Personal Description:
I graduated from Coventry University and speak fluent Mandarin and English.

I studied broadcasting while I was in China and I worked as a presenter part-time for a radio station, as such My Chinese pronunciation is very clear and standard. I also studied some Japanese, which gave me a grasp of learning and developing a new language.

I got first class in the National Standard Chinese Level Qualification which shows I have near perfect pronunciation. Pronunciation is very important in Chinese and thus it is vital that the person who is teaching you has good pronunciation or you will pick up their mistakes too.

Teaching Experience:

When I was in China, I tutored some primary school aged students English to earn extra income. This has given me a base in teaching languages and so I have a good understanding of the differences in the languages such as grammar, word composition, and the etiquette.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very much tailored to the students needs.
For short-time learners, I will focus on basic common expressions, useful tourists sayings and culture differences. For long-time learners I will work on everything from grammar to hand writing to allow the student to communicate naturally in in Chinese.

Personal Description:
I am a very experienced teacher, head of faculty, head of sixth form, examiner and writer. I have recently worked for one of the major examination boards on the new specifications for both G.C.S. E and A-Level.

During my career as a teacher I have taught philosophy and religious studies to Advanced level and English, history, religious studies, geography and citizenship to G.C.S.E. I also specialise in developing study skills and examination techniques in a range of subjects. I have prepared VI form students for university and UCAS application, including Oxbridge, and acted as a mentor to new entrants to the teaching profession.

I am a freelance writer specialising in education, social, religious and moral issues and I also create e-learning resources for an international educational e-learning-platform provider.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience at both G.C.S.E. and Advanced level has been extensive. I am an examiner for two major exam boards and have diverse experience of creating original teaching resources tailored to the needs of pupils.

I have spent most of my career teaching across the ability and age range in 11-18 comprehensive schools although I have also taught in the independent sector.

I am also a part-time on-line tutor for one of the Oxford colleges.

I have also served on several different boards of governors as a foundation, teacher and parent governor.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the key to success for most pupils is to develop their skills and self-confidence to enhance their ability to successfully complete their examination by developing study skills and examination techniques.

My first session with a tutee and their parents is to establish their needs and goals. Together we draw up a plan of the work which we will pursue. This plan will be reviewed regularly and a progress report compiled.

Each of the subsequent sessions comprises of:
review of any homework set
review of any problems which have occurred that week
lesson on a topic previously decided upon
My primary aim is to help my tutees overcome any difficulties which they are having with their work and to help them to achieve their goals both in the short-term and the long term. Secondly, I aim to give my tutees confidence in their own abilities and to help them develop their skills necessary to succeed in their examinations.
Relevant homework is set as a means of reinforcing the development of skills since assessment and feedback procedures largely rely on this.

Personal Description:
I am a 28 year old Masters student taking a career break from advertising to study full time in an area I am passionate about - International Development, at SOAS in London. I previously graduated from the University of Manchester in 2010, where I studied French and Spanish as a Joint Honours, and received a 2:1 with a Distinction in spoken Spanish. I have lived and worked full time in Paris and Argentina for 1 year as a part of my degree. I also studied Portuguese for 2 years at University and received a High First at Intermediate level. I love languages and take great pleasure in passing on this enthusiasm to others!

Teaching Experience:

-I was a teacher's assistant for the head of the French department at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys in June 2010. I assisted in teaching Years 7 and Upper Six, and all years in between with class sizes ranging from 6 to 32. I attended 12 hours of training on behavioral management, how to engage pupils and effective teaching prior to this placement which prepared me well.
-I informally taught English as a foreign language to French, Spanish and Portuguese adults on a weekly basis for 2 years whilst studying languages at university, as language exchanges.
-I have tutored Spanish and Chemistry GCSE students through this site with positive results, references available on request.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a professional, friendly tutor with great enthusiasm for learning. Can tutor to boost student's level, or help to prepare for exam deadlines. For GCSEs, A-Levels, University exams or personal deadlines, we can work out a learning plan to fit the student's requirements. Usual areas to work on are reading/writing/listening/speaking skills. I have my own material (films, tv clips, music) to supplement the student's own if needed for languages.

I look forward to hearing from you,
Lucy

Personal Description:
As a post-graduate and former scientist, I have been tutoring chemistry for over 9 years now. I am an easy going, down to earth person with a natural flare for teaching. I really enjoy helping people to understand difficult concepts and I've always found science captivating. I am the kind of person who is willing to go above and beyond to help if I am able to. I have experience with young people of all ages, from crèche to holiday clubs, teaching in schools and leading teenagers at summer camps.

Teaching Experience:

I have enjoyed studying science at university level for over 8 years, during which time I was also involved in teaching undergraduate students in labs and tutorials. Since then I've held a post in a pharmaceutical lab developing cancer therapies, as well as teaching chemistry, physics and biology in secondary schools. I studied for a PGDE to become a secondary school chemistry teacher in 2010 (but had to end the course early due to severe morning sickness). As such, I have been able to practice and develop a variety of teaching methods and I'm up to date with the relevant exam board course outcomes and requirements. Over the past 9 years, I have professionally tutored many students, covering Standard Grade, Intermediate 2, National 5, Higher, Revised Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry, Revised Advanced Higher Chemistry, Higher Human Biology and first year University level Biochemistry. About 70% of my students have achieved at least 2 or 3 grade jumps since they started tutorials with me.

I have several positive references and a CRB enhanced disclosure, which will be available to view on request.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly approach to tutoring. I like my students to feel at ease so that they are able to ask me anything. I'm of the mind set that no question is too silly to ask. My tutorials are structured and tailored around the individual student. Depending on the time we have available before an exam/NAB, we will identify key areas that the student experiences difficulty with and work through them addressing Knowledge & Understanding and Problem Solving, both of which are key to achieving the individual's desired grade. I endeavour to cover all topics of the course if we are able to, as I often find that there are areas that a student realises they are not up to scratch on once we start to revise it. I create personalised worksheets for my students and we spend a lot of time going through past papers, as well as developing exam/study technique.

As tutition progresses, I have witnessed a huge increase in the confidence that every one of my students hold in their own ability to problem solve as well as understand their given course work. I have often had comments from students and parents that I make things easy to understand and that the student is actually enjoying their course a lot more since commencing tutoring. I try to make myself available as much as possible to answer queries from tutees by e-mail or text, especially in the run up to class tests or exams.

Here's what one of my previous tutees had to say: "Dale tutored me throughout my higher Chemistry course and I honestly could not have got an A without her! She managed to explain the complex concepts essential to understanding chemistry in a way that I could relate to real life. She was always supportive and motivated me to do well. She was always flexible and able to fit in between my busy schedule. Even now when I have issues with my course work at Medical school I know I could drop her an e-mail with questions and she would be more than happy to help out. Overall Dale is fantastic, if you want a good grade whilst having fun she is your best bet!" - Eilidh.

All of my preparation time (typically 2 hours per session), travel time and travel expenses are included in the hourly rate. I prefer not to travel more than 7 miles from home but will still be happy to consider this.

My name is Lisa, I have a passion for the Martial Arts and love nothing more than teaching others. Tutoring Approach:

I am keen to be able to help others and pass on my knowledge and experience. I will teach you basic techniques to keep you safe & which work. Be aware that some instructors may show you fancy techniques but these aren't realistic in a dangerous situation, the key is to make you feel more confident, more aware and feel able to deal with a situation effectively should one arise. The basic techniques are the ones you can learn and master and which will hopefully keep you safe. It's not about strength but about technique and being knowledgeable in a situation.

Personal Description:
I am a part qualified actuary working for a professional financial services firm in London. I live in Southampton with my family.

I studied Mathematics with Actuarial Studies at University of Southampton and obtained a 1st Class degree. I have gone on to pursue the actuarial professional qualification which I am writing exams for. My passion is teaching which I have done in varying capacities over the years.

Teaching Experience:

I did a placement at a high school which enabled me to gain valuable teaching experience and from that time I have engaged in one-on-one tutoring to help Maths GCSE and A Level students increase their competence in tackling the subject.

From the time I was in high school, Mathematics was my favourite subject and I have endeavoured to learn as much of it as I could, hence my career path. I have always offered a helping hand to others, teaching them what I had learnt in order to increase their understanding of concepts and theories.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to first understand where the student stands in their competency. I also aim to understand the relationship and attitude the student has towards Mathematics. This will help to map out a development program for them going forward so that they are built up in confidence and ability.

Having previously struggled with Mathematics but managed to turn it into one of my strong points, I have the personal experience to empathise with anyone who may find it difficult and I can offer a solution that will help upskill any student.

Personal Description:
I am 30 years old and recently moved to Leicester city, UK.
I am reliable and kind with great sence of organization and attention to detail.
Diligence and consistency was always important to me so I require the same from others.
I have a Proficiency certification on English language from Michigan University and a diploma on Applied Foreign Languages on Commerce and Administration from Epirus Technological and Educational Institute.
Moreover I have been taught commercial and administrative terms on English language, plus specific grammar and vocabulary issues on Greek language on Epirus Technological and Educational Institute.
To sum up, I have a good level on teaching fields I chose on the previous part, certified by Univeristy studies.
Finally I would like to mention that Greek is my mother tongue and have studied it for about 13 years and speak since I was born.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience on English language is one year private lessons (2014) on A2 level student.
About Greek language I have not any professional experience but as it is my mother tongue I am able to teach it through my studies and personal experience.
About History and IT teaching I have the appropriate knowledge through my certified studies and personal awarness.

Tutoring Approach:

My way of approaching to Tutoring is first of all the continuous information and reffered teaching stuff.
I believe that studying is not just an obligation for the student. Tutor has to be prepared and informed even for the most less significant detail.

About the student, I strongly believe that patience and reward can create miracles!
Even if the student is difficult, the Tutor has to find the appropriate way to approach him/her and give the right reason for interest.
