I enjoy seeing my pupils make rapid progress and achieving academic success.

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in Entrance Examinations at 7+ and 11+, SEN and tuition for pupils who lack confidence and skills and need support to improve. I have vast experience teaching within excellent local schools and I am currently a Headteacher in a large Junior School. I teach children on a 1-2-1 basis to ensure that they receive the additional input that they need in order to achieve. I specialise in assisting children who lack confidence in specific areas and I am able to assist these children in improving their skill levels within their own school. I can provide excellent references on request from many happy pupils and parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and understanding tutor with the ability to communicate effectively with both adults and children. My aim is to ensure that pupils develop additional skills and increased confidence in their studies. Teaching Experience:
Since I have been a student all my life so did not get a chance to tutor. However I have experience to work with young people as a "Tutor" in the state run TRIO program in USA. This job has given me a clear understanding and significance of a good education, promoting effective learning, teaching and personal development. This first hand skill of working with children of school age has made me patient, tolerant and has also given me an ability to respond positively to special educational needs. Having this experience would definitely facilitate me to translate my knowledge better to pupils and that surely would aid them to understand the basic concepts.

I have taught the undergrads in Virginia State University, USA under the state run TRIO program

Tutoring Approach:

open to new ideas, initiator, like the tutee to solve the problem himself, but be a good guide,I believe in teaching patiently and with dedication. My approach to teaching is straightforward and begins with generating questions and curiosity within young people's minds so that they can think well.

Personal Description:
I am a teacher of exceptional qualifications and experience, acquired in both Bulgaria and the UK. My 5-year MA degree (English Philology, comprising of English and American Studies, Applied Linguistics and Theory and Practice of Translation, Grade 2:1) has provided me with a thorough and solid theoretical basis in all aspects of English. It includes a teaching qualification up to Level 7/8, validated as a full UK QTS by the GTC for England. I have also completed a second degree (with 1st class Hon.) and obtained a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults.

I am qualified and experienced to teach pupils from primary school to university (post-graduate) level as following:

- 11+ EXTRANCE EXAM FOR GRAMMAR AND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL EXAM PREPARATION - READING COMPREHENSION, MATHEMATICS, VERBAL REASONING AND NON-VERBAL REASONING, ESSAY COMPOSITION AND LITERARY TEXT ANALYSIS - FROM AGE 7+
- primary school: English, Maths, basic literacy and numeracy skills - KS1 and 2 Maths and English
- secondary school: English Language, English Literature, GCSE English Language and Literature, KS3 and 4
- A-level English Language and Literature - KS 5
- ESOL - all levels
- Citizenship - Life in the UK test
- IELTS - all levels
- English for Academic Purposes and proofreading FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS (academic writing skills, essays, reports, dissertations, projects) - undergraduates and post-graduates
- proofreading of academic assignments (essays, reports, dissertations, projects) - foundation, undergraduates and post-graduates
- help with writing academic assignments (essays, reports, dissertations, projects) - foundation, undergraduates and post-graduates
- Bulgarian language - all levels
- Russian language - basic level

Teaching Experience:

I have been employed as a PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER (ENGLISH), 11+ GRAMMAR SCHOOL EXAMS TUTOR AND ASSESSOR, MATHS TUTOR (PRIMARY SCHOOL, KS 1 AND 2), EAP, Business, IELTS, ESOL and English Language and Literature teacher and have worked at universities, colleges and schools across two countries. My experience teaching at four universities, and supporting children in schools and adults has helped me become an exceptionally versatile teacher.

I HAVE A VERY FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING APPROACH, SHOWING UNDERSTANDING TO EACH STUDENT'S INDIVIDUAL NEEDS AND PREFERENCES AND TRY TO PERSONALISE LEARNING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. STUDENTS WARM TO ME QUICKLY AND ESTABLISH A GOOD RAPPORT FOR EFFECTIVE COOPERATION.

I have a proven record of tutoring students for a successful performance at the 11+ ENTRANCE EXAMINATION AND SUCCESSFUL ADMISSION AT GRAMMAR OR INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS.

All my primary school tutees have achieved their individual targets (whether improving basic literacy skills, or advancing in their level of reading or writing). The same success has been achieved in Mathematics.

My GCSE and A-level English pupils achieved 100% A-grades in their exams (both English Language and Literature).

I have tutored successfully for the Citizenship/Life in the UK test. I have the latest information of the test changes (from 2014). All my tutees have passed the Life in the UK test.

With university students I have expertise teaching the following academic skills:

structuring academic essays, implementing skills of cohesion and coherence and using the appropriate subject-related style
paraphrasing and summarising texts and applying correct grammar and suitable register in writing
using quotations and in-text citations and referencing them accordingly
delivering a presentation on a subject-specific topic, using Microsoft Powerpoint for effect
demonstrating understanding of key concepts and inferring the meaning of unfamiliar words from the context
developing speaking and seminar skills, useful for active participation in discussions and debates in the classroom and outside
interpreting numerical, statistical and financial data orally and in writing
demonstrating a clear understanding of what constitutes plagiarism and how to use the Harvard Referencing system for citation and the production of Reference Lists

At the academic skills pre-sessional courses at the University of Birmingham in 2012-2016 I gained even deeper experience supporting individual students with writing within very constrained time-limits. I guided all to success at their final assessments. I have had very positive feedback and comments of appreciation.

I have taught in various set-ups - whole class, pair work, group work, or one-to-one sessions. I am deeply interested in each student's individual learning needs and progress and one of my major strengths is differentiation. I sometimes prepare material at 4 levels of differentiation for a single class or small group. I use supportive strategies to boost students' confidence, at the same time challenging learners to achieve beyond their own expectations. I approach intense 1-to-1 sessions with the appropriate dynamics.

I am prepared to go beyond my 'job description' duties to help students with 'special needs'. I am interested in their individual circumstances and take them into account, where appropriate. I prepare resources to address their personal needs and interests. I review their progress and involve them in self-assessment towards autonomy of learning. I am familiar with the 'Assessment for Learning' policy and competent with implementing it widely.

I have worked successfully with students with dyslexia. At secondary school, one of my 'high-ability' dyslexic students scored an 'A' grade at her English GCSE, while another participated in a poetry competition. I have had success teaching students with autism and Asperger's as well.

I invest all of myself in my teaching. I am a highly trusted professional and have an exceptional rapport with my students. I am often quoted as a preferred tutor, who 'has the best way of explaining things' and 'is very patient, friendly and cheerful'. All students of mine - regardless whether at school, college or university - progressed by at least one level (even at short-term courses). A student with a debilitating illness on the BME, predicted to fail the course, not only passed it under my guidance, but achieved grades higher than his required level. In my 15-year teaching career I have never failed a student. I have achieved outstanding results at OFSTED observations. My latest annual lesson observation at BMETC was graded 'OUTSTANDING' and so was my performance at NAVITAS earlier this year. Another observation at BCU was unofficially deemed as 'the best on the course'. I have been invited to share exceptional ideas at training events and have also participated in numerous training activities at schools, colleges and universities. I often opt to peer-observe colleagues, to learn from their teaching styles.

Some more examples from my practice: a class of illiterate Yemeni housewives at BMETC, 2011, achieved a 100% pass at their ESOL exams, while 'advanced' international students at the BME, 2012 achieved some of the highest grades on the course. I have been successful dealing with pupils with behavioural problems at Harborne Hill School. Many reported an increasingly positive attitude to learning. I am a creative teacher and try to interest and enthuse students, so that they enjoy learning and celebrate their achievements.

Tutoring Approach:

First I negotiate the times and modes of tutoring with the parents of my potential pupil and agree on fees.
Then I organise a free initial meeting with the pupil and their parents, where I try to establish raport with the pupil. It is important, especially for children, to 'get a feel' of the new tutor and see if they can feel comfortable with her.
Then I try to access as much information as possible from the parents and the child about their progress at school and their attitude to school. If possible, I wish to see samples of the child's school work, or hear anything teachers have said/written about their progress.
During the first lesson I conduct an informal assessment of the pupil's skills - give them a piece of text to read, or free writing or short composition, or a selection of Maths problems to solve. When I get a clear picture of where my pupil stands with a certain skill, I create a short-term plan of work with them. I normally bring materials with me and do not ask parents to buy additional materials. If the parent wishes me to follow a certain self- help book, I am happy to oblige.
I update parents regularly of their child's progress - I try to do it after every lesson. I normally leave homework, designed to consolidate the material covered in the lesson, or develop their skills further. I wish parents to be involved as much as possible with helping or monitoring the completion of the homework.
I try to show my pupils as much respect as possible and affirm them as individuals. I acknowledge their birthdays, Christmas, or other family celebrations.
The parents can terminate the service at any time, with only one week notice.
I OFFER LESSONS VIA SKYPE AS WELL.

Personal Description:
I am have graduated with a First Class degree Actuarial Science at London School of Economics.
I have achieved A*A*A*A in my recent A Level results and have also represented my country in various mathematics competition which include me winning an Honourable Mention in Asia Pacific Mathematics Olympiad.
Have also achieved Gold Medal in National Physics Competition in my country.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously volunteered with the Salvation Army and had taught GCSE students over there. Overall it went quite well and I saw improvement in their ability to answer questions and attitude towards the subject.
I have also been an assistant Mathematics Olympiad coach. This job required me to lecture some of the best students in Malaysia so that they can score well in national competitions.
Thus, I believe I am able to teach students of different abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I usually start with the basics. I believe that with a good basic, the student would then be able to improve him/herself to be better instead of just idly solving a question and showing the steps to the student.
Also, I would try to include real life application if its possible so that the student remain interested and understand more about the things being studied.

Personal Description:
I am Yifen. I have gained excellent teaching experience of Chinese at all levels and in Maths (From KS1 up to GCSE). I received positive feedback from my previous students and gained credits to my patience, explicit express and responsibility. I have got a degree of PhD at the School of Education at the University of Manchester in 2015. I have been appointed as a governor in a primary school in York.
Regarding my personality, I am a very easygoing person, kindly and also with a high sense of responsibility. I have been living in the UK since 2010. I have stayed in places covered students of all creeds and ethnic backgrounds. I have gained significant experience of working in the international culture. I appreciate and respect individual differences.

I like travelling and experiencing different things. I have visited a few places, such as European countries (England, Scotland, Welsh, Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Iceland and Greenland), Africa (Cameroon), South Korea, Hongkong and Marco. I love sports, especially, swimming, yoga, cycling, hiking and horse riding.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Mandarin (online and face -to-face) to non-native English speakers with a wide range of ages at all levels both in China and in the UK for about 10 years. This deeply developed my valuable knowledge of quality teaching and meeting the student's individual needs. I have gained valuable teaching experience from helping in the primary school including the Nursery in York. I have been supporting the adult with a learning difficulty (e.g. dyslexia) in York Learning since January 2015.

I am a free-lance mandarin teacher and have been working with some language organisations, such as Cactus Language Training since 2012. I am also an interpreter/translator. With more than 10 years of both written and spoken translation experience and a first degree in the English language, I have obtained valuable oral experience as a translator in a range of sections from business (e.g.2010 EXPO Shanghai) to Education (translating the articles and interpreting at the international conferences).

Achievement:
My students enjoyed the lessons and have successfully achieved their goals. For instance, a girl achieved A* in GCSE Chinese Mandarin with my help in 2015 and two others recently passed HSK2 successfully.

Tutoring Approach:

I take all efforts to prepare lessons to meet the students' individual needs. I try my best to create a comfortable learning environment, which I think a good atmosphere is very important to learn a language and to encourage learners to open their mouth and speak. Lessons will be prepared. There will be some prepared funny stories or other materials during the lessons. So you can learn mandarin and have fun here!
My understanding is a good teacher is to be responsible for the students and to meet students' needs. My working experiences have ascertained my belief that it is essential to teach the students in front of you rather than the book. I endeavour to be the best listener and observe and identify the problems occurring during the lessons. It helps me to work out the solution and develop your potential at maximum.

If you feel a bit struggling with or tired of learning Mandarin on your own, I would encourage you to come to me and work together to achieve your goal efficiently.

There are some textbooks I have been using for the learners, such as:
Confidence Chinese Vol. Getting Started
Confidence Chinese Vol2. Living in China
Chinese Made Easy Book1, 2 and 3.
Standard Course HSK
Edexcel Chinese for AS
Edexcel Chinese for A2
Chinese Made Easy for Kids.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher of both classics and modern languages, and have taught in a variety of secondary schools. I have stopped classroom teaching now because of the demands of a young family but I am keen to carry on teaching in a different capacity. I am passionate about languages, words and communication and love to share this with others. I have lived abroad for prolonged periods in France and Italy, and travel to see friends there whenever possible.

Teaching Experience:

Since completing my PGCE in 1992 I have taught Latin, Greek, French and Italian, from beginners to A level and Oxbridge, in secondary schools, both private and state. More recently I have been giving private lessons to both adults and teenagers.
***PLEASE NOTE THAT I TEACH ANCIENT GREEK, NOT MODERN! The UK tutors website does not give Ancient Greek as an option in the drop down list. I am not able to teach modern Greek.

Tutoring Approach:

Successful language teaching should combine a fun approach using oral practice including song lyrics and games with a more structured approach to grammar; this gives the student confidence that they really understand the language used. The advantage of private lessons is that I can focus on what the individual learner wants, which might be lots of oral practice to become more proficient at speaking, or to pass a specific exam. I do like to set homework from week to week as this is an important part of progress; but it is not compulsory!

Personal Description:
My name is Andrew and I currently live in Fleet, Hampshire. I studied Fine Art up until degree level which I accomplished a 1st class BA Hons Degree in Fine Art. I paint mostly portraiture in a hyper-realistic fashion however I have also experimented with many different and expressive styles of art work, as well as sole abstract work.

Teaching Experience:

I currently work for the Meath Epilepsy trust in Godalming where I teach as an observational and technical instructor for the mental health adult clients who live there. There I work closely with the students building up their personal portfolio in their art work consisting of painting, drawing, charcoal and pastel mark making equipment.

I also teach privately and run art workshops in my spare time in which I teach mature students art techniques in drawing and painting. My main qualities in teaching come from portraiture and painting with acrylic and oil paint.

Recently I have completed the PTLLS teaching training course and wish to continue my studies in teaching within the near future.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that teaching is about personal connection with your students and interacting with them on their level rather than simply 'getting the job done'. I can teach someone how to do something and for them to copy my influence is something, however to teach someone to do it themselves without aid takes time to practice over and over certain techniques. I think a student should be taught from the ground upwards and to slowly neglect bad habits from the past. The student then can become versatile and highly skilled and more importantly 'satisfied' with their work and practice.
I teach my students by constantly reminding them of basic principles of drawing/painting techniques and methods for which the student automatically revises their own work and own mistakes alone.

I teach a range of techniques in my art lessons such as palette knife, paint brush techniques and technical sketching methods. I also instruct with a diverse variety of mediums such as pastel, charcoal, ink, pencil and paint such as acrylic and oil.

Teaching Experience:

I taught English to high school students for one year in France.
In a night school in Utah (USA) I taught English as a second language to adults.
I have taught music (guitar, ukulele and piano) for nearly 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in student-centred teaching, so rather than impose strict rules I approach each student as an individual in order to find the best approach for gaining skills and confidence in the subject. Structure is also important, however, and it's important to use exercises and repetition to really come to terms with a subject. Games and songs have their place, too; let's have fun while we're learning!

Personal Description:
I want to motivate and empower my pupils to help them become the best that they can be. After five years working in various financial analysis roles across London, I have spent the last two years working for myself as a consultant for charities, Escape Room owners and creative entrepreneurs and as a tutor as well. I enjoy any opportunities to help others achieve their goals.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring University students and adults in business subjects and Microsoft Excel for the past four years whilst working in Finance. Prior experience has also included children of ages 5-12 in groups and 1-1 tutoring at ages: 5-8 (for Maths and English) and 10 (for 11+ exams). Over the past year, I have taken on two students: an adult Saudi taking her Masters in Business and a 10 year old Lithuanian to whom I have been teaching English, Maths and interconnecting it with his interest in game design.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my tuition largely to the needs of the student, depending on their requirements and working style. However, my preferred method is to split each session into covering material being learned at school and taking short practice tests to assess weak areas and revise for exams. While tutoring to any required curricula I will also try to instil the love of a subject into a student by guiding them to other fascinating areas of the subject and discovering areas of interests to support the subject's framework.

Personal Description:
I have a First Class BEd (Hons) degree from The University of Glasgow and am a fully qualified and experienced primary school teacher.

Throughout my educational career I have been a top academic performer. I was the dux in my fifth year of secondary school for achieving top marks in my Standard Grade and Higher examinations. In the same year I was awarded the French and History prizes and I received the Spanish prize in my sixth year. During my time at secondary school I was awarded a certificate of distinction every year. I was also a prefect and achieved perfect attendance.

I am young, friendly and approachable and believe these qualities will help me to successfully engage with students and help them achieve their full potential. I am a creative and hardworking individual who always strives to be the best at what I do.

Teaching Experience:

I have four years of experience as a primary school teacher in Scotland and thus have in-depth knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence. Over the past four years I have planned, implemented and assessed learning across all subject areas of the curriculum.

Throughout my time at university and my time spent working as a teacher I have had experience working with pupils across a range of ages and stages. I have a great deal of experience working with children in a variety of contexts including large groups, small groups and one to one. I have taught pupils with additional support needs as well as highly able pupils and know how to cater to each individual's needs in order to help them achieve their best work.

In my final year of secondary school I was part of a working group in which I helped tutor younger pupils who required additional support in English on a one to one basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutoring should be delivered in a fun and relaxed style, while still being informative and academic. I feel that this approach to tutoring allows students to gain the most out of their experience. I like to build positive relationships with students and feel that my open and approachable personality allows me to do this. In this way I feel that I can put students at ease and eliminate the pressure that many young people experience in large class scenarios. I find that students tend to perform to the best of their abilities when they feel comfortable and when they feel that they are not under pressure.

I believe in allowing students to lead their own learning. I will always ask for students' input and take this on board to inform future tuition. I adapt my pace to suit the student's needs and always ensure that they are secure in one aspect of learning before moving on to the next. I will vary the format of lessons depending on what the learner needs at the particular time. Lessons may take the form of lectures, question and answer sessions, or sessions providing feedback on pieces of work which I, or the student's teacher, have set.
