Personal Description:
I studied architecture then moved into the world of film and commercials as a set designer, training at the BBC and moving into the freelance world working on a variety of projects as a Set Designer and Stylist. My drawing skills have always been central to my varied art and design career .
In film I collaborated with a variety of creatives including directors ,lighting, costume, makeup, special effects designers, which was enriching and inspirational. Then I began to paint for other designers on their projects and my artwork became a larger part of my work.
Now I work mainly from my studio in Wimbledon on commissions (including painting ) for films & interiors, portrait commissions and my own personal projects in between tutoring.Drawing, painting, photoshop, collage, photography and model making are used in many of my projects. I currently have a painting in the BP Award 2016 at The National Portrait Gallery,London, then in Lincoln and finally to The Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh until the end of March 2017.
I continue to be passionate about the visual world, creating and sharing my skills and experience, carefully designing my sessions to respond to the students requirements in an enjoyable and rewarding way.

Teaching Experience:

In recent years I found people came to my studio for advice and inspiration. I was then invited to be a visiting artist at a school in Kingston and began taking workshops for groups of varying age groups and abilities.
I have designed and run workshops for 'Gifted and Talented Children' and have recently been invited to devise workshops for the V&A.Recently I devised and supervised a project for a final year textile design student at Manchester University to work on a project with a working designer .The students I work with at the moment age from 6 years to adults. From Scholarship Applications to students needing help with university projects to professionals requiring assistance with projects.
My City & Guilds course for Delivering Learning enabled me to carefully design the projects to suit the students and their individual requirements.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a great believer in the unique value of creative skills to build confidence and enrich our lives in so many ways.
My sessions are carefully considered and devised to encourage my students to develop their talents and make it an inspirational and enjoyable experience.One-to-one Tutorials are a great opportunity to work on your own skills to enable you to produce that art & design portfolio, better pieces for your GCSE course work or for the practising artist or designer to inspire innovative ideas & concepts, alongside the exploration of materials, process and techniques.

Personal Description:
A professional and experienced tutor, I've studied maths and physics at degree level. I've considerable experience of teaching in colleges, summer schools, within companies and in one-to-one sessions, with students of all ages and abilities. In addition to this, I spent over a decade delivery training to corporate professionals. I now specialise in maths intervention at primary level.

Teaching Experience:

I've worked with students of all ages from 5 to 75 and across a variety of subjects and levels. What I've enjoyed most is seeing the progress all my students have made, but particularly those with learning challenges - whether it's to do with subject knowledge, concentration or behaviour. I've found that infinite patience is often the answer!

Tutoring Approach:

Absolutely key to tutoring is flexibility and adaptability. Everybody is different and learns in different ways. Each session starts out with specific topics and goals in mind, but these can - and often do - change as the session progresses and other priorities come to light. My challenge is to find a way to achieve those goals that will suit the student, taking into account what they already know, and how they best absorb and retain new information.

And finally, although I'm not there to become the student's friend, it's nevertheless essential that I build a rapport with them quickly to foster a supportive yet friendly learning environment. This helps ensures the sessions are as productive as possible.

Teaching Experience:

English and math SAT tutoring; middle school English and math tutoring and science; science tutoring at high school level.

My name is Stevan and I am a Maths tutor based in London. I am currently studying for a masters in Mathematics at Imperial College London, having completed my undergraduate degree at the London School of Economics.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor since 2009 and am comfortable working with all calibres of pupils. I specialise in one-to-one help, tailoring my lessons for each individual student of mine.

Tutoring Approach:

It is completely up to the student's requirement. If help with schoolwork is required, I shall aid them appropriately, making sure they have a thorough understanding of all the concepts they use. On the other hand, I can also teach the syllabus alongside their school - I have a style which allows students to grasp the concepts with more ease than they may be able to at their school. Personal Description:
I am a current Psychology MSc student. I love learning, but I haven't always felt that way. I currently read one book a week, while not so long ago as a student I truly hated reading. I had a tough time with developing relevant skills, procrastination and a very limited mindset while studying for my A Levels. This resulted in many set backs, high stress and low motivation. However, I learned something that has completely transformed my life in every way. I am determined to share this with others, which is why I love working with young people.

While attempting to find a solution to my 'student problems' I developed a fascination with the human brain. I read extensively on the topics of psychology, neuroscience and learning. The knowledge and tools that I have discovered has helped me to overcome many issues that most students face daily. For this reason I have spent the last 5 years mentoring and coaching students of various ages, to empower them and motivate them to enjoy learning as much as I do.

I am interested in politics, mental health, psychology, nutrition, metaphysics and many more.

My hobbies are yoga, meditation and reading. I also volunteer as a Mentor to a young adult.

Teaching Experience:

In my current role as an Academic Learning Coach at a sixth form college I design and teach study skills workshops, lessons and support students one to one. With over 2 years spent researching how the brain learns, I teach using evidence based methods and share all my knowledge about the brain with the students. I have taught over 800 students in the last year and worked with 100s of students one to one.

As a Student Ambassador at the University of Sheffield I have over 2 years of experience teaching study skills workshops.

I have one year of experience tutoring/mentoring GCSE students in a school setting.

I have one year of experience of Mentoring A Level students in Philosophy and Ethics.

I have 2 months of experience teaching English as foreign language.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my work with 100s of students I have developed a holistic approach to identifying and addressing individual needs of every student. I have created an extensive assessment form and a range of reflective activities to get to know the young person, what motivates them and what stops them from achieving their goals.

During an initial assessment I identify the young persons mindset, confidence, study skills, writing skills, thinking skills, stress management skills, organisation skills, exam skills, goal setting skills and personal development skills.

After an assessment we decide on the type and number of sessions. I then work systematically through each area using coaching and mentoring techniques. There will be a small task for a student to complete after each session.

Often it might be beneficial to work together with a parent during certain sessions.

Support that I can offer:

Motivation
Dealing with Procrastination
Managing Stress
Tackling Limiting Beliefs
Revision and Study Skills
Exam Technique
Effective Analysis and Evaluation
Critical Thinking
Note-making
Organisation Tools
Structuring Revision
Improving Concentration and Focus
Academic Writing

Personal Description:
I hold a BSc (Hons) Mathematics, 1st class from the University of Manchester as well as an MA Music, Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music.

I grew up in Watford, studying at Watford Grammar School for Boys. I achieved 4 A Levels grade A including Maths and Further Maths, 1 AS Level grade A, and 11 GCSEs, 9 grade A* and 2 grade A.

I am a mathematics tutor and freelance classical musician (viola), with my work featuring performance with top UK orchestras, chamber music and outreach work as well as a teaching portfolio working with children and adults.

In my spare time, I enjoy astronomy, cycling and playing the euphonium with the Army Reserve Band of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.

Teaching Experience:

I have recently relocated to Liverpool and am looking to build up a tutoring profile here. In previous academic years I have had the following distribution of students:

2015-16: 7 A Level, 5 GCSE
2014-15: 3 A Level, 5 GCSE

All of my students have achieved over and above their expected grades.

In addition, I teach the violin and viola to children and adults, from beginner to diploma level. I should clarify that I don't teach academic music, rather am happy teaching instrumental music to the age groups listed. I am able to combine mathematics tuition and music teaching for individuals who would be interested.

Tutoring Approach:

For those studying A Level and GCSE Mathematics, it is very important to be able to identify areas which require work and bring these to the attention of a tutor; my approach to mathematics tutoring is a student lead approach. I also like to instigate discussions about general study and revision technique which can be transferred to other subjects as well. Given the appropriate contact time with me, students are always prepared for exams well in advance.

I offer an introductory session at no fee. This is for myself, the student and parent(s) to get to know each other, and also to discuss where the student would like help.

My music teaching approach is focused on general musicianship and encouraging the enjoyment of playing. I do work on grades with my students but prefer to allow them to develop to a point that I know they will be able to pass their exams easily. Many students who are taught with too much of a focus on grades give up and stop playing altogether, and this is the reason for my approach.

Personal Description:
Hi,

My name is Omar and I am a first-year University student studying at Queen Mary University of London. I am studying Mathematics and Computer Science and I am on track for a first class. I am 20 years old and have a lot of experience in tuition despite my age. After achieving AAA in Maths, Biology and Chemistry at A level, I am pursuing one of my strongest passions, Mathematics. My plan is to become a software engineer alongside being a part-time tutor. I feel that my USP when it comes to tuition is my age. I am able to connect with the students more as I was in their position not so long ago! I am also more up to date with the current specifications and so the tuition I offer is very direct.

Teaching Experience:

Since I started 6th form I have had many private tutors. These students were mainly found through networking and through asking around my local community. However, I have also found students through tuition recruitment websites.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tuition relies heavily upon exam technique. My goal as a tutor is to get the student the highest grade in the exam, and this is my only priority.
