My name is Gur, I'm a theatre and performance maker and a Hebrew tutor residing in London since July 2014.
I was born in Israel in 1986. I grew up in the outskirts of Tel- Aviv and lived in Tel-Aviv most of my adulthood. I attended the prestigious arts school Thelma Yellin followed by the Yoram Lowenstein acting Studio where I graduated in 2009. I completed a Master's degree in Performance at Goldsmiths University of London in 2016. Alongside tutoring I have been presenting my work in different venues around the UK, Royal Vauxhall Tavern Hall, Greenside at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Belgrade theatre in Coventry, and the Camden People's Theatre. Of the latter, "Don't F**k with my Unicorn!", Tim Bano wrote for "The Stage:" Gur's montage piece is a bewildering celebration of those quirks -like a unicorn horn that makes us unique -a skewering of contemporary culture at every level"

Since 2015 I have been teaching Hebrew in London, there are great results and moreover Hebrew tutoring provides me with a connection to my roots. In my productions I put an emphasis on the actor or performer and I am experienced in achieving a result that will satisfy me and my actor.
I am hard working and I believe in contributing to my community. For two years I have been donating my time to teach theatre at a religious kindergarten in Tel-Aviv. in 2015, I have taught acting as a volunteer at the CEN8 Organisation in New Cross.

Tutoring Approach:

This add up to his statement that the performer "lives truthfully under given imaginary circumstances", hence, I highlight the tension between the performance actions and the performer's mode on stage.
Together with the performer I encourage building an inner-monologue combined of images and sub-texts, to enrich and create an extra layer to the performance. This technique helps to build a frame work that allow us to develop an organic flow. The use of sub-text enables us to act truthfully, feel organic in the moment and react only to what is happening on stage.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching my peers while at Princeton University and have continued tutoring since moving back to the UK. Over the past three years I have taught students at various levels and abilities; from higher level GCSE to Further Mahs A-Level, as well as US university entrance exams (SAT and ACT).

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring approach is to teach a full understanding of the material, so that the student is able to engage with material in way that means they can tackle any problem. Often in higher level exams questions will have many topics layered on top of one another, so a deep level of understanding and an ability to apply mathematical methods is required. In my experience the best way to deal with this is for the student to not only know the methods, but also understand why they are being applied. I have also found that this understanding is difficult to grasp from a conventional classroom setting.

After this process I then turn to focus on exam technique specific to the exam board the student is testing through.

Hi! My name is Hannah and I am a graduate of Newcastle University in English Linguistics, French and Japanese. My major interests include travelling, using the languages I already speak and beginning to learn new languages, as well as to discover new countries' cultures and history. I also love learning about the history of language, its roots and links with other languages.

I have lived for 10 months in Kyōto and in Paris, studying Japanese and teaching English to French children; whilst there, I revelled in the discovery of new places, people and lifestyle, which for me make any new experience extraordinary!

Teaching Experience:

I began teaching English to two young French children in Paris shortly after I graduated; my responsibilities included collecting them from school, looking after them at home and engaging them in activities and exercises to improve their English skills. Over the months I spent with them, I saw a distinct progression in their comprehension and their level of spoken English, as well as in their overall behaviour and discipline.

I have several students taking weekly private lessons in Japanese and French; I also teach two Japanese classes per week at a primary school in Durham.

I'm a 32 year old native French speaker, I was born in Saint Etienne, France and lived there for the first 18 years of my life after which I moved to the UK and worked with adults with learning difficulties.
I am married to a native English speaker and we raise our children in a bilingual environment.

I am a language and culture enthusiast and I have been studying Languages for 21 years, with skills from conversational to complete fluency in French, Spanish, English, Italian and Portuguese. I am extremely familiar with the process of language learning and all the obstacles that can be encountered and the amazing benefits one gains as their learning journey progresses.

I am enthusiastic and optimistic as well as reliable and organised.My previous teaching experience has had very positive outcomes. I can give you contact details of previous students when you get in contact with me.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2005, I have been giving home lessons to adults wishing to learn/improve their French for various purposes (moving abroad, professional, personal interest). All gave me positive feedback and confirmed that the tutoring had been very much appropriate to the needs they specified when hiring me.
Also, I teach classes of 7 to 11 years old twice weekly at a local primary school as well as training in a local secondary education school in Alton.

Tutoring Approach:

The sessions will start with a short series of tests to assess your level. Then, if it allows it, most of the tutoring will be in French. If not, we will build up your confidence to be able to switch to all French as soon as possible, although, not until you are comfortable with the idea.
I use French literature (from children's books to classic novels) and grammar books, DVD's to base my work on.
Homework will be given when I find it necessary and my students needs will be often reassessed to ensure maximum efficiency.
I like working in a calm and relaxed atmosphere and feel that it is very important that my students communicate how they feel about the services I am providing, so I can go back or slower if they need.

Personal Description:
I am a dedicated and motivated student who has the passion and enthusiasm of working with children. I am fluent in 3 languages which include English, Hindi and Punjabi. I enjoy travelling and appreciating different cultures and learning new languages. I also enjoy reading in my spare time and in particular enjoyed reading Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman as it touches on current issues such as racism and prejudice. I am caring, compassionate, patient and hard-working which are some of my many qualities that children require in their tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently in my first year at Birmingham City University studying BA (HONS) PRIMARY EDUCATION WITH QTS. I am also currently an activities co-ordinator at Kids Adventure society which is a charity that provides children from disadvantaged backgrounds to take part in different activities such as swimming or going to the cinema, which they never get the opportunity to do so. As an activities co-ordinator, I organise and book fun activities for the children.

I used to work as a supervisor at Kumon where I worked one to one with children aged 3-11 and supported them and provided guidance in Maths and English. I was also in charge of observing and reporting children's progress in their record books and marking their worksheets. I also worked as a Swimming instructor where I prepared lesson plans and delivered effective swimming lessons in order to meet children's needs and abilities. I also motivated and inspired children to become confident and independent swimmers and provided confidence to children who have a genuine fear of water. I also used to be a young leader at Rainbows, Girl-Guiding where I lead different activities and games for girls aged 5-7 and accompanied the Rainbows on trips such as Pantomimes and camps. Lastly, I volunteered at my local primary school in Year 2 where I got the opportunity to listen to children read but also reading stories to them. I also provided extra support for children with Down Syndrome and Autism.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that it is important as a tutor to get to know my student as an individual and their personality and interests as this shows the student that I am interested in what they have to say which therefore allows them to open to me more and trust me. I am also aware that every child has a different learning style and a preferred method of teaching which is why I as a tutor would adapt my teaching so that I can tailor my lesson to their needs. I will also make sure that my lessons are interactive as well as educational as I am aware children tend to get bored easily and lose their attention if they are not understanding the content.
