Personal Description:
I moved from Henley-on-Thames to Bampton in October 2011. In 2012, I worked three days a week in an independent girls' school in Exeter, providing one-to-one support for a girl in Year 9 and also taught English Literature to Year 7 & Year 13 classes.

I have a passion for the written word and its performance in poetry and drama.

I am a mother with three grown-up children and a grandmother, and very interested in how young people view and contribute to the world in which they live.

I have an MA (with Merit) in Postcolonial Studies from SOAS, University of London (2015) and a First Class Honours BA degree in English and Classics from the University of Reading (1996).

I can offer lessons in my home in Bampton or online via email and Skype. Skype has proved to be a highly successful way of teaching and I now teach across the globe using this medium,

Teaching Experience:

In addition to working in a school in Exeter (outlined above), I have been a highly successful English tutor for many years, originally based in the South-East. Most of my client base is private but I also work for two top London tuition agencies. I am a highly experienced tutor and currently have students in English Language & Literature from KS1 to 'A' level/IB. I also work with undergraduates & postgraduates in various disciplines, providing guidance in the structure of their essays, particularly dissertations, and academic writing. Additionally, in 2014/15 I tutored the complete AQA GCSE Classical Civilisation syllabus to a Year 9 student via Skype, who obtained an A as her final grade.

I also have experience in helping adults with their business English and have written marketing copy for the commercial sector.

Tutoring Approach:

When I tutor a student, I search for a 'tailor-made' way to help increase their self-esteem and confidence. This enhances the learning they already receive in the classroom. The study of texts offers student and tutor alike not only an opportunity to develop communication one with another but also insight into the life experiences of others, both in past generations and the wider world today.

I have helped numerous students to achieve higher than their predicted grades at both GCSE, IB and 'A' level and have many excellent references available. My students have come from the public, private and state school sectors and with varying levels of academic ability.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a PhD in Applied Maths, and wish to use some of my experience of the subject to help other students reach their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have several years of experience of tutoring undergraduate students in maths at the University of Sheffield. These were mostly Fundamental and 1st year maths courses, at a similar standard to A-level.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide one-to-one or small group tuition in a relaxed, friendly environment tailored to the student's needs. My approach is mainly to establish areas of weakness in the student's understanding, and try to help them overcome these by explaining the basic principles and working through example questions with them.

Personal Description:
My name is Daniel and I currently study Ancient History and Archaeology at Reading University, I am originally from Guernsey and studied at Elizabeth College, for my A-Levels I took Ancient History (A at A2) Classics (A at AS) Design and Technology (A at A2 with 98% in coursework) and Photography (B at A2). I also have some background in french speaking and teaching Sailing.

Teaching Experience:

During my time at Elizabeth College I was a cadet leader in charge of 50 or so cadets, this role involved teaching the recruits various aspects of the curriculum, from theoretical to applied learning.
I am also a sailing and Powerboat instructor, this was paid work over the summer, where I would take children, relatively new to the sport, and within a week have them sailing proficiently on their own.
During these activities I would be teaching young adolescent and the occasional 10-11 year old.

-As a one to one student you will always have the undivided attention of the teacher for the entire lesson.
-All lesson plans can be individually tailored to your needs.
-We can spend as little or as long on any given individual topic until it is properly understood. The choice is yours.
-The 1:1 - teacher to student ratio cannot be beaten.

With education a solid foundation of knowledge must be laid before additional levels can be built upon it; otherwise the structure in question will inevitably fail.

Tutoring Approach:

I would say I very much hands on, first I would read ahead in the curriculum, in order to ensure my understanding of the subject was clear, I would then form a powerpoint in order to provide a visual learning point, whilst I would orate the background to the student, It would follow a chronological order, and would and in-depth background knowledge that would help the student understand the subject matter better, and allow the student to access higher grades

Personal Description:
I am a PhD Candidate at the Glasgow Caledonian University, with Wireless Optical Communication as my area of research. I have earned my Bachelors' and Masters' degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, and have been a top-performer, academically, all throughout my education. My stronghold is basic as well as advanced Mathematics. I am also well-versed with the core concepts of Electronics and wired/wireless Communication.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored students for more than 5 years working part-time whilst I was pursuing my bachelors and masters degree. I have taught young students Maths, Science and English. I have also been catering to the needs of students pursuing higher education, specifically in Electrical and Communications engineering, where I helped them out with core concepts of related subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in active learning, a quality which I try to bestow to my students as well. All students have their own way of understanding concepts, and each takes his/her own time to grasp those concepts. I am very patient with all my students and try to explain things in a manner in which they would easily comprehend. I also encourage my students to take down notes, which I believe is an easier and faster way of learning things.

Personal Description:
I am Cambridge graduate and A level and GCSE biology teacher who is looking to take on a few tutees. I have over 15 years teaching experience and was head of biology at my previous school.

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced A level biology tutor who has taught all of the examining board specifications. I have tutored students at all levels of ability and many of these have scored A s and gone on to Oxbridge or Russel group universities . Before becoming a teacher, I worked full time as a private tutor for 7 years which I enjoyed immensely. I have missed both the challenges and the emotional rewards of private tutoring and am now looking for students with whom I can work to help achieve their aspired grades in biology. Over the course of my teaching and tutoring I have build up a large resource of past papers, challenging and informative questions and many approaches to teaching difficult subjects. I also regularly work as an examiner on A level papers and so can offer extensive advice on exam technique and the best approaches to answering questions.

Tutoring Approach:

I am enthusiastic and patient and have been told that I offer a friendly and safe learning environment where students feel supported but also motivated and challenged to improve both their understanding and grades

Personal Description:
After completing a BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science degree at Sheffield Hallam University, I began a three year postgraduate research degree (PhD) with the Oncology Research Group at Nottingham Trent University. During this time, I was given the opportunity to lecture / demonstrate to undergraduate science students, which involved supervising practical laboratory sessions and assessment of written coursework. I found this experience immensely rewarding and as a result, decided to pursue a career in teaching.

I qualified as a teacher in June 2002 and I began teaching science at a local secondary school in September 2002 and I became Head of Department in March 2007.

Teaching Experience:

I have 13 years teaching experience and 10 years experience managing a successful science department. I am also an examiner (GCSE Science) for the AQA and OCR boards and I have been doing private home tuition since 2010. I believe that science education should be engaging, relevant to the student`s everyday lives and foster an appreciation of how science can benefit future generations.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I aim to build confidence in my students, as experience has taught me that this is often the barrier that is preventing them from progressing within the classroom. I also place a strong emphasis on exam technique, so that students can apply their knowledge successfully in an exam to achieve their potential.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified Mathematics teacher currently working as a full time teacher. I am available during weekdays
after 4pm and weekends (Flexible). I have worked in various schools as a Maths teacher, hence fully understand the national curriculum of each year group.
I am a patient and motivating teacher. I have helped many young learners to achieve great results in Maths.

Teaching Experience:

As mentioned above, I am a qualified teacher. Apart from my full time job as a teacher, I take private tuition for children from year 5 to GCSE. I have 6 years of private tutoring experience.

I use a variety of approaches whilst tutoring. It varies from pure problem solving, questioning, activities, Bingo Maths, Treasure hunt etc.

Tutoring Approach:

Being a Maths teacher, I strongly believe that one cannot excel in Maths without a strong foundation of basic Maths skills. My main focus area would be to give a clear understanding of the basics of each topic.

In order to identify the weaker areas, I conduct an initial assessment. I plan lessons based on the result of the Initial assessment.
I am a strong believer of extended work. Hence each learner will be given homework.
Practicing exam style questions is very important to achieve better results in exams and moving ahead in class sets. I give importance to homework and exam style questions.

Personal Description:
Love all sports - particularly football, rugby, athletics.
Love Theatre & Drama
Devoted Family Man

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching undergraduates in Psychology & statistics at Sunderland University but then became a full time teacher of Psychology in 1994 after completing my PGCE. By 1997 I was Head of Psychology at a large Sixth Form College & I became a Senior Tutor in 2000. In 2005 I was promoted to lead Pastoral Care in one of the largest sixth form colleges in the country. In 2001 I took up the role of Psychology Examiner for the OCR board and served for 6 years before leaving formal teaching in 2007. Since then I have set up a training company delivering courses to teachers in one-to-one guidance. In 2014, I re-visited the role of Psychology Examiner for OCR & I am currently expanding my commitment to assessment and have recently completed an additional qualification for OCR.

Tutoring Approach:

Every learner is different & it follows that the reasons for struggling with a subject are different. Therefore it is crucial for a tutor to understand the students' approach to study in order to design appropriate sessions to enable progress in that subject. For me, knowing the student is just as important as knowing the subject.
Exam Focus. To achieve the higher grades at Psychology, you have to be confident with independent critical analysis. By focusing our sessions on the higher skills involved in psychology - research methods, ethics, issues, etc - you will develop your confidence in this area.
