Personal Description:
Hi,
I enjoy teaching and researching. Currently, I am working as a researcher at the university.
My area of expertise includes, Biology, Maths, Chemistry and Pharmacology.
In my quest of higher education currently I am working as a research Scientist in molecular pharmacology, and cell biology. My project is associated with Lister Hospital, Stevenage, UK.

Teaching Experience:

Visiting Lecturer at the university level From last 3 years. Teaching students at the university level theoretically as well as wet lab experiments. I had 6 Nuffield bursary students to teach in the university in last 2 years. All of them are very competent and few of them went to imperial collage, cambridge, oxford and kings for the graduation.

Tutoring Approach:

If a student is not have an interest and intellectual in to the subject, I take it as a challenge. I prefer to correlate the tedious concept of science with the normal day to day life and give a flavor of importance or demand of a particular subject.
Give me an opportunity to introduce myself and I am confident that I will not disappoint you. So far, none of my student left my tuition and stayed with me for longer.

Personal Description:
My name is Chris and I specialise in preparing students for both the 11+ entrance exams and A-level chemistry exams. Until January 2011, I was a Science Teacher at Plymstock School in Plymouth where I had been the Head of Chemistry for 10 years. Previously I had worked at Kelly College Independent School as a Chemistry Teacher and the Head of Lower School Science. Since January 2011, I have been self employed as both a Professional Tutor and also a Professional Drummer! I love both aspects of my self-employment and look forward to helping many more students achieve exam success.

Teaching Experience:

Chris has been teaching and tutoring A-level chemistry since 1994 and as an ex-Head of Chemistry who has worked in both state schools and private schools, he has helped countless students achieve the high grades they often need for university entrance. Many of my ex-students have gone on to vet school, medical school and Ox-bridge.

Chris has also been teaching Key Stage 3 since 1994 and has a good understanding of the level of written work and mathmatical ability expected of the most able Year 7 students when they begin Secondary School. He has helped countless students to achieve their potential throughout Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and earlier in his career he was employed as Head of Lower School Science at Kelly College Independent School in Tavistock, Devon.

Chris has a boy and a girl who have both been through the 11+ process and so is well aware of the stresses and benefits that all families are likely to experience, if they are to apply to a selective school.

Chris has an up to date fully enhanced CRB check and also public liability insurance.
You can also find him on the internet listed with various other agencies.

Grammar school education is really rewarding for able students and I hope to get the
chance to show you what the schools are looking for.

Tutoring Approach:

CHEMISTRY
I use boardworks PowerPoints to aid understanding but try to focus the learning around past paper questions and answers as much as possible.
I have handwritten answers to AQA, OCR-A and OCR-Salters past papers which are scanned in to the computer for projection onto a smart board.
28 is the 1:1 rate but evening sessions are likely to be small tutorials of a maximum of 4 students in the same year following the same course at a cost of 24 per student.
1:1 sessions are available during the day. Day rates are
45 mins 21 individual / 18 joint session
60 mins 28 individual / 24 joint session
90 mins 42 individual / 36 joint session

ELEVEN PLUS
For 11+, I teach collaboratively with my neighbour Becky, also listed on UK Tutors. We jointly teach small groups with class sizes limited to a maximum of ten students. Students in a small group support each other and work together with a shared purpose and confidence.
Weekly 60 minute sessions at 17.50, run from September until the end of February. These are followed by 75 minute sessions at 20 which run from March to the September exams. Payment is monthly in advance, preferably by bank transfer.

Becky is a knowledgeable Primary School teacher with experience across the primary age range. She has a particular interest in enabling children to reach their full potential, using interesting teaching strategies and by recognising various learning styles. She obtained her BEd Honours degree in Primary Teaching as a mature student and not only achieved a first class degree, but completed each of her placements as an 'Outstanding' teacher. Becky has a fully enhanced CRB and is trained in the Safeguarding of Children. She has also ensured that she has kept up to date through continued professional development.
Becky is married with two daughters who have both passed the 11 plus exams.

Personal Description:
I am a motivated, organised and friendly young woman. I love working with children and I am passionate about sport. I want to become a teacher and I am currently working as a classroom assistant at a high school. I am mainly in maths supporting foundation and higher curriculum at key stage 3 and 4 . I received an A at maths at GCSE and understand the curriculum fully. I studied Sport Science with Coaching at Northumbria University. I have had substantial experience in numerous schools and with a range of departments. I am very capable of working one on one with children and also with groups of children.

Teaching Experience:

I have had work placements at Haydon Bridge High School teaching P.E to ages 13-18 for a period of 6 weeks, then assisting various classes for 75 hours over 4 months. I undertook several roles; teacher, clasroom assistant, organiser of fixtures and one on one tutor. I also returned to Haydon Bridge High school as a volunteer, assisting in P.E lessons.
I am currently emplyed as a classroom assistant at Queen Elizabeth High school. My main role is to work with one or two children with Special Educational Needs within the classroom supporting their learning. I may also have to work with a whole class, supporting all the children. It is vital for my role that I understand and can teach the curriculum, as I may have to work outside the classroom with the child and will need to tutor them in that subject area. The majority of the students I am currently working with have made progress since I have been put with them and other students are asking to be placed with me or for me to put on revision sessions for them.

Tutoring Approach:

Every child is unique. They each have their own way of learning and have different abilities in a variety of areas. This can not always be addressed within a school environment, as it can be difficult to differentiate the topic which is being taught to a large number of pupils. I understand that each child will work at a different rate therefore my rate and style of teaching will alter to suit the student. I believe that tutoring is about guiding a child to find their own way towards an answer and not making them follow your way as they may not understand the process which you have followed. I can also comprehend the amount of work which students are having to complete weekly, thus I would not supply them with a large workload alongside their normal studies.

Personal Description:
I graduated with a Masters from the National Film and Television School and an English degree from York University.
I have worked as a writer and a tutor for the past five years now and continue to love helping people gain the confidence needed to fulfil their full potential. I firmly believe that when it comes to exams, success lies in getting back to the original text. If students are able to enjoy the literature and the process, then we will be able to find out the answers that achieve the highest grades.

Teaching Experience:

My experience with tutoring has varied from one to one sessions, to small classes to assisting with written work online.

I specialise in getting students ready for dreaded exams, preparing them with the forensic knowledge of a text that is required to really succeed. This begins long before the revision process, with homework help and extra work. If you 'learn as you go', things will be much easier later on! I really care for the students I have worked with in the past and believe that everyone has it in them to achieve what they desire with regards to their education.

Equally my work in creative writing provides me with an innovative approach to English for younger students, allowing a more stimulating method of teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

As a private tutor I believe it is my responsibility to cater to the specific needs of the pupil.

With the right guidance, supplementary education provides the tools (and qualifications) so that both children and adults may better their prospects, knowledge and cultural appreciation.

Before beginning tuition, I always suggest an introductory session so we can talk over your specific needs and can adapt my teaching style as required.

Personal Description:
I have a passion for Science and hope to go into laboratory research. I recently finished my Masters by Research in Biological Sciences at the University of Manchester, graduating with Distinction.
In June 2015 I finished my BSc in Biology from Imperial College London with First Class Honours. . My A level grades were A* A A in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics (respectively). I am committed and enthusiastic in everything I do and I love new experiences and challenges.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for over 5 years and have had over a dozen students, ranging from 4-28 years of age.

In addition to my professional tutoring:
-In the lab I teach new practical techniques and knowledge to students and my peers
-I am training to become an assistant instructor in Women's Self Defence with the charity that I do martial arts with
-I have a younger sister whom I have helped with academia since she was a child, improving her knowledge and confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring is something that I thoroughly enjoy. It makes me feel like I have made a difference when I am able to help someone better understand and apply something that, up until then, teachers or peers have failed to do.
A large part of my role as a tutor, particularly with younger students, is to improve their self-confidence, I give them additional knowledge, confidence to apply and convey it and confidence to ask questions.

I believe that the path to exam success involves three things:
-Thorough knowledge of subject material
-Exam technique (what to write/say to get the marks)
-On-the-day performance

I feel that my job as a tutor is to assess these points in my students and to help them with whatever stage they require to boost their performance.

YOUNGER STUDENTS: when tutoring children I find that it is important to continuously change the activity or topic every 5-10 minutes so that the student is engaged and gets the most out of the lessons. I have learned many of the techniques for tutoring children during my training and experience as a Young Scout Leader.
In my lessons I play games based on the material and use tools such as white boards, the feedback I receive is that my students really enjoy and look forward to our lessons.

SECONDARY LEVEL & OLDER STUDENTS: I feel it is important for my students to understand how the topic they are learning fits into the wider picture. Often I find that the reason my students struggled with some subject areas is that they were not taught the broader concepts or knowledge was assumed, this is particularly common with Chemistry. I aim to fill this gap so that students learn and understand the syllabus learning points as opposed to just memorizing them.
With Maths I go through many practice questions with my students. I set a question and we will work on it together or independently, then I will give the answer and show my working. My students find it very helpful that I work alongside them and provide them with a full solution including method, as opposed to just an answer.

I am currently available and welcome enquiries from individuals seeking to extend their learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in working with each individual and if relevant their parents or guardians.
I aim to tailor an individual porgramme to the needs of each person.
What interests me is finding out what your child needs and how you want me to support him/her then working steadily towards an agreed outcome.
Establishing good communication between your child and me is of paramount importance to success.
I look forward to meeting you.

Personal Description:
I am a 23 year old Corporate Law student studying a Masters degree in the University of Leeds. I am half Greek half irish giving me the benefit of knowing Greek and English fluently. I grew up in Greece and attended a greek school and later graduated with a law Bachelor Degree from the university of huddersfield in west Yorkshire, United kingdom. I have worked in a day care before giving me the experience of helping children and taking care of them. I also enjoy learning and teaching new things.

Teaching Experience:

My experience with teaching is not as extensive as i would like. Nevertheless, i have worked in a day care which had ages from 3 to 10 years old and i was responsible of taking care of the children's needs. My mother is also an English teacher and i have learned many tricks and tips to teach children in an effective manner.

Tutoring Approach:

My personal approach to tutoring regarding Greek would be to let the child/adult know that i do not speak english very well (although i am fluent at it), therefore obliging the child/adult to try his/her best to speak in Greek in order to explain things. Lessons will be fun and homework will be given based on the child's/adult's available time and goals. As for Law tutoring will be based on conversation, cases and debates which will challenge both the student and tutor.
