Personal Description:
A full member of the Tutors Association, I have much tuition, coaching, lecturing and training experience; both one-to-one and in groups.
Holding several relevant academic qualifications (including a degree in Maths & Physics), I am also a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist, and full Corporate Member of the Institute of Physics.
During my career, I have held several senior management positions within several British based companies.
Having a fundamental love of virtually all things mathematical and scientific, I very much enjoy passing on that enthusiasm & knowledge to 'A' Level students, with the aim of enhancing their confidence and skills, & boosting subsequent examination performance.
I hold full and current enhanced DBS accreditation.

Teaching Experience:

I have been offering 'A' Level tuition in Maths & Engineering since 1997
The vast majority of students with whom I have worked have either achieved, or surpassed, their target grades.
During the last academic year (2015/2016)) I was pleased to work regularly (typically weekly) with thirteen 'A' Level Maths students (from Bude, Holsworthy, Launceston, Exeter and Barnstaple), one student studying Electrical Engineering at Cardiff University, and one studying Maths with the Open University.

Tutoring Approach:

Being an active participant in, and supporter of, the whole education process, I have also held a four year LEA Governorship at a school in mid-Devon.
My approach to tutoring is, first of all, to talk openly with any potential student (ideally with parent or guardian present) in order to find out what is required, the problems, issues etc.
I treat all students as adults, and do not patronise or talk down to them, ie I treat each one as a mature individual. My aim is to work closely with each student, in the way that best suits him/her, in order to empower him/her with higher levels of knowledge and ability. The result being that their confidence and skill levels increase to those necessary to achieve the best possible exam grades. I encourage my students to actively participate in the tutoring process; to challenge, and to ask questions and discuss all aspects of the work content.
I coach all my students in exam techniques, with emphasis on layout, showing working, best use of time etc.
Last, but certainly not least, I believe it to be of fundamental importance to work with all my students in complete confidence; before, during and after any tutoring involvement.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable musician, songwriter and singer. I have been involved in music for many years in solo, group and large ensemble capacties. Among many music courses I have attended, my training includes a Diploma in Popular Music Performance at the highly commended Tech Music School in London, and a Fist Class Honours degree in Music Technology with Popular Music Performance.
I have been fully CRB checked to work with children.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching since 2001, mainly primary and secondary aged students. This was primarily performance based tutoring at weekend classes including some one to one sessions. I have done this in both Norfolk and London. I have also taught many one to one singing lessons with all ages between 6 and 65.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to tailor my tutoring to each individual students needs rather than using set lesson plans. My teaching style is based around enjoying the learning experience. I like to engage with my students on a personal level to the extent where the learning is a bi-product of the session without it feeling like hard work. I have found this to be a very popular technique that keeps students interested in the subject and looking forward to the next class.

Personal Description:
If you are looking for assistance, I'm here to help you with convenient one to one, online classes. In addition, I can assess your assignments and help to restructure and sharpen them to maximise your mark! I enjoy helping students to achieve their goals and I appreciate and understand the difficulties they face in their studies. I like to encourage students to discuss any area they find challenging as that is the way to improvement. I have an LLB with 1st Class Honours, an LLM with Merit and have won several prizes for academic achievement. I am therefore very familiar with the methods, skills and approach necessary for success! I can help you plan, structure and improve your in-course assignments and exam technique too.

Teaching Experience:

I am an experiended Lecturer in Law at university and pre-university level, and have taught students of varying academic backgrounds and abilities. I tutor the following LLB subjects: Criminal Law, European Law, Tort, Constitutional Law, Equity and Trusts, and Land Law as well as the AQA and OCR A level Law syllabus. I welcome students studying for CILEX and other qualifications as well. I also tutor students in legal writing skills.

I have lived in South East Asia for many years and am also an experienced teacher of English as a Second language.

Tutoring Approach:

This is what recent students have said about my tutoring approach:

"Laura's kind and reassuring nature made the sessions really enjoyable as I felt confident to ask her anything and not worry about sounding silly"- Jessica - LLB Law - obtained First Class Honours 2014

"You are a phenomenal tutor, and a lovely kind woman! Thank you" Charlie - A1 and A2 AQA Law - obtained A and A* in A1 and A2 law modules 2014.

Your sessions will be tailored to suit you! You decide how and what you wish to learn and I will tailor a program to fulfill those needs. If you need revision assistance and preparation help for upcoming A level Law examinations, I can assist you. I am friendly, patient and very supportive. I conduct tuition by offering you detailed feedback on any assignment or problem questions you prepare, or clarifying any areas or points of Law which you find difficult to grasp. This is time and cost effective for both you and me as there is no traveling involved and we can participate in our sessions from the comfort of our own homes.

Personal Description:
Hi there! My name is Will, and I'm a graduate from the University of Cambridge (Christ's College). I studied Natural Sciences, and graduated with a 2.1 MSci specialising in Physics. I studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-levels, and French at AS.
Maths and Physics can be daunting for many young people, yet I believe that anyone can learn to master these subjects if taught to look at the problems in the right way. All that is required is an underlying interest and an enthusiastic teacher!
I work during the week, but I am free in the evenings as well as all day on the weekends.

I am also open to giving INTERVIEW PRACTICE for anyone thinking of applying to OXBRIDGE or one of the many other institutes that demand an interview. Having been in several interviews myself, I can give advice on how to answer general questions, as well as give example questions from my experiences.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored before in my school; I was part of the Mentoring Society from year 11 onwards, in which I taught younger years (especially those taking their GCSE exams). I have also been a voluntary tutor for The Access Project for the past year, tutoring A-Level Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm a very relaxed person, and so I am open to tutoring in many different ways depending on the personal choice of the tutee. I am willing to explain a particular topic, or go through questions that have been answered before the session. However, I would say that working through past papers is usually the most effective way to practice and also identify the areas in which the tutee is having difficulties. My only request is that I'm told beforehand which area/questions/past paper we should work through, to give me time to prepare!

Personal Description:
I am a qualified English teacher. I am currently working as a tutor within schools, supply teacher and privately teaching English. I have been teaching for over ten years, eight years as a full time teacher and two years as a Tutor/Supply Teacher. I hold a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), a PGCE English and a 2:1 BA (Honours) degree in English. I hold current CRB/police check and I am eligible to work in the UK.

I have demonstrated a flexible approach to cater for individual learning needs and to differentiate the work accordingly, ensuring the personalisation of teaching and learning. I have created resources and effective strategies to support pupils. I have extensive experiences marking GCSE coursework, assessments, GCSE speaking and listening tests, assessments including Controlled Assessment tests. I have organised and participated in workshops to support planning lessons, class activities etc.

In regards to voluntary work, I have spent a lot of time as a voluntary youth support worker at the Saint Patrick's Youth Club Letterkenny between 1984 and 1990. I have organised table tennis competitions and other sporting activities at the club. I created a special youth club magazine and was one of the co-ordinators of an exchange trip with a German youth club in 1986. As a UNICEF volunteer, I have also organised a special charity fundraising event for UNICEF. In 1988, I helped with the visit of the UNICEF Special Ambassador, Miss Audrey Hepburn to a special UNICEF event at the Westbury Hotel.

Over the years I have played a significant role in an intervention strategy of borderline pupils at key stage 3 and 4. I have extensive experience supporting pupils on a One to One basis and in small groups. I have taught mixed ability pupils in years 7, 8 and 9. I have provided appropriate advice to learners and helped many pupils reach their target level grades.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English for over ten years, eight years as a full time English teacher. I have taught very successfully in two schools during this period and have received positive feedback from parents, colleagues and from Ofsted (who rated me as a good teacher). I am passionate about teaching and committed to helping students make real academic progress. I have helped many pupils reach their target level grades. I have excellent subject knowledge and a broad understanding of the curriculum. I have demonstrated a flexible approach to cater for individual learning needs and to differentiate the work accordingly, ensuring the personalisation of teaching and learning. I am supportive and sensitive to the students/tutees needs. I am able to work with tutees with special educational needs as I will differentiate resources accordingly. I generally agree and set targets, which are regularly checked to ensure progress towards the learning outcome. In tutoring, resources are tailored to meet the learner's needs.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring sessions are interactive, fun and stimulating as I believe it is important to help students explore and understand their skills and knowledge base. I encourage pupils to work harder by helping them build their confidence. I support each student in all aspects of learning, including homework support, speaking, listening, reading, writing, practical and functional skills, students undertake assessments to improve both their subject knowledge and examination results.

I try to be creative, but once an idea is understood, I think the key emphasis for the pupil is to practice to re-enforce confidence. I ensure that work is clearly structured and organised to allow the child not feel overwhelmed, but to understand it clearly. I work well with challenging children, with learning disabilities and with those pupils with behavioural problems. I am understanding and patient tutor who encourages all pupils to make a bigger effort.

I love this profession because you never stop learning and it is wonderful to be in this fortunate position to share my passion for this wonderful subject. I believe a tutor has to be flexible to the childs need.
