Tutoring Approach:

I try to be a role model for my students and help them by building trusting relationships between the student, myself and their Parents. By providing regular feedback, and information in which the student can achieve their goals, and ensuring we work together to help the children achieve their targets.

Greater results are achieved when there is a strong bonding between the tutor, child & Parents. I also appreciate that all children have different needs and learning styles and I tailor my sessions to each child's individuals needs.

Every child understands and works at a different pace & Level, so I explain a topic in a way that makes sense to them rather then the way a teacher would explain. If the child feels relaxed with me, they are more likely to learn something. I do use Digital Media or a Whiteboard if and when needed.

I am currently Assistant Head Teacher at Stoke College, near Sudbury, and have been teaching English for ten years. After having completed a qualification in advanced Spanish in Salamanca in Spain, I returned to the UK to complete a degree in Psychology. Following university I went to drama school, and college to learn to teach English as a foreign language. I have taught Spanish and English privately since graduating, and love to see my students improving in their language. I am trained in phonetics, so can help improve in Spanish pronunciation, and with British English or American pronunciation. Teaching Experience:

Before completing the CELTA course I taught Spanish privately and in groups at the university of Sheffield. While at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School I taught private Spanish, and also drama/speech preparation to those wishing to get into drama school, then of course during my CELTA course I was constantly teaching English to classes and privately. I have taught private lessons in Spanish and English since then, and am doing so currently. As you can imagine, from living in Spain, a degree in Psychology, a professional acting qualification and teacher training, I've been around the study of people and how they work for a while now. I have a modern approach to language teaching and want to make it as fun and interesting as possible. The mixture between a Psychology degree, an acting degree, and a CELTA course mean my approach to teaching is empathic and eclectic. I may use traditional board methods, or role-playing techniques to make sure my students' learning styles are explored and made use of. I would be perfect for any native Spanish speaker as I can relate language points to make comprehension of English clear, and for any English speaker who wants to learn Spanish. As stated above, my knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet and its application makes me a good choice for anyone additionally wanting to improve their English, or Spanish pronunciation. I have lived in Spain, so I understand what it's like to live in a foreign country where you don't know the language. I have training in phonetics from both drama school and the CELTA course, so am a good choice for pronunciation practice in an addiction to language improvement.

I am a fully qualified secondary school art teacher, and university lecturer in History of Art. I completed my PhD in History of Art at University College London (UCL) in 2013. I have published my research in a number of academic journals and edited book collections, and I am currently a Research Fellow at Cornell University Society for the Humanities, USA.

I'm currently based in the United States until August 2017, and I'm presently offering Skype tutorials only until this time. As of August/September I will be based in Hulme, Manchester and can travel up to 20 miles from the city centre, or meet students at my central Manchester art studio. I'm available for Skype appointments at any time, taking into account the time difference (-5 hours EST).

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Art & Design and Photography at KS3, KS4 & KS5. I have 10 years teaching experience, including working as a specialist Learning Support Teacher, and in Special Needs schools catering for children and young adults with a range of special educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities.

I have particular expertise in studio practice (art and design), digital and darkroom photography (theory, history and practice), literacy, social and vocational skills, as well as History of Art, Anthropology and History of Medicine at undergraduate level.

I am also experienced in teaching at undergraduate level, having taught gallery-based first year History of Art courses, for University College London's History of Art Department, and on the History of Art degree programme at the University of Manchester.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a one-to-one, flexible approach to learning and teaching, which first establishes the needs and goals of the student, and then sets out clearly structured strategies for achieving these goals. These may be results-focused when preparing for exams, or aimed at developing a broader understanding of a subject area, depending upon the student's own priorities. I am happy to work with any course materials the student may provide, and I am familiar with all current GCSE and A Level syllabuses. I am able to guide both GCSE and A Level students through their studies, offering consistent, dedicated 1-2-1 tuition for the full term of the course. I can also provide practical tuition for students who are preparing their art portfolios for University submission, and can offer assistance with UCAS forms and references for students who undertake long-term A Level tuition with me.

Tutoring may take place at the student's home, or at my art studio in central Manchester, where I can provide a range of art materials and resources by prior arrangement, for more intensive practical art sessions. Please note that I can travel within 20 miles of central Manchester based on the fee structure quoted below, travelling further will incur a small additional fuel fee.

I have had recent successes with my private students, one of whom attended one-to-one sessions at my Manchester studio for 8 weeks and improved her predicted GCSE Art result of a B by two grades, achieving an A* in her final art exam. My most recent undergraduate students have also attained First class results in their undergraduate degrees. One student achieved a high score of 78 on her History of Art dissertation project with intensive tutorial support conducted via Skype; and another progressed from a fail during the first year of his Visual Communication degree, to a First class final result in his third year, following 2 years of regular commitment to one-to-one tutoring.

*Please note that due to the time-intensive nature of undergraduate level tutoring, I am only able to take on a maximum of three undergraduate tutees at any given time. Please see below for my current availability for tutoring at this level.*

Tutoring Approach:

Tutorial have been the answer for grade related problems of every students. Most of the time students encounter such problems because of inattentiveness due to confusions that is being created during their daily lessons at school. During my tutoring every detail is scrutinized up to the single one.

As a tutor I love showing my tutees the joy of learning through different activities which they will always find interesting. With my pursuit to help students I have different strategies being used depending upon the age and level of difficulty of the topic to be taught.

I strongly believe that a good tutor knows how to listen to his tutee. I always let my tutees to tell their concerns, and have a personal talk with them. Getting to know each other is the first thing that every tutor should do, this is the best way to help them feel more at ease.

I see to it that my tutees are learning from what I am talking and discussing. This made me a favorite of my previous tutees who are now a tutor to some of their younger friends in their place. I always find the best way to teach them for them to learn the topic in the easiest way possible.

The need to have a good tutor with a heart to its tutee is a must. In my entire experience in tutoring I have learned to established connection to my tutee. As a facilitator of learning it is important to work with students rather than lecturing them. The steps, methods and procedures should be done in a way that all of the details are being understood by the tutee.

A good tutor encourages students to remain active during the period of learning and mentoring. Every tutee would love to be with a tutor who treats him as friend. For me the best way to help the learners is to become their friend and not as somebody who treats them as a student.

Tutoring should be done in a way that is made fun and exciting; no tutee would like to be with a boring tutor. So when I was having my first year of experience in tutoring I always prepare the necessary things in order to make the entire learning process effective.

Aside from being ready for the tutoring sessions, the topics I used to teach them are in line with their discussions. Most of my tutees where having their advance lessons during the tutorial I am giving them, mostly if they are going to join a school competition.

From being a science orientated student from my GCSEs to my A-levels, I went on to develop my expertise in biological sciences with a BSc in Genetics, in Queen Mary College, University of London, and then a MSc in Medical Genetics with Immunology. After working in an Immunology laboratory at Imperial College I went on to achieve a PhD in Immunology at The University of Birmingham focussing on Stem Cell Research.

In teaching English as a foreign language I follow the communicative approach. This means plenty of communication between the student and tutor, rather than spending the whole lesson working through grammar exercises.

My lessons are student centred, which means that each lesson is about the student. My materials are carefully tailored to the individual student and not a 'one text fits all' course book. I try to make my lessons relevant to my student's needs, for example, if you are a chef I base my lessons on cookery; if you work in a shop I base my lessons around retail; and if you are studying for IELTS or residency, I will tutor you for that. I am a current Psychology MSc student. I love learning, but I haven't always felt that way. I currently read one book a week, while not so long ago as a student I truly hated reading. I had a tough time with developing relevant skills, procrastination and a very limited mindset while studying for my A Levels. This resulted in many set backs, high stress and low motivation. However, I learned something that has completely transformed my life in every way. I am determined to share this with others, which is why I love working with young people.

While attempting to find a solution to my 'student problems' I developed a fascination with the human brain. I read extensively on the topics of psychology, neuroscience and learning. The knowledge and tools that I have discovered has helped me to overcome many issues that most students face daily. For this reason I have spent the last 5 years mentoring and coaching students of various ages, to empower them and motivate them to enjoy learning as much as I do.

I am interested in politics, mental health, psychology, nutrition, metaphysics and many more.

My hobbies are yoga, meditation and reading. I also volunteer as a Mentor to a young adult.

Teaching Experience:

In my current role as an Academic Learning Coach at a sixth form college I design and teach study skills workshops, lessons and support students one to one. With over 2 years spent researching how the brain learns, I teach using evidence based methods and share all my knowledge about the brain with the students. I have taught over 800 students in the last year and worked with 100s of students one to one.

As a Student Ambassador at the University of Sheffield I have over 2 years of experience teaching study skills workshops.

I have one year of experience tutoring/mentoring GCSE students in a school setting.

I have one year of experience of Mentoring A Level students in Philosophy and Ethics.

I have 2 months of experience teaching English as foreign language.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my work with 100s of students I have developed a holistic approach to identifying and addressing individual needs of every student. I have created an extensive assessment form and a range of reflective activities to get to know the young person, what motivates them and what stops them from achieving their goals.

During an initial assessment I identify the young persons mindset, confidence, study skills, writing skills, thinking skills, stress management skills, organisation skills, exam skills, goal setting skills and personal development skills.

After an assessment we decide on the type and number of sessions. I then work systematically through each area using coaching and mentoring techniques. There will be a small task for a student to complete after each session.

Often it might be beneficial to work together with a parent during certain sessions.

My adventure with Martial Arts began in 1991 joining in Karate Kyokushin club in Lublin Poland. After 3 years of training, I become an instructor leading numerous groups for children and adults teaching Karate and Self-Defence. Over the years my interest was directed as well onto other Martial Arts, Aikido, Judo, Ju-Jutsu, Shaolin Chi-Na, Jeet Kune Do, moreover I was practicing with Nunchaku, Bo, Tonfa, and Japanese Fencing Kendo. In 2003 I Have erected Bushido School in Lublin teaching Karate KyokushinKan, Free Running, and as a first person in this region Kendo. In 2006 I moved to Edinburg Scotland where In 2010 reached for 3rd Dan in Karate KyokushinKan and become Branch Representative in Scotland. During that time I took part in numerous Tournaments both regional and international competing in Kata (forms) and Kumite (free fight) Achieving 2nd Place In International Tournament Oyama Cup Gdansk 2003.
I was involved in organizing Self Defence seminars with international recognized specialist Rory Miller in Edinburgh and Coordinating his tour in the UK.
Additionally, I have Master Degree in Sociology of Culture Maria-Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin Poland, and I am qualified Hypnotherapist, currently studying Counseling.
Now I am providing individual and group sessions to motivated and open minded students.
