.

Personal Description:
I have a passion for the English language and its literature which is reflected in my work. I really enjoy tutoring, because I know the one-to-one learning situation gives students the attention and focus which they need to improve, and which they cannot get in school. I am a parent, a published poet and occasional actor. I only work in West Yorkshire, up to 12 miles' drive from my home, but I will offer discounts to students willing to travel to me..

Teaching Experience:

I have 30 years' experience of teaching English to kids of varying backgrounds and abilities (11 to 18 up to A level) so I have built up an extensive bank of resources over the years, which I use to carefully prepare for lessons. I am also an experienced examiner for AQA, which offers valuable insights into exactly how to achieve high GCSE grades . I have been tutoring successfully for five years now, and my knowledge and expertise would be very useful to students aiming at high marks in GCSE and A level exams. Recently, I have helped a pupil win a scholarship to high-achieving independent QEGS in Wakefield, and others to gain entrance to grammar schools

Tutoring Approach:

I am patient, friendly and easy to get on with. I have always tried to make my lessons interesting, relevant and inter-active. I tailor my teaching to the pupil and know that praise and encouragement are the keys to confidence and progress. A good sense of humour is vital, too.
I have helped to improve the grades of many pupils, some of whom have achieved the highest grade at GCSE, and have coached younger ones through entrance exams to sought-after schools. One student, whom I tutored for three years, progressed from a poor level 4 in year 8 to GCSE grade B, the minimum requirement for A levels in many good schools, while others have achieved the A* grades required for their chosen paths.
I have achieved high ratings from the parents of students I have tutored. A good tutor can make a difference with focused one-to-one attention, and I am a good, committed tutor.

Personal Description:
I am a native French speaker and I recently graduated in Mechanical Engineering. I have always been passionate about Maths and Physics. I like to share my passion with people, especially those whom I can help, and make these subjects accessible to all. I also love promoting my language in as many ways as I can.
I understand that it is very important to tailor learning to individual needs and I adapt myself to any situation.

Teaching Experience:

I have been giving casual tuition at secondary school level as well as University level to friends and family. I also explained Maths and Mechanics to university fellow students and friends when they needed help to understand topics I had mastered.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to find interesting ways to explain when the student is confronted to a problem he cannot solve. I make a point of leading my students to their goal while setting good working standards. I like to transmit my dedication to my pupils.

Personal Description:
I studied mathematics at Hull University and have since worked as a fully qualified teacher of mathematics. I have experience of teaching mathematics in six different schools. I have regularly received the highest grade of 'outstanding' for my lessons which have been observed by senior teachers throughout my career. I have also achieved very impressive results with my year eleven GCSE classes over the course of my career. I currently work at a school which has been graded as 'outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted. I have additional responsibility for the standard of teaching and learning across the mathematics faculty. I have been on many different training courses which have been based on how maths can be made far easier for students. I have also marked GCSE examination papers so have very good knowledge and understanding of how students can gain and lose marks. Outside of my main job, I have consistently helped tutees of all ages and abilities achieve their desired qualification at the grade they wanted (please just ask for references). I have also coached youth football teams of various ages.

I am very positive, fast-paced and extremely encouraging. I always aim to build confidence and boost mathematical ability both to as great an extent as possible. Being enormously driven and competitive, I will always take pride in my tutees and the impressive results they get. I have very useful resources including new IT based resources as well as past exam papers. I always do an initial assessment after which I produce a schedule of topics in order to maximise how effective my tutoring sessions are. I always mark any work my tutees do, giving detailed feedback on how to score full marks in exams. My rate is 65 for a one hour session or 100 for a two hour session. Any questions or queries at all, please do not hesitate to contact me (please just ask for references).

Personal Description:
I have tutored secondary school students in the sciences, mathematics and French (I am bilingual in French and English) since 2012. This builds on my volunteering as an Academic Buddy at university and as a mentor for special needs children, as well as giving academic help to peers throughout school and university. With an excellent scientific background (I graduated with a 2:1 in Physics from Imperial College London in 2012) and my empathetic, patient, encouraging and conscientious nature, I greatly enjoy adapting my approach to different pupils' needs and personalities. This September I will begin studying Medicine at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry after spending 2 years tutoring and gaining experience in the medical field.

In my spare time I love to sing (I have sung in several choirs at school and university and done some backing vocals in an Indie band), listening to many different types of music and playing the guitar and piano. I also hugely enjoy exercise such as rowing (including very early morning sessions!) and going for long runs. My other interests are cooking, drawing, painting and reading.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored mathematics, the sciences and French for secondary school students from year 7 to year 13 since 2012. My tutoring experience includes year-long tuition supporting pupils' learning throughout the academic year for Physics and Further Mathematics A Level, lower secondary and GCSE Mathematics and Chemistry and Physics GCSE. I have also given several intensive revision sessions in the holiday period for GCSE and iGCSE in Mathematics, French and the sciences (both the separate sciences and double award). I also gain great satisfaction from using my bilingualism to tutor French up to and including GCSE level. I find pupils particularly enjoy learning French first-hand from someone who has grown up in France and experienced the French education system.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy explaining concepts in a clear and logical way and breaking down complex processes into easily understood steps. Throughout my Physics degree I have gained experience in presenting difficult topics in an accessible way.
I very much believe in making sure tutees actually understand the concept behind topics, as once they have grasped the concept they are able to apply it to other areas and to tackle trickier questions by themselves, and gain much more satisfaction than they would from pure rote learning.
I have a calm, patient and encouraging attitude towards my tutees and use my empathy to adapt my approach to suit each pupil's personality and learning style, whether they need help with the basics, stretching with tougher questions or encouragement in an area they are less confident in.
I will start off finding out a pupil's strengths, weaknesses and concerns in the subject, making sure they are confident with basic principles, and move on in a logical order, guided by the syllabus where needed.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the University of Cambridge with over two and a half years' tutoring experience. I hold a BA Hons (Cantab.) degree in Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic studies, an academic field involving a broad range of skills, ranging from literary and historical analysis to linguistic history and translations, with particular emphasis on the learning of languages.

I tutor Latin, which I studied to degree level, and Italian, which is my second language. I also tutor English, up to GCSE level.

As a tutor I have helped pupils ranging from the ages of 10 to 16 win places at schools such as Haberdashers Aske's and St Paul's, and, as a former member of the Cambridge Footlights, I'm a great believer in the entertainment there is to be found in education. Learning anything new is rewarding, fulfilling and life-affirming, and therefore, with the right teacher, captivating and inherently entertaining. I try to bring that ethos to everything I teach.

Teaching Experience:

Working with and assisting children at KS2 level at local primary school, Perry Hall, Wednesfield. Taught Year 5 children basic IT skills. Supervised and assisted children with reading at KS2 level. Assisted with teaching of History lessons and Music lessons. Helped organise outdoor activities.

Running theatre/comedy workshops at public schools across the country such as Haberdashers' Aske's Boys School, Downe House, Uppingham School, King's College School Wimbledon and Framlingham College, as member of Cambridge Footlights.

Personal Description:
First half hour free - This is an opportunity for you to decide if you are happy with me and my teaching methods and also for me to assess your level and expectations.

I am a friendly native Mandarin Chinese speaker with Chinese Teacher Training Qualification from the Beijing Language and Culture University. I am also a fully qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor. In addition to teaching, I love reading and writing.

BBC reports: "Researchers in Britain have found that people who speak Mandarin Chinese use both sides of their brain to understand the language. This compares to English-language speakers who only need to use one side of their brain." Chinese characters are logograms instead of phonics; I would love to help you explore the fun facts and culture meaning behind the scene. Using both sides of the brain will help in other areas of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Chinese to Korean students in China in 1992. Before moving to Layer-de-la-Haye, I taught in a Chinese School in Hampshire for one year for children from aged 6 to 10. I have the experience of making the lessons fun and attractive for the children. For Adults, I will tailor lessons to suit your specific purpose: Tourism, Business, Universal and Academic. I have also given Chinese culture lectures in both primary schools and colleges.I am teaching students GCSE mandarin in Chinese School. I have experience to help students to get ready for their GCSE exam.

Tutoring Approach:

Every lesson will be tailor-made to satisfy individual needs, interest and skill level. It is important to me that you not only enjoy the classes but also see your Chinese develop.

Lessons will cover any or all of the scope you require: talking and listening, reading and writing.

I am also very happy to teach Chinese Philosophy and Chinese Medicine if you have big passion in the Chinese Culture. The essence of Chinese Philosophy is helping gain inner strength and peace of mind. The Chinese Medicine is a natural way to keep healthy.
