Personal Description:
I am a jovial person who enjoys the vocation of teaching; I love to see the light go on in a learner. I am an Englishman abroad and wouldn't change where I live for a moment.

I am a keen musician (very amatuer) and my limited spare time is spent in my home studio mucking about and not getting anything actually achieved. I also enjoy the restoration of my house and garden which, like the Forth bridge, will never be finished!

I am a dog owner and nature lover and have a broad teaching style; I prefer the learner to dictate the style and I find the methods to fit.

Please feel free to ask questions.

Thank you

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher for over 20 years which culminated in a Head of Dept roll for 5 years (Business Studies). I have been very fortunate in my career to have taught all age groups many different subjects. I have returned to mainstream secondary education, teaching Business Studies and ICT following A level ICT at Coleg Menai and tutition for Single parents (charity) which has provided me with different skills and approaches rather than just formal classroom led instruction.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a holistic type and I always want the learner to be happy with an answer they give and know "why" the answer is correct. I hopefully bring humour (debatable) and a wide variety of methods to my teaching along with contemporary examples.

At present I am available in the evenings (Mon to Thurs, 5 to 8).

Please note that my prices include no additional travel expenses up to 15 miles from my home and I am perfectly happy to offer group discounts - the more learners the cheaper the individual cost.

Thanks for looking.

Personal Description:
HI!

I am a multilingual, legal executive and researcher with a long-standing passion in teaching, lecturing and management. I have taught at all levels from primary to the university level.

My teaching experience extends over 20 years and is backed by professional qualifications in each field that I teach. I.e. Law, English and Arabic.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught both Arabic and English (native speaker) at various levels - up to university undergraduate level, at several London and UK-based schools as well as managing and directing an international language school in the Middle East.

I also tutor law, up to and including undergraduate level, this includes the foundation subjects: Equity and Trusts, Tort, European, Criminal, Public, Land and Contract.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a relaxed interactive, seminarial approach whenever practical. I am not, however, averse to IT based or traditional methods and welcome a diverse and results-oriented approach. My aim is to help you achieve your goals.

I recommend that you book for a one hour meeting / tutorial initially as further tuition can then be discussed.

If you are outside my locality and would like me to travel to you then we can discuss the fee and travel arrangements.

Personal Description:
I love history! I have been 'doing' history since I was 14, and it is something that encapsulates me into a whole different world. I have worked as a history teacher at a secondary school for 10 years, and have loved delving back into the past with the older and younger students alike. I studied and worked in archaeology before becoming a history teacher, and found working with real objects from the past was an amazing experience.

At home, I am mum to a 6 year old daughter, and 4 year old son, a cat and a dog. We keep ourselves busy being outdoors as much as possible and are totally hooked on camping! We enjoy the freedom it allows and

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching History at KS3, GCSE, AS and A-Level for 10 years. For four of those ten years I was Head of Department, responsible for issues such as curriculum, exams and monitoring student progress, so I am experienced in identifying areas of need for students and helping them to progress. I have been very successful with exam results, and have enjoyed guiding tutee's through their exam subjects.
I have taught AQA in the main, but have knowledge of OCR and Edexcel. I am also part of the teams of markers for AQA at GCSE, and am a moderator for the Unit 4 coursework with Edexcel. I have knowledge and understanding what exam boards are looking for in response to exam questions and coursework objectives.

I am also working as teaching GCSE English and Functional Skills in English to adults, which I enjoy.

I have been tutoring since Dec 2011, and really enjoy the change from class teaching. I have tutored a wide range of students with a wide range of needs, and have taught to all the exam boards. It is really rewarding to set up individual lessons and focus on exactly what is needed, knowing I can offer help and support to students. I like to be well prepared for individual lessons and to make the most of the time we have to improve techniques, subject knowledge and overall exam grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that what really helps students to progress is an understanding of exam technique. Having knowledge of the subject is important, but knowing how to handle it and use it in an exam situation if key to gaining top grades. I like to adopt a friendly and approachable manner with students to encourage focus and progress. I will go through essays and exam questions to identify areas that could be improved, and suggest ways of improving the use of language to make the most of student's knowledge. Giving feedback for written work is imperative to aid progress and this will take a large role in my tutoring.

Personal Description:
I've recently returned from New Zealand where I spent a year working in a prestigious secondary school. This year fueled my desire to teach. I've completed a BSc in Sport & Exercise Sciences and I'm currently studying part time at masters level. I will start a PGCE in September 2016 and become a PE teacher upon completion.

I want to tutor because it is a great way to gain experience whilst earning some money to pay my way through my studies. I'd also like to help those in a similar situation as I once was, I got little support from my PE teacher during A levels as he focused on the better performers rather than those looking to excel academically. I wasn't able to afford a tutor and got no other help, this led to me failing to achieve my target grade. I'd like to help people achieve their aims and not feel disappointed (and in my case anxious that I might not get into uni) like I did.

My particular area of expertise is the physiology of sport, I've always been fascinated with anatomy and the way the body works. I've gained a lot of experience working in schools and tutoring in recent years and, as such, feel confident in tutoring all areas of PE at GCSE and A level.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching in all tiers of the educational system. This ranges from coaching and PPA cover in primary schools to work and placements in secondary and SEN schools. I also have experience of providing sports science support to semi-professional and university athletes.

I have also gained a lot of one to one tutoring experience within schools and homes helping tutees, including some that had previously failed, to pass at both GCSE and A level.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't think you can describe my approach in one specific way. I think, like all teaching, tutors should adapt the way they teach dependant on the individuals learning style and needs. Therefore the only word I could use is flexible.

Personal Description:
I'm a student at University of Surrey in my second year of veterinary medicine. I'm friendly and approachable, and easy to contact! I'm based in Guildford, and am passionate about my subjects.

At GCSE level I gained 5A*s and 6As; I gained A*s in Biology, Physics, English Literature, Spanish and Maths. I also took Geography, Chemistry, French, I.T., P.E., English Language and Drama, gaining an A grade in all of them. I gained A*AA at A Level in Spanish, Chemistry and Biology respectively.

*PLEASE NOTE: Although I have stated that I am willing to travel 2 miles, I do not currently have a car, so am almost totally reliant on Arriva bus services! This means I may not be able to reach you, but please get in contact and I'll see if I can!*

Teaching Experience:

I've been trusted to mentor younger students in school who are struggling in particular subjects, and have been recommended to other teachers and students too. I hope to gain experience through tutoring in this manner so I can help more students gain better grades.

I have tutored GCSE triple science and maths for a short period in the past and really enjoyed teaching and finding methods that work for the student.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a relaxed approach to teaching and hope to inspire tutees to take interest in what they're learning through my own enthusiasm. I understand what they're going through, having been through it recently, and hope to give them the time and one-on-one attention they need.

Teaching Experience:

EXPERIENCE

- Teaching Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Business Studies/Management, Computing and Electronics

- Taught over 75 diverse students since 2009, usually for several months, providing support to students consistently through the academic year

- Experienced in tutoring degree level students

- Conducted remedial classes to Business Management undergraduates at the University of Cambridge

- Guided university level students in preparing first class coursework assignments and final year dissertations under tight deadlines

- Successfully supported two students in preparing for their Oxford University entrance exams

- Coached a student for his Imperial College London interview for Mechanical Engineering (MEng Mech Eng)

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"Umer explains things in a clear and concise manner and has made learning Physics ever so fun for me. He is punctual and continuously tailors his teaching style to suit the needs of the student he is teaching." - Kalpna, A2 Mathematics

"More often that not, students spend a considerable time studying unimportant things. Umer has the ability to channel the effort of his students in the right direction, resulting in effective exam preparation. If it wasn't for him, my son wouldn't have scored so well in his exams." - Carlos, A2 Mathematics, A2 Physics

"Umer often uses visual aids to explain abstract concepts. He takes time to understand the interests of his tutees and then uses something of their interest to explain complex phenomenon to them. This really keeps the child motivated and involved. Hats off to his teaching style." - Roma, AS Physics

"Umer has tutored me from grade 8 through to A level. He is knowledgeable, reliable, patient and always polite. He constantly maintains a positive approach and encourages me even when I perform badly. He also helps me organise my study schedule and remained a great source of motivation for me. I would blindly recommend him to anyone!". - Basa, Mathematics (grade 8, GCSE, AS, A2)

Tutoring Approach:

- The underlying factor for my success is my ability to change my style of teaching according to each student's ability

- I provide practical and lively examples to explain concepts in Maths, Physics and Chemistry

- I guide my students towards obtaining correct answers with a series of well-placed questions rather than providing them with information to `rote learn`

- Tipping exam questions is a common practice and I can do this nearer to exam period

- I am very patient and endeavour to remove the abstraction in mathematical concepts through simplification of seemingly complex procedures

- I am a strong believer in building a good relationship with my students

- I tend to focus on harder exam questions early on so that students are not overwhelmed with them nearer to exam time

- Providing students with visual representations in science works wonders in establishing their concepts

- Asking students to teach back what I taught them some weeks ago also helps in improving their communications skills besides serving as a revision tool

- Providing students a clear mental image of the process being taught when teaching sciences. For instance, explaining the concept of electric current by modelling it as a flow of water

Personal Description:
I have recently left university with a 1st Class Honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Warwick and a Distinction the MSc in Financial Mathematics from the London School of Economics. Having worked for the past year within the financial services sector I will be applying for Phd programmes in pure mathematics and consequently will be in Bury St Edmunds for 3 months (Oct 2015 - Dec 2015). I live in the centre of Bury and will be available at most times for teaching A-Level Mathematics/Further Mathematics (acheived an A* in both back in 2010 from the Edexcel board), University entrance exams (AEA/STEP - Achieved a distinction and S 1 in Step 1/2) and A-Level Physics (also A*). I have experience tutoring both A-Level and University level mathematics before through various tutoring website and can supply references. I also have experience teaching 1st year students at the University of Warwick through a teaching assistant position.

Teaching Experience:

Tutored a number of A-Level students and a couple of University students in Mathematics through various tutoring websites and some references. This was done whilst I was studying at Warwick and LSE. Good knowledge of university application processes and entrance exams needed for Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is always to provide an intuitive understanding of how mathematics work, mainly through examples and derivations which directly apply to exam questions and may provide good background for further study at university. I am adaptable to different skill levels and needs and have experience teaching students from A/A* level to C grade.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying my second year of A-Levels at The Liverpool Blue Coat School. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and believe I have a friendly, approaching personality which makes me able to communicate with children of all ages. In my free time I enjoy playing hockey and attend Ancient Greek lessons. In the future I aim to study maths at university.

Teaching Experience:

In recent years, I have delivered a maths lesson to a year 8 class, which proved to be very enjoyable for both the students and I. I deliver weekly lessons to year 7s at Blue Coat and I am currently tutoring year 11 latin students in preparation for their latin GCSE. As well as this, I have a younger sister who I regularly help with homework. I am also currently tutoring several students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to success for anything in life is
1) to have the necessary knowledge
2) to know your own personal weaknesses and also knowing how to go about fixing them
3) to have self-belief and confidence about whether you can succeed
I am here to provide a positive environment for students so that no question is a stupid question and to help students achieve their very best potential. Unfortunately in schools nowadays, teachers may not have the time to check that every single individual student understands everything they have been taught so I am able to teach and revise 'fuzzy' areas so that students feel both confident walking into an exam and knowing they have tried their very best to reach their potential. The most rewarding thing about being a tutor is seeing students' self-satisfaction and personal development.
