Personal Description:
I'm a Research Fellow at Cranfield University. I found Chemistry very difficult at High School and have worked hard over the last 13 years studying the science, in the process of gaining my Honours degree and Doctorate, to improve my understanding but I honestly still find it difficult at times. I have a huge amount of enthusiasm for my science and find myself reading Physics, Chemistry and Astronomy in my spare time as well as watching countless lectures and home made videos from other scientists on YouTube.

Teaching Experience:

I have a moderate amount of tutoring experience but I'm confident that this is compensated by my energy and knowledge of my field, I love what I do and revel in helping people understand it with me.

Professionally I have worked with many masters students and tutored them on some more advanced aspects of Chemistry such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy and practical Organic Chemistry. I also lecture on several subjects at my University and have received excellent feedback.

Tutoring Approach:

I usually try to work with images first to help the student picture what we are trying to learn. I find that once a student has a working model or analogy in their head it is much easier to advance and increase their understanding eventually leading to the removal of the analogy.

I find that exercises are useful to build a strong memory of facts and figures associated with the science. I don't believe in learning by rote (although it will pass most exams) if you are interested in a sound understanding of a theory or subject. Any tutoring that I provide will be tailored to the student's particular preference in learning style.

Personal Description:
I am a native Italian speaker, confident, enthusiastic and passionate about teaching. I have attended the TT 4 in Preparing to Teach in Lifelong Sector (PTTLS) and the diploma 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce. I also graduated in Arts (Italian Modern Studies) and completed my MA in Italian Language and Literature in 2008 at Pisa University.
By teaching in different countries, environments and working with people of all ages, I have acquired a board experience, which allows me to identify and address learners' needs and plan in order to get the best outcomes for them. Through the way I teach, I hope to show and motivate the students to learn and understand the history and the culture of my country because learning a foreign language is not just imparting rules of grammar.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experiences include working as key worker in the nursery and teaching Italian language for foreign adults and children in London. In Italy, for two years, I worked for an organisation which specialized in helping migrants (aged 17 to 50) to learn the language and as a personal tutor for a secondary school girl with dyslexia. I have also taught a variety of subjects (including Italian language, literature, history and Maths) to Primary, GCSE and A-level students for about 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my studies and experiences, I acquired a widen knowledge of contemporary teaching methods and approaches which contribute to plan, organise and deliver high standard lessons according to learner's level.
At the beginning, I usually carry out an assessment (oral and written) for ascertaining student's knowledge of the language and learning style. Then, I plan each lesson in advance and according to the student's needs. I always prepare handouts, worksheets or quizzes that help student to memorise the concepts and me to check her/his progress. I like to use different kinds of resources in order to create a more interactive and motivating lesson every time.

Teaching Experience:

I have been volunteering at Young Carers helping with homework and extra tuition for the previous year. I also work privately helping those of all ages and abilities, including adult learners as well as children of a very young age. Over the years I have acquired a lot of tricks and techniques to make arithmetic easier to learn.

Although I claim to help up to an Advanced Higher Maths standard, I have the ability and experience to help those at university struggling with foundation maths courses.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor it is my job to help my students unlock their potential. To show them the real life application of what they are learning and how to apply their new found knowledge.

Personal Description:
I am a 27 year old, fully qualified and highly experienced primary school teacher living in the West End of Glasgow. I am a confident, friendly and reliable individual who pays attention to not only academic but also emotional development, always placing children at the centre of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified primary school teacher, registered with the General Teaching Council Scotland. I hold Enhanced CRB Disclosure. I have worked full-time in both Glasgow and London for 5 years. I have experience in teaching children from all age groups and was Literacy Coordinator for 2 years in my previous post. I currently teach Primary 2 in Easterhouse, Glasgow. Outside of a school setting I have experience in tutoring both music when in my 6th year at secondary school and English when living in Argentina. I have been awarded Grade 5 Music Theory, Grade 8 Piano and Grade 5 Oboe certificates.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that learning should be enjoyable and ensure that my tuition is both personalised and active. I take time to build good working relationships with all my pupils as I think that happy and relaxed learners are successful learners. I am experienced in teaching children with a wide range of barriers to learning which has taught me to be flexible and creative in the way that I teach.

Personal Description:
I would describe myself as easy-going, friendly and caring. I love cooking and food in general, so am working for a nutrition company and charity in London at the moment. I enjoy being active and will try my hand at any sport. I love travelling and meeting new people.

Teaching Experience:

In the past two years I have been tutoring GCSE (year 1) and AS-level AQA Biology. I am now also tutoring GCSE (year 2). I adapt my sessions to the students' areas of concern. I work closely with the specification as this outlines the topics the students are expected to learn and is the guideline for exam questions. I have also worked with primary-school children to increase their reading age in schools around Leeds, which has been very rewarding as you see the children progress.

Tutoring Approach:

I am passionate and enthusiastic about my subjects and love seeing others get passionate about it too. I have experienced poor teaching and know how frustrating it can be, I do my best to approach new concepts from different angles. I feel patience is important on both sides.

Personal Description:
I'm a recent maths graduate from Cambridge, with a real passion for conveying concepts in unique ways. I first starting tutoring when I was in school, and quickly learnt how challenging, yet satisfying it could be, to break ideas down into their most simplest forms. I'm tutoring over the next few months for all school level maths (up to A-level maths and further maths, and even STEP maths) and look forward to working with you!

Teaching Experience:

I've tutored many students both GCSE and A-level Maths (Modules C1-4, FP1-3, M1-3 and S1-2) over the last few years, and really enjoy it! Most of these students went on to achieve A* grades, but I taylor each lesson to suit each individual student.

Tutoring Approach:

It's impossible to explain my approach to tutoring here as it varies hugely for each student - if for example the student is familiar with the topic but wants extra practice, I start with a few questions to ascertain his/her level, and then cement it with further teaching, trying to explain any unfamiliar concepts in several different ways. If a topic is new however, I will try to build it up from previously-seen ideas, to give a motivated approach to the subject and it's uses. My first lesson is always half price, so that you can see whether you like my tutoring style in 1 lesson before continuing.

Personal Description:
I'm an independent consultant, trainer and facilitator, working mainly in the business world. I design and run learning workshops in collaborative decision-making and lean thinking for companies of different sizes. I also facilitate Open Space events, inviting large numbers of people to co-create new ways forward in self-organised events where all the participants are at the centre and not a menu of speakers. These are like 1-or 2-day Hackathons, within organisations, such as Innovation Hackathon, Greenup Hackathon and Reinventing Work Hackathon. I also run similar events on demand within communities, in order to bring out engagement, inviting members of communities to co-create and co-determine aspects of their community.

In the business world I'm a bit of a change maverick, wanting to create a better world, and especially better workplaces where people can thrive and grow, rather the usual drudgery of work. Organisations benefit from that too from become eco-systems that thrive innovatively. I learned my 'participative' 'tools' from many years of experimentation and from working in different parts of the world. I have lived in North America, Europe and in Asia, and have travelled way beyond that.

Teaching Experience:

Most of my early teaching experience started with 13 years' English teaching to mainly corporate clients in Japan. I consider myself a highly experienced, versatile and resourceful former Language Teacher (TEFL), Tutor and Coach with further background as Intercultural Consultant. I have extensive experience teaching English in Asia, with expertise in accelerated learning techniques (e.g. suggestopedia) and Peer-based learning through Self-Organising Learning Environments.

I have taught classes and individuals at various levels and for various purposes. I have also done of business English and specialised English for professionals. While I have more experience working with groups than individuals, even as business coach and corporate trainer I have worked most of my life in an educational learning environment. The most important, however, is not about teaching, but about the student learning; it is hence imperative to start from the perspective of what the learner actually needs and working from there. I pride myself in being able to design courses and tuition tailor-made to the specific needs of the learners.

Tutoring Approach:

Unless I am teaching towards academic aims (e.g. GCSE support), I view language as something that is used to communicate with, it is something one does, we do not normally learn a foreign language just for the sake of passive knowledge. To me therefore it is far more important to use the language than just learn it. My approach to tutoring therefore is quite action oriented, we do things with the language, and just like children (who did not learn their native language from a book) language is always used in a context, so it's important to provide contextual clues when introducing new language.

I emphasize engagement and participation a lot, with a strong focus on real communication (rather than practiced communication where possible). Very early on I introduce meta-language, which is language about language (e.g. could you repeat that?, What do you mean by....?, Why do I say ... and not ...?), because this the only kind of real communication that happens in a language class, and thus it is a real opportunity to use real communication. But above all, language should be fun, learn by doing and lively, and my interactive approach always works towards that
