| Personal Description: Experienced personable General teaching council registered Principal teacher. Currently working in Scotland in a large mixed ability school. I have enhanced police disclosure which is current. |
Teaching Experience: Many years experience on both a one to one and whole class teaching. Particular interests include the use of technology and ICT in education and formative assessment. I have other teaching-related post graduate qualifications as well as my subject and teaching qualifications. |
Tutoring Approach: An approach based on active learning and problem solving to develop a deeper understanding and analytical skills base. Whilst many tutors currently advertising have degree qualifications, I believe that a teaching qualification is important as a tutor needs to be particularly skilled in helping students to understand difficult or problematic areas of a course where subject knowledge alone is not enough to help them bridge the understanding gap. Here, teaching experience is as important as subject knowledge. I am registered and qualified to teach the subjects I also tutor. |

| Personal Description: I am an expert in the delivery of training and education. I derive immense satisfaction from seeing my efforts impact positively upon the outlook and understanding of the students it is my responsibility to teach. I have wide experience of the management and enabling of the education function. However, it is the experience of personal contact with the student and the interaction between student and teacher that I enjoy and value most. I have an honours degree (Upper Second) in Mathematics |
Teaching Experience: I am qualified teacher coming to the end of my NQT (probationary) year. I work at a school graded 'Outstanding' by OFSTED and the Mathematics Department is among the top 4% of departments working in state education according to recent government statistics. |
Tutoring Approach: I have always believed that those involved in teaching should want to enjoy the company of children and young people. Moreover they should want to be inspired by their youthful outlook and their desire to learn. To achieve this requires teachers to do much more than to drill their pupils to attain levels of achievement. It is important that the tutees understand the subject they are learning they need to know why things are the way they are not just how to answer exam questions. Much of the time spent with a tutee would be given over to ensuring that the topic they are currently working on is set in the correct context of what they have done previously what they will be studying next. |

| Personal Description: I am form India and have recently completed my Masters in Software Engineering from the University Of Manchester. Previously I was working full time in my father's business for four years.I had joined the business soon after my graduation which was also in Computer Science. I am a hard working and fast learned with keen interest in understanding problem of other people. I believe teaching is a way of learning and understanding why some people face problems where others are quite comfortable. |
Teaching Experience: I do not have a for formal teaching experience. I have previously tutored my cousins in their academic studies and have helped them whenever they needed it. Besides that I have also given free classes to some of the students in Masters who were facing difficulty in understanding the subject. |
Tutoring Approach: I think that teaching is an art where the teacher has to look at a problem not form his eyes but from the eyes os a student who is facing the problem. He has to then explain the things to the pupil in such a way that it is just enough for to clear the concepts of the student. All students have different level of understanding. While as some can process a lot of information others just need to be told just enough to clear the doubts. A challenge of teaching is understanding the requirements of individual students. |

| Personal Description: I am a recently retired teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience. I have tutored privately for the past 20 years or so, primarily teaching maths at SATS and GCSE levels and chemistry at GCSE and Advanced Level. At any given time I normally have between 4 - 8 students of ages between 10 and 18 years. I am occasionally asked to take on adult students. I like to think that I get on well with my tutees, many of whom come on the recommendation of the parents of those I have previously taught. I strongly believe that one-to-one tuition is the most efficient and effective means of teaching, particularly for those who are less confident. |
Teaching Experience: I taught at an independent school in the West Country for over 30 years where I was at different stages a Housemaster, the Head Of Chemistry and Senior Master. I have been an examiner with the Edexcel Examination Board for the past 15 years. I still work for them as a principal examiner in A-Level Chemistry which involves the setting of examination papers as well as the management of a team of assistant examiners. |
Tutoring Approach: Students should be prepared to be be fully involved in the tutoring process and must want to succeed. In many cases I find that I am coaching those who have lacked the confidence to progress properly in the large classes at school, or for some reason or another have fallen behind academically, perhaps through illness or from returning to the UK from abroad. Having experience of teaching both in a school and in a tutoring context, I know that much better progress can be made when the needs of the individual can be rapidly assessed and dealt with. |

| Personal Description: I am a 3rd year medical student looking to tutor during the summer i have achieved top grades at A level and GCSE and attend one of the top medical schools in the country (Imperial College London). I enjoy helping people and wanted to do something that would be beneficial to others over the summer months. I get along with most people and outside of medicine enjoy playing squash and taking breaks with my girlfriend across Europe. |
Teaching Experience: I am enrolled in a tutoring program at university designed to help children from less fortunate backgrounds enter medical school and was a mentor at my high school where i helped the lower years with there studies. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is to create a rapport with my pupil were there can be a comfortable exchange of ideas and concerns where i can truly assess there level and understanding. Then expanding upon the knowledge already in place and building up their knowledge and hopefully inspiring them to continue beyond our sessions and become interested in science. Small projects can be designed depending on what is required. |

| Personal Description: Although I have not had any formal teaching training, I believe I am a competent maths tutor and am well able to provide one-to-one tutoring. I am a patient, friendly person, easy to get on with and have the ability to work well with people on a one-to-one basis which can be difficult to provide in a classroom setting. I find tutoring a very satisfying experience and thoroughly enjoy helping people to improve their maths and achieve their goals. |
Teaching Experience: I started tutoring maths at the beginning of University for a friend's little brother who then achieved credit level at Standard Grade and went on to study for his maths Higher. I have had numerous students since, ranging from Primary, right through Secondary and University level, and even adults returning to education. I have had at least one student a year since I started university in 2000. In 2007 I became self employed and have had at least 10 students a year since then. I have the most experience with students studying for their Highers and Credit Standard Grade, however I have worked with students at Intermediate 1 and 2, as well as general and foundation levels. |
Tutoring Approach: My general approach to tutoring is to go through the course with the student, picking up on the parts they are finding difficult and then explaining the theory, working on examples (including exam style questions) and ensuring a good knowledge base. To help improve the students basic skills and to pick up on any problems in this area, I try to start every lesson with starter questions, which include things that should have been learned before starting the course. I begin fairly early on to go through past papers as well as helping the student with exam techniques to ensure they are confident with how questions will be phrased and the exam terminology. It is also important to help the student improve their self-confidence as this seems to be one of the biggest barriers for pupils sitting exams. However each student is unique and their personal learning style different, so I am flexible and will adapt my approach to meet the students needs. I am very friendly and find that most students get on well with me which is really improtant in building up trust and allows the student to feel comfortable to ask questions and have a go! |

| Personal Description: I am a young, passionate student currently undertaking a Phd in physics at University College London. Prior to this I completed an MPhys degree at Oxford University attaining First Class Honours. I have a wealth of experience in teaching A-Level and undergraduate students which has given me strong experiences in my progression as a tutor. My hobbies include running, football, reading and music. |
Teaching Experience: I have extensive experience of teaching university physics courses (Oxford University and University College London) at an undergraduate level including electricity and magnetism, waves and optics, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics and mathematical methods. I also have experience in tutoring A Level (Edexcel and OCR boards) and undergraduate physics and maths (Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Mathematical Methods, Quantum Theory) privately from which I have received excellent feedback. I have found these opportunities to be highly stimulating in allowing me to develop a thorough, engaging teaching style. |
Tutoring Approach: I take my responsibilities as a tutor seriously and professionally and combine this with my knowledge and experience of science and mathematics to present the subject to a tutee in a way which is exciting and interesting for them. I try to engage the student by allowing them to build upon their own knowledge and forge connections with material they may have covered in class. I believe in a first principles approach, allowing the student to develop the confidence and proficiency which develops from a deep understanding of the fundamentals. Experience has allowed me to develop a wide range of resources and problems which present the material clearly and have given excellent results from previous tutees. |

| Personal Description: I hold a Jurisprudence (Law) degree from the University of Oxford, and am currently training as a barrister. I am especially interested in Equity, Trusts, Land and Contract law. I am also happy to teach the Torts, Constitutional and Criminal elements of A-level papers. I also tutor Geography at both GCSE and A-level. This is because it is a subject that interests me and, academically, I got full marks on the A-level papers when I sat them myself. I had originally intended only to teach Geography at GCSE level but my students asked me to continue to the full A-level after the excellent results they received with me at GCSE. To this end I can provide references. I hold tutorials in three locations: London, Farnham (Surrey), and Keble College, Oxford. Although, I am happy to travel reasonable distances. |
Teaching Experience: I have been employed as a tutor for upwards of three years now, and have had several students, particularly at GCSE and A-level. I generally teach to the AQA specifications throughout GCSE, AS and A2. That said, I have also taught to OCR and would be happy to do so again in the future. |
Tutoring Approach: I provide a comprehensive set of notes on every topic covered, ideal for revision nearer to the exam. I firmly believe that exam practice is the key to success, hence I am happy to set and mark practice exam questions and I spend a considerable amount of time refining approaches to problem questions, which are arguably the trickiest to answer. |

| Personal Description: I am a 22 year old ex-University Student. I graduated in 2008 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Drama, Physical Theatre and Dance. The degree was mostly theory based covering arts history, technical theatre, performance practice, text analysis and study of key practitioners. Prior to this I studied A Levels in Theatre Studies(Grade A), Performance Studies(Grade A), English Language(Grade A), English Literature(Grade A), Psychology(Grade B) and ICT(Grade B). I am also enrolled to begin my Postgraduate teaching degree in September 2010 to enable me to become a full time Secondary Performing Arts Teacher. I am happy to supply various written and practical work examples that I have done as part of my own education and current practice in order for you to assess my suitability for your tutoring. |
Teaching Experience: I have ran Drama workshop sessions since the age of 19, and I have CRB clearance to work with all ages of Children. I also do part time Stage Management tutoring at my local Sixth Form College, and also part time Stage Management lecturing at a local University. These subject areas allow students to not only learn about theatre arts but also focus on the organisational aspects of creating theatre - thus leading to good communication and study skills which are transferable to other subjects areas. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is quite simply; I like to bring my subject to life. If a student does not explain a theory or principal in one way I will always find another more creative and open way to allow the student to understand. From my acting background I'm quite good at knowing when a student does not understand the subject and my creative background allows me to approach a subject from lots of different angles until the result is found. With regards to study skills I am a naturally organised person, and I know from experience that everyone does not revise in the same way - I have a variety of techniques to teach my students and on a trial and error basis we will always find the most suitable learning approach for the individual. |
