Personal Description:
I am a contemporary artist making visual art for exhibition, publication and screening. I make work in painting, photography and film and I also write and make books. My work often takes me to lots of interesting places around the country and abroad where I facilitate training in art and creativity with a range of community groups. I have been working as an artist in schools since 1997 particularly with primary school aged children. When I am not doing all of this i like to go to the theatre, galleries, travel and cook. I'm part of a local ladies football team who i train with every week and I commute by bicycle whenever I can as keeping fit and active is an important part of my lifestyle.

Teaching Experience:

I began teaching/facilitating as a training advisor in 2001 within a community arts project and adopted a participant-centred approach which was effective in working with participants who were partly or permanently excluded from school or/and living within the foster care system, or unemployed with no or little qualifications. My role was to facilitate the development of individualised project briefs and themes with participants based upon both their strengths and interests and build a programme of workshops to facilitate both creative and Key Skills development. Participants would be encouraged to work independently, individually and in groups in response to self-created briefs to produce a portfolio of creative work. I liaised with outside agencies within education, social services, and industry sectors to actively re-introduce and establish participants who had produced a body of work into full/part time education, work experience or/and relevant employment. The process of facilitation and consultation was quite challenging due to issues and barriers to learning and expression participants displayed and I developed an open, flexible and responsive attitude. Continual monitoring, informal and formal assessment strengthened the reflection and evaluation of participants engagement and progress which in turn led to further developments in implementing differentiated provision.
This experience laid the foundations for a teaching style that was inclusive in nature and was further developed throughout the following years (2002-) of artistic practice that saw me facilitate skills in visual art production with a range of community groups. The combined experiences as a training advisor and as an artist/facilitator have merged into what I consider to be a teaching style that flourished with my role as lecturer on the photography degree at a local college. Working within an institution of further and higher education as a lecturer was a stark contrast to what I had engaged in before and required me to teach within established schemes of work and modes of delivery. I adapted myself to this successfully maintaining a creative and individualised approach to teaching within a framework. The following academic year in 2007 I was given the responsibility of devising the scheme of work and mode of delivery for the critical and theoretical studies module on the photography degree, which was to be co-delivered with a new member of staff.

Tutoring Approach:

Throughout employment as a lecturer and training advisor my approach and teaching style took into consideration each student's individual circumstances, their interests, needs, abilities, and learning styles, adapting the teaching content and style to ensure student engagement. I am also aware of what is needed to effectively strike a balance between individual student aspirations and abilities against collective requirements stipulated by a curriculum. I've worked with students from both vocational and academic backgrounds, with disaffected and culturally diverse youth age groups, with students who have alternative and changing lifestyles, mental health and physical conditions, and do so by adapting style and content to structure and scaffold their journey through the course offering the relevant support and pastoral care.

*NOW BOOKING FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-17*

Thank you for looking at my profile.

I am a full time, professional tutor, specialising in English, maths and general study skills. I achieve excellent results and students look forward to my sessions. As detailed below, I have a wealth of experience and success working with students with Special Educational Needs, and other difficulties which have prevented them from accessing the curriculum fully.

I have a very calm, patient and friendly approach to tuition. I will explain and revisit as many times as needed and use a variety of methods to make tricky topics memorable. I use a range of resources and approaches, tailored to student preferences and different learning styles.

I am qualified teacher with a BEd teaching degree and a Masters degree in education, plus other courses attended to further my professional development.

MEd: I have a Masters Degree in Education, completed in 2013.
The modules I studied are as follows:
`Educational enquiry` (research in education) (2013)
`Investigating language in action`(supporting learners of English) (2012)
`Difficulties in literacy development` (specifically dyslexia) (2008)

British Dyslexia Association and Unicorn Maths- `Dyscalculia Plus` (2012)

BEd Primary with Qualified Teacher Status (subject specialism English) (2003)

BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies (Learning and development 0-8 years) (1999)

9 GCSE`s all A-C:
Child Development, English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, French, History, Religious Education, Science. (1997)

Teaching Experience:

My specialist subjects are English, maths and Special Educational Needs.

I have held a number of roles:

*private tutor
*university Specialist Tutor for dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and autism
*primary school class teacher for nursery to Y2 (inner city school; many children had behavioural/emotional issues and did not have English as their first language)
*cover teacher for nursery to Y6
*subject co-ordinator for Personal, Social and Health Education
*subject co-ordinator for music

As well as teaching, I have worked in a variety of settings as a nursery nurse and nanny. I have been able to build excellent relationships with parents and children and am still in touch with families that I have worked with over the years.

References: available on request

Tutoring Approach:

I support students with many different needs and situations. These include:

*dyslexia
*dyspraxia
*dyscalculia (difficulty with maths)
*self esteem or confidence issues
*children who struggle at school due to emotional or behavioural issues
*children who have missed school for various reasons
*children who are home educated
*adults who want to `catch up` or improve their English and maths
*college and university students who need support with essay writing, proofreading and exam revision techniques

Over the past 4 years in my role as a tutor, my students have made excellent progress in terms of confidence, catching up with age-related expectations and achieving the desired level or above in 11+ or Year Six SATs. I have a loyal student base and much of my work now comes from existing student recommendations.

Recent successes:

Children who have not responded to tuition in the past have really engaged with the subject and made good progress.

Children who were struggling with Year 6 SATs have achieved at least one level higher than predicted.

Those tutored for 11+ exams have passed and gained entry to their chosen school (Two to Wolverhampton Grammar, one to King Edward`s Birmingham).

Feedback from a Masters level student on completion of her dissertation:

I would like to express my deepest thanks to my support tutor Zoe whose support has been most invaluable, without which I could not have possibly completed this project, and I am forever grateful for her help.
(Taken with permission from the acknowledgements of her dissertation, May 2015).

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and passionate graduate from Oxford University with a love for languages. Having achieved a first class degree in French and Linguistics, I am keen to pass on my knowledge and love of language and literature to other students. I completed a research Masters in West African French literature, and am currently pursuing my studies in the second year of my doctorate whilst also developing my teaching experience. I hold a TEFL qualification and have taught a wide range of students in France, Brazil and the UK.

Teaching Experience:

TEFL teaching:
- Beginner and Intermediate classes at International House London as part of training. Highly commended.
- Part of a student-led initiative in Oxford to teach English to low wage workers. We organised evening classes for international adult students of multiple levels of proficiency.
- Teaching experience in Wizard and ERTE schools in Bahia, Brazil.
- Private tutoring for GCSE student as well as adults learning French.
- English tandem learning with advanced adult learner from China: conversational and written English.

British council:
- English teacher for 11-16 year olds in Laval, France in 2009-10. Planned and delivered English lessons focussed on speaking and listening, current affairs, and reading skills.

Warwick University:
- Teaching first and second year students in French language and literature as part of my PhD.

Primary school:
- Teaching assistant 2006-7 in Garden House School, London. Prepared and assisted lessons for year 1 pupils, as well as organising timetables and caring for students. Involved some special needs assistance.

Youth work:
- Worked as part of two youth work teams over 3 years to organise activities and teach teenagers aged 15-19.

Mentoring:
- Reading programmes with younger students struggling with English language.
- Advised and assisted GCSE and A-level students in preparation for exams and applying for higher education.

Tutoring Approach:

Depending on the individual needs of each student, I will prepare a range of tasks to build confidence in specific areas of weakness. From past experience, a lack of confidence is one of the biggest barriers to learning, so in all cases I seek to reassure a student of existing strengths and abilities before and during our tuition. More generally, we will develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills through different activities to strengthen and accelerate ongoing language learning. Where appropriate/desired, I will bring in relevant texts and materials to develop broader reading building up analytical and critical skills. Grammar work will always feature, though in well-balanced chunks which aim to be accessible AND enjoyable!

Most importantly, I hope to inspire students of any level to relish and enjoy their studies, and to yearn for a more solid grasp of their subject and a higher proficiency in each area of language learning.

Personal Description:
¡Buenas! Me llamo Patricia y... ¡soy la profesora que estás buscando! Understood that? No? Then you really need my classes! :)

I am a bilingual Spanish and English teacher from Madrid, Spain, confident in my ability and passion to teach.
I am a sociable, dynamic, cheerful, self-confident and highly motivated with a responsible commitment to everything I carry out, especially when duties as an educator are concerned. I am a hard-working professional, enthusiastic about teaching but learning at the same time. I believe I am skilled in the design of challenging and innovative activities that address the diverse interests and needs of students. My goal is to motivate them by ascertaining their inner strengths, abilities and the activities that truly inspire them.

With over 7 years teaching experience, I have been teaching successfully English and Spanish at all levels (from 1 year old babies to adults), exams preparations, business classes, etc. My experience has provided me with an excellent background in the field of teaching, which is my passion, and has enabled me with the skills and methodology required to be a great teacher in every sense.

Through teaching, I get to live my passion, I love working with kids, teenagers or adults, regardless of the kind of student, there is no better feeling than to stimulate a person's social, emotional, physical and academic growth. I love the result of my job. Every day I am determined to help people realise how easy and fulfilling learning can be.

So, it doesn't matter whether you are 10 or 50, if you are looking for business Spanish classes, passing an exam, or just learning in order to go to our wonderful beaches and be able to order a paella at a restaurant! Whatever your needs are I will make sure our classes suit them perfectly! :)

Teaching Experience:

With over 8 years teaching experience, I have been teaching successfully English and Spanish at all levels (from 1 year old babies to adults), exams preparations, business classes, etc. My experience has provided me with an excellent background in the field of teaching, which is my passion, and has enabled me with the skills and methodology required to be a great teacher in every sense.

I had the privilege of being Head of the English Department at SLG Institute of Education and International Euro-American University during 5 years, in charge of all the English-related subjects teaching the language to adults at all levels required (on-site and on-line classes).

Regarding private tuition, I started working as a private teacher in Madrid where I developed my own methodology. After being in several schools devoted to pre-school and primary education, I decided to create something of my own by request of my private students who were increasing very fast. Thus, I created my own company of private teachers, that way I could reach more students as the feedback I had already received was extraordinary. It was an amazing experience in which I was responsible for a team of teachers working according to my method and materials (hired after a recruitment and training process led by myself).
As you can tell, when it comes to private classes I know what I am talking about!

I had the pleasure of becoming part of the academic team in Kids & Us, a very special international school meant for children from 1 to 13 years old. Its methodology is rooted firmly in natural language acquisition. Thanks to this great year being immersed in a kids world, I could learn a lot from them, such as techniques used in order to encourage student learning within this method, ways to establish good rapport¦ Always making certain the kids receive sufficient praise and positive reinforcement which fosters confidence for them to reach their full potential.

I began tutoring in the UK at all levels more than three years ago with great success as well as coordinating Spanish teaching in the school I worked for more than two years, here in Birmingham.

During this time I have been able to get to know the National Curriculum and focus on helping lots of students with the preparation for the A Levels and GCSE exams with proven great results.

I have taught Spanish to students of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds, at all levels. I have learned through my experience the main difficulties British students face when learning Spanish as a Second Language. For this reason, I will always make sure my lessons meet each individual`s learning styles and needs.

My teaching method is rooted firmly in the communicative and task-based approach developing your ability to speak, read, write and understand the language regardless of your level. And believe me, all of this can be great fun!

This year I was looking forward to a new challenge, therefore I decided to start a new personal project, I am opening my own Spanish Language Centre in the heart of Birmingham, The Jewellery Quarter. I really hope to see you all, either in the Language Centre or, if it is more convenient for your location, in my house where I also teach. ¡Nos vemos pronto! :)

Personal Description:
Hello and welcome to my tutor profile! Here I'll try to answer to the questions you could have before booking a session with me.

- Let's start with my teaching system.
I am familiar with tutoring face-to-face (6 years) and online (+3 years). I have been part of a research which involves language teaching and technology, and I am right now studying a Masters' Degree in Online Education and Virtual Course Design. I use a wide range of visual tools to make lessons more appealing (virtual whiteboard, Google Drive, etc.) and have a personal platform to connect all my students.

- How do I speak?
I have a language certificate for working in the media, so my diction and elocution skills are very good. In case you wondered, I have a clear standard accent from Spain (and an Occidental accent in Catalan).

- How am I going to make you improve your language skills?
Let me be honest: I am a language learner myself, so I know the key is practice, practice... and practice! But I have good news for you: I'm here to help you with it in the most fun possible way, without forgetting about the cultural aspect of the language. Of course we'll see grammar (it is necessary), but always in a very practical context and according to your needs.

- How about session types?
This is absolutely up to you! From exam preparation, grammar, writing and conversation to the most advanced rules of ortotypography (I am a proofreader). This is the good part of teaching one-to-one, that I can tailor my lessons to your needs and learning style. You set your goal, I design a specific lesson plan!

Do you still have any questions? Then please get in touch, I'll be happy to help!

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching Spanish and Catalan for +3 years in a famous language platform. During this time, I have given more than 1000 online lessons to +180 students, with 100% attendance and positive feedback. References available upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

CONVERSATION
It doesn't matter if you're new to the magic of this beautiful language or if you've been studying it for ages (and secretly admit that you never took it seriously).

It doesn't matter if you don't know any other language or if you already speak 7 of them fluently.

It doesn't matter if you're 10 or 78.

Do you want to learn Spanish now? Then, that is all that matters.

Just let me know your goal and I'll create a path for us to follow. Learn some new expressions? Vocabulary related to a specific field (e.g. business Spanish)? Maybe you'd like to practise that complicated grammar structure you're struggling with? Or do you want to communicate effectively in a job interview or during a trip to Spanish-speaking countries? Doesn't matter how specific they are, let me know your language wishes and I'll make them happen.

____

ACCENT REDUCTION
Do you have a special interest in perfecting your accent in Spanish? Do you want to roll your [r] like Spanish people do? To follow specific training on a certain sound? In my university research (2014) I have proved that it is possible to do so via Skype, and this is actually the field I specialise in. In this course, I will diagnose your speech, prepare individualised exercises tailored to your needs and create a path for you to follow in order to achieve your phonetic goals.

If you're curious about this type of training, I can provide the reference of one of my students, who trained very hard and in around 2 months was able to roll her [r], or another student, who could improve her prosody and expressivity in only two sessions. Don't hesitate to send a message if you're interested or have any questions!

Personal Description:
Hi my name is Jake

I am an experienced photographer/videographer with many years of practice, I have a degree from Nottingham Trent University along with a video production company called Capture the Guru. Over the years I have worked in many different areas of both disciplines, finding myself specialising in architectural photography and music based videography.

I have in-depth knowledge in both practical skills and in the psychology of interpreting images and video, this allows me to not only teach you how to take and record quality material, along with how to work with it in post-production but to also consider how your work will be received.

However most importantly I want to take the interest that you have currently and give you the skills to truly produce material to be proud of, along with further instilling the enjoyment that is so important.

Teaching Experience:

I have not had much formal teaching experience as of yet, however I have taught a fair few people tricks in order for them to produce better snaps. Whilst I was studying me and a group of friends on the course banded together to help teach each other the parts we struggled with, I was always very apt with the technical side of photography and would teach the others how to used different forms of cameras and how to emulate specific styles that we were learning about.

Now however since working within video my colleague and me are constantly teaching each other new tricks whilst filming and editing.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is simple, to discover the level of enjoyment and enhance it. We can all become frustrated when the need to produce our ideas is limited by our current knowledge and when it comes to mediums like photography and videography a practical hands-on lesson far surpasses any online tutorial.

I am a very hand-on and location based teacher, Instead of giving you material to read I want to show you techniques, allow you to feel what it is like to be searching for an image you may not fully understand.

Personal Description:
I am a creative artist, actor and educator, inspired by performance art in all its forms. I am fortunate to work doing what I love. My current artistic interests include puppetry and performance, theatre in non-traditional spaces, and working as a freelance dramaturg to help smaller scale theatre companies realise their artistic aims and consolidate their working practices.

I attended a Grammar School, RGS Worcester, a top school with high expectations. I excelled in this environment, always achieving the best academic results. I am now, as I was then, a high achiever.

I am a keen writer and maker of puppets, I find nothing more relaxing than long immersive forays into the imagination.

I am a keen martial artist, stage fighter, and fencer. I'm a big lover of all things outdoors, the wilder, the better.

As an avid reader I am particularly drawn to heroic fantasy and sprawling worlds, beguiling first person narratives, comparative religious and spiritual studies, psychology, and history.

Teaching Experience:

My first degree from The University of Bristol nudged me in the direction of teaching. I worked for 6 years as a secondary school teacher, delivering Drama and English lessons, including GCSE and A level, from year 7- year 13. I offered extra-curricular tutorials to students to help them achieve their desired results. This included university entrance master classes.

During my tenure at the second school I worked at my lessons were recorded by Edexcel Examination Board as an exemplar of excellent practice.

As a teacher my services were sought by 'feeder' primary schools and I started leading workshops at primary level. While doing this I became aware of the need for more educational provision in non-formal settings. I eventually went part-time at schools, and began working with, and for, local councils to provide literacy workshops for young people who felt disenfranchised by traditional educational settings. My work with Redditch Borough Council as Outreach officer earned me an 'Outstanding personal Achievement Award'.

Since turning my attention to acting I have maintained strong links with my educational roots, I still work in schools, community centres, universities, as tutor, facilitator and lecturer. I will always think of myself as an educator, my most satisfying professional moments involve inspiring others, and these moments always occur when teaching and tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

Student focused and forward thinking, the best learning happens when student and tutor share a mutually inspiring relationship.

I worked for 6 years as a secondary teacher, delivering English, English Literature and Drama from Year 7 up to Year 13, including GCSE and A Level. I am extremely experienced in coursework and exam preparation. As a teacher I received the best results for my students, and the best feedback for myself (including twice being given an 'outstanding' accolade by Ofsted.)

I still work extensively as an educator: as tutor, lecturer and workshop facilitator, both in formal and non-formal settings, teaching young people of all ages from primary to university level.

I have a personable and gentle teaching style, tempered by profound understanding of examination board requirements. Moreover, my many years working as an arts educator has entailed the need to develop a flexible range of teaching strategies correspondent to the varying learning preferences of my students. I have worked with hundreds of students, in a multitude of different settings.

Personal Description:
A full-time Maths and Physics tutor, methodical graduate of Oxford University and sensitive musician. Pleased to meet you.

I am an experienced and well-organised tutor of Physics, Maths and Astronomy with tremendous love for science and art. There is little else I find as gratifying like an engaging tutoring session with a mind striving to understand the world and the laws that govern it. Teaching has been the reason I chose to study for a Physics degree all along, and I am now very confident on my grasp of the subject. I can help you ace your exams, improve your grades or simply discover the Universe.

My background is a little exotic, as I used to compete internationally at Physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics competitions. A science athlete, if you will. This has put me in contact with brilliant minds and ideas and have built a reputation of excellence and imagination. I take my culture seriously, and I am an avid consumer of literature, cinema and music.

I'm also very passionate about songwriting and I am currently studying melodic modes and chord theory. I still feel I have a lot to learn, but I am fascinated by the way certain harmonies trigger very particular emotions in the human brain. It's a mystery I would love to crack. I also offer tutoring in music technology and instrument techniques, as this is my favorite past time activity, but don't be fooled by my artistic side. Music is built on a foundation of advanced symmetry and mathematics, and this perhaps justifies part of my fascination for it.

So should you want to learn about the universal laws, exercise your logic, get help with homework or train to apply to university, I will be more than happy to accommodate you.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously taught at my high-school as a substitute teacher for excellence groups. I also did private tutoring for people wanting to pass their Baccalaureate exam.

Tutoring Approach:

I love to work with curious minds, but years of practice taught me to apply myself to all kinds of people and students, as everyone learns differently. I am very patient and attentive, and you will find that gaining solid understanding can happen in a relaxed manner as well. My approach is to shift between grinding a particular subject and returning to the bigger picture, as I find all knowledge is connected and proficiency is rarely the sum of its parts. I also try to be aware of my students biggest gaps and hurdles and not move on until they start feeling comfortable with the newly acquired perspective. I believe I am very resourceful when it comes to re-arranging an explanation or finding a different analogy that can illuminate a missing link and consolidate understanding. Albert Einstein was dead right when he stated, in regards to teaching, that "If you can`t explain it to a six year old, you don`t understand it yourself".

Personal Description:
I attended three other different national science schools held in the best Lithuanian universities. At "Physics Olympus" I learned experimental Physics and acquired strong theoretical background while at the Chemistry school "Knowledge" I boosted my practical skills working in university laboratories and broadened my theoretical knowledge. In "National Students Academy" not only have I extended my knowledge in Chemistry| but also| I have met the most talented students in the country| improved group working and cooperation skills| visited one of the "Thermo Fisher Scientific" centres and gained experience in Biochemistry. I was a participant of the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) in Iran in 2012 and in India in 2013. In the latter I was awarded a Silver Medal. In 2015 I participated in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in India. My knowledge was awarded either Gold or Silver Medals in Physics and Chemistry National Olympiads every year. In the Mathematics and Biology National competitions I received honourable mentions. Now I want to share my knowledge with others in maths and natural sciences.

Teaching Experience:

I have 1 year tutoring experience of Chemistry preparing a student for National State Exams which are equivalents to A level exams. I have been also helping 11 years old student with his homework of Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I tend to explain the basic principles firstly, later I am developing students' s ability to solve problems by themselves starting from easy questions and building knowledge to thinking required solutions.
