Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified TEFL teacher for all ages, from toddlers to business adults and I am also a postgrad MA student at Christie's Education studying Modern and Contemporary Art History. I studied Art History at Manchester where I achieved a high 2.1 and gained a First in my dissertation and so understand fully what it takes to structure and compile a piece of writing comprehensively and eloquently.

I am London based and have a bright engaging personality and outlook on teaching in order to engage and interest my students as much as possible in their lessons and their work. I aim to encourage and ensure progression to all my students of all ages, as I myself understand it is never to late to learn, however old or young you are.

My TEFL qualification has certified me as capable of teaching English as a foreign language to young learners, teenagers, large groups, one on one, business language and social.
From my time at school and also at university I understand comprehensively the skills required to achieve optimum marks and I have an extensive knowledge for History of Art at both A Level and University Level.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for the past three years and in those years I have predominantly taught younger children (6-14 year olds) as well as young adults (18-27 year olds). These have been in small groups or private tuition. I have taught students from a variety of countries including Russia, China, Italy and France to name a few.
I am more than capable of nurturing and handling the quietest and shyest of students to the very naughty and the very confident!
I was a peer mentor throughout University and helped settle new students into university life and assisted with any problems they may have. I gave talks on essay writing and study skills for both exams and essays at different points throughout the year.
If needed or more convenient I have also been trained to teach over the phone or through skype and have taught several people this way. If this sounds a more appealing means to take your lessons then feel free to ask me about this as an option.

Tutoring Approach:

I focus on building a trusting relationshipewith the student and aim to build their confidence in the subject they are struggling with.
I will assess the students standard of knowledge and ask what areas they most wish to cover and what areas they feel they struggle with the most. From this first assessment I will then build a suitable lesson plan and rough timetable of topics and activities for them to complete and work on. So that they feel they are gaining as much as they can from every lesson with me.
I am firm but kind! I have a very calm nature and do not think it is positive to aggressively force students into situations or topics that do not interest them or are of no use. However, I will push them as much as I feel necessary in order for them to progress as far as possible and achieve the highest results.

Personal Description:
Originally from Leeds, where I have a decade of teaching and tutoring experience, I like to keep things positive, upbeat, friendly and fun whenever possible.I am currently working for Sustrans delivering safe cycling training in schools and community groups all around the region. I enjoy sport, reading and music, I play a bit of guitar and love to cycle, so much so, I may well turn up to our session on my bike!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Maths at Leeds City College for 10 years, receiving consistently good annual lesson observation results. I delivered classes at all levels from Entry 1 to Level 2 Functional Skills Numeracy and Foundation and Higher Level GCSE. Along side this, I enjoyed tutoring many students at KS2, KS3, GCSE and A Level. I also worked with learners looking to improve their Maths for related areas of study such as Engineering and Accountancy.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important aspect of a tutoring relationship is communication. The freedom to ask questions, seek clarification and repeat examples and exercises until a topic or concept is fully consolidated is the primary benefit of a private tutoring arrangement. I am flexible to the needs of my students and enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to learners' problems.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Francis. I am a 28-year-old native English speaker based in Colchester. I hold a Joint Honours English Literature & History degree from York St John University. In 2003 the only A grade I received at GCSE level was in French. Between 2012 and 2014 I studied optional Mandarin and Spanish at university, having rekindled my own interest in, and talent for, language learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have previous experience teaching English to both children and adults in Wuhan, China, during my time there.

Tutoring Approach:

As I have mentioned, learning foreign languages is both an interest and a talent of mine. However, I am equally interested in teaching my own first language to those who wish to learn it; the English language, both written and spoken, is a rich cultural tapestry going back into ancient times, and a functioning knowledge of it is a worthy addition to anybody's CV. I believe that encouragement and positive reinforcement are the key to success in any endeavour, and accordingly I hope you will find me to be a friendly, positive, encouraging and patient tutor.

I am hoping to work with anyone who wishes to improve their English skills. I can help you improve your grammar, spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary or conversational skills, and I can also teach you some things about British culture and history if you wish; while learning a language is important, it is also necessary to know a certain amount of background about the place where it is spoken. It does not matter if you are not yet fluent - what's most important is that you are willing to learn, and will enjoy doing so. I aim to put the student first, and with this in mind we will discuss and then tackle subject matter appropriate to your age, ability, personal interests, and study aims.

Personal Description:
I am a young, dynamic Cambridge CELTA qualified teacher with a real passion for the English language. My greatest pleasure is to meet students from all over the world!

I love the challenge that each new student brings, knowing that each person has individual learning requirements and needs a unique approach to facilitating their language acquisition.

My hobbies include languages (I studied French at university), travel, literature, and education.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English for over 4 years. I started by teaching my friends whilst living in France, helping them with their university assignments and preparation for TOEFL exams and presentations. In 2014 I became professionally qualified when I achieved Cambridge CELTA certification.

Since then I have taught Brazilian students from impoverished areas of Rio de Janeiro online, working for the Sequoia Foundation. I currently work for a French company, teaching English online to French-speakers (from France, as well as from many African and Caribbean countries). Working for a Hong Kong based company, I also teach a student from Spain. Further to this I also work for a Japanese company, offering 1-1 Skype lessons.

In summer of 2015 I taught monolingual classes of Italian speakers at Birmingham City University (working for a company called International Quest). My most recent teaching experience also involves an Italian student: I provide 1-1 business English lessons (face-to-face) at Deutsche Bank in Birmingham.

My students have been very varied. The youngest are currently around age 6 and the oldest have been retired casual learners (aged 60+). I have taught levels ranging from entry level (A1 and below) to advanced (C1-C2). My students are from a variety of backgrounds: schoolchildren; high school students; university students ; business professionals; casual learners.

Tutoring Approach:

I love to meet new students from all over the world and enjoy working with all levels. Each student has different needs, so I make sure our lessons reflect this. For example, one student may wish to focus on grammar and reading, whereas another might need to work on speaking and phonology.

I use materials such as the Cambridge Empower series for adolescent and adult learners, as I believe it provides a fantastic springboard for learning. For students wishing to focus on business English, I also make use of the Collins Business English range.

I also have many other resources at my disposal that can be adapted to suit each individual student's needs. For example, many students also find it beneficial to analyse newspaper articles, and I am also happy to work with students on any documents they bring to class.

Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Ana. Nice to meet you!

I am a qualified and experienced language tutor based in Edinburgh. If you or your child are having difficulties with Spanish or German, preparing for National 5 or GCSE exams, or perhaps just need some extra support with schoolwork, I can help.

I am a Spanish native speaker born and raised in Spain. I attended University both in Spain and Germany. After graduating I moved to Germany permanently, where I spent seven years working as a translator for the United Nations. I love foreign languages and I want you to love them too (or at least, not dread them). I'm fully fluent in German. Having learned it as a second language myself, I know all the tricky bits and how to explain them so you'll understand them once and for all.

Now I live in beautiful Edinburgh, where I have set up my own tutoring and translation business. My mission is to help students like you get better grades in Spanish and German.

Private tutoring can do wonders for a student's confidence. Whether you are struggling to keep up in class or just need a bit of extra support, you'll benefit greatly from one-to-one tuition. After a few sessions with me you can be sure to make tangible progress that will be reflected on your grades. If you're stressed about sitting National 5 or GCSE in May, stop worrying. I'm here to make sure you are fully prepared for exam success.

Exam time looms but it's not too late! Let me help you get the grades you long for.

Teaching Experience:

I am passionate about helping my students to improve their grades and achieve their full potential in Spanish and German. Over the years, I have:

Gathered +1000 hours of one-to-one tutoring
Helped students to build confidence and achieve exam success
Raised the performance of students by at east one full letter grade
Received positive feedback from students and parents

Tutoring Approach:

Often in school there is only a limited time to review a student's work and understanding. That may not always be enough. Having a private tutor gives students an extra chance to review the areas in which they may be struggling. We work together on the areas of the language that require improvement (grammar, spelling, essay writing) building up a solid foundation. I have a range of extra exercises & activities to reinforce what is being taught at school.

For help with school lessons, we sit together and go through your homework or class work. In doing that, we will come across the concepts that are giving you trouble and I will fill in the gaps.

If you need help to prepare for National 5 or GCSE, we work with past and specimen papers almost entirely, honing exam technique until it becomes second nature.

Get in touch now to find out how I can help you get better grades!

Personal Description:
I am an experienced degree level computer software professional with over 15 years experience designing and developing software using different technologies. I have a a graduate degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Computer Science.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching Maths, Physics, Chemistry at the GCSE level and have regularly assisted university students with their computer science projects.

Tutoring Approach:

I like the hands on approach to tutoring because doing is the best way to learn. So, rather than prescribing how things are or should be done I like to work collaboratively with the student to explore options available to resolve a problem. I will set challenges to test knowledge. I will offer hints as clues to solving problems. I can teach a student how to decompose a problem into smaller parts that can easily be solved. I have done it time and time again and it works. I teach; I do not lecture.

Hola!

I am a native Spanish speaker from Colombia. I have also lived in Barcelona (Spain) for 23 years. I completed a degree in Digital Marketing and Business Management at the University of Medellin, Colombia. I achieved a First.
I moved to England in February, 2010 as I really wanted to improve my English.

I am friendly and hardworking. My personal interests are: salsa, yoga, sports, travelling, nature, meeting new people and listening to music.

Teaching Experience:

In Spain I worked as a private tutor for 12 years. I am familiar with the syllabus at GCSE and A level.

I offer support in all relevant skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I can support students in improving their intonation and pronunciation in order to reach high standards of accuracy. Alternatively, I can work on improving your knowledge and application of Spanish, as I offer advice on how to use key words and structures (e.g. verb tenses, adverbs, etc.).

Tutoring Approach:

I use a range of resources to support students (worksheets, videos, CDs) together with a variety of methods (from traditional writing and reading exercises to games and role plays). I can adapt my teaching to suit your learning style and priorities (e.g. improving writing skills to prepare coursework).

I am looking forward to hearing from you!
