I am an Italian engineer who lives in London. I am currently working as an actor which is my passion but I want to make proper use of my solid background in engineering and my experience as a student in many different institutions around Europe by giving private tutorials to students. I am a very determined and ambitious person and I believe that many things can be achieved with strong will and the right tactics. As you can see from my CV which follows, I successfully studied in Iceland, Norway and England. I studied and worked with people from all over the world and with the most different cultural backgrounds. I myself am very interested and respectful of cultural differences and I am an expert traveller: I travelled extensively through Europe, Africa, India and Japan. Teaching Experience:

- Since I`ve been in London I have taught Italian to an English couple who have travelled to Italy many times, are really fond of the culture but have never got down to learning the language. I`ve also taught a Japanese woman who lives in the City and has working relationships with Italy. References available on request.

Moreover, I have tutored a 17 year old student form East Dulwich to prepare for and successfully pass his A-Level Maths exams. Reference available on request.

- In 2008 I worked as a teaching assistant in a kindergarten in Reykjavk for 8 months. This kindergarten had a special program of integration between kids with special needs (especially hearing impaired ones) and kids with no special requirements, which showed to be very successful. Besides assisting the teachers in taking care of the children daily, I was responsible of having a short weekly session to introduce children to English as a foreign language through playing and singing, which turned out to be very appreciated and great fun.

Teaching is, without any doubt, one of the most important jobs ever. This might sound a cliche but it is what I really think. With almost 30 years spent as a student to gain two university degrees, I have encountered teachers form all over the world and experienced the most different teaching methods. A teacher can make the difference in a persons life, in a good or in a bad way. A good teacher can be a source of inspiration and can make you love a subject that you would have never imagined you could like otherwise. When teaching the student's benefit is the prime goal, this means that the teacher has to be able to understand what the student needs to access a specific subject, understand it, retain the information and be able to reuse it proactively whenever it is required of him. Since, as a private tutor, I work one on one with a student, I aim at creating a healthy and effective relation where the student feels comfortable to express what he/she doesn't understand and he/she can develop a positive attitude towards learning the subject under examination. Every student is unique, therefore the method used for each student is different. I plan to have a first session where I can assess what it is required of me and whether I am able to constructively interact with the student and then build a teaching program from that. I will commit to plan every session at home and come prepared to teach what is needed and I will expect that the student commits to doing his/her best to do his/her reading and homework.

I received my degree from the University of Birmingham (BSc Environmental Science) in 2013 achieving a 2.1 classification. In 2014-15 I studied MSc Surveying and Land Environmental Management at the University of Exeter (Penryn campus).

I am well organised, efficient and take a friendly approach to tutoring - as well as being hard-working and easy to get along with, I am reliable and prefer my lessons to be enjoyable as well as informative. My passion for cooking, combined with another passion of mine; travel, has enabled me to spend considerable time in numerous countries giving me first hand knowledge of different languages/cultures and business environments. Teaching Experience:

I have previous tutoring experience with both young people (under 18) and international students since 2011. I have been able to help my past two tutees from UKtutors to A's in Geography GCSE and A Level respectively.
I also completed a 4 week internship in a New Zealand grammar school in the summer of August/September 2012, allowing me to gain classroom experience as well as helping out more recently in a primary school in Finland, teaching English.

I went to school in Athens, at the St. Catherine's British Embassy School, receiving 44 out of 45 marks in my International Baccalaureate exams with 7/7 in all the subjects I now tutor.

Ensured tasks were varied for each lesson in order to engage the students and keep lessons interesting, upbeat and refreshing. Created a friendly, stress-free environment, focusing on trust and having some fun while learning.
Maintained open communication with the parents so that they were kept up to date with their children's progress.
All tutees boosted their marks in the subject areas taught. One student improved her mark in IB Higher Level History and English A1 from a predicted level 5 to a level 7. Another of the tutees boosted his mark in IB Standard Level Biology from a predicted level 4 to a level 6 and in Standard Level Geography from a predicted level 5 to 6. My other tutee received all A*s in his History, English and Biology A-levels.
Received great feedback from my coordinator about parents being pleased with their children's renewed interest in the subjects they were being tutored.

Tutoring with Team Up (previously the Young Educational Learning Programme - YELP) Nov-Spring 2011 - 5 tutees
Taught GCSE-level History and English Language and Literature.
Provided a straightforward, interesting study technique, particularly for English literature and poem/prose analysis, which seemed to be the most challenging area.
The aim of the programme was to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds, achieving mostly Cs or Ds but also Bs, to reach their full academic potential. I provided plenty of mentoring and focused on fostering a positive attitude towards learning and further education.
Helped students boost their final marks. One student jumped from a B to an A* in English Language and Literature, two from C to an A in History, and one from a D to a C in English.
Received very positive feedback from organisers of the programme, both for the improved results attained, but also for the friendly and fun environment created while teaching.

Tutoring IGCSE - 2008/2009 - 4 tutees
As part of the International Baccalaureate Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) programme, I tutored IGCSE English Language and Literature, History, Drama, Geography and Biology while in my last two years of school.
I mostly covered problem areas, focusing on past paper practice tasks during the hour-long lessons.
The results were positive, with all students achieving Bs and above in the tutored subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that what makes me a good tutor is the understanding that teaching is not just about laying down the facts. It is a process of developing a relationship of trust and engaging the student so that he or she genuinely enjoys learning about the subject. I find that once a student enjoys learning, it is much easier to encourage him or her to absorb the material, performing better in exams. I always try to establish this enthusiasm by varying my techniques, understanding my student's academic needs and keeping the atmosphere friendly yet focused. Every student is capable of boosting his or her marks with the right guidance and with practice. The right guidance involves looking at each student as an individual with specific academic requirements and needs and so I never use a sweeping approach to teaching, rather assessing each student's needs on a case by case basis.

I am a Spanish native speaker from the south of Spain and have been living in the UK for eight years now. I studied for a degree in Translation and Interpretation and for a couple of postgraduate masters, one relating to education.
I have always been interested in learning languages and the culture of the countries where they are spoken. Therefore you will have the chance to learn about Spanish daily habits, gastronomy, hobbies and important events that happen around the year.
It is key for me to know why you want to learn the language and which Spanish speaking country you are visiting, as the contents and language of the lessons will be oriented to these requirements. Your learning style and preferences are important to me as well. Some learners prefer to base their lessons around conversations only and others are happy to have a few grammar based lessons, then conversation, then enjoying reading a book passage or a poem. My extensive library of resources will always have something that interests you.

10 years teaching experience in the UK. This includes over 4 year secondary school work (first as a language assistant, then as a qualified MFL teacher).
Set up as self-employed in 2011 as a freelance adult educator and translator in the Spanish and French languages. During this time I have delivered adult education for local education authorities as well as private courses, primary school education and one-to-one tuition. As part of my Professional Development Plan I completed a Teacher Training Course at the Instituto Cervantes in Leeds, a key reference institution for Spanish teachers around the world.

Personal Description:
I grew up in south-west London, in Twickenham, before attending Tiffin School (Kingston-Upon-Thames) and Cambridge University, where I was awarded my BA (Hons) degree in History of Art. I have always engaged with extracurricular activities with enthusiasm, something which my educational institutions have given me ample opportunity to do.

My main passion has been acting. It has provided many opportunities to meet and get to know a huge range of different people, all in a challenging, intense environment. Fundamentally, it is the opportunity to engage with the perspective of another person and to attempt to embody this in actions and speech. It requires a performer to listen to and work with others on stage, and to work within a flexible, productive relationship - this is essential for any student-teacher relationship, as a dialogue begins to emerge.

My other interests have similarly complemented my academic pursuits: I have played rugby union for 14 years, up to and including university level, and used to play the french horn in the school orchestra. Both activities gave me an opportunity to voice my individual contribution to the group whilst working within a team, invaluable experience for academic discussion as well as confidence in many other areas of life. They offer different approaches to problem solving and develop some of the broader skills essential for academic success, such as self-expression, articulation, flexibility and confidence.

Teaching Experience:

My experience includes working with primary school students (age 4-6), through a voluntary program at secondary school. This involved helping children to learn to read. The weekly session required empathy and flexibility on my part, demanding an understanding that each child`s ability was completely unique, and that my approach needed to be modified to fit each person. In particular, I had to cultivate patience and a desire to listen and to understand everything the child was saying.

Whilst at university I also participated in a student run mentoring scheme, which gave unprivileged children the opportunity to understand life and work at Cambridge. It was a fascinating opportunity to understand some of the social and personal blocks to academic confidence, as well as offering ways in which these problems might be developed and overcome. Most importantly, it was a joyful experience to be able to help a younger person, and to understand that they were a unique person with their own approach to problems and solutions. By listening to him, I gradually learnt the ways in which they best communicated and how I could use those situations to our advantage as a student-teacher pair.

More recently, I have participated in a student-run university theatre tour which also comprised educational workshops. These workshops were a much bigger part of the tour than we had originally thought, and proved to be challenging at times. This was partly from the language barrier (many classes spoke little to no English, and were often too embarrassed to speak at all), but also from the unpredictable nature of the students. We had to work on our feet, employing what resources we had in a way which was meaningful, cumulative and ultimately led to an end. Our exercises required an overall structure and an ultimate purpose, but we also wanted to adjust this according to their reactions. Though I initially found this challenging, towards the end of the tour I could take charge of workshops and lead them with ease.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching and intellectual discussion have always been an important part of my family life, and it is an activity which I enjoy on a personal as well as professional level. My time at university has developed my ability to think in this way, as well as providing an environment in which I was surrounded by these kinds of discussion, with both professors and students. The emphasis on close-contact supervision periods at Cambridge taught me the importance of helping each student understand their individual form of expression.

I would avoid didactic repetition and seek to challenge the student and invite them to contribute. As well as work done outside the tutoring time period, I would encourage tasks such as presentations and prepared discussions as much as possible. I believe this work lays an essential base for passionate intellectual discussion, and it is something which certainly helped me in my university interview.

Coupled with this development of interest in particular subject areas, I would try to help the student's method of arguing and offer sustained, constructive advice on how that might be more effective. A university candidate is only as successful as their ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, something which may require exercises as different as confidence building or syntax and grammar. But as well as this self-belief and self expression, the student would need to acknowledge that academic (and educational) progress can be achieved by listening to others and attempting to understand their point of view. This dialogic aspect is essential to my tutoring approach.

I'm a highly motivated and passionate editor with over five years' experience in copywriting, editorial and publishing. I recently trained to become an English Language Teacher and gained the Cambridge English Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA).

Teaching Experience:

I completed 120 hours of a full-time teacher training course leading to the Cambridge English Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) from 5-30th September 2016. The course was of an extremely practical nature and included six hours of supervised and assessed teaching practice on groups of adult foreign students. The course also included work on teaching methodology and techniques, and phonology.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach is personable, supportive and encouraging. Before the tutoring sessions begin, I will carry out an initial consultation, which will enable me to gage the student's level (e.g. elementary, intermediate), as well as their reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities. It's also important that I understand the student's motivations for learning English.

During the tutoring sessions, we'll cover the basics of English grammar (depending on level) and practise the grammar and vocabulary using real-life activities, such as, writing an email; listening to conversations; speaking and reading authentic materials (e.g.magazine articles, emails...)

I'll use a number of effective teaching techniques for practising and checking language, and work hard to make my clarification of meaning effective. I believe in student-centred lessons and respond to students' needs, correcting errors appropriately.

Personal Description:
I just finished a Master of Arts degree at the University of St Andrews. In my Pre-honurs years I studied a combination of History and Philosophy, while my honours years focused primarily upon English Literature.

Due to my feverent interest in American literature, the topic of my dissertation was the `Paradigm of Adultery in the American novel`, this work focused upon the work of Hawthorne, Fitzgerald and John Updike.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked well with students with Attention difficulties and learning disorders as I myself was diagnosed as a child with both dyslexia and dyspraxia. The tips and tricks I learnt seem to help others.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to teaching is to teach the student to think for themselves, guiding rather than steering.
I also try to get the student to engage with the text to make it interesting for them. To ask what they think and feel about a given work; essentially establishing a conversational format that is condusive to independant thought and analysis.
