I am thoroughly interested in contemporary issues within sociology and philosophy, particularly in education. Alongside tutoring I work with various youth charities developing education programmes to create a holistic and tailor made schemes to enrich health and personal development.

In my spare time I enjoy longboarding (like surfing on land)

Teaching Experience:

After tutoring and mentoring throughout my degree, I am now fully established as a calm, and successful tutor in London. I have had much experience with a range of ages, mentoring children as young as 11 through to those at University ages.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring varies with each student I take on. I consistently succeed in being flexible to my student, and yet maintaining a down to earth and informative style. I like to incorporate a variety of different methods to make my lessons fun, exciting, challenging and productive.

Personal Description:
I am a native Italian girl living in the UK with my English husband and our two daughters. I come from central Italy, near Rimini on the Adriatic coast.
My husband and I are specialized in the translation of scripts for film and television and in making adjustments to the dialogue.
Teaching is a pure passion for me and it is also a way to help others to understand the culture of my country.
I try as much as possible to create a customized program for the needs and levels of my students. For the pronunciation I gladly offer myself to record the readings that interest them most so that they can exercise hearing PERFECT pronunciation and accent.
As you may know in Italy there are many accents and dialects from city to city.
Having studied theatre and dubbing and worked in the world of dubbing of films and cartoons for a many years I am able to speak perfect Italian without any accent or dialect (as you would hear on television).

Teaching Experience:

I have experience in teaching Italian to English speakers from when I was living in Italy taking private lessons for adults and children.
I also taught Italian in an English nursery in Italy.

Tutoring Approach:

Together with the program, for children and young people we also learn while having fun through games, videos and songs.
One of the best ways to learn a language is by conversing in the language with a native speaker so for me one of the most important things is talking.

Personal Description:
I am a 23 year old graduate from the University of Nottingham. I spent the last year working as an English Language teacher, working in Spain and Guatemala to practice my Spanish. I am now starting a masters at the London School of Economics in International Relations. In the future I hope to work for an international relations think tank or as a diplomat.

Teaching Experience:

I have a Trinity Cert Tesol - Teaching English as a Foreign Language qualification and 1 year of teaching experience in Spain, Guatemala and London. I have also been a history tutor for the past year in my spare time.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always enjoyed learning because my teachers, for the most part, made it fun so I'm keen to do the same with my students. I don't think anything that's worth studying has to be boring and I'm dedicated to making my students learn almost without realising they are doing it.

Personal Description:
I am on my final year of undergraduate study, reading Mathematics, at UCL. Where am I from? Originally from Taiwan but have been studying in the UK for over 5 years . What kind of person am I like? a bit shy but friendly and really easy going type.

Teaching Experience:

I have had three teaching experiences so far, one in Chinese(Mandarin) and two in A-level Mathematics.
One of my maths student obtains a stunning double A* in both GCE A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics and the other one, whose GCSE Maths is a D, gets a fairly respectable B in GCE A-level Mathematics. My Chinese student didn't take any examination as her main purpose was to be able to backpacking China and Taiwan. She successfully completed her dream last summer and her feedback to me was that she found my teaching really dead-on her needs during the travel. Due to the large number of Economics students (both LSE and UCL) that I am currently having, I am especially familiar with teaching first year mathematical methods for Economists.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that people learn the best when they are motivated. For that purpose, I constantly taking my students' feedback and their changes in life into account and adjust the teaching immediately so as to make them want to learn. And then I teach them precisely what they are required to know in a most succinct language so that every bit of their brain power is used in the place where it is most needed.

Personal Description:
I'm an extremely strong mathematician, scoring top grades through school (including scoring 300/300 in my AS Level Further Maths), and went on to a heavily maths-based degree in Civil Engineering with Management. I'm a GCSE Maths Examiner, so I know exactly what is required to get your target grade.

Aside from teaching Maths, I've had a wide range of experiences - I've helped set up an community project in my friend's village in Tanzania and have taught some of our sponsored students out there. I also work as an actor, and am filling the gaps with supply teaching and private tutoring.

I've recently moved to Watford in summer 2014, so I have lots of gaps to fill with tutoring sessions.

Teaching Experience:

* Teaching and working with young people as a volunteer or professionally since 2004.

* Qualified as a Maths teacher in 2006, and taught in numerous secondary schools, ranging from very challenging schools through to a high performing grammar school.

* Have taught the full ability range from low ability Year 7 through to A Level Further Maths.

* GCSE Maths Examiner since March 2012.

* Tutoring 9-18 year olds since April 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm keen to help pupils understand how maths works, and not simply learn a standard set of instructions to follow to reach the "right" answer.

With the new changes coming to Maths GCSE, having a good understanding is more important than ever - students simply cannot get by on rote-learning the method alone any more. Students need to be able to explain their answer clearly, and I make sure I incorporate this into my lessons.

Of course, approach will vary substantially depending on the student.

Students who are very close to their exams will need more focus on how to get the best result.

With younger students there will be more opportunity to focus on their understanding, and exploring how Maths works. I try to avoid simply teaching "How To Get The Right Answer To This Particular Type Of Exam Question", which might get them through tests in the short term, but is rather less helpful to them in the long term.

As a tutor I'd be choosing the most appropriate approach for the student.

Although I specialise in Maths, I am more than comfortable with science, and can also help students up to secondary school level in this subject. I will also do English with Maths at primary level.

GROUP DISCOUNTS:
* £5 discount per student if working in a pair.
* £10 discount per student in groups of 3 or more.

NOTE: Mostly I'd prefer to tutor from home. I'm on public transport so if you're near good transport links I can also travel to you.

Personal Description:
I am a native Spanish speaker who has been living in Derby for the last two years. I studied Social Science and I am a qualified Spanish Teacher. I studied a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching Spanish as a Second or Other Language, "DEELE".

I am friendly, talkative and am passionate about languages and cultures. I get a real thrill from sharing my knowledge and helping my students learn and grow in confidence.

Teaching Experience:

I have over two years of experience of tutoring Spanish privately to both groups and individuals over a range of ages. I am happy to teach Spanish to complete beginners right through to advanced level students.

I have also worked voluntarily in local Schools and a Nursery and have a full CRB check.

Tutoring Approach:

First, I start by getting to know the student's learning style, needs and objectives. I then build an individual learning plan together with the student with agreed time-scales and measures. I think it is very important to involve the student in all aspects of the learning process.

I understand that every student has different needs and I readily adapt my style to best suit the needs of each pupil. I like to use a variety of teaching methods including (but not limited to): role play, listening to / watching authentic materials and games as well as using textbooks and more traditional exercises.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Sibylle and I am a native German beginning to study International Business and Modern Languages up to Masters Level at the University of Strathclyde. I am very enthusiastic about learning languages as I believe that they do not only help people to understand each other better but also provide the learner with a deeper understanding of the culture. I am a hardworking student and love to put effort into my work. I gained an Abitur with an overall mark of 1.1 (equivalent to 40.5 IB points/ A*A*A), while also doing language certificates for my studied Languages English (CAE - Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English & TOEFL) and French (DELF B1 and B2).
I knew very early that I wanted to study in Scotland as the country itself fascinates me as well as its friendly and welcoming inhabitants. I would love to help a student who wants to acquire a good level of spoken and written German as well as getting more self-confident.

My personal hobbies involve reading, current affairs as well as going out and meeting new people.

Teaching Experience:

During my time at school I continuously taught pupils who needed help with either English, German or French. I have been teaching younger students for 6 years now and all of my tutees gained better marks and seemed to fully reach their potential.
I was often recommended by my teachers as I was often successful with my tutees and they reported to enjoy learning with me.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a strong knowledge of Grammar is essential for the use of a language. Especially German can be very difficult if failing to recognize the famous "Fälle" (cases) as well as the different verb forms. I like to work in an informal environment to build up a very friendly and familiar atmosphere with a tutee that makes him/her feel at ease with me and encourages him to come up with own ideas.
Being proficient does not only involve understanding a language but also being able to speak the language, as well as being able to write a coherent text on your own and being capable of organising thoughts in the foreign language. This is what I aim to reach with a potential tutee.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate with an undergraduate law degree and a clinical masters of law specialising in criminal justice. Both these degrees were obtained in Ireland, where the law shares the same common law basis and many of the same principles (this owing to the fact that England and Ireland were ruled by the same law until 1937). I have completed my Masters Thesis entitled: "Aiding and Abetting: Assisted Suicide and the Criminal Law. An examination of the current law with a view to reform." In order to ensure that there are no gaps in my knowledge I have completed a Graduate Diploma in Law in London. I received a Distinction grade in my LPC and am now working in a solicitor's firm in Mayfair.

I offer tutoring in a wide range of legal subjects from legal writing/analysis and help with moot court presentations to specific subjects including by not limited to Criminal Law, Evidence Law, Medical Law, Equity, Jurisprudence, Law of Torts, Land Law, Law of the European Union, Contract Law, Terrorism, International Criminal Law, War Law, Criminology.

Teaching Experience:

I have provided both one to one tutoring and group sessions of tutoring in the past with great success. My masters now enables me to provide more in depth knowledge of the law to my students.

I offer tutoring in a wide range of legal subjects from legal writing/analysis and help with moot court presentations to specific subjects such as Criminal Law, Evidence Law, Medical Law, Equity, Jurisprudence, Law of Torts, Land Law, Law of the European Union, Contract Law, Terrorism, International Criminal Law, War Law, Criminology.

Tutoring Approach:

Prior to each tutoring session I will ascertain which topics the student is having most difficulty with in order to tailor sessions to suit each students needs. This ensures that I am not covering topics which the student has already understood and assimilated.

Comprehensive notes will then be drawn up to suit the tailor made session along with suggested readings which can be used by the student in exams to provide evidence of independent study and further research. During the session the topic will be explained in full - moving at a pace that the student is comfortable with. Each session will end with advice on how the topic could be examined. Notes will be provided to students in hard copy so that the session is not based on note taking but on understanding and assimilating the topic.

Personal Description:
I am a caring and enthusiastic Italian born teacher with many years experience in the private language sector. I have always been passionate about teaching, during my university years I started giving extra lessons to schools students and as soon as I graduated I completed a CILTA course to teach Italian to speakers of other languages.

Teaching Experience:

After I graduated in Spanish and English Literature and Linguistics in 2003 I began teaching Italian at International House in Milan. I gained a wide range of teaching experience ranging from young learners to adults and from large groups of university students to one-to-one lessons with managing directors.
To keep my lessons fresh and my students interested I would always create my own teaching materials, that way I could always ensure that they were specifically tailored to the students' needs.

Tutoring Approach:

One of the skills I learned from teaching at International House was to quickly understand students' needs and then construct my lessons around the individual. One-to-one teaching and tutoring focuses on the relationship between the teacher and the student, I am a friendly outgoing person and foster a very warm atmosphere in my classes which encourages relaxation and facilitates learning.
As a language teacher I always use the communicative method which is completely focused on the student and the idea that the most important aspect of learning a language is to speak that language right from the start.

Personal Description:
I am an American who grew up in a small town in Illinois and went on to get a BA in Fine Art. I moved to England a few years ago and love taking my two dogs out on walks in the country side. I love making art, cooking, and hanging out at home. My artwork is primarily based in painting, and printmaking. I also like to work with mixed media and bookmaking. I have recently started to do a bit more photography that I am enjoying and combining with my other work.

Teaching Experience:

I have done private tutoring in the States as well as being a visiting artist at public schools.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is that everyone no matter where they want to take their art work needs to have a foundation of basic skills so that they can go on and make their work in what ever medium they choose. Art is such an exciting subject because it is truly only limited to our imagination and drive. You can do anything you want with art so that also makes it more challenging. My goal with my students is to provide encouragement, technical support, together with some art theory, and practical advise to create a comfortable and inspirational environment to learn and create.

Personal Description:
I am 29 years old and have been teaching A level and GCSE English and history at sixth form college for seven years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding pass rates and innovative teaching methods, my English department has been awarded a grade 1 'Outstanding' for the past 4 years. I have a passion for English and history, and take great pride in providing an excellent education to all of my students, seeing it as crucial to success in their later careers.

Teaching Experience:

I have a broad range of experience turning around failing classes, as well as challenging high achieving students. In my teaching career thus far I have taught a wide age range from 9-18 years, and specialise in teaching troubled students and those lacking confidence, as well as pushing very bright pupils. Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates have received a 25% upwards leap in two years, so that the vast majority of my classes are now passing with high academic grades and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. With these excellent results I have now been made an advanced teaching practitioner, tasked with passing on my skills to other teachers and helping drive up standards

Tutoring Approach:

Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them and this has shown to bring both personal and academic growth, which is always pleasing to see. Moreover, in strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students, to provide them with the skills they need to excel in later life, I seek to provide them with only the finest education possible.
