Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable musician, songwriter and singer. I have been involved in music for many years in solo, group and large ensemble capacties. Among many music courses I have attended, my training includes a Diploma in Popular Music Performance at the highly commended Tech Music School in London, and a Fist Class Honours degree in Music Technology with Popular Music Performance.
I have been fully CRB checked to work with children.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching since 2001, mainly primary and secondary aged students. This was primarily performance based tutoring at weekend classes including some one to one sessions. I have done this in both Norfolk and London. I have also taught many one to one singing lessons with all ages between 6 and 65.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to tailor my tutoring to each individual students needs rather than using set lesson plans. My teaching style is based around enjoying the learning experience. I like to engage with my students on a personal level to the extent where the learning is a bi-product of the session without it feeling like hard work. I have found this to be a very popular technique that keeps students interested in the subject and looking forward to the next class.

Personal Description:
I work with my students to increase their confidence and help them improve their communication skills, in speaking and writing.

I have an English Degree from Bristol University, and I speak fluent French. I have a Trinity TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification.

I have worked as a writer, journalist and editor in this country and abroad, for magazines, newspapers and the BBC World Service.
I have worked for the UN and the EU, as well as many private clients and international aid agencies.

I came to tutoring in Africa, where it was clear that my services and experience could be very useful to students at all levels: I have taught one to one and in small groups, privately and most recently for a comprehensive school in Surrey.

I have also edited an MA thesis in History of Art for the Courtauld and some theses for Sotheby's History of Art students (we normally do very well!).

I have an Assessor's and Verifier's Award for CITY and Guilds NVQ courses. I am also teaching English and other subjects in Prisons in London, Kent and Sussex.

I am a mother of two boys, both now at university. My husband works in conservation which is why the family has travelled extensively. We are now back in England for the foreseeable future.

Teaching Experience:

Private students (A level and GCSE) and also teach GCSE English on a 1:1 basis to the lower sets of students at Jubilee International High School in Surrey. They have all raised their grades significantly and are much more confident with their work.
EFL at Guildford College to young Spanish students - Summer 2013.
I speak fluent French; I was a governor at Cranbrook School in Kent, and stood in for a term for the French assistante when she had to go home early. My A level students did well, and two continued their classes with me privately.
Tutor at Make the Grade tuition in Tunbridge Wells and also at summer English revision courses at Tonbridge School.
I devised and delivered a course for women journalists in Sierra Leone and taught creative writing and English at Foura Bay University.
Creative writing privately to groups, and at the University of Kent. I have helped students with presentation and interview skills, their CVs and Drama and Performing Arts GCSE.
Assessed NVQ Level 2 students in Customer Service with a 100% pass record.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand communication at all levels - verbal, written and on the web - and I am passionate about making people understand each other. I care very much about the basics - grammar, punctuation, spelling, and I have devised effective study skills tools which make a real difference.

My sessions are fun and inspiring. I am patient, and approachable, and work hard with my pupils to help them reach their full potential. I cannot do magic, but even the least able have contacted me after their exams to tell me they felt more confident about them. Some even told me they enjoyed them!

Personal Description:
I have a BA (Hons) in Classics from the University of Oxford, followed by an MA in Classics from King's College London, for which I received a Distinction. I started tutoring Classics part-time in September 2013 for Kaleido Tutors (can supply reference), then expanded to freelance work in Spring 2014, when I began tutoring English Language and Literature. Despite my academic credentials in Classics, my love and learning of English literature has remained strong since A-level (Grade A), and I am currently researching for a PhD which will cover both Classical and English literature (likely starting at King's College London, Jan 2015). My academic aspirations do not hamper my commitment to tutoring: not only do I thoroughly enjoy teaching, but it helps to ground and shape my interest in the subjects of Classics and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Latin and Greek for a year (starting immediately after finishing my MA in Classics in Sept 2013), and English Language & Literature since Spring 2014:
- All tutees (freelance/Kaleido Tutors) experienced at least a two grade increase, with most achieving >90% in end of year exams (Summer 2014).
- One Latin tutee went from near-bottom to top of his class to top (97% end of year result).

Tutoring Approach:

The great advantage of one-to-one tutoring over classroom teaching is that I can pay full attention to the uniqueness of the tutee. Everyone is different, and I am able to match my skills to the tutee's needs, iron out any particular foibles, and thus increase the tutee's confidence in the subject. Tuition in both English and Classical subjects centres around the same skill set: attention to detail, effective lesson structure, allowing the tutee the freedom to find the correct answer, as opposed to just lecturing.

My favourite aspect of Classical and English literature is the unparalleled connection between the nuts and bolts of the languages and the grand themes they explore. I believe this relationship is key to the effective tuition of language and literature: I like to find a literary theme my tutee is interested in and tie it to the intricacies of the language - grammar does not have to be learnt in a bubble.

Personal Description:
I am about to enter my first year studying Medicine at the Imperial College London after finishing my A levels at a South London school. I have an excellent academic record with 7 A-stars and 3 As in my IGCSE's. I have also achieve the highest score on IGCSE mathematics.

I gained 7 As at AS level. I received an average of 97.8% across the 5 science subjects (math, further math, biology, chemistry and physics). I have also achieved Gold awards at the British Biology Olympiad , Senior Math Challenge and the International Chemistry Olympiad. I self taught myself Further Math modules during AS year; I learned FP1 and D1 last year and achieve 98% on both modules. I enjoy the challenge of maths so I self taught two more A2 modules namely FP2 and S3 and I got 100% and 93% respectively. My A level results were 4A* and 1A. I gained 600/600 in A level Maths, 97% in A level Further Maths, 96.7% in Chemistry, 96% in Physics and 92.7% in Biology overall.

I am originally from Malaysia and I am fluent in both Chinese and English, and I can tailor the lessons to focus on whatever students want to learn about. I am keen to tutor students on sciences, math and mandarin. My main academic interests are medical statistics and applied biotechnology. In addition, I play two instruments and enjoy playing tennis and travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I began tutoring secondary students English and Maths during my time in China. When I first moved to London, I started tutoring students on GCSE sciences. I volunteer to teach English students Mandarin during my time in school. Having been through the stress of exams, I have also held numerous study groups and sessions in order to aid pupils further. I also received an opportunity to tutor two girls on As level Maths and Chemistry for two months or so before the summer 2015 exams.

During the summer, I successfully received a full time job teaching A level Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Toefl English in a tutorial institution in Zhuhai, China for 3 weeks. It was a challenge for me teaching full time and preparing lessons every day to meet the demand of the students. In the end, it was a rewarding experience for me.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning should be enjoyed, I believe the best way to learn is by finding what you are learning interesting so I will aim to make whatever I teach interesting for the student. My approach is tailored to the needs and preferences of the student. Lessons can include:
- Recapping material covered in class
- Going through homework
- Focussing on difficult concepts
- Past exam questions & exam technique
I am willing to answer any questions they have as long as they send me an-email so that I can reply.

Personal Description:
I am a University graduate with a first class degree in Politics from Northumbria University. I completed a very well-received dissertation on the subject of citizenship in America. I plan on beginning a Master's degree in Political Theory at the University of Manchester in the next academic year.

Teaching Experience:

While taking my A levels I was a prefect, and my duties included helping English students in years seven and eight with their work. My Politics A level was self-taught with two other students. While at University I have served on the committee of the Debating society, where aside from helping students express their ideas, the training also often involved providing concise explanations of current events and related political theories.
I have worked with the veteran's charity Forward Assist, teaching political understanding and general knowledge to veterans to help them in civilian life.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring is tailored according to the student's needs - whether these are to gain a broad understanding of a subject, prepare for a specific assessment in a particular area, or to develop skills applicable to many subject areas.

Personal Description:
I am an MFL teacher and love my job. I am extremely passionate about the three languages that I studied at university and teach; Spanish, French and Italian. I have lived in Spain and Guadeloupe, in the French Caribbean, and have enjoyed long spells in Italy. I find empathising with students easy and have taught primary and secondary school students of all ages and attainment levels, as well as adults. In my spare time I run, cook, read and socialise.

Teaching Experience:

I teach at a grammar school in North Kent. I have a top role in my department and at my previous school, I was 'MFL Specialism Leader', meaning that I organised and carried out primary school outreach, created MFL-related extra-curricular experiences for students at the school and at others in the borough and also, provided MFL teacher training. I have taught in schools and to private students KS3, GCSE, the IGCSE, A Level and the IB with great success. I am au fait with the changes to the MFL GCSE (content and levels) as well as A Level. References are available upon request!

Tutoring Approach:

Whether teaching a whole class or tutoring one-to-one, my approach to teaching and learning is enthusiastic, thorough and varied, as well as professional. I really aim to support students in their learning and how they go about learning, and have been really proud of the results of those that I have worked with. However, I take equal pleasure in seeing a marked increase in the enjoyment of and confidence in language learning by others not working towards exams. I adapt my teaching styles, materials and exercises according to the needs of my students.

Personal Description:
I am enthusiastic, supportive and encouraging teacher. I have a broad and wide love of literature but a special love for Shakespeare and Literature of the Romantic period, especially Mary Shelley and her contemporaries. I am also an enormous fan of modern American
and realist drama and Greek tragedy. I run a theatre company, study a masters and love singing, performing and writing.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for seven years - working as a private tutor for several bespoke companies in London, working abroad in Greece and Spain and in the UK at Stamford and Oakham Schools.

I am endlessly fascinated with the way in which Literature acts as a gateway to understanding life and, in turn, the superb ability of writers to capture and reflect the world they live in through written expression. Of equal importance to me, is the connection of Literature to all other subjects and I believe in introducing students of all ages to different texts and genres; I relish discussion of a single word, alongside considering a text in light of its historical context. I believe I am an energetic and enthusiastic teacher and I take enormous pleasure in helping students to give of their very best. Whilst I am excited by intellectual curiosity and rigorous debate, I love working with less able students and helping them to realise their own potential. A few of my students with severe dyslexia have achieved very highly in their IGCSE and AS examinations, in addition to the most able students gaining their predicted grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in finding opportunities for the students to enjoy the texts they study, in addition to coaching them rigorously in the necessary set of analytical skills they need to write top notch essays or descriptive/narrative pieces. I enjoy assisting students at all stages of their education and have experience in teaching all key stages. In addition to preparing students thoroughly for public examinations, I have been able to help pupils explore a variety of texts and genres and discover the joy of great writing

I enjoy helping students contemplating Higher Education - having helped students look at different courses, selecting modules and advising them on their personal statements; it has been rewarding to try and help students play to their individual strengths. I have delivered several specialist seminars for University applicants and assisted in delivering intensive mock interviews, both at Stamford and Oundle School, assisted with interviews and entrance examination preparation.

Personal Description:
Playing the Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Banjo and Harmonica and creating traditional Fine Art have been and are a major part of my life. Much as I would have very much liked to do, I never had the opportunity to become a Professional Performing Musician or a fully Professional Fine Artist . I have performed in public of course, and held exhibitions, but very rarely on a professional/paid basis. I have been a guitarist for over 45 years and an artist for 23 years

I studied art at the Thanet Schools of Art & the Ravensbourne College of Art and Design (the same College David Bowie went to)
for two and a half years. After that I had a twenty two year absence from art.

A change came in 1992: It was during a period of Long Term Unemployment. Whilst signing on at my local Job Center, I volunteered to go on an "Employment Action Course. In a sense this was a form of working for your benefit and was paid an extra 10 per week on top of Job Seekers Allowance. Hopefully this would have lead to work prospects, ideally in Art or The Arts. I had to report to a work placement provider who asked me what skills I had, to which I said "Art" and was assigned to a local Community Arts Center based in Gillingham Kent and appointed as a publicity designer and resources worker.

Whilst in my publicity artist role I was introduced to the then K.C.C Arts Promotion Officer Jim Shean who took interest in my art work and arranged an exhibition hire space without charge at my local library, the event was covered on Radio Kent's "Scene & Heard" Program. I also contacted the local junior school where my children attended and made a proposition if I could exhibit there. In return the headmaster asked my to come into the School twice a week and teach the children art, this featured in a local press article.

Over the years from 1992 to date I have held numerous small one man exhibitions in the Medway Towns and a little further afield and have manged to sell some (just enough to pay a few bills). In the last year or so I have been a little inactive in my art but hope to resolve that soon.

Teaching Experience:

16 years freelance one to one teaching of Guitar - Mandolin - Banjo - Ukulele - Harmonica and Basic Keyboard
Currently a Children s reading assistant for the Beanstalk Charity Project

Tutoring Approach:

Being a music teacher has at least allowed me to put my love of music to a measure of professional application, perhaps to make up for the lost opportunity and time. Being paid is a motivation, but far more importantly teaching others to play and create music is much more enjoyable, I have often gone overtime on my lessons and never charged extra. Also to be considered is the experience gained over many decades of musical struggling, mistakes, embarrassing moments during performance and how to overcome them that I can impart to my pupils. I also look forward to the pupil making sufficient progress so that I can have the pleasure to "Jam" with them.

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Barry John and I live in Hove, East Sussex. In the past I've lived in Spain, Italy, Denmark as well as Ireland and UK. I have a keen interest in Language and Literature as well as Music.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for over 15 years and have taught students of all levels and ability from A1 to C2 as well as tutoring native speakers in Literature. I have extensive experience in CAE, FCE and IELTS as well as TEOFL exams. I am also well aquaited with KS2-4. My students have enjoyed great success in yheir exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to balance discipline and hard work with encouragement and humour. I have many students whom I taught in person in Italy that I have continued to tutor via skype and I believe this to be some evidence of the success of the goal oriented and focused approach which I take. I also pride myself on devoting time to Pronunciation which is an area which many educators avoid.

Personal Description:
Hello there. I am an experienced Latin tutor and am currently completing my PhD in Classics at the University of Edinburgh (2013-2017). I have an honours degree from University College Dublin (2008-2012) and a Masters in Classics from Trinity College Dublin (2012-2013).

I truly enjoy tutoring and understand that people come to learn Latin for many reasons. My main aim is to support my students throughout their learning and to help them achieve their own unique goals.

I live in Colinton, Edinburgh and am happy to receive tutees at my home or travel within a reasonable distance.

Teaching Experience:

I have much experience teaching Latin. I taught Latin to two undergraduate classes at the University of Edinburgh in 2015-2016. This course covered all of the grammar in Wheelock's Latin as well as unadapted Ovid. I received excellent feedback from my students and was nominated for a student teaching award for my work.

I also have much experience teaching younger students and children. I have taught short Latin courses at various primary schools around the country and I was heavily involved in the founding of the Literacy through Latin programme here in Edinburgh, which aims to introduce Latin to state primary schools. As part of this, I spent a year teaching a class of 10 year olds at Liberton Primary School and this experience has provided me with the skills to teach and enthuse younger students.

I believe that an interest in Latin can be sparked at any age and have had great experiences with casual learners. Most recently, I worked with a tutee in her 50s who had no previous experience of Latin.

I have also received formal tutor training at the University of Edinburgh between 2014-2016.

Tutoring Approach:

Latin truly is the key to languages and I know from my own experience that the skills and tools acquired through Latin make learning other languages a much easier process.

I believe that translation is the best way to learn a language and therefore, I always tailor work to each individual student and adapt my teaching to their specific needs.

I know that language learning can make people very anxious and so I always approach my tutoring with the utmost patience and aim to provide care and support throughout the journey.

To put it simply, I love languages and I love Latin and I aim to impart this enthusiasm to all of my tutees.
