Personal Description:
Hello! I'm Nicole. I'm a bit of a history and literature geek (and I hope to convert you!!)

I studied History and English at the University of Oxford (Wadham College). I graduated with Double First Class Honours in 2010, and came top in my academic year: no mean feat!

I believe that my excellent grades reflect several important characteristics: my exceptional academic ability, my high academic standards, my mastery of study-skills, and my dedicated and conscientious work ethic. I look to encourage all of these qualities in my students.

More importantly though, my outstanding results are a result of my absolute love for, knowledge of, and commitment to, my subjects. I absolutely love to learn, and aim to help my students to find a similar excitement and passion for their studies!

Teaching Experience:

Over the past few years, I have privately tutored a number of students. My students have come from a diverse age range - spanning from the very young to the much older - and I feel comfortable working with children, teenagers and adults.

I have tutored students in History; English Literature; English Language; reading comprehension; speaking, listening, reading and writing skills; primary level Maths.

I have also tutored 11+ applicants, for which I have a 100% success rate.

I also have experience in mentoring potential Oxbridge applicants, and advising university peers and younger students on study and revision skills.

After graduating, I worked full-time as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school. That means that I took classes in all subjects across the secondary curriculum, for students ranging from 11 - 16 years of age, and I also supported teaching in A-Level English classes. Seeing up to 150 students in a day was a challenging and rewarding experience in which I was constantly thinking on my feet, and successfully applying my teaching skills to brand new material (in familiar and unfamiliar subjects). This job also gave me the opportunity to observe and work with students of all abilities and learning styles, and to learn how to adapt my teaching style accordingly.

I have worked on a number of projects which involved education, support, or leadership of young people. These have included:

- Working with and supervising over 120 foreign children and teenagers whilst employed by a Cambridge-based language summer school as a programme coordinator and social leader.

- Peer support leader within the APAUSE programme ('Added Power and Understanding in Sex Education') which offered sex education and empowerment lessons for younger teenagers.

- Co-director role in secondary level production of 'Les Miserables' with responsibility for over 100 children and teenagers aged between 11 and 18.

- Co-director role in community theatre production of 'West Side Story' with responsibility for working with approximately 50 children and teenagers.

- Assistant role for GCSE-level 'Speaking and Listening Days' which involved aiding teachers in helping students improve the quality of their English language GCSE assessed work.

Tutoring Approach:

I am passionate about learning - and look to encourage a similar excitement in my students. In History this might be through some particularly fascinating or gruesome details, or in English, through exploring a beautiful line of poetry.

I am very individual-student orientated, so I seek always to establish each individual's aims for tutoring, and then we will work together toward these. For one student, this might be to know how to deconstruct a poem; for another, how to write a good essay.

With some students, I will plan structured lessons, whereas others prefer simply to earmark time with a dedicated tutor, before deciding what to do themselves at the time. Perhaps they will bring their homework, a study-book, or something they are stuck with - whatever the case, I aim always to listen and respond to the needs of each individual student.

With all my students (but especially the younger ones) I am a big believer in making learning FUN! I therefore often design lessons which use a variety of practical learning activities to keep them stimulated, rather than just relying on book-learning. In the past, I've mummified a teddy, conducted a press conference, and taught times-tables via Grandmother's footsteps! I find this to be particularly effective for students who struggle with concentration.

I believe that when offered education through the right methods, everyone is able to maximise their own ability to learn. Having completed a full-time degree and worked in secondary education, I am equipped with plenty of different learning methods. With my students, I therefore look to discover which approaches work well for them, and then to use these to help them master the subject material. This in turn helps students to gain in confidence and self-motivation as they discover their own capacity to learn well.

If students are working toward exams, I first seek to establish what a student feels his or her weaknesses are, and then focus tuition on areas or skills which will help them to plug the gaps or grow in strength and confidence. If more general support is needed, I will combine working with core material with a focus on ensuring that they have a solid grasp of the assessment objectives, question-types, and what the exam will look like, so that they can go into the exam confident and well-prepared. I also find that practice, practice, practice is essential, so we'll often work with past papers.

I seek always to establish clear lesson goals, and to review material learnt several times within each lesson, ensuring that the student feels comfortable with using the material learnt, rather than swamped by facts and lists!

Personal Description:
My aim is to help aspiring music producers to take their projects through to completion and gain all the necessary knowledge and skills along the way. After tracks have been completed, i provide guidance in promotion and legal issues. I have solid links with the industry on all levels.

Having worked for SAE International as a course co-ordinator, my teaching material is tried and tested. I have had several success stories from past students and continue to get positive feedback.

I am providing the only valid alternative to full-time Music Production courses: One-on-one, tailor-made, project oriented courses that can be taken in your own time, either in the studio or from the comfort of your own home.

For complete beginners, i have a series of fast-track courses that will give you the basic skills and tools you need to start your journey into the music industry.

I also provide a production, mixing and mastering service whereby clients can participate in the process and gain invaluable knowledge.

Teaching Experience:

* Honours Degree in Recording Arts

* Course coordinator and trainer for SAE (School of Audio Engineering)

* Train the Trainer certified

*Assistant Engineer to Wes Maebe (Sting/Cat Stevens/Chaka Khan)

* 4 years experience as a private tutor

* More than 15 years experience in the industry in the UK and overseas

Tutoring Approach:

I have a humanistic approach when it comes to teaching. Having taught large classes in the past, i much prefer the focus of a one-on-one class. I work at my student's pace, only moving on when he/she is ready.
My classes are hands-on and project oriented with the aim of producing a finished product, be it a full track or simple drum loop.

Personal Description:
ONLINE TUTORING ONLY (Ask me about my classroom)

I am a First class Chemistry with Biochemistry graduate with a master's in Green Chemistry from Russell group universities. I have been tutoring privately for more than 6 years now. I have also tutored online for close to 3 years now.

I am aware that many students study with the concept of the sciences, especially Chemistry and Physics. The pressure can be daunting for a teen and I want to be able to make people `see` in a scientific way, be able to bring understanding so that they can take on any examination and achieve the grades they desire.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring professionally since 2010 and have helped various students boost their confidence and achieve their goals. My students have come from all backgrounds and have ranged from Year 6 to A2.

I have experience in exam and test preparation and composing of personal statements and final theses and dissertations. From my experience as a professional tutor, I have taught in several families with 8/10 people continuing tuition past 3 months.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that students learn in various ways, so I try to structure my tutorials to suit individual needs. Generally however, I strive for a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and sometimes take an informal approach towards learning especially where the tougher concepts are concerned. I am always professional!

I implore hands-on techniques (where applicable) and encourage participation and thought-provoking discussion. I encourage my students to ask "why?" I like to think that I am helping students become thinkers and not crammers.

I also make use of feedback mechanisms which can include tests or assignments (formal or informal) to assess understanding and progress.

There is a one-off admin cost due to UKtutors which is collected during payment for the first lesson.

Personal Description:
I first started tutoring some of my fellow students in Elementary Logic during my second year at University and greatly enjoyed helping people improve their understanding of the subject and gain higher marks. Once my degree was completed I began tutoring A-Level students in Religious Studies and Philosophy in the Leeds area before moving to East Sussex.

The potential of tutoring can only be maximised if each student feels comfortable in lessons, so I actively try to cultivate a good working relationship with each student. After all, if I were not enthusiastic and passionate about the subject it would be impossible to motivate any students to be enthusiastic about it! So far all my students have improved their performance by at least by two grade boundaries following tuition with me.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked with students with a broad range of abilities, from those that need some extra help to reach their full potential, to those that aren't in mainstream schooling and as such don't have any previous knowledge of the subject. Some students are very visual in their learning, others are very shy and need a lot of encouragement to speak, and there are others who are extremely capable if you ask them the right questions. Using a range of resources I can tailor a programme of study to suit each student.

During my time tutoring I have noticed how easily students can lose confidence in their abilities, which at times can be a barrier in their learning. By encouraging students to ask questions, looking at what they are doing right and breaking down topics into their simplest formulation, I help the individual gain confidence in the subject and the skills to answer questions fully.3

Tutoring Approach:

My role as tutor is not only to help the student understand the concepts involved but also to gain the confidence to discuss those concepts in an analytical manner. Religious Studies and Philosophy are disciplines that greatly benefit from one-on-one tuition due to the complexity of the issues. In large lesson groups individuals can easily become confused and aren't always able to receive the instant feedback needed to further explore the subject matter.

As a tutor not only do I expand students' knowledge base but also engage students in a positive way with the subject. If students have been finding a subject difficult their enjoyment of learning can become affected and they can lose the motivation needed to gain a broader understanding. By showing enthusiasm for my subject and using relevant examples and discussion points I reintegrate fun back into learning about the subject.

Personal Description:
I am a private mathematics tutor with over 2 years experience working with tutees of ages from primary up to secondary and adult learners.

Additionally, I currently volunteer at Hackney Pirates, a charitable organisation developing the literacy, confidence and perseverance of young people in Hackney.

My academic background is in engineering, graduating with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Imperial College London university. At A-level I achieved straight A's in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics averaging 98% in my Mathematics A-level.

Outside my work as a mathematics tutor I have a keen interest in cinema and am an amateur filmmaker and photographer.

Teaching Experience:

I am a mathematics tutor with extensive experience working with children of all ages within schools and in private one-on-one sessions.

I currently hold weekly sessions with three pupils between the ages of 10 and 15 years. My current pupils and those I have worked with in the past have always achieve their target grades, often scoring higher than expected.

A reference from a previous client:
"Hardy is very organised, efficient and committed to his job. He is responsible, loves Maths and has an excellent rapport with my daughter. In his approach to teaching Maths, Hardy is very thorough and precise. He will accommodate the lessons according to the needs of the pupil and his methods of teaching are very clear and easy to follow.

In summary, I have no hesitation in recommending Hardy as a Maths teacher." - Roberta, London (N16)

Tutoring Approach:

The main characteristic of my teaching style is my determination to see the pupil solve the problem themselves. I am very happy to explain the concept of the problem in several ways and using graphical help if necessary but will not disclose answers unless I feel it will aid in the learning process. In mathematics process is the key, as this will allow the pupil to apply the knowledge more capably when dealing with subsequent problems.

I have got all the experience to get good grades at GCSE and A-level to get university admission in the professional degrees.

Teaching Experience:

I have been giving home tuition for over four years up to University level. I have become much more accustomed to teaching science subjects. I am an Electronics Engineer myself, so I know far better how to do excellent in Pre-Engineering subjects like Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English etc. I am well aware of how the students need to be focused to improve their grades and achieve the targeted results. I can tutor an individual student, as well as small groups of 2 or 3 students.

Based on my personal teaching experience I tend to employ the imaginative visual capacity of the students in explaining core concepts and principles of the subject. This approach enables the student to improve a great deal their analytical skills.
By working with an individual I aim to identify the students' strength and weakness. Along with explaining the basic and over all concepts, I tend to improve their exam techniques as well.

Personal Description:
Currently studying an MEng Degree in Software Engineering with a placement in a locally-based software engineering company. I have previously completed a HND in Computing and Systems Development with distinctions in every module, and achieved A* grades in GCSE and A level ICT. I have experience developing in a number of programming languages, including Java, C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and SQL. I have experience with both coursework and theoretical aspects of these courses and would be more than happy to help!

Teaching Experience:

-Experience delivering tuition to individuals and small groups through workshops delivered in the Apple Store, Victoria Square
-Delivered a series of Apple "Summer Camps" to children aged between 8-13 through the summer of 2015.
-Experience delivering coding classes and talks to peers.
-Tutored peers through A Levels and HND in regards to coursework and theory work.

Tutoring Approach:

This depends on whether the student needs support with the practical (coursework) side or the theory. With the theory, I often look through past papers with the student to establish common questions and work to get the most succinct and correct answer. With practical problems I would often set a smaller, simpler challenge related to the problem which can help the student understand, and then apply to their own coursework.
