Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 5 years in the primary age range and really enjoy it. I have been privately tutoring for 6 years covering both all literacy areas and maths. I have up-to-date training in the new grammar, spelling and punctuation KS2 SAT's paper. In the area of spelling, I have current experience in the synthetic phonics approach. I have used this from the beginning stages in year 1, and also adapted teaching with the support of practical materials to pupils in KS2.
I can provide references from parents of current pupils.

I am able to support your child through the transition into secondary school, providing practical ideas to get ready and support during the first term to enable them to remain positive about their potential as a learner. I can also help advise on issues arising from difficulties in personal organisation from moving around the school to coping with having the right things in their bag on a daily basis.

I can tutor pupils through secondary education in English and English literature. I can support those who are experiencing dyslexic issues and need some support with homework.

Tutoring Approach:

I treat each child as an individual taking into account both parents and the pupils views and needs. I provide suport to catch up on missed areas of basic skills, which is delaying learning, as well as being able to support targets set by school for the pupils individual progress. Through an initial consultation I seek to find out what the needs are and, with parents and pupil, plan suitable help to reach their goals. I share objectives with parents and pupils and give regular feed back to both to reach those goals. I belive it is important for all to see progress is being made. With parents and pupils permission, I like to make contact with their teacher to work with class teacher in identifing areas of difficulty and planning appropriate support. I find that this approach give the maximum benefit for all concerned.
The greatest difference I make to my pupils is to increase their confidence which in turn enables them to be more willing to take part in whole class sessions at school. Teachers of at least 2 of my pupils have remarked on the difference in attitude of the pupils who I have tutored.

At the academic skills pre-sessional courses at the University of Birmingham in 2012-2016 I gained even deeper experience supporting individual students with writing within very constrained time-limits. I guided all to success at their final assessments. I have had very positive feedback and comments of appreciation.

I have taught in various set-ups - whole class, pair work, group work, or one-to-one sessions. I am deeply interested in each student's individual learning needs and progress and one of my major strengths is differentiation. I sometimes prepare material at 4 levels of differentiation for a single class or small group. I use supportive strategies to boost students' confidence, at the same time challenging learners to achieve beyond their own expectations. I approach intense 1-to-1 sessions with the appropriate dynamics.

I am prepared to go beyond my 'job description' duties to help students with 'special needs'. I am interested in their individual circumstances and take them into account, where appropriate. I prepare resources to address their personal needs and interests. I review their progress and involve them in self-assessment towards autonomy of learning. I am familiar with the 'Assessment for Learning' policy and competent with implementing it widely.

I have worked successfully with students with dyslexia. At secondary school, one of my 'high-ability' dyslexic students scored an 'A' grade at her English GCSE, while another participated in a poetry competition. I have had success teaching students with autism and Asperger's as well.

I invest all of myself in my teaching. I am a highly trusted professional and have an exceptional rapport with my students. I am often quoted as a preferred tutor, who 'has the best way of explaining things' and 'is very patient, friendly and cheerful'. All students of mine - regardless whether at school, college or university - progressed by at least one level (even at short-term courses). A student with a debilitating illness on the BME, predicted to fail the course, not only passed it under my guidance, but achieved grades higher than his required level. In my 15-year teaching career I have never failed a student. I have achieved outstanding results at OFSTED observations. My latest annual lesson observation at BMETC was graded 'OUTSTANDING' and so was my performance at NAVITAS earlier this year. Another observation at BCU was unofficially deemed as 'the best on the course'. I have been invited to share exceptional ideas at training events and have also participated in numerous training activities at schools, colleges and universities. I often opt to peer-observe colleagues, to learn from their teaching styles.

Some more examples from my practice: a class of illiterate Yemeni housewives at BMETC, 2011, achieved a 100% pass at their ESOL exams, while 'advanced' international students at the BME, 2012 achieved some of the highest grades on the course. I have been successful dealing with pupils with behavioural problems at Harborne Hill School. Many reported an increasingly positive attitude to learning. I am a creative teacher and try to interest and enthuse students, so that they enjoy learning and celebrate their achievements.

Tutoring Approach:

First I negotiate the times and modes of tutoring with the parents of my potential pupil and agree on fees.
Then I organise a free initial meeting with the pupil and their parents, where I try to establish raport with the pupil. It is important, especially for children, to 'get a feel' of the new tutor and see if they can feel comfortable with her.
Then I try to access as much information as possible from the parents and the child about their progress at school and their attitude to school. If possible, I wish to see samples of the child's school work, or hear anything teachers have said/written about their progress.
During the first lesson I conduct an informal assessment of the pupil's skills - give them a piece of text to read, or free writing or short composition, or a selection of Maths problems to solve. When I get a clear picture of where my pupil stands with a certain skill, I create a short-term plan of work with them. I normally bring materials with me and do not ask parents to buy additional materials. If the parent wishes me to follow a certain self- help book, I am happy to oblige.
I update parents regularly of their child's progress - I try to do it after every lesson. I normally leave homework, designed to consolidate the material covered in the lesson, or develop their skills further. I wish parents to be involved as much as possible with helping or monitoring the completion of the homework.
I try to show my pupils as much respect as possible and affirm them as individuals. I acknowledge their birthdays, Christmas, or other family celebrations.
The parents can terminate the service at any time, with only one week notice.

I have been teaching English, French and German for 25 years. I studied English at Oxford; worked in Germany, studied in Spain and have my main home in France. Teaching Experience:

As an experienced tutor I do believe that learning isn't hard if there is a good and talented mentor who could best encouraged every learner to acquire new things and become competitive at school.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutorial have been the answer for grade related problems of every students. Most of the time students encounter such problems because of inattentiveness due to confusions that is being created during their daily lessons at school. During my tutoring every detail is scrutinized up to the single one.

As a tutor I love showing my tutees the joy of learning through different activities which they will always find interesting. With my pursuit to help students I have different strategies being used depending upon the age and level of difficulty of the topic to be taught.

I strongly believe that a good tutor knows how to listen to his tutee. I always let my tutees to tell their concerns, and have a personal talk with them. Getting to know each other is the first thing that every tutor should do, this is the best way to help them feel more at ease.

I see to it that my tutees are learning from what I am talking and discussing. This made me a favorite of my previous tutees who are now a tutor to some of their younger friends in their place. I always find the best way to teach them for them to learn the topic in the easiest way possible.

The need to have a good tutor with a heart to its tutee is a must. In my entire experience in tutoring I have learned to established connection to my tutee. As a facilitator of learning it is important to work with students rather than lecturing them. The steps, methods and procedures should be done in a way that all of the details are being understood by the tutee.

A good tutor encourages students to remain active during the period of learning and mentoring. Every tutee would love to be with a tutor who treats him as friend. For me the best way to help the learners is to become their friend and not as somebody who treats them as a student.

Tutoring should be done in a way that is made fun and exciting; no tutee would like to be with a boring tutor. So when I was having my first year of experience in tutoring I always prepare the necessary things in order to make the entire learning process effective.

Aside from being ready for the tutoring sessions, the topics I used to teach them are in line with their discussions. Most of my tutees where having their advance lessons during the tutorial I am giving them, mostly if they are going to join a school competition.

Personal Description:
I'm James, 26, and an MPhil/PhD candidate in English and Humanities at Birkbeck, University of London, with a thesis on the ethics of black radical, avant-guard and experimental poetry from selective poets.

I have a BA & MA in Creative Writing from the University of Greenwich. I received the Stephen Lawrence Poetry Prize and their Communication and Creative Arts Prize for Achievement for obtaining one the highest marks awarded to a creative writing student; and my final MA piece was published, in print, by the Berkeley Poetry Review (University of California, Berkeley) and nominated, by the BPR, for the Pushcart Poetry Prize.

Although my academic background is practice-based, my specialist areas of interest are associated with the philosophical, critical, and theoretical dynamics of the creative writing process, which is to say that the creative isn't subordinate to the reflective, but are mutual, and taken together form the grounds for rich exploration.

Teaching Experience:

I'm currently working in a primary school as an English Literacy Teaching Assistant, with a concentration of developing the reading & writing skills for KS1 and, as of September, KS2 pupils.

In the past, I have also assisted undergraduates, and selective postgraduate, with proofreading, editing, and critically evaluating their poetry.

Tutoring Approach:

My natural approach to tutoring is relaxed and calm, but engaging and stimulating, whereby the dialogue that is established, to contribute to the dissemination knowledge and abstract ideas, can be brought into greater focus. I usually look to help tutees form an aim that can be managed though stages so as to ensure that learning is refined to the best degree of expended effort, is not overwhelming, and, above all, interesting and valuable.

Personal Description:
My name is Kieron, and I am a second year Psychology student. I am achieving first class grades so far, and am holding a number of positions within the University in addition to my studies. These include mentoring, research assistant work, lecturer's teaching assistant, along with student representative work and student engagement officer work.

I believe I can break down topics to easy-to-understand segments, and have experience of working with many different people, of varying levels of proficiency within Psychology.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience of mentoring 1st and 2nd year Psychology students, on a variety of topics such as biological psychology, cognitive psychology, research methods (using spss), and have delivered guest lectures to 1st year students.
I have also assisted in MSc modules in seminars and workshops.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that no topic too complicated when broken down. Even the most complex processes in the brain can be turned into interesting and manageable topics.

As a current mentor at my university, I appreciate the fact that not all students engage with teachers, and so I believe that my approach can bridge that gap. My grades are high and I know what is required to do well in Psychology, and so I can translate that into tailoring my tutoring to only include the things that will result in higher marks and a deeper understanding of core psychological principles.

I am a friendly and enthusiastic coach, and I believe everyone has the ability to achieve their personal best in their chosen subject. One to one tutoring can be an enormous help, because it provides the key to identify and unlock the students potential in a supportive and positive environment.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating with a Diploma in Art & Design from Bourneville Art School, I then studied Philosophy &Theology, lived in Paris and Vienna and spent some time working as an independent artist. Later I went into business and was a successful Operations Manager, Trainer and Coach in a number of sectors.

Recently I have concentrated on my artistic career and currently have over 8,000 followers on social media.
