Personal Description:
I'm a 46-year old graduate of the excellent University of Sussex languages course with a First Class Honours degree in French and Russian. I lived for four years in Paris where I mastered the language and the accent!

As well as language studies, my course encompassed literature from the 16th to the 20th centuries and history, society and politics since the French Revolution - subjects I am therefore qualified to talk about with some authority.

I like to stay abreast of French culture and society and am catching up with some novels I didn't get to read at university (most recently Georges Perec's wonderful <i>La Vie, mode d'emploi</i>)

Teaching Experience:

I have now been privately tutoring students at all levels for 6 years covering most UK exam boards at GCSE KS3 and KS4, AS and A2-level, and I have also helped prepare older students for the DELF.

Recent successes include steering a young lady through her DELF B1 exam with a 92.5% mark and an 11-year old girl passing her selective school entrance exam.

Here are some comments from a couple of clients - originals available on request.

<i>"Thank you so much for all your patient hard work - you taught her exactly the right stuff and there is no way she could have done it without you! I really didn't think it was possible to teach the whole year 7 curriculum in a week but somehow you managed it.

"Tiffin Girls is one of the top state schools in the country and rather competitive. Chatting to the other parents outside the exam, most of the competitors went to good independents or had been tutored over a long period of time. <b>You really knew not only what to teach but how to teach it, which shows you have exceptional skills.</b>"</i> - Anoushka (pupil's mother)

<i>"Just thought I should let you know I got an A! Thanks for all your help"</i> - Helena (A-level student)

Tutoring Approach:

It is important to tailor lessons specifically to a student's needs, but my general method is to engage him or her at a level just above their 'comfort zone'. Learning is about challenging yourself to do better, and it is crucial for a tutor to be supportive and encouraging, and also to keep the bar high.

Lessons can be conducted entirely in French, or in a mixture of English and French. I can work alongside a student's existing course (that is, from a textbook a student is already following), or we can use course books that I recommend.

Where the level allows, I like to draw upon material from contemporary sources such as French news magazines.

For "conversation classes", I find it is useful to base the discussion on an article or a book to help build vocabulary, and also think that incorporating grammar instruction (where appropriate) can be a good idea.

Note that hourly rates are based on the student travelling to my home. If you require tutoring at your own home or office, there is an extra charge per lesson, dependent on distance travelled. Please contact me for more details!

Personal Description:
Qualified Teacher Status since 2013 by the Department of Education and Leadership in UK.
University Bachelor's Degree in Teaching specialized in Foreign Languages.
City and Guilds Certificate to teach Adult learners

Teaching Experience:

Since I left University in 1999 I have been teaching all levels of Spanish courses. I have worked for Redbridge and Barking&Dagenham colleges of Adult Education , teaching GCSE,AS/A2 and Advanced Conversation Courses. I have an excellent record of one-to-one tutoring with a very successful exam results. I also have the opportunity to work as an examiner for one of the boards which has given me more insight into the expectations for Spanish GCSE exams.
Familiar with AQA and EDEXCEL examining boards and their controlled assesments

Tutoring Approach:

Spanish is an amazing language! I believe learners need to understand the grammar well as this aspect is essencial to get good grades in their final exams. One-to-one tuition is the support your children need to gain confidence and not to give up before the extreme pressure of their exams. Once this is achieved learners will perform much better!
Past paper exams are also a good tools to help learners to be familiar with the exam requirements.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced and qualified tutor based in London and I am offering One-to-One tuition to students of all ages and levels. I can coach you in preparation of internationally certified exams or simply help you learning a new language or improving your skills (grammar, reading, conversation, speaking...)

Teaching Experience:

I have several years experience as a tutor and private teacher for small groups, and I am confident teaching students of any age.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a number of essential books and they all depends on the students' levels and preferences. I sometimes mix chapters and books to deliver effective results and tailor classes to students needs.

My workplace has boards, a printer and I use videos if needed.

I teach from my teaching centre. It's a friendly, non-judgemental workplace that has all the necessary tools for teaching, including white boards, sheets, two computers, Arabic books, fast broadband and free tea and coffee. Also, The building has free, secure parking, a waiting area for parents accompanying their children and CCTVs everywhere :-) So, hopefully students will find that arrangement convenient and relaxing.

I aim to provide a solid grounding in Arabic, English and Koran while paying close attention to the needs of the individual. Learning should be fun and engaging, not a sort of punishment.

When teaching Koran, I don't impose my views on the student. I only educate him/her on what the text says and leave its spiritual interpretation to his/her judgement.

Personal Description:
I was born in Xi'an China, where the Terracotta Army were found also a birth place of Chinese history and culture. I graduated from a Chinese University with BA degree in English. I studied Chinese language and culture all the through my school life. I have worked as a tour guide, part-time teacher and a business man in China.

I moved to UK in 2001 and settled here with my family. In order to continue my enthusiasm for teaching Chinese in the UK, I have attended the prepare to teach course in a local collage to learn about the different theory and approach of teaching in the UK, which has helped me greatly.

I like history and culture and I love teaching people Chinese language and culture.

Teaching Experience:

Part time teaching in state school in China
Private tutoring since 2005 in the UK
the main teacher for our local Chinese community Chinese learning class which is held every Saturday in a local council library and it has been running for 3 years.
City and Guilds Certificate of Level 4 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) from Stafford College.

My previous and ongoing clients include Crossbow Education Ltd, Aldi Superstore, Orangetek Ltd, plus many individuals from Burton on Trent, Wolverhampton, Stoke on Trent, Stafford and surrounding areas.

Tutoring Approach:

I understood that a native speaker of one language is not automatically a language tutor, especially when teaching someone with totally different language and culture background.
I understood that younger people and the wiser people would like different approaches of learning.
I understood different learners have different motivation and target of learning, either business or leisure.
I provide one to one teaching or in a group, I use self designed learning materials to make your learning more personal and fun.
Homework will be given each time, as commitment and disciplines are fundamentally important.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Manchester and currently working in the UK. As a native speaker, I would like to help with your mandarin studying. I have no problem with children, extensive travel, study and residence experience in the UK and Europe, we could have a great talk and learn from each other.

Teaching Experience:

I don't have professional teaching experience before, but I have been doing language exchange with many friends or a while, I taught Mandarin for my friends who are from USA, UK and Germany etc, provided sources for their Mandarin studying, and we also do culture exchange. I am good at developing different language learning tools for different people.

Tutoring Approach:
