Personal Description:
I am 37 years old and qualified as a Teacher in 2006. I consider myself a friendly and approachable person and I like to take an interest in the people around me. I have lived in several Cities in the UK (North and South) and therefore have a diverse and dispersed group of friends. I have always enjoyed learning and working with young people as I enjoy seeing the spark, energy and potential they have. I am interested in Football and until recently played regularly.

Teaching Experience:

I am the Head of Economics at LVS Ascot and I have spent the last 10 years working successfully in Schools such as St Lukes Science and Sports College in Exeter, The Ridings High School in South Gloucestershire and St Josephs Catholic School in Slough. I have consistently achieved good results with my pupils. I have designed hundreds of resources for my subject that enable students to work towards the criteria set down by exam boards at both GCSE and A' Level. I have extensive knowledge of the AQA and Edexcel courses and exam technique for A2. I have been an examiner for A Level Economics for 4 Years and I currently mark for both the Edexcel and AQA exam boards. This has given me an insight into how exam papers are marked and how students can be prepared for these papers.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to give a clear structure structure to work towards a qualification giving students clear instructions on exactly what they need to include in examinations or coursework. I look to build strong personal relationships with my pupils reinforcing confidence to attempt difficult task and changing my teaching to meet the learning needs of individuals. As a tutor I will make sure I am avaiable contact by you during every evening to monitor and assess your work and deal with any problems you may come across. I provide detailed feedback on what you need to do to reach the higher grades and will point you towards the information you need to do well in Business studies or Economics.

Personal Description:
I am a very experienced teacher, head of faculty, head of sixth form, examiner and writer. I have recently worked for one of the major examination boards on the new specifications for both G.C.S. E and A2 Level.

During my career as a teacher I have taught philosophy and religious studies to Advanced level and English, history, religious studies, geography and citizenship to G.C.S.E. I also specialise in developing study skills and examination techniques in a range of subjects. I have prepared VI form students for university and UCAS application, including Oxbridge, and acted as a mentor to new entrants to the teaching profession.

I am a freelance writer specialising in education, social, religious and moral issues and I also create e-learning resources for an international educational e-learning-platform provider.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience at both G.C.S.E. and Advanced level has been extensive. I am an examiner for two major exam boards and have diverse experience of creating original teaching resources tailored to the needs of pupils.

I have spent most of my career teaching across the ability and age range in 11-18 comprehensive schools although I have also taught in the independent sector.

I am also a part-time on-line tutor for one of the Oxford colleges.

I have also served on several different boards of governors as a foundation, teacher and parent governor.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the key to success for most pupils is to develop their skills and self-confidence to enhance their ability to successfully complete their examination by developing study skills and examination techniques.

My first session with a tutee and their parents is to establish their needs and goals. Together we draw up a plan of the work which we will pursue. This plan will be reviewed regularly and a progress report compiled.

Each of the subsequent sessions comprises of:
review of any homework set
review of any problems which have occurred that week
lesson on a topic previously decided upon
My primary aim is to help my tutees overcome any difficulties which they are having with their work and to help them to achieve their goals both in the short-term and the long term. Secondly, I aim to give my tutees confidence in their own abilities and to help them develop their skills necessary to succeed in their examinations.
Relevant homework is set as a means of reinforcing the development of skills since assessment and feedback procedures largely rely on this.

Personal Description:
I am a reliable and patient person with a likeable personality who relates well to both children and adults. I am conscientious and will discuss all matters with the parents/adult student at home in an informal chat before commencing any teaching sessions. I have a current CRB and I always have a file with this and my qualifications for you to inspect prior to beginning teaching with you. I have a number of private pupils in Stockton, Billingham, Redcar and Middlesbrough, whose parents are more than happy to provide a reference if required.

In 2006 I was one of ten finalists in a national teaching award - QIA STAR Awards.

I have an office in the Elmwood Centre but I also travel around the Cleveland area on some days of the week. This can be by arrangement.

Teaching Experience:

I have 24 years teaching experience, with the last fifteen years teaching English, literacy and creative writing; also, six of the last fifteen years teaching numeracy/maths and ESOL. I have experience in teaching both children and adults, and teaching English to people who are learning English as a second language.

My experience is both classroom based and one-to-one teaching. In addition to being qualified in English, Creative Writing, Maths and ESOL, I am also qualified in supporting learners with dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make learning fun, as I believe this will develop a love of learning which will last into adulthood. I use multi-sensory resources, as well as a computer, to enable students to grasp the necessary basic rules of literacy and numeracy. For younger children I will often make, or bring a game that will have a serious learning point to it, although the children do not always realise this.

I am patient and allow all learners to develop their understanding and confidence in literacy and numeracy by giving them time for questions, explanation and discussion. I also believe that giving praise to someone for trying to answer, even if the answer is incorrect, is really important - the fact they have tried means they are willing to learn - this is the one key requirement to building knowledge and confidence in any subject.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher of both classics and modern languages, and have taught in a variety of secondary schools. I have stopped classroom teaching now because of the demands of a young family but I am keen to carry on teaching in a different capacity. I am passionate about languages, words and communication and love to share this with others. I have lived abroad for prolonged periods in France and Italy, and travel to see friends there whenever possible.

Teaching Experience:

Since completing my PGCE in 1992 I have taught Latin, Greek, French and Italian, from beginners to A level and Oxbridge, in secondary schools, both private and state. More recently I have been giving private lessons to both adults and teenagers.
***PLEASE NOTE THAT I TEACH ANCIENT GREEK, NOT MODERN! The UK tutors website does not give Ancient Greek as an option in the drop down list. I am not able to teach modern Greek.

Tutoring Approach:

Successful language teaching should combine a fun approach using oral practice including song lyrics and games with a more structured approach to grammar; this gives the student confidence that they really understand the language used. The advantage of private lessons is that I can focus on what the individual learner wants, which might be lots of oral practice to become more proficient at speaking, or to pass a specific exam. I do like to set homework from week to week as this is an important part of progress; but it is not compulsory!

Personal Description:
I am a full time professional tutor, ex-University Lecturer from the University of Nottingham and the immediate past Vice-President of the Tutors' Association.

I hold a PhD from Imperial College London and have a strong academic track record having previously led cutting-edge industrial and academic research in science and statistics. My scientific research has been published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals and my work has been cited almost 2000 times within the scientific literature. Whilst I am now a full time tutor, I also remain research active. I serve on the Editorial Boards of four international journals and still co-author research publications. This means my knowledge is not purely book-based, but founded on an extensive background as a successful female scientist.

I enjoy working with students of varying ages and abilities and take pride in encouraging students to reach their full potential. I am patient and understanding in my approach, which I will adapt to meet the strengths and needs of individual learners. I have an up-to- date knowledge of the national curriculum, enabling me to teach biology, chemistry, physics and maths at GCSE level and above.

I have years of experience as a tenured University Lecturer where I taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have supervised numerous PhD and MRes students to successful completion of their thesis. Having interviewed numerous UCAS candidates for degree places, I can also offer advice to hone your personal statement.

Teaching Experience:

I am a full-time professional tutor and have seven years experience in private tuition.

I am the immediate past Vice-President of The Tutor's Association (2015-2016), the professional body representing the tuition industry. As a member of the Tutors Association, I have also signed up to their code of ethics, code of conduct and my qualifications, references, experience and DBS have been externally checked and verified.

I was a Lecturer at the University of Nottingham for nearly a decade where I also sat on the University examination board for the award of the undergraduate pharmacy degree (MPharm). I am now a full-time personal tutor with five years experience and over 100 GB of teaching resources which I use to support my teaching.

I also have also taught in school at secondary level. I am familiar with all the major examination boards (AQA, OCR, EdExcel, IB). I have worked with children who are gifted and talented and with special educational needs such as Asperger Syndrome, autism, ADHD, partial hearing and dyslexia. Having lived and worked abroad for a number of years, I also have experience of working with students for whom English is an additional language.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in taking a very individual approach to tutoring, adapting approaches and resources to fit the needs of the individual. Prior to commencing tuition, we will agree tuition goals and I will work with these to develop a personalized scheme of learning. During tuition I will monitor student progress and keep records of this so that learning and attainment can be tracked and approaches can be continually adapted to meet the developing needs of the learner. However, most importantly of all, I believe learning should be fun. I am friendly and approachable and I work hard to ensure that students enjoy having tuition, which ultimately will maximise the progress they make.

A 5% discount is offered to all students paying monthly in advance.

Teaching Experience:

I've been trusted to mentor younger students in school who are struggling in particular subjects, and have been recommended to other teachers and students too. I hope to gain experience through tutoring in this manner so I can help more students gain better grades.

I have tutored GCSE triple science and maths for a short period in the past and really enjoyed teaching and finding methods that work for the student.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a relaxed approach to teaching and hope to inspire tutees to take interest in what they're learning through my own enthusiasm. I understand what they're going through, having been through it recently, and hope to give them the time and one-on-one attention they need.

Personal Description:
I hold a BA hons in History and Masters degree (distinction) in History and Politics from the University of Exeter. I was graded outstanding for my PGCE in Secondary History. I continued this onto Masters Level, completing my MEd ln 2011.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a selective boys grammar school in Devon, where I worked in a thriving History and Politics department (ranked among the top 10 of History and Politics departments nationally according to GCSE and A Level exam results). I then moved to the North West to teach History and Politics to A Level at a prestigious independent dayschool. I have recently returned to Devon to teach at a similarly excellent and high performing independent school where I teach English. I have taught a range of exam modules including Henry VIII; Crime and Punishment; the Modern World; 20th Century America: Vietnam War; 20th Century Germany and the Cold War. I am an experienced marker for various examination boards for several exam boards including Edexcel, AQA and Cambridge IGCSE. I am well versed in exam technique (both old and new specifications). As such, I am able to offer an insight into what examiners are looking for in GCSE, AS and A2 exam responses.

Tutoring Approach:

I work to instill a genuine enthusiasm for History, Politics, and English as well as developing a sound understanding of the topics covered during tutoring. I use and prepare engaging resources as well as a diverse range of teaching methods, which enable students to learn both the content and the skills needed to succeed in their examinations. It is my belief that tutoring sessions should not just involve the regurgitation of facts on the part of the student; rather, it should empower students with the confidence and knowledge they need to secure the grades they're capable of.

I tailor my sessions to best fit the needs of the students; whether that is through honing exam technique, or gaining an in depth understanding of the course content. I am able to target my sessions to suit all levels of ability.

Personal Description:
A first year Oxford Double Degree History student and double academic and music scholar. I was taught music at the Royal College of Music for over a decade. I am hard working, diligent and will always put my students first.

Teaching Experience:

Experience mainly tutoring younger children, but have done small ad-hoc pro bono tutoring sessions for older children. I specialise in both English and History tutoring, and I can tutor any book or any period for you child. Maths I will be willing to tutor up to GCSE at the most, given the board, and my music and sociology tutoring information can be provided at further request.

Tutoring Approach:

I specialise at being able to tutor online: I feel this means students can maintain studying in an environment they feel comfortable in. Another benefit is that I can document all tutoring sessions - part of me services mean that I will copy up transcripts of all the sessions for both you and your child - this means you do not need to worry about sessions being missed. To ensure you get the most out of my time, I offer my services in blocks of 5 or 10: this means that I can thoroughly cover subjects. For example, if you require emergency tutoring with a book, 5 sessions would enable me to efficiently cram topics, whilst 10 would enable me to go through this more thoroughly with you or your child. How I tailor your blocks of 5 or 10 can be discussed between both you, me, and your child. For documentation purposes, I believe typing during the online sessions can be maximally beneficial: both the child can see what i'm writing, whilst you as the parents can see exactly what is being discussed. However, if you would like me to use voice calling as well as video calling, this is no problem either.

Personal Description:
I'm a student heading to The Queens College, Oxford in 2017 to study Classics with an emphasis on Philosophy, my main area of interest. Im the oldest of five children and generally a very patient, bookish person who tends to get on with people well. Throughout my schooling I was told that my goals were unachieveable because of dyslexia, and I have worked hard to prove that to be false, so I am dedicated to helping others when ordinary schooling isn't quite enough - be that to push an A to an A* or pass an exam or just improve skills in any given area.
Outside academics, I play the piano and enjoy spending time with my family and my dogs.

Teaching Experience:

During school I took part in several different tutoring programmes; teaching science master classes to underprivileged 4-8 year olds, tutoring for the 11+ and CE exams, tutoring for GCSE level students in Maths, all three sciences, English, and religious studies, and tutoring fellow AS and A Level students during sixth form. These have ranged from people who want extra revision and marked work before exams to people who are struggling and retaking exams multiple times, to people who are just learning English. In total I have around 150-200 hours of tutoring experience.

I've worked with many people with learning difficulties and disabilities, and am very experienced in finding ways to help people learn and revise. Often people with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and other learning difficulties struggle to learn in conventional ways, and having had to be unconventional myself, I'm committed to helping people learn in ways which work well for them. One of my brothers is Autistic and non verbal, and I work with him using his special interests to make the subject engaging and working with text and images.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is centred around the premise that every person learns in a different way, and every person deserves to fulfill their goals and potential.

When tutoring younger children, I make learning fun through games and grounding the work in their interests; for example, when I was teaching English as a foreign language to 4 year old twins, we played games like hide and seek and football, where they would win if they used the right English words.

Of course, every subject requires a different kind of teaching; English language gcse can be practiced with excerpts from students favourite books or writing about favourite tv shows, whereas psychology A Level is largely about evaluative skills, so critical conversations about theories and studies are key. Each subject cultivates specific skill sets, and I aim to work with students on their own weaknesses and help them perfect their strengths; I will mark work and discuss it with them in depth, create handouts and revision notes with them, and work through papers and questions with them.
