Personal Description:
Hello, my dear friend,

Please choose me as your tutor, according to my skills, teaching, research profile and human qualities. I am flexible to travel, free of charge, in Liverpool and Merseyside, but also for a small fee, to Wirral, Cheshire, greater Manchester, Lancashire and to other North West England, North Wales and Midlands England destinations. I have a multidisciplinary background, from literature and foreign languages to philosophy, religious studies and communication. I graduated my Ph.D. at University of Paris, Sorbonne, recognized and considered by NARIC comparable to British Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) standard. I have also obtained a post-doctoral fellowship at University of Edinburgh (The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities) and taught and studied in India and Romania, both at university and at high school levels. I have a Certificate in Spanish obtained from Instituto Cervantes. At present, I work in a French research project at University of Liverpool, School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies, Department of Modern Languages (French). I taught French at high school level. I have studied German since I was 6 years old, in a German school. I have often travelled to Italy, Spain, France and Germany, having learned these foreign languages both from books and from lived experience in these countries. I own the Certificate for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK and a CRB. I have an extensive teaching experience in the UK as an MFL supply teacher (French, Spanish and German) and as a cover supervisor in other subjects in the area of Humanities in colleges and high schools from Liverpool, Merseyside, Lancashire, Wirral, Cheshire and greater Manchester. Personal Description:
I am married with three grown up children, several chickens and a dog.
I am a regular churchgoer, a supporter of Newcastle United (I know...) and a friendly and outgoing person.
I drive my fully restored Morris Minor whenever I can, leaving the modern car for my wife and daughter. Apart from that I am quite normal!

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced teacher of RE at secondary level, being Head of RE and SMSC at a local non selective school. As such I am well used to teaching and supporting students of all abilities and with all kinds of needs and baggage.
In addition to teaching I mark GCSE papers for the AQA exam board which gives me a significant insight into examination requirements and technique. My latest school results were an almost 25% A* to A pass rate from a non selective cohort of over 200 students.
Before entering the teaching profession I spent 20 years in Christian youth ministry, which does not colour my tutoring, but does give me a uniquely thorough knowledge of Christianity in particular.

Tutoring Approach:

I am relaxed and friendly, able to get alongside even the most reluctant of students and persuade them to learn.
I believe enjoyment and relevance are the key attractions to students, qualities often perceived to be lacking in the subject. I like to be topical and humorous, whilst also being organised and firm in my approach.

Personal Description:
I am a 21 year old econometrician in the media industry. I am from the Caribbean and very easy going. I believe that anyone can be taught anything with the right assistance and guidance. I am also an avid volleyballer playing for a London club.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience in successfully assisting my former classmates and current colleagues in passing their examinations and achieving excellent grades. I see tutoring as a method of expanding my teaching experience to help others obtain their goals

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to ask the student what they know about the subject area and ask them where they need to go. These questions allow me to have a grasp of how far the student has been progressing and where and what needs to be done to reach the level required. I will channel their focus in the direction they would need to be. If necessary I will go back to the fundamentals of the subject area and build on the basic principles to increase productivity and growth in the particular area of study

Personal Description:
I am a trustworthy and highly motivational person and I bring these qualities to tutoring. I have completed my first year studying BSc Economics at the University of Birmingham gaining an overall 2:1 grade with a 1:1 in the Mathematical module of the exam. At A-Levels I studied Mathematics, Economics and Biology to A2 and Chemistry to AS at Loughborough Grammar School.

Teaching Experience:

I was a Corporal in the CCF Army at school where I was in charge of 10 cadets to whom I taught basic training. This included not only fieldwork where I taught First Aid but also class work in the form of the history of the Army. I have helped 11 year olds from the surrounding Loughborough area in Mathematics and Biology 'masterclasses' held by my school for gifted students. I volunteered at my old primary school during an extended holiday where I helped students from 5 years old to 11 years old.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe every student is unique and therefore the approach I take will vary. Some children may require more of a guiding hand while others will require much more help to bring their confidence up which in turn will allow them to succeed. Mathematics is a beautiful and extremely fun subject and that is what I will bring to my style of tutoring.

Personal Description:
I am 23 years old and have always been passionate about Maths, receiving an A* at GCSE level and an A at A level, as well as a B in Further Maths at AS level. For a long time whilst choosing my degree I considered going into teaching, as something I have always noted and valued in a teacher is their ability to communicate accessibly their subject, and especially in the example of Maths this is something that can really underpin the level of understanding the child has, and subsequently their success in it. With the few teachers that, frustratingly, knew exactly what they were talking about yet conveyed it in an overly complex/wordy fashion, I always found myself thinking 'I'm sure I could explain that better!'. In the end I chose to study Architecture as I wanted to express my creative as well as scientific side, and for that it has been an incredible outlet and endlessly fascinating topic, from which I have learnt so much and pushed myself so hard, and s a result I am very proud to have achieved First Class Honours in my degree.
In my work I am always conscientious, driven and a perfectionist, and outside of it I am personable, polite and easy-going. I love reading, film, photography, drawing, running, yoga and squash. I am currently teaching myself Spanish, as I hope to visit the country one day to work or live temporarily.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring professionally for over 2 years now now, during which time I have been able to gradually build my reputation as a veritable and reliable tutor, through taking on a number of students of various ages and with various needs (including SEN students). I have received extremely positive feedback from the students I have tutored as well as their parents, and have seen proof of my skills through the improvement of my students grades as a result of my tuition, most notably one AS student whose grade went from a U to a high C.
I participated in the Student Associate Scheme in 2010 through my University, which involved a 3 day intensive teacher training course followed by a 3 week placement in a local school, in which I assisted several teachers in a specific subject of my choice (I chose Maths) at GCSE level. As my placement was shortly before the children sat their GCSE Maths exam several of the sessions were designated for revision, during which I tutored children one-on-one as well as in small groups. I received very positive feedback from the teachers at the end of the placement and it was an extremely inspirational period that strongly encouraged me to look into teaching/tutoring as an option for the future.

Tutoring Approach:

My strengths lie in the fact that my approach to topics is always accessible, and I ensure that students have understood what we are working on before moving onto something else. I go through example questions first, then supervise the student while he/she attempts them on their own - always covering the possible variations there could be. I also put extra effort in by making cue cards and reminder notes on what we have covered - this way the student doesn't need to remember everything from the session as long as they have these triggers. With Maths I have learnt that patience is indeed a virtue, and that it is certainly worth spending an extra 20 minutes on one specific topic so that the child can make the leap between being able to answer a question with guidance and fully understanding it for him/herself - I think anyone can learn to be good at it as long as they are taught in the right way; as all it takes is that one 'click' for everything to fall into place and suddenly make sense in their mind.
I pride myself on being a good listener, and I think this is vital especially in a one-on-one situation with a child to gauge their response to your teaching. This helps me to be versatile in my approach to specific children, and having not been out of school too long myself I am very aware of the tricks children use against their teachers!
Also, because I realise I am still young compared to some teachers, I use this to my advantage by making the child feel at ease in my presence - from my experience I have never learnt anything by being made to feel stupid, and I find that it is more beneficial to develop a relationship of understanding, so I ensure that I assert my authority without appearing intimidating.

Personal Description:
I am a 27 year old History graduate and PGCE holder, living in the Morecambe area. I value highly the benefit of one to one tuition, and excel in recognising a child's area of difficulty and formulating strategies to remedy it. I am a enthusiastic connoisseur of history and a competent mathematician, with good patience and sense of humour.

Teaching Experience:

In 2011 I was awarded with the PGCE certificate after a years training. Subsequently i have privately tutored several children, primarily focusing on their year 6 Maths SATS and preparing them for the transition to secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to make tutoring as fun and stimulating as possible, as after a long day at school, the last thing a child wants is to be faced by another worksheet. Application of lessons to everyday life and environment is a special area of focus for me, as i find when children can relate to the subject being taught, they demonstrate a faster rate of understanding and progress.

Throughout my career, I have always taught English Language and Literature, mostly to Secondary age students, covering O and A Levels, GCSE and IGCSE, as well as TOEFL, IELTS and US SATs. I have taught large classes in UK secondary schools, as well as small groups in international schools. My students have frequently succeeded up to and beyond their expectations at all levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one-to-one tutoring helps, above all, to encourage and support a young person, who may be feeling that they are not succeeding in their school studies. I prefer to tutor in the student's home environment as this helps in boosting his or her confidence. I have tutored many students throughout my career, and I would say that my approach is demanding but fair.

Personal Description:
I head from India. I completed my Graduation from St. Xavier's College in Kolkata in Physics. Currently I am doing my Masters in Physics from the University of Sussex. Studying Physics has made my basic concepts in Maths very clear along with Physics.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored before, children from standard 3 to 10 and they have all scored reasonably well in their examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

While teaching, I do not stick only to books. I always try to give practical examples, whenever possible, to make complex situations, laws, rules, equations, formulae etcetera, simpler and easier to understand and memorise. I think that helps children to relate the subjects to their everyday life and hence gets them interested into them.

Personal Description:
Juan is a rare artist with a great deal of intellect and an in depth understanding of piano, composition and music technology. He has been linked to what he describes as a "marvelous instrument: the piano" since the tender age of three. Eight years later, he made his fist concert appearance in his hometown Estancia Santa Marνa de La Armonνa. Ever since, he has been a regular performer throughout the theater halls of Argentina, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.

Teaching Experience:

8 years of one to one tutoring.
I have prepared students for all ABRSM and Trinity College exams including GRADES and DIPLOMAS with 100% success rate.
I also train other teachers entering for Masters at RCM and RAM. I believe in a modern approach to music learning that's why I encourage my students to develop a their own taste for music. I also give my students the option of start making their own videos here in my studio where I have all the necessary equipment.

Tutoring Approach:

Juan believes that people connect to music at different times of their lives. As you watch him work, it is stunning to observe how he can be involved in the details and never lose sight of the big picture. His approach to piano pedagogy is very unique, one which simultaneously combines music technology, playing, reading and writing.

As a piano tutor, his greatest challenge is to instigate a hidden and deep rooted spark within each of his protιgιs. He believes that everyone should learn at their own pace, and accommodates this by providing tailored programmes. He has been very successful in preparing students for the ABRSM and Guildhall Trinity Exams.

Personal Description:
Hello my name is Clare, I am 26 and I am hugely passionate about learning and teaching foreign languages. I studied MBA in French and Spanish at the University of Glasgow graduating with a 2.1. Learning languages have brought me so many fantastic experiences and opportunities and I want to help others have similar opportunities. Language learning brings you confidence, self belief and opens your mind to a whole new way of looking at the world and I hope that my tutoring will aid people with this.

I was lucky to live in Peru for a year teaching primary school children and in Brussels for 3 months studying translation and so I am very confident writing and speaking French and Spanish. I have used my languages working for the United Nations in Germany, volunteering for a charity based in Mexico and working for a research company in Edinburgh.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught various subjects in various capacities over the past 7 years. I have been a clarinet tutor for pupils up to grade 5, taught a class of primary school children in Peru (basic maths, literacy and science) in Spanish and I have tutored French up to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing for me is making sure the learner is relaxed, comfortable and feels able to lead the direction of the sessions. I adapt my approach to each learner's needs, abilities and expectations. I start by setting some goals with the pupil (and their parents if appropriate) and we work towards those specifically. I try to speak in French and Spanish as much as possible - it is amazing how much you can understand without realising it!

I use a variety of listening, reading and speaking exercises to ensure a rounded approach to learning and use contemporary material from newspapers, novels, films, music, tv as appropriate for the learners age and ability.

I am also comfortable helping more advanced learners with history, politics, literature and other modules they may be taking at school or university.
