| Personal Description: Hi, my name is Amal and I am a 17 year old A level student. I am currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A level and have also successfully completed my A level German in one year, obtaining a grade A. I am hard working and I like to push myself so that I can exceed my targets. |
Teaching Experience: I don't have any formal tutoring experience as this is my first time as a private tutor. However, I have a younger brother and sister, who are currently in year 8 and year 11 and I help them with their homework. I also tutor them every evening as both of them slightly struggle with maths and english. I am also helping my sister with her GCSE German as she is taking the exam this year but doesn't have a teacher to teach her the language. |
Tutoring Approach: Coming to this country 5 years ago I have been predicted much lower grades at GCSE level than I have obtained. So my view as a tutor is that everyone can exceed their potential so long they put the effort into it. As a tutor I constantly like to encourage and motivate my tutees on improving themselves. I believe that a tutor should always challenge its tutees and set them new milestones which they reach and exceed. |

| Personal Description: I am a recent graduate from the University of Sussex with a BA Joint Hons Degree in History and French. I have a strong passion for history and hope to do a Masters in the future. I have studied French since school and have lived in France on several occasions. I speak and write French fluently. I am a very friendly, approachable and creative person who enjoys meeting people. I enjoy a variety of different sports and moreover play the piano to a high level. I have a good deal of work experience in a variety of jobs that have developed my skills and abilities. I am currently working at the BBC on the Saturday Sports Show. |
Teaching Experience: Although I do not have any formal teaching experience, I do believe that I have the attributes to be a successful tutor. Whilst living in France, I tutored French students studying English. It was an experience that gave me a great deal of satisfaction as I helped my students progress. I am very eager to help more students progress and succeed with their studies. |
Tutoring Approach: Having been fortunate to have had a good education, I have an awareness of different teaching methods. I am aware that a method that works for myself, may not necessarily be appropriate for another student. However, I believe that I would be able to provide a personalised teaching service to each student upon getting to know the student. Furthermore, I believe that learning should not be a chore. There are of course aspects that require hard work, but ideally learning and teaching should be an enjoyable experience. |

Also cater for adults looking to start out casual singing lessons as a hobby. |
Teaching Experience: Previously employed by my vocal teacher as a Drama Assistant for children age 5 - 12 As i am still studying myself, tutoring has only just been seen as a possible extra source of work. As i have completely an NC in Music, i hold basic theory knowledge and through my own vocal lecturer hold valuable knowledge of the voice which i am extremely keen to pass on to others. |
Tutoring Approach: I would begin by discussing with the student what they hope to achieve through the tutoring and take things from there. Can help out with basic music theory where needed. Vocaly - light physical warm ups. - short vocal exercises at beginning of every lesson - explore different genres of music to find where the student really thrives and gains most enjoyment out of singing - after time , notice obvious progression within the student - both myself and the student should be willing to research and find more repetoire to learn regularly Most of all, hope the student enjoys the lesson and finds it rewarding. | Personal Description: I am a very enthusiastic, smart, dynamic and young 37-year old (?!) who is a great believer in second (and third- or fourth) chances for everyone. I love travelling, also photography- combining the two when I can- so I enjoy the busy school holidays; I like local art, specifically that by the Pre-Raphaelites, and take some convincing over the effectiveness of Damien Hirst as an artist! |
Teaching Experience: I am currently employed by Birmingham City Council as a member of their Adult Education team; I have also enjoyed teaching, covering and exam invigilating at two of the city's grammar schools. I have successfully completed OfSTED inspections three occasions running. I have worked as a home-based tutor in the North Solihull area for the last 15 years and am happy to negotiate rates should tutoring be completed at my own home. My CRB Enhanced Declarartion and also my Council ID Card are available should prospective parents and tutees wish to see them. |
Tutoring Approach: I am innovative in my work, thinking on my feet and apply all topics discussed in sessions to the students' current curriculum level: I am trained as a teacher and as such am familiar with both primary, secondary and adult curricula. I believe in helping every student when their teacher hasn't got the time; no question is a silly one and you can ask me anything to do with the subject. I provide all my own materials and only ever expect students to provide their own paper and pens. I am committed to students' positive educational experience and try to stress the relevance of each topic we look at with every learner. |

| Personal Description: I'm originally from Shrewsbury, but studied at Bristol University. As part of my undergraduate course I lived for a year in Florence, studying Renaissance art and culture. I've since undertaken a Graduate Diploma in Law in London, and I have just completed the Bar Vocational Course at City University in London. I now find myself with some free time for tutoring before I commence pupillage in barristers' chambers. |
Teaching Experience: I tutored French at secondary school and have a great deal of enthusiasm for the benefits that tutoring can bring, as well as the positive experience it can be in its own right. I participated in private study groups throughout the period of my university career, and found this exchange of information, which included quasi-teaching at times, very rewarding. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that there should be two outcomes to tutoring, these being: firstly, an increased passion for the subject(s) at hand, achieved by reading around any particular subject area of particular interest to the tutee, and engaging in wide-ranging discussion beyond what may be permitted by time constraints in school or university environment; secondly, setting achievable and meeting achievable goals. For older tutees this may well be a case of increasing awareness of a particular curriculam, and devising means of making best use of it. For younger students, targets may be on a week by week basis. However, I believe that goals should be defined as for example general improvement or commitment to hard work, rather than the attainment a particular grade. |

| Personal Description: I am a reliable hardworking individual working to high standards. I thrive in environments which offer me a challenge and allow me to utilize the many and varied skills that I have acquired over the years. I am cheerful and friendly person. I am punctual and learn very quickly. |
Teaching Experience: As a teacher of English I have gained a broad knowledge of teaching English as a Second Language. I had an opportunity to teach children, pupils, teenagers and even students of IT classes. During those years I managed to get many useful techniques and I also improved my personal and technical skills as far as teaching is concerned Since I have got quite huge experience in teaching English as a foreign language I think I could be extremely proactive and at the same time productive as far as it goes. Delivering English sessions in various contexts is nothing 'new' for me as I have already dealt with students of diverse background, cultures, disabilities or ethnicity. Additionally, being a student of English language teaching course gives me a deeper insight into teaching methodologies, learning styles and using , evaluating or adopting materials (if they are available) or just preparing everything from the scratch as I realize that coursebooks and all the learning facilities are not always available for everyone, especially for kids from poor areas. At the moment I am working on a portfolio of teaching materials hoping to develop useful materials for my specific learning and teaching context. |
Tutoring Approach: Since I have started studying at Leeds Met I try to engage myself with as many different activities/ works as possible. For the good beginning I decided to be a Students Rep for my course and I must admit that being a group representative is a great challenge for me as majority of my class mates are international students who come across many different situations but I do my best and always give them a hand if they need it. Additionally I have also joined Headingley learning Centre and I have become a mentor assisting key Stage 2 & 3 pupils with Literacy, Numeracy and ITC skills. The kids are fantastic and the teachers are extremely helpful and always greet me warmly. Observing their behaviour and helping them with different tasks is truly beneficial for me. Since I have got 5 years of teaching experience in Poland (and one year in UK) I must admit that voluntary experience is crucial for my own cognitive development which will result with huge proficiency in my teaching career in the future. The pupils have just started the second session there and this time I work with slightly younger pupils. I m truly amazed! Kids are adorable and so easy going. They are willing to participate in the classes and ask for any kind of help which they need. Sometimes when I just look at them I say to myself-' I wish I could be a kid again' When I was living in Poland I coordinated a language group for students who had some learning difficulties. These were evening classes and I admit that in spite of long hours at school the students were eager to come for an additional hour to enjoy the classes with me. Surprisingly, I am still in touch with majority of them and from the perspective of time I can say that they motivated me to come and continue my studies here in England. I guess, that was a very good decision. |
