I first came to the UK in 1994, after studying history and culture in China. I'm married to a well-known British translator of Chinese, and I live in Whitley Bay.

Teaching Experience:

I taught Mandarin at Newcastle University Business School in the 1990s, when I also taught business people in companies such as Yves St. Laurent, both one-to-one and in small groups. I also gave supplementary tuition to British undergraduates in reading, writing, listening and speaking Mandarin, on a one-to-one basis.
I taught Mandarin in Hong Kong from 2000 to 2009, to all age groups, from toddlers to retirees, both privately and in companies; I taught both Cantonese speakers and non-Chinese English speakers. I also taught at the Hong Kong Open University.

Tutoring Approach:

I have worked on one-to-one and small group teaching: I like an interactive situation where tutor and student work out the student's needs together, and the tutor helps the student to meet his/her goals by acting as facilitator and learning advisor.
My focus is on learning, and not on teaching: it is the tutor's job to help the student learn better, until the point is reached where the student has become an effective and autonomous learner, and no longer needs a teacher.
Many of my students have become friends and remained friends.

I am a Physics graduate from Loughborough University working as a Tutor full time. In my spare time I will either be traveling (we are not talking hotels and beaches), playing sport or watching football up and down the UK. I have worked as a Patent Attorney and a Civil Engineer since University, but have discovered that Tutoring is my real passion.

My services are especially useful if your child has ADHD or any behavioral problems, as I was undiagnosed ADHD throughout my education and I understand (and of course, relate) far more than most about the associated struggles.

Teaching Experience:

I have undergone several teaching placements (Primary and Secondary) where I have taught Maths and Physics and have also taught Business English to clients (including several CEO's) in countries such as Hungary and Poland. Feedback on these exam questions is essential, and I will work to understand why the student is struggling with the problems, and build on the methods they are already using to answer the problems.

The basis of my lessons consists of the notions which everyone needs in order to know a foreign language, aspects related to the cultural and the real life and the attention on the typical rules of the foreign language.

With delight and interest I concentrate on the efficient use of a variety of media (songs, short films, films, books, newspaper articles, literature) which could animate the lessons.

My eagerness and determination to learn and teach foreign languages (French, English and Italian) developed my interest in analyzing, comparing and synthesizing information as well as enabling me to discover various methods of teaching a considerable amount of knowledge. Through assiduity and responsibility I managed to find the path towards mastering these foreign languages and teaching them with enthusiasm.

Foreign languages are a source of mystery, a mix of rules and originality, a mine of meanings and linguistic surprises, a challenge. I've always found them a very absorbing and fulfilling but sometimes frustratingly vast field which attracts and challenges to a thorough study and wider analysis.

I learned that paying close attention to quality of all my work and grasping opportunities to learn new skills must be prioritized by professional workers.

I am Spanish teacher living in London. I am really friendly, responsible and I will always love to learn as many languages as possible.

Teaching Experience:

I studied a degree on Translation and Interpreting so I have a good English and French. Two years ago, I ended my MA degree on Spanish language and culture which is mainly focused on teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

I have been an English assistant teacher in two Summer Camps for 4 to 6 year old children and also taught Spanish as a foreign language to Erasmus students coming to the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
I have also been personal tutor of many children between 5 and 15 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I really try to focus on a Communicative Method, I make sure grammar is learned but I do not focus on showing grammar as a separate subject which has to be learned by hard. I try to show real texts (news articles, stories, tales, etc) and once you are able to understand the vocabulary, you will notice how is grammar used in different contexts.
There is no sense of teaching a language without a real context, I try to avoid inventing sentences which have no meaning at all.

In case you wish to try different approaches, I have no inconvenience on adapting it to what you really want to do.

I am a bilingual and bi-cultural French-American. I first came to Belfast in 2009 to study at Queens University. After obtaining my degree, I realized I wanted to stay in Northern Ireland and devote myself to befriending its lovely people, finding peace through its beautiful landscape and sharing my knowledge of the French and English language with an ever-growing swell of curious students.
I grew up in France, just west of Paris, and attended a very prestigious international school that boasts rigorous bilingual education. As a result, I am well versed in both French and English systems of education.
I am also the proud mother of a young boy who is also being brought up completely bilingual.
My interests include art (more of a passion, really), literature (particularly French novels) and food (growing up in France helped a lot!).

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching a small class of mature students in the Belfast area. They are at an intermediate level and find the material we explore in the classroom to be highly stimulating. Also currently, I am giving personalized French tuition to A-level students. In this manner, I am well familiar with the course syllabus for secondary school and have been smoothing out whatever difficulties pupils may have regarding exams.
My past experience as a French language tutor also includes teaching absolute beginners at the Language Centre in Queens University in Belfast.
I have also given private one to one tuition to students from all different walks of life and different proficiency levels; from post-graduates looking to brush up on their skills before a holiday or work placement in France to married couples wanting to learn the foundations of the language before relocating to the French countryside.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is purely student-centred. I believe that the student's needs should lead how the lessons are designed. In other words, I pay very close attention to my students' interests, levels, motivations, difficulties etc. in order to produce a course that will respond to their needs and help them find the meaning, direction and confidence they need to master the language. My lessons are highly personalized to ensure the student can relate to the material and be compelled to participate actively. My main objectives when teaching are to engage my students with stimulating material, challenge and encourage their natural aptitudes and finally, to reward their efforts through positive and constructive feedback.
I believe in everyone's ability to master any language so long as the teacher breathes life into the language and in so doing, sparks the pupil's curiosity, imagination, confidence and critical thought.

I love to teach student who is interested learning. I know the trick to let enjoy learning to make sure my student is enjoying learning and understanding what i'm trying to teach.

I'm happy to teach online (skype). If the student does know how to set up skype, i will visit your home and will set up skype and will show my student how to use it. A part from my tuition hour, if there is extra hour needs i'm happy to provide extra hours in tuition.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching GCSE and A level students in Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Student was able to develop their skills and achieved A*/9.
Some student set up their target for B but i changed their target for A/A* and they were able to achieve that grade.

Tutoring Approach:

If you live too far from me and traveling is not possible then i would prefer to teach on online to save time both side. Parent don't need to waste time to drop or pick up their children. I can record the teaching session if parents want to see what their children learning. They can see straight way what their children is learning.

I am a good communicator who can speak four languages fluently: English, German, Ukrainian and Russian. Although originally I come from Ukraine, Russian is my native language as I was born and lived in Odessa (Russian speaking part of Ukraine) for most of my life. I have also completed full secondary education in Russian back in Ukraine and at the age of 17, I moved from Ukraine to further my studies in England. I enjoy meeting new people, understanding their background and where they're from as well as exploring new places and cultures.

I am also a motivated individual,who loves helping people to learn something new and seeing them progress.

Teaching Experience:

In Ukraine I used teach children aged from 10-15 English language, helping them with their school homework and constantly taking a step further with their language knowledge. Also back in boarding school in England I used to help English pupils, who were studying Russian for their A-levels to prepare for their wiring and oral exams.

Tutoring Approach:

As a fluent speaker of four languages, I really do understand all the challenges learners of the new language might face. I believe that vocabulary and grammar are basis for any language studies. It provides fundamentals,which with practice will improve the language skills itself. However, knowing grammar rules isn't helpful until you can actually use it in real world. Thus, I believe that combining both grammar and speaking exercises in classes can bring the best results, trying to use grammar rules, while speaking.

I would divide sessions in two parts trying to cover both grammar and speaking on different topics.This should improve both the use of grammar and vocabulary skills. I am also happy to support any current academic material and answer any questions a learner might have. By following such teaching strategy, step by step, a learner will improve the knowledge of the language.

I am a fully qualified and practising English language and literature teacher at secondary school level (KS3 to GCSE).English teaching is not just a profession to me but a life long passion to inspire and develop students in my chosen subject.This makes me patient, flexible, creative and enthusiastic. Initially,I will assess a student to target areas for development unless a learner has specific needs which he/she intends to focus on.Since every student is an individual, who learns at their own pace and style, I will adapt my tutoring techniques to suit those personal requirements.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating from the University of Leeds with an English language and literature degree in 2001, I worked as a Core subject Mentor (English specialist) at secondary school where I conducted booster classes with small groups and individuals (0f different abilities) in order to raise attainment. After completing my teacher training,I taught English from key stage 3 to GCSE level (11 -16)in various secondary schools across West Yorkshire.
I have extensive experience of teaching to the new GCSE requirements of major exam boards such as WJEC and AQA. Along with this, I am familiar (and resourced) with most set texts used in schools. I am currently teaching English at a Secondary school.

I hold Masters in Philosophy & Politics and Media & Film at the Stockholm University (Sweden) and University of Bari (Italy). Teaching Experience:

In 2012 I started tutoring kids in secondary school, teaching subjects spanning from mathematics to religion studies, from design to natural sciences. In January 2014 I begun working as teaching assistant and tutor at the University of St Andrews, conducting seminars, advising students and marking essays and exams in Media & Film. Since September 2015 I have been working for a tutoring agency in Scotland and tutored students in Politics, History, Media & Communication and Film.

My tutorials start by assessing the student's understanding of the subject. I then address the areas that need clarification by breaking them down into more basic questions/tasks. I always provide examples, which help students master the subject and remember it more easily. Finally, I always make sure there is enough time to recap at the end of each tutoring session.
I am at the same time authoritative and friendly, and the students and their parents have so far always trusted and appreciated my work.
