Personal Description:
My name is Andy. I finished my A-Levels in 2011 and am preparing to study German and Russian at The University of Cambridge starting in October. I excelled at languages in school, receiving an A* in German A2 and an A in French AS. Between school and university I studied at the Goethe Institute in Berlin, lived and worked in Germany for over half a year, and am now starting to learn Russian and pusuing my other interests such as computer programming. I have also travelled extensively in France and Germany.

Teaching Experience:

I have no formal teaching experience (yet!) but learning three foreign languages myself and having studied German in a class actually taught in German, I am very familiar with the aspects of language that students have difficulty with. I am always thinking of better ways to explain things than the way they were explained to me, because every student learns in their own way; this makes me well placed to teach languages, German in particular due to my recent experiences in my gap year.

Tutoring Approach:

Having only recently completed my German GCSE myself (in 2009), I am familiar with the way it is taught in school. I also had lessons from a private tutor myself in German for a year or so during secondary school, so I know the sorts of things that will complement and expand on the material taught in class.

Personal Description:
I've just finished a degree in Film and TV in one of the best Universities in Spain (University of Navarra). I've moved to the UK in July 2014 because I was offered to work as an intern in a modest production company in Marlow, in Buckinghamshire. Since October, I've been living in London studying english so I can pass the exam that will allow me to go to an english University next September.

Teaching Experience:

This would be the first time that I'll be teaching spanish to a kid. Although I've been working for the past month with a little girl. But I can assure that the kids will learn as my classes will not be about studying but about having fun with craft, making recipes, playing games and more.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm a hard-working, trustworthy person that loves to play with kids. My teaching methods will be dynamic, practising essentially with the dialogue and not only with theory. The kids will be learning without even noticing. We'll play games, making recipes, etc.

My name is Christina and I am a native Greek tutor. I have a great interest in the interaction between student-teacher and I always enjoy all the new things that I learn from my students. Generally, I would consider myself as a patient person, pleasant, team worker, with great interest in transmitting Greek language to people who have interest in it.

Teaching Experience:

I have served Primary Education in Greece for 12 years, being allocated to islands and remote places in the north borders of Greece. This experience was invaluable, as I had the opportunity to teach children of all possible family, financial and social backgrounds.
Currently I have the opportunity and the pleasure to work in the Greek School of Glasgow for four years now, teaching Greek as a foreign language to children of all ages and to adult students of all ages!

Tutoring Approach:

As teaching is an amazing, interactive process, the tutoring approach depends on the needs of each one of my students. Normally it includes books, handouts, cd's, role play games, interaction activities, songs, skype sessions and web apps.

Personal Description:
I am a focused tutor who is extremely passionate about my chosen subjects and I aim to instil the same passion I have in my subjects, into my students. I take satisfaction in seeing students reach their full potential and it is their success which motivates me.

Teaching Experience:

I tutor my younger sister who is preparing for her 11+ exam and I have supported my brother through his GCSEs which shows I can accommodate various age groups. During sixth form I had the role of providing Maths and Psychology support to those in younger years. Even after leaving sixth form, I was approached by students who wanted support in their A-level studies and found that their grades had significantly improved and they claimed I was able to explain concepts in a way which they could easily understand which was something they found difficult at school.
In the past year, I have tutored numerous students, all ranging in age, who can vouch that I have helped them to achieve the results they were looking for!

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is flexible in that I tailor it to meet each student's specific needs. I understand that no two students are the same and so this is reflected in my tutoring approach. I often set students questions to complete or ask them to verbally explain concepts in order to solidify their understanding in the topic and I believe this has long term benefits.

Personal Description:
I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. Teaching physics is a great privilege and pleasure having taught A Level physics for both OCR and Edexcel boards as well as GCSE and iGCSE physics and chemistry. I am currently in the process of creating an A-level OCR physics course for an Oxfordshire school which is both challenging and hugely rewarding as I know it will be used for the A-level students for years to come.

Here are a few testimonials of previous tuition:

From Martin 5/5: (A-Level Physics) Excellent!

We cannot praise Kevin enough. He has the rare combination of knowing his subject very thoroughly and able to communicate that knowledge in a way that immediately makes sense to the pupil. Plus he is clearly very enthusiastic about the subject and teaching others. Very inspirational.

Time keeping perfect. General manor, friendly and enthusiastic. You just know your child is going to enjoy the lesson and progress.

I have no doubt that our daughter will have improved her exam grades by at least a grade. Also her general interest and enthusiasm for the subject has improved.

Simon: 5/5 Our son is enjoying the sessions very much, Kevin has reinvigorated our son's enthusiasm for Physics and perfectly meets the mix of needs now; subject knowledge, teaching style, enthusiasm and targetted exam technique… brilliant!

Natasha: 5/5 Kevin tutored my son for maths and physics. He made the lessons interesting and fun and really helped him with the revision process. He was always prompt and cheerful. All in all, an inspiring teacher.

Siyu: 5/5 It's very useful for the exam. Thank you so much!.

Teaching Experience:

See below for my roles in different teaching posts in UK state and private schools:

Head of Physics: Plan, create and teach a new programme of study for the new A level OCR physics course. Management of A -Level practical assessment and teach :A-level (OCR course)

Physics Teacher: A-Level physics (Edexcel), iGCSE physics teaching (Edexcel) . Organise and supervise rowing outings, ergo and running training for rowing crews.

Physics Teacher: Responsible for co-ordination of IT over the three science departments. A-Level physics, GCSE physics and GCSE chemistry teaching. Design and upkeep of the physics department web site. Organise and supervise ergo and running training for J14 octuple crews as well train crews on the tide way twice a week (including Saturdays). Elected member of the staff committee negotiating the new salary scale commencing September 2001. NUT school representative.

Head of science: Implement changes post OFSTED inspection. Key Stage 4 co-ordination of the examination
schedule with departments and administration of internal and external examinations. Writing of all internal mock examinations. Implemented changes to KS4 course based on EDEXCEL science syllabus changes. Oversaw science course work moderation based on INSET each year concerning moderation techniques and course work marking. INSET training in the managing of a science department. Responsible for the setting of all year 10 and 11 science groups. Created and hosted IT training courses for science staff. Responsible for implementation of IT themes within the science programme of study from year 7 - 11. Class room and form room management.

First teaching post after P.G.C.E. qualification. Responsible for year 7-11 science groups. Worked with the head of department on GCSE practical work. Created new practical work for assessment. Taught top and bottom GCSE science groups with physics as a specialism. Participated in after school clubs including The America Club ( letter writing to pen pals), and The Music Society ( encouraging pupils to play musical instruments ).

Physics Teacher: During the Easter holidays I taught revision courses in A level physics and instructed candidates on good revision techniques. During the summer I worked for the administration department as a clerical officer as well as overseeing their ' social monitoring ' programme for the foreign language students.

Tutoring Approach:

I would use my experience in teaching to understand the specific problems the tutee has with the subject material and then work with them with appropriate materials and resources to overcome the areas of concern.

My experiences in schools range from organizing trips for science based activities and interests, accompanying pupils skiing as well as the world famous Magdalene College School choir to Europe and coaching rowing in London and Oxford schools for competitive events in London and Henley. I would use my experience with students to help develop a good working relationship.

Personal Description:
As a photography tutor of many years standing, I am currently based on the `Sunrise Coast` of Suffolk near to England`s most easterly town of Lowestoft.

As an experienced photography tutor and former Suffolk Wildlife Trust photographer, I am able to teach many aspects of photography with the emphasis being on creative landscape, seascape & nature photography.

Each of my workshops can be designed to meet each student`s own personal level of ability and preferred subject requirements.

I offer a selection of 1, 2 & 3 full 8-hours per day workshops, 4-hour half-day sessions or hourly tuition to suit each clients needs.

Unlike many other tuition providers, I can also offer a full range of camera equipment to enhance the quality of tuition.

No matter what make or model of camera you use or level of ability, I can quickly teach you how to become a more proficient photographer.

Teaching Experience:

With over 15 years of tutoring experience teaching photography to students of all levels of ability, I have become one of Suffolk`s leading photography tuition providers.

Apart from over 550 individual students, my photographs and photography skills have been widely used by The Daily Mail, Photography for Beginners magazine, Amateur Photography magazine, the BBC, Briar School of English, Royal Entomological Society, the Ford Motor Company, the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Lowestoft U3A, Bungay camera club, Aldeburgh photographic society, the Southend-on-Sea photographic society, the Lowestoft blind and partially sighted bowling club, Chet Valley photography club, Archant Publishing, St Margaret`s church Lowestoft and Carousel calendar publishers.

Tuition is available throughout the year on a 7-days per week basis. I usually offer tuition between the hours of 8.30 - 18.00 hours.

Tutoring Approach:

Levels of Tuition

If you are new to photography or you have a keen passion to learn more about the art of digital photography, I can offer you a suitable level of tuition to suit your needs.

Basic Level Photography

Starting from scratch, I can teach you all need to know about using any make or model of digital camera. From selecting the correct camera settings such as ISO, shutter speed and aperture settings to suit any particular subject, I can teach you all you need to know about using your camera for basic level photography.

Intermediate Level Photography

Going beyond the basic settings on the camera, I can also teach you about composition, lead-in lines, depth-of-field, selective focusing and the use of close-up filters and ring-flash for close-up photography.

Advanced Tuition

Advanced tuition allows students to select a more specific style of tuition. This can include anything from using neutral density filters for motion-blur and zoom-burst photography to using your camera for creative landscape & nature photography with workshops held 'on-location' at a variety of internationally important nature reserves, including RSPB Minsmere.

Image Enhancement & Printing

If required, we can also demonstrate how to use your computer's software to fine-tune and enhance the quality of your images.
