Personal Description:
I am very patient and tolerant but very effective in imparting right techniques in Maths. I encourage independent thinking and asking questions. I am currently teaching in a Sixth Form college and I have a good experience in teaching AS/A2 Maths, Accounting and Business Studies.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching to sixth form students for quite a long time now and have delivered excellent results. After completing my Master's in International Business, I have been working at Independent Sixth Form college in Birmingham since September 2010 teaching AS/A2 Maths, Accounting and Business Studies. Working in a sixth form college has given me immense confidence to deal with students.

Tutoring Approach:

I put a lot of emphasis on past papers and exam reports as its very important to read Examiner's Mind frame before attempting any paper. I believe that examiners understand the mind of a student through his/her written attempt, not how hard a student has worked or how impressive his subject knowledge is. In order to facilitate this, I have a vast resource of Past papers and Exam reports which prove quite conducive for my tutees.

Personal Description:
My name is Marc and I teach self defence moves/techniques that work under fear induced situations, are natural movements using body mechanics and can been taught in a short space of time. I teach the best tried and tested self defence methods that can be incorporated into existing disciplines or used solely to enable individuals to successful defend themselves.
I was a boxer for 10 years with 2 of them being at a professional level.
As well as being a Self Defence Instructor, I am also a Service Delivery Manager, Parent Governor, recurve Archer, Records/Tournaments officer for Archery club, devoted Husband and Father or 2 beautiful daughters.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Natural Self Defence for 6 years on a one to one basis or in groups of 2 to 20 people. I offer to train people, 1-2-1 or in small groups, in their own homes so traveling to my course is not a problem. I have been a Manager within I.T for 22 years where I have had to teach all levels of personnel (from engineers to senior executives). Training includes technical, managerial, financial, procedural and personal development e.g. confidence building, goal setting, assertiveness and career progression.

Tutoring Approach:

I use handouts to enable people to take notes at particular sections of the training and also encourage open discussions on techniques, moves and legal implications of our actions. Each move is explained in detail and reasons why particular approaches are recommended.
Each week the previous weeks instructions are gone through and discussed in case a question has been thought of between sessions.
I encourage note taking whilst training to ensure the moves are not only phyiscally carried out/remembered but also mentally committed to memory.
I offer to train people, 1-2-1 or in small groups, in their own homes so traveling to my course is not a problem.

Personal Description:
I am married with three children and seven grandchildren. I like to keep fit and attend a local gym regularly. I have been involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme as an instructor and assessor and I am an active member of the Combined Cadet Force (Royal Navy Section).
Needless to say I am CRB checked. The most recent one dated last year. These last for three years.

Teaching Experience:

I have successfully taught mathematics in schools in Nottingham, Surrey, Hampshire and Lancashire over the past twenty years. I took early retirement this summer from teaching but am still an examiner for GCSE higher paper.

During those years, I have had considerable success in helping my students to achieve A*'s in mathematics and statistics and have also been able to give additional help to some students to enable them to improve their grades. In addition to this, I have taught students who were struggling with some aspects of mathematics and been able to give them an alternative approach, thus helping them to a greater understanding of the topics.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to be able to get to know exactly what the tutee's problems are in mathematics and will usually ask to see some of their work in order to get a starting point from which to build. It might be that they are only struggling in one particular area and that's fine, I can help them with that, or they may need some consolidation;bringing all the topics into play in order to solve complex problems more easily and therefore building confidence.
I can supply worksheets or will work from their own textbook if they prefer. I usually set homework for them to work on before the next session.

Personal Description:
I'm a native Italian. I've been living in England for the last 7 years, I love languages and teaching. I studied Finance & Economy with foreign Languages ( English, French and German).
My professional ambition is to contribute to the promotion of Italian culture: teaching my native language is the way that suits me better in reaching this goal! :)
Either if you're planning a holiday to Italy, are simply passionate about the language or need to prepare for an exam, all my knowledge will be at your service! :) I'm also available for translating and interpreting.

Teaching Experience:

I come from a family of teachers! While I was in Italy I taught English to many people on a regular basis. Apart from that I have always taught English to foreign students ( it' around 11 years now! ):this has improved my deep understanding of grammar...so that common mistakes can be avoided.
I also taught Italian for 6 years now, I do translations for newspapers, magazines and books on a daily basis.
I have a broad field of experience in:
-Tourism
-Art & History
-Economy
-Finance
-Medicine

So if you're inspiring to learn or improve your language for your job, you've definitely come to the right place!

Last but not least, I will ensure whatever your level is you will be able to speak and understand the language as never before! I'm aiming to do that in the shortest time possible as your time is very important. :)

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to consider each student as unique and aim to understand their goals and ambitions as well as optimizing my teaching method to suit their individual needs.

I believe that an important part of learning a new language is to understand and embrace the culture as well.

I usually start my program with a short test to check "Your Learning Method" (this test is applied in the most famous and important schools of language all around the world)

Everybody is different! :) there are people who learn with games, others who learn just listening, others who love writing to remember and people who learn visualizing or listening to music.... Whichever your method is, let's learn with fun!

Each Student will benefit from a Personalized learning plan.

Personal Description:
Hello,

I am an open-minded, friendly tutor who is able to see things from different perspectives. I am not long out of university and very much understand what it's like to be a student and the processes and pressures that you need to go through.

I am passionate about my subjects and have studied and loved them all the way from GCSE to Masters level. I take joy in discussing and explaining them to others and have undertaken a wide range of historical and political studies. These include, but are not limited to:

- English history: 1485-1702
- The British Empire
- UK History: 1900-2013
- UK Politics: 1945-2013
- US History: 1776-2013
- US Politics: 1945-2013
- US Foreign Policy
- Germany: 1900-1945
- (Italian) Renaissance Wars 1494-1559
- General European History
- Middle Eastern History and Politics: 1900-2013
- Russian History and Politics: 1801-2013
- Chinese History: 1900-2013
- The First World War
- The Second World War
- The Cold War
- Intelligence networks
- EU History and Politics
- The current euro zone crisis (I wrote my Masters dissertation partly on this)
- Political Science concepts
- Political Philosophy

I have done a fair amount of travelling and have had some incredible experiences. I am a big fan of European languages and speak some Italian, German and French (as well as a bit of Russian).

Teaching Experience:

I have a considerable amount of experience tutoring both history & politics privately. I am comfortable teaching in person or across Skype.

I also have teaching experience in other areas such as music and sport. I attended Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) during my gap year to attain a music diploma and have taught guitar ever since. Additionally, I have taken a course to become a Level 1 tennis coach and as a result have worked alongside local tennis coaches to provide drills and technique improvement sessions.

Tutoring Approach:

As someone who has achieved high As in History at GCSE and A-level (A*s were not possible at A-level at this time), a 2:1 with numerous firsts at undergraduate and a merit average during my masters degree, I am fully aware of the means to achieve high grades. I am very friendly and understand that different students have different ambitions. I start any private tutoring with a conversation about what the student wishes to gain from the lessons. I am always careful to make sure the student is given help to the level they require so they can excel at their current qualification.

In the case of exams, my approach is largely syllabus and exam-technique focused. I will make sure the student does gain a comprehensive, confident understanding of the subject matter, but will want to pass on an in-depth knowledge of what the examiner is looking for. This approach is designed so that the student can best maximise their grades. I am able to help with providing a structured and planned approach if the student so desires.

However I am not a tick-box tutor who is not able to see the bigger picture. I am aware that a proper understanding of the subject is not only vital for overall development but also to achieve the necessary level of confidence a student needs to succeed. I only stress the importance of the syllabus and exam-technique because exams are (largely) grade-outcome orientated.

I look forward to tutoring you if you so wish! All the Best, Richard

Personal Description:
Nice to meet you! I'm Rebecca; I'm 27 years old and graduated from Bangor University with a BSc in Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology. After university I spent a year as a specialist support worker for adults with autism and autistic traits. With my psychology degree and experience I am more than happy to cater for students that might need a bit of extra help, and have experience teaching students with Aspergers, Personality Disorder, and depression.

Following uni, I spent nearly 2 years teaching English as a foreign language in Japan. Whilst in Japan, I also learnt how to speak conversational Japanese, and can also read and write hiragana, katakana, and first-grade level kanji. I now tutor English and Japanese full time, and have registered my own language services company.

To better understand what is needed for GCSE Japanese, I took my GCSE in 2016 achieving an A*, and plan to take N4 in the Japanese Proficiency test next year. I am happy to help students work towards their GCSE or N5 level Japanese, and I am constantly training to improve my students learning experience.

I welcome any students with special needs; I have vast experience in the Psychological field and work well with anyone who needs that little bit of extra help and attention! I also work great with kids who need help boosting their English and Maths at school- in the last year one of my 5-year-old student's grades have gone from below average to excellent in their school report.

I'm currently teaching in the Northamptonshire area, and have a classroom set up in my home where I do most of my teaching from.

Please note: I am currently fully booked every evening, so I can only offer morning/ early afternoon lessons at the moment.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience includes the 2 years I spent teaching English as a foreign language in Japan, where I designed the yearly teaching schedules, lesson plans, and then taught the lessons. My students were from the age of 3 to 65, so I have experience in teaching all ages. Whilst in Japan I also taught beginner's Japanese to foreigners living in my local area.

Since returning to England in 2013 I've been tutoring English and Japanese full time. I took my GCSE Japanese in 2016 achieving an A*, and plan to take N4 of the Japanese proficiency test next year. I have also been teaching one of my younger students English, Math, and other related subjects required for primary school. I currently have more than 20 students learning Japanese 1-to-1 and relish the challenges and individuality between each new student.

At university I volunteered for several groups including an activity group for disadvantaged children, assisting in secondary school classrooms, volunteering at the local mental health unit and volunteering as a charity shop assistant.

Prior to this, I often tutored my younger sister (who has Asperger's Syndrome) and helped her to understand her school work. I have also clocked up countless hours of babysitting for parents around the local area.

Tutoring Approach:

For teaching English as a foreign language, or when teaching Japanese, I believe a fun, active approach is the most effective. A short amount of time is spent drilling sentences and words; but then these new words and phrases should be used in role plays, games, or challenges to make the new vocabulary stick.

When teaching English, debates about the subject material cause important points to be remembered, help students to structure their arguments more clearly, and let students consider what the most important points are and consider counter arguments. Games for younger children and a variety of different activities to help enforce new vocabulary and sentences are also important.

Personal Description:
- I am a fifth year student studying Medicine in London. I have completed 4 years clinical training and basic sciences, and I am currently undertaking an intercalated BSc before my final year. I have a passion for Biology and German, and I try to use both in my every day life as a medical student!

- My A levels were in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and German.
- I received all my secondary education at Dr Challoner's High school for girls in Little Chalfont.
- I am friendly, open and approachable, and as a young female, many students (particularly school age girls) find the lessons with me comfortable and fun.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for 3 years, and really enjoy teaching. I teach younger years at medical school, as well as school students, especially in German and Biology. I like to focus on areas that the student finds hard, and work in a way that they understand and enjoy - for me, learning is all about having fun and loving your subject, which comes with a bit of effort over a period of time. I think that every student can learn to enjoy their subjects, and I hope I can be the one to inspire them.

Tutoring Approach:

I individualise my approach to tutoring taking into account the student's learning needs and objectives. I really enjoy teaching and I hope to help students achieve their potential.

I usually obtain practise questions and notes before the lesson to ensure the tutoring time is spent as productively as possible, depending on what topic the student suggests in the previous lessons.

I have slots available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - daytime and evening. Please contact me if you would like to organise a suitable time and place. Thank you.

Personal Description:
A resident of Edinburgh for the past twelve years I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things myself. I am fairly well travelled, enjoy the arts and have a passion for working alongside others to help them achieve their goals.

I am a professional actor with degree level qualifications in both Philosophy (Dundee University) and Acting (Queen Margaret University College).

Teaching Experience:

I have worked with adults in improving spoken and written English for UK degree entry level. I have also worked with college and university students in the Middle East (UAE) to train science and drama education in both Arabic and English.

For several years I have visited schools in both the public and private sectors delivering reading, drama and science communication classes.

I have regularly taught 5-15 years drama in private classes and enjoy working with pre-drama school entrants of all ages in working on giving the best entrance audition possible.

Tutoring Approach:

I am confident at creating a structured approach that works with a pupil's own strengths and needs to provide a tailor-made package for learning.

Ideally I meet with each student to discuss their learning needs, current level and expected outcomes.

Although it is important to push the boundaries of learning, it should always be a workload that is both manageable and individually tailored.

People learn best when they are enjoying themselves, so I try my best to make learning fun and interactive.

Personal Description:
Playing the Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Banjo and Harmonica and creating traditional Fine Art have been and are a major part of my life. Much as I would have very much liked to do, I never had the opportunity to become a Professional Performing Musician or a fully Professional Fine Artist . I have performed in public of course, and held exhibitions, but very rarely on a professional/paid basis. I have been a guitarist for over 45 years and an artist for 23 years

I studied art at the Thanet Schools of Art & the Ravensbourne College of Art and Design (the same College David Bowie went to)
for two and a half years. After that I had a twenty two year absence from art.

A change came in 1992: It was during a period of Long Term Unemployment. Whilst signing on at my local Job Center, I volunteered to go on an "Employment Action Course. In a sense this was a form of working for your benefit and was paid an extra 10 per week on top of Job Seekers Allowance. Hopefully this would have lead to work prospects, ideally in Art or The Arts. I had to report to a work placement provider who asked me what skills I had, to which I said "Art" and was assigned to a local Community Arts Center based in Gillingham Kent and appointed as a publicity designer and resources worker.

Whilst in my publicity artist role I was introduced to the then K.C.C Arts Promotion Officer Jim Shean who took interest in my art work and arranged an exhibition hire space without charge at my local library, the event was covered on Radio Kent's "Scene & Heard" Program. I also contacted the local junior school where my children attended and made a proposition if I could exhibit there. In return the headmaster asked my to come into the School twice a week and teach the children art, this featured in a local press article.

Over the years from 1992 to date I have held numerous small one man exhibitions in the Medway Towns and a little further afield and have manged to sell some (just enough to pay a few bills). In the last year or so I have been a little inactive in my art but hope to resolve that soon.

Teaching Experience:

16 years freelance one to one teaching of Guitar - Mandolin - Banjo - Ukulele - Harmonica and Basic Keyboard
Currently a Children s reading assistant for the Beanstalk Charity Project

Tutoring Approach:

Being a music teacher has at least allowed me to put my love of music to a measure of professional application, perhaps to make up for the lost opportunity and time. Being paid is a motivation, but far more importantly teaching others to play and create music is much more enjoyable, I have often gone overtime on my lessons and never charged extra. Also to be considered is the experience gained over many decades of musical struggling, mistakes, embarrassing moments during performance and how to overcome them that I can impart to my pupils. I also look forward to the pupil making sufficient progress so that I can have the pleasure to "Jam" with them.

Personal Description:
I'm well prepared to teach Fine Art at GCSE, A-level and causal learning.
From taking my GCSE, and A-LEVEL Art a year early, to achieving the Highest Joint International grade in GCSE ART and Design: Fine Art I have a thorough understanding of of all three exams and work books, and what the examiners are looking for.

I have previously studied at and had several pieces of work displayed in Marbella Art Gallery, and also sold various pieces.

I'm a friendly, open-minded 19 years old student currently studying a BA Russian and politics degree at University College London (UCL)
I lived in Southern Spain for 3 years, and have a high level of conversational Spanish, and a good understanding of basic grammar and usage. From my personal experience, no matter how much you're taught at school, the best way to UNDERSTAND and learn any language is to use it !

Teaching Experience:

During GCSE ART I played a key role in helping fellow students develop their artistic eye, and see the development of their work book as a 'tick box' exercise; which proved very effective, especially for those who struggled with mandatory teaching

For both ART and SPANISH I've gained a lot of experience through helping, understanding and listening to younger children and adolescents, simple from having a large family and teaching family friends.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to show my students how experimentation, development of ideas and evidence of inspiration are the keys to not only a rich, varied work book, but also an exam piece that ticks all the examiners boxes.
I can help my students see Art at these levels as an examiner 'tick box' exercise, yet still retaining high levels of artistic skill and development. At the same time If any of my students require greater focus on technical drawing/painting guidance i'm more than prepared and experienced.
I'm also happy to use my own work books and pieces as examples of my style.

For SPANISH, I have good conversational skills, and believe the best way to learn any language is to submerse yourself in it - so conversation is a great place to start! From doing all 3 levels of exams at school, I can say that this is the one thing that lacked the most. My style is flexible and I am great with younger children (I also have a young sister who I also helped with Spanish). I'm ready to adjust myself to which ever level is needed

Personal Description:
Having recently just graduated from the University of Leeds with a qualifying 2:1 law degree, I am now living back at home in St. Helens, Merseyside. I work weekdays as a graduate paralegal at a law firm, but in my spare time I would love to tutor people whose position I was in not very long ago. At college I did Law, English Language, Sociology and Geography. Law was my strongest subject which encouraged me to study it at University. I am extremely easy to get along with and have a real bubbly, down to earth personality.

Teaching Experience:

I have no teaching experience; however, as a recent graduate, what I do have is a big understanding of how difficult and daunting it can be to balance work time and down time. I have a great amount of patience and due to my love for Law, I feel I could teach what I know with great compassion and enthusiasm. I take pleasure in helping others and would go above and beyond to help someone reach their full potential.

Tutoring Approach:

Having studied Law for five years, I understand how much case law, facts and dates need to be retained. I would be able to show students the methods I used to help me remember such information as part of exam preparation. It's also key to problem solve and go through questions methodically and systematically, triggering cases as you go along. Past papers are a good way to do this, thus I could provide some of those and we would work through those together. At A-level I did Criminal Law, Tort Law and Contract law, so would feel most at ease teaching those subjects. I also got a 2:1 in all those modules at University and completed my dissertation in the field of Criminal Law.

Personal Description:
I am a postgraduate student from Beijing and currently studying MA in Theatre in the University of York. It has been an exciting journey leaning English since I was a child and I believe I am able to help people who share the same passion about Mandarin now.

Teaching Experience:

I have always paid extra attention to how my tutors were teaching me, both in English and Mandarin; and I have applied the same method to explain course materials to my friends who needed help. I am confident that with my level of English and Mandarin, I can communicate with the students without language barrier, and provide the help needed for them to speak Mandarin fluently.

Tutoring Approach:

I will ask what the students want
