Personal Description:
I am a 47 year old Open University graduate with a 2.1 Honours degree in Computing, Science and Mathematics. I teach Computer Aided Design and Engineering Mathematics at my local college. I pride myself in my work and offer friendly, relaxed and professional tuition on a one to one basis or in small groups. I am able to travel to learner's home in most circumstances, but certain locations may incur a small travel fee. I pride myself in my work and employ innovative and effective teaching methods in an effort to make learning a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience. I have a caring and friendly approach and always put my pupil's needs first, at all times.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for over 7 years now, both in local colleges and in pupil's private residences. I have experience of teaching pupils of all ages as well as pupils with SEN including dyslexia and dyspraxia. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my work and I believe this is clearly exhibited in my tutoring sessions. I have extensive experience of teaching 11-19 year olds as well as teaching the older generation. I currently teach Computer Aided Design and Engineering Mathematics at Wakefield College as well as private maths and science tuition up to and including A level standard.

Tutoring Approach:

During my tutoring sessions, I make every effort to ensure the learning experience is both an enjoyable and interesting one. I use a variety of learning resources and tutoring methods to introduce a varied and innovative approach to the session. I always engage with the pupil and listen carefully to every one of their responses. I take the pupil through a carefully formulated learning program which is compiled from a detailed assessment of their tuition requirements; this is always discussed with the parent/guardian before the program commences, to ensure that they are happy with the arrangements. I am a very friendly and relaxed individual and I like to convey these feelings during my tutoring sessions and always try to make the pupil feel comfortable with the whole learning process and ensure I work at their pace at all times.

Personal Description:
I am a professional educator with a wealth of experience in a wide variety of teaching environments. I've taught in schools (Primary and Secondary) around Hampshire covering almost all the curriculum, been a private tutor for a wealthy family in the Middle East, and helped local students improve their GCSE and A-Level grades.

I trained in Physics and have a Masters degree in Physics with Space Science and Technology from the university of Leicester. I now teach Physics and Mathematics at a variety of levels in Gosport and offer local tuition.

Presently, my circumstances make it difficult to offer tuition, and can only accommodate students coming to my home in Gosport.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in 2009 and took up a post in a 11-18 state comprehensive. Here I taught Science at Key Stage 3 and specialised in Physics at Key Stages 4 and 5. After I moved to the south coast I spent 6 months supplying at various schools in Hampshire. This opened my eyes to the full range of skills a good educator should have. I honestly feel my teaching skills were vastly enriched by teaching in a variety of environments in many different subjects.
From March 2011 I was hired by a prestigious tutoring agency based in Oxford to work for a wealthy client and their two sons in the Middle East. This consisted of after-school tutoring 5 evenings a week in a variety of subjects.
Now back in the UK I teach in an Engineering Academy run to train Network Rail Apprentices. I tutor in the evenings from 11+ entrance exam students to those sitting their A2 exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I truly believe that every child is born a genius, with the ability to grasp everything that is put in front of them. From that point on, society, parents, and peers all put barriers in our minds. It is my goal to see that these barriers are destroyed. Learning is done by the student rather than teaching done by the teacher. A teacher can teach a dog to whistle, it doesn't meant the dog will learn.

A tutor is merely a resource. Just like a book, or an expensive laptop. Achieving the optimal results requires a holistic approach to education. I tend to work heavily with educational psychology theory and pinpoint the exact pieces of the puzzle far beneath the surface that allow the bigger picture to be seen. I teach my tutees to look at examinations in a way they may have never seen them before, allowing them to reduce the anxiety and be truly confident in themselves.

The content of subject matter often comes second to learning technique. How people learn differs between individuals. There can never be one set way to solve a problem so I offer various routes and pin point techniques that can be beneficial.

Personal Description:
I work with my students to increase their confidence and help them improve their communication skills, in speaking and writing.

I have an English Degree from Bristol University, and I speak fluent French. I have a Trinity TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification.

I have worked as a writer, journalist and editor in this country and abroad, for magazines, newspapers and the BBC World Service.
I have worked for the UN and the EU, as well as many private clients and international aid agencies.

I came to tutoring in Africa, where it was clear that my services and experience could be very useful to students at all levels: I have taught one to one and in small groups, privately and most recently for a comprehensive school in Surrey.

I have also edited an MA thesis in History of Art for the Courtauld and some theses for Sotheby's History of Art students (we normally do very well!).

I have an Assessor's and Verifier's Award for CITY and Guilds NVQ courses. I am also teaching English and other subjects in Prisons in London, Kent and Sussex.

I am a mother of two boys, both now at university. My husband works in conservation which is why the family has travelled extensively. We are now back in England for the foreseeable future.

Teaching Experience:

Private students (A level and GCSE) and also teach GCSE English on a 1:1 basis to the lower sets of students at Jubilee International High School in Surrey. They have all raised their grades significantly and are much more confident with their work.
EFL at Guildford College to young Spanish students - Summer 2013.
I speak fluent French; I was a governor at Cranbrook School in Kent, and stood in for a term for the French assistante when she had to go home early. My A level students did well, and two continued their classes with me privately.
Tutor at Make the Grade tuition in Tunbridge Wells and also at summer English revision courses at Tonbridge School.
I devised and delivered a course for women journalists in Sierra Leone and taught creative writing and English at Foura Bay University.
Creative writing privately to groups, and at the University of Kent. I have helped students with presentation and interview skills, their CVs and Drama and Performing Arts GCSE.
Assessed NVQ Level 2 students in Customer Service with a 100% pass record.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand communication at all levels - verbal, written and on the web - and I am passionate about making people understand each other. I care very much about the basics - grammar, punctuation, spelling, and I have devised effective study skills tools which make a real difference.

My sessions are fun and inspiring. I am patient, and approachable, and work hard with my pupils to help them reach their full potential. I cannot do magic, but even the least able have contacted me after their exams to tell me they felt more confident about them. Some even told me they enjoyed them!

I am a 31 year old, London based teacher who has recently returned from living and teaching overseas. I love teaching and have the CELTA qualification, as well as six years experience. I am flexible with hours and will charge half price if you can find a friend to join you!

Teaching Experience:

Six years.

IELTS, CAE, FCE

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer not to lecture students and instead put the focus on them, using what they already know in order to help them develop understanding by themselves. In the EFL world this is known as 'guided discovery'. Experience has shown me that this is a highly effective way of learning.

I like to be as practical as possible when teaching, meaning that I always put language into context and prefer to demonstrate rather than lecture.

I am friendly and patient, but I am also serious about the job and aim to do everything possible to develop my students' ability.

DO YOU NEED A TUTOR FOR EXAMS/RE-SIT EXAMS THIS YEAR? LOOK NO FURTHER!

GRADE 1 OUTSTANDING - OFSTED
I have been the Head of Accounting since 2006, at a large Catholic Sixth Form College in Hulme, Manchester. I am 39 years old, married with 2 children, living in Didsbury, South Manchester. I gained my degree in Economics and Finance in 1998 from Leicester University. I began teaching in 2002 so have many years of experience teaching Accounting.

I offer tutition at my home, either at the weekend, or weekday evenings. However, I am usually able to offer tuition during the school/college holidays.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my PGCE at Manchester University in 2002. I only teach Accounting AS and A2 Level, and this is therefore my main specialism. I can also help students in need of tutoring on the Finance elements of the Business Studies A Level, or on Accouning/Finance elements of Business/Accounting/Finance degree courses.

I teach the AQA specification. However, I can also tutor students who are following the OCR specification.

Many tutors are not willing to advertise the results they have achieved with students. I recommend you read the section below on the results i have achieved with my A Level Accounting students.

Also, many tutors seem to offer tuition in a wide variety of subjects. Are they really specialists in so many different subjects? I am an Accounting specialist, and only offer tuition in Accounting or the Finance elements of a Business course. If you need a Maths tutor, then hire a Maths specialist. If you need an Accounting tutor, then hire me!

Tutoring Approach:

Many other tutors seem to describe their strategies/relationships etc, without mentioning anything concrete like exam results! Surely the one thing a prospective student wants to know about is exam results!?!? Read on.

I have an incredibly strong track record of results at A Level Accounting. Compare the results of my students against the national benchmarks below. Please compare the difference between my students, and the benchmarks. We are WAY ahead!

My A2 Accounting students in 2016:

Grade A*-B = 51%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2016:

Grade A*-B = 35%

Each department within the college is graded according to the college's own internal validation procedure. I have been graded as 1 'OUTSTANDING' for 10 years on the row, since I became head of the department!!!

The Accounting department was also graded as 1 'OUTSTANDING' in the last OFSTED report in Jan 2010. Key Findings from Ofsted:

"A high proportion of students achieve grades A and B. In A-Level Accounting more than two thirds of students gained a high grade (A-B). In AS Accounting, almost four times the national average achieved a high grade (A-B)."

I have been awarded grade 1 on the ALPS measure for value added on 3 seperate occasions in recent years. This means i add more value to my students than any other college in the country. Value added measures the difference between what the Government predicts a student should achieve at A Level based on their GCSE performance and what they actually achieve.

Here are the previous years results, so you can see that the performance is ALWAYS impressive, and WAY ABOVE benchmark.

My A2 Accounting students in 2015:

Grade A*-B = 48%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2015:

Grade A*-B = 34%

My A2 Accounting students in 2014:

Grade A*-B = 56%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2014:

Grade A*-B = 36%

My A2 Accounting students in 2013:

Grade A*-B = 68%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2013:

Grade A*-B = 38%

My A2 Accounting students in 2012:

Grade A*-B = 68%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2012:

Grade A*-B = 36%

My A2 Accounting students in 2011:

Grade A*-B = 54.54%
Grade A*-E = 100%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2011:

Grade A*-B = 35.12%
Grade A*-E = 94.89%

My A2 Accounting students in 2010:

Grade A*-B = 67.35%
Grade A*-E = 100%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2010:

Grade A*-B = 37.36%
Grade A*-E = 93.94%

My A2 Accounting students in 2009:

Grade A*-B = 66.67%
Grade A*-E = 100%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2009:

Grade A*-B = 35.83%
Grade A*-E = 93.44%

My A2 Accounting students in 2008:

Grade A*-B = 77.27%
Grade A*-E = 100%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2008:

Grade A*-B = 33.93%

Personal Description:
As a University of Kent graduate with good grades on Mathematics, Biology and Psychology subjects, I have made my pursuit on making tutorial sessions with those students who need help with the subjects which I am really good at.

Teaching Experience:

As an experienced tutor I do believe that learning isn't hard if there is a good and talented mentor who could best encouraged every learner to acquire new things and become competitive at school.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutorial have been the answer for grade related problems of every students. Most of the time students encounter such problems because of inattentiveness due to confusions that is being created during their daily lessons at school. During my tutoring every detail is scrutinized up to the single one.

As a tutor I love showing my tutees the joy of learning through different activities which they will always find interesting. With my pursuit to help students I have different strategies being used depending upon the age and level of difficulty of the topic to be taught.

I strongly believe that a good tutor knows how to listen to his tutee. I always let my tutees to tell their concerns, and have a personal talk with them. Getting to know each other is the first thing that every tutor should do, this is the best way to help them feel more at ease.

I see to it that my tutees are learning from what I am talking and discussing. This made me a favorite of my previous tutees who are now a tutor to some of their younger friends in their place. I always find the best way to teach them for them to learn the topic in the easiest way possible.

The need to have a good tutor with a heart to its tutee is a must. In my entire experience in tutoring I have learned to established connection to my tutee. As a facilitator of learning it is important to work with students rather than lecturing them. The steps, methods and procedures should be done in a way that all of the details are being understood by the tutee.

A good tutor encourages students to remain active during the period of learning and mentoring. Every tutee would love to be with a tutor who treats him as friend. For me the best way to help the learners is to become their friend and not as somebody who treats them as a student.

Tutoring should be done in a way that is made fun and exciting; no tutee would like to be with a boring tutor. So when I was having my first year of experience in tutoring I always prepare the necessary things in order to make the entire learning process effective.

Aside from being ready for the tutoring sessions, the topics I used to teach them are in line with their discussions. Most of my tutees where having their advance lessons during the tutorial I am giving them, mostly if they are going to join a school competition.

For those who are interested to become my tutee I am always free and available all the time. I am also offering tutorial sessions directly to your home provided you are around North West London.

Personal Description:
I am native Argentinian who has been living in the UK for the past 14 years. I also spent 6 years living in Spain, so I am very familiar with both cultures.

Having worked with language and business for many years, I have a combination of cultural knowledge, teaching experience and training qualifications that make my lessons informative and fun.

I enjoy working with people; I am also a practicing psychotherapist and I carefully design and adapt my lessons to meet my students' needs - making learning Spanish exciting and interesting.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Spanish since 2006, one-to-one and small group language training for business people and individuals who need language skills for work, travel or exams ( A- Levels, GCSE, School support, etc)

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is focused on process. I view the content of my courses
as a vehicle for teaching students how to think and understand the subjects we are working on. I attempt to accomplish this in three ways. One, I help students to get excited about learning. Two, I teach students to think about things from diferent perspectives and materials. And three, I help them to move forward with their knowledge. I believe that these three interconnected goals not only allow students to learn the specific content of my courses, but also to learn how to think critically about any new information they may face in the future.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate with a Bachelors (Hons) in Business Management, a Masters in Education, Economics & Politics and AAT qualified (accounting) with CIMA certificate.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for a year now and really enjoy building a rapport with my students in order to bring out the potential in them by encouraging their confidence and interest in the subject.

Tutoring Approach:

Firstly I will go through the syllabus with the student and ascertain which areas need most focus and in which order.
Upon finishing each topic, I give my students a recap test at the start of each session to refresh their memory on what we have already covered.
For each topic, I will give an example and go through it with the student and then ask them to complete a few questions until they are confident enough to move on.
When nearing exams, I will take the student through past papers.

Personal Description:
I'm a Brazilian freelance photographer and film-maker based in London. Specialized in making ethnographic videos and documentaries, I also film and photograph live events, including talks, workshops and performances. I have worked in the UK and internationally creating content for research agencies, charities, schools, universities, individuals and businesses.

I hold an MA in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London. I also have ten years professional experience as an image-maker, stretching back to my time as a photojournalist for Jornal do Commércio, a regional newspaper in my hometown of Recife. My academic training and extensive practical experience allow me to work with understanding and sensitivity whilst representing people's habits, cultures and environments. I am attuned to capturing the details of people's everyday lives and the ways they communicate, eat, dance, work, pray, interact and shape their homes.

My approach to photography and film-making relies on building an empathetic, personal and respectful relationship with people, applying methods of anthropology, and documentary, alongside poetic imagery and engaging storytelling.

Tutoring Approach:

When tutoring I like to combine theory and hands on practice encouraging people to become independent learners, creative and critical thinkers. I have an empathetic, relaxed and joyful approach to tutoring and like to develop a good relationship with people to ensure that they feel comfortable to learn and to feedback on lessons. I like to work in collaboration with people to tailor lessons according to their needs, interests and levels.

With years of experience practising image making and studding the subject, I believe that theory and practice go hand in hand. With photography and film I think it's important to develop our 'ways of seeing' both by looking at things that have been made and by studding the thinking and mechanics behind these medias. It is also important to reflect on our own practice to develop our abilities and discover our potential.

A hand on experience is key when learning how to photograph and film. It is by practising that we familiarize ourselves and learn how to handle confidently our instrument of work. It's also by practising that we expose ourselves and learn how to deal with the unforeseen events that confront us when we are photographing and filming - be it the instability of light, decisions regarding compositions, interaction with a diversity of people, a great range of emotions that are presented to us while we hold the camera, etc.

I can facilitate photography and film making from camera work to editing for children, young people and adults. Please do get in touch to discuss - I'm always happy to help!
