Personal Description:
Before coming into teaching, I worked in the Music Industry as a professional session singer. The work was varied and diverse. I sang with many named artistes and toured on an international level. I also have extensive experience in the recording studio. In 2005, I deceided to 'change direction' and studied Performance Arts, gaining a BA Hons Degree in the subject in 2008.
I studied Shakespeare, Stanislavski and many other drama practioners and methods.
I feel that because of my life experience, I bring a very friendly approach to my teaching. Also, being a 'mature student' myself has added to my understanding of needing alittle 'help' at times.
My approach is a mixture of theory and practical. I like to make sure that my student understands where he/she is approaching the given subject - be it an acting method or a scripted reading.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating with honours, I went on to gain a Post Grad teaching degree (PGCE). I have been teaching singing privately for the past eight years and started teaching drama and performing arts since 2006. Whilst doing my PGCE, I was employed as a part-time lecturer for performance arts at Salford University teaching 2nd year degree students.
I have taught at a private performing schools whose ages range from 6 to 18 years old and at private acting academy that is attached to ITV studios in Leeds.
Because of all my experience, I am able to cover three subjects to any level - drama, singing and Musical Theatre.

Since 2013, I have been tutoring at my home. Please note: I have cats and dogs so be aware of this if you have any allergies.

Tutoring Approach:

On our first meeting, I like to find out just where the student is at in their given subject; what their past experiences are and what their expectations are of having extra tuition. An understanding of their strengths and weaknesses is also important to find out at an early stage so that together, we can plan a way forward.
I am a friendly, patient and easy-going person with a very good sense of humour but I take my teaching very seriously and remain quite passionate about drama and performing arts on the whole.
I always like to make sure that the student leaves my class with full understanding of the work we have done and will ensure that any questions or concerns are addressed before the end of the lesson.

Personal Description:
Hello! / Bonjour!

Would you like to improve your French or English during the summer or even start learning French as a beginner?

I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher of French and English as a Foreign Language and have taught French from Year 1 right up to A Level. I have also taught English as a Foreign Language to all age groups including university level and adults.

I adore languages and travelling and really enjoy sharing this passion through teaching.

Don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like more information :)

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach French in a prep school to children from Year 1 - Year 8 (Common Entrance Level) and greatly enjoy teaching this variety of age groups.

Before doing my PGCE, I taught English as a Foreign Language in Austria, Germany and France. During my time in France, I worked as a 'lectrice' teaching English as a foreign language to classes of university students in France (Poitiers and Lyon). I also gave private tuition at the same time, including working with children from 5 years old up to teenagers and adults.

On my Erasmus year, I was an au pair for two French children (5 and 8), I also babysat for 3 bilingual children (French and English) and organised an 'English club' for 5-8 year olds so I have lots of experience working with children and helping them learn a second language.

Tutoring Approach:

Knowing myself what it is like to learn a language and having been greatly inspired by teachers with a good sense of humour, I too am always positive, patient and creative when teaching. I care very much about the progress of my students and like to tailor enjoyable lessons that encourage their enthusiasm for the subject and allow them to benefit as much as possible from the classes.

Personal Description:
I'm a 23-year-old graduate of the University of Cambridge, having recently completed my studies and earning a First-Class Honours degree in Natural Sciences (Physics) with a Merit at the Masters course in Mathematics. Have lived in Leeds for a while, moving to Edinburgh to work on a PhD at the end of the Summer. Am keen on sharing my knowledge and experience with the next generation.

Tutored one student between November 2012 and April 2013 with positive feedback. A reference is not yet available. I have worked in the past with several students during lessons, and also spent one hour with a student that helped life her GCSE maths grade from B to A. In addition have prepared several fully-worked and explained answers to questions posted online (links available on request).

Tutoring Approach:

I try to ensure that the student is guided through the subject as clearly as possible, with a lot of questions asked of the student when appropriate, that hopefully will allow him/her to think through the topic for themselves. In addition I aim to provide a clear understanding of why the topic being studied is important/ where it allows us to end up, and so on.

Personal Description:
Trained at the School of Design in Altos de Chavon (Affiliated to Parsons New School for Design, New York), my art has taken me all the way around the world from the Caribbean, South America to Hong Kong to Portugal, and now UK. My technique varies depending on projects and as I have a strong background in Design Programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, in Fine Arts/ Illustration mediums such as Oil paints, Acrylic, Pastels, etc. Performing Arts, and exhibition assistant, I like to keep an open mind always and that has lead my art to be very versatile.

I teach Spanish as well. Its a great language and fun to speak, and very easy to learn.

Teaching Experience:

I have 2+years as an Art teacher and have been a private tutor for a few months.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understand, confidence and enthusiasm for each project. My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and homework to check understanding continually.

I usually focus on exam-style, past paper questions, or drawing exams in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding and technique. Where appropriate I set and mark work, giving students detailed feedback so that they can improve quickly.

Personal Description:
My name is Rebecca and I am an enthusiastic and hardworking teacher. I am 23 years old and believe that my friendly, patient approach to teaching allows children to reach their full potential. I am flexible and I will use a variety of teaching methods to help with English and Maths at a primary level.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching across the primary age groups and I have experience of working in one-to-one situations in a classroom. I have planned for all abilities and I have ensured that my work is differentiated according to each child's varying needs; this will reflect in my tutoring. During my classroom teaching experience, I have gained ideas for different techniques to help children with their English and Maths; this will again reflect in my tutoring. For example, I often believe that a practical approach helps significantly with Maths and will incorporate this into my tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly and patient individual whose tutoring will be tailored to my tutee's needs. I believe that a calm approach is essential and that each tutee learns in their own unique ways; therefore I will find a way to help based on how the tutee learns best. I am very approachable and encouraging and will build a positive environment for the tutee to learn to the best of their ability.

Personal Description:
Hello! If you're looking for intensive revision before an important exam, or long-term assistance throughout the academic year, then look no further. I graduated with first class honours in 2014 having studied Business Economics for 3 years at Nottingham Trent University. Since leaving University I have pursued a career in financial services, which has given me the perfect opportunity to apply many of the skills I developed throughout education to real-world situations. I have had a keen interest in maths and statistics since a young age, demonstrating my ability by achieving an A at GCSE in Maths and an A in Statistics. This was a contributing factor towards my study of economics given how the two subjects interlink, achieving a B at Economics at A level. All of these skills were brought together at University, with my degree heavily reliant on the use of statistics as well as algebra and other important maths concepts. I am keen to help you/your child achieve their maths goals, and I hope that I can use my use of maths in my every day work to show how important maths and economics skills are both academically and for the real world.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my time at school, sixth form and university I was always keen to teach peers both as part of large groups in class and on an individual basis, something I enjoyed because it helped me to develop my own skills and also because of the reward of seeing someone else do well as a result of my help. This has included me teaching a fellow GCSE student at the time of my own studying, as well as more recently helping a colleague with her entrance exams for her PGCE teaching exams. I also completed a week of work experience at my local primary school, which was an opportunity for me to develop my coaching skills in the best environment.

Tutoring Approach:

Having personally varied my own learning techniques throughout education dependent on the subject and the learning environment, I understand that every individual learns in a different way; I will use the early stages of tutoring to gauge the needs and learning styles of the tutee, and alter my teaching to these needs. Whilst I am keen believer that each individual has their own learning style, I also believe it is important that everyone tries new styles to work out which is most effective for them. Personally I like the use of extensive notes when first learning to understand a concept or theory, and then more concise notes that can I can use to prompt myself later on. Finally, I think that encouraging someone to regularly sit previous exam papers can develop the skills in a more applied environment whilst also helping a student to be more relaxed when it comes to the real exam situation.
