Personal Description:
I believe that learning a language can enrich your life and should be done in a fun and interesting way. My parents encouraged me to travel from a young age and I suppose I developed an 'ear' for languages through being made to ask for ice-creams and make friends with local kids! I also learned French and German at school and then went on an intensive course in Florence to learn Italian - then went on to study both German and Italian at the University of Reading. Tutoring Approach:
My current job is 'specialist teacher for children with physical and neurological impairments', a job I love but I am missing my languages! I studied my undergraduate degree (music) at York University, and studied my Masters in Music at Keele University, for which I recieved a distinction. I am a published scholar with an musicological article published on the analysis of popular music. I am currently on the second year of my PhD in Music, at Keele University.
In my free time I enjoy television comedies, listening to and making pop music, and sort, particularly korfball, squash and tennis. I write and perform music with the pop trio Cats in the Alley; we have several albums and over 100 live gigs under our belt.

Teaching Experience:
I have two years experience of teaching piano on a one-to-one basis, teaching beginners who are now up to their grade 3 standard. I combine syllabus and classical repertoire with theory, pop and jazz style, as well as composition.
I have aided university students, including postgraduate students in their written work.

Tutoring Approach:
I try to keep a relatively laid back and unpressured atmosphere in my lessons; engaging with the students in a friendly way to encourage a friendly relationship with the subject matter.
