Personal Description:
I am a native English speaker and have been studying languages for 20 years. I have travelled to many countries and experienced many cultures. I know speaking a language fluently is so important to enjoy new experiences. I have a Degree in Linguistics and have been trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL). I have a variety of experiences in teaching, training and tutoring. Although I am originally from Australia I am now based in London. I have spent time learning Russian, Spanish and German, so I know how useful it is to have someone helping continuing to build vocabulary and correct language use. I also know how hard it can be to get started learning a new language. I will be sure to find out what you want to learn and how you enjoy learning the most.

Teaching Experience:

I have a Degree in Applied Linguistics and have been trained in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL). I have a variety of experiences in teaching, training and tutoring in the workplace, in group and one-to-one sessions with both adults and children. Although I am originally from Australia I am now based in Crewe. I have spent time learning Russian, Spanish and German, so I know how useful it is to have someone helping continuing to build vocabulary and correct language use. I also know how hard it can be to get started learning a new language.

Tutoring Approach:

My initial focus will be to spend time finding out what you want to learn and how you enjoy learning the most. My focus will be what you identify as needing help with, as well as giving feedback on how your language skills are progressing. I am most happy providing conversational English practice so that you can improve your skills in interacting with others, either at work, or study or even just travelling with greater ease. I am happy to provide exercises and tasks for you to work on as well as English conversation.
I am happy to meet you wherever is convenient - perhaps a local cafe or library. I can also tutor in my home or yours if that is easier. I am happy to tutor via Skype following a first meeting if travel is an issue.

Personal Description:
I am a well humoured and easy going with a keen interest in Art, Craft and Design who likes to keep up to date with the latest trends in many aspects of design from Jewellery to Furniture. I have a bachelors degree in Silversmithing and Metalwork and am currently working towards a masters degree in Education.

Teaching Experience:

I have just completed my forth full time year in teaching mainstream secondary school Design and Technology. I also have 3 years experience teaching A-level Design and Technology at a large sixth form college and GCSE Design and Technology in a Pupil Referral Unit for boys with behaviour difficulties and SEN (including Aspergers, Autism and Dyslexia.) At the Pupil Referral Unit I also began a morning literacy programme to improve the reading skills of students with primary school level abilities to great success. During my teaching training I also worked in a mainstream secondary school and a grammar school. The majority of my tutoring experience is with Primary age students covering 11+ exam entrance including verbal reasoning, english and maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a pupil focused tutor who believes that a variety of short, varied activities keeps students focused, productive and able to learn more effectively. My experience with SEN students has made me patient and believe that the key to successful tutoring is being well resourced. I undertake a limited amount of tutees in order to ensure increased availability for my tutees and to ensure that I am focused on the individuals I tutor and their needs. Above all I believe the students need constant positive reinforcement to increase motivation, self belief and therefore success.

Personal Description:
I am a student at the University of Bristol and would like to be a french tutor this summer (2013). I am currently on my year abroad in the South of France and on my return in June would like to help young students improve their french. Having studied french for 8 years i am very enthusiastic about the language, but also the culture. I am completely flexible this summer and have a car so would be able to do home tutoring. As i spend most of my time speaking french at the moment it would be a great opportunity to further this hobby in England whilst helping somebody else and hopefully giving them the enthusiasm that i have for the language.

Teaching Experience:

Although i have not got any formal qualifications as a teacher, when studying my A Levels I helped with the younger classes and often help my younger brother with his language revision. I have acquired voluntary work with children for two years as a leader at my local Brownies group, therefore engaging in and leading activities. I would feel comfortable teaching children or adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I am keen to take an approach to tutoring that suits the individual client. I would offer structured lessons with exercises and small tests for those who are preparing for exams. However I would also be happy to tutor somebody who needs to practice their spoken french. In the first lesson we can identify what suits the student best and together choose our method of teaching and learning.

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching Spanish, English and Polish for about 6 years now. I used to teach adults in a Further Education Centre ( Polish and Spanish) and I helped in MFL department in a secondary school in Leeds.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to tailor my lessons to learners' individual needs nad make it fun as it helps memorising new vocabulary. In my opinion learners should be immersed in new language/ culture as much as possible, therefore I always use videos, podcasts, DVDs and try to get my students to speak.

Personal Description:
I've just finished a degree in Film and TV in one of the best Universities in Spain (University of Navarra). I've moved to the UK in July 2014 because I was offered to work as an intern in a modest production company in Marlow, in Buckinghamshire. Since October, I've been living in London studying english so I can pass the exam that will allow me to go to an english University next September.

Teaching Experience:

This would be the first time that I'll be teaching spanish to a kid. Although I've been working for the past month with a little girl. But I can assure that the kids will learn as my classes will not be about studying but about having fun with craft, making recipes, playing games and more.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm a hard-working, trustworthy person that loves to play with kids. My teaching methods will be dynamic, practising essentially with the dialogue and not only with theory. The kids will be learning without even noticing. We'll play games, making recipes, etc.

Personal Description:
I am a Tutor in English for Academic Purposes at a large UK university. In this role I teach both Academic English and General English.

Over the past thirteen years I have taught in the UK, Italy and Libya. I have taught in private schools, state schools and universities. In addition, I have taught students of all levels from beginners to advanced and all ages from 3 to adult.

I am an experienced online tutor with over 250 hours taught via Skype.

Teaching Experience:

Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes at the University of South Wales (5 years)

Teacher Trainer/English Teacher British Council Libya (3 years)

British Institutes Trento, Italy (2 years)

Private tutor in TESOL (2 years)

Cambridge IELTS examiner

Cambridge IGCSE Assistant Examiner

General English, Academic English and English for Specific Purposes (e.g. Business English)

Tutoring British and European History ages 11-18 (UK)

Tutoring Approach:

In teaching English as a foreign language I follow the communicative approach. This means plenty of communication between the student and tutor, rather than spending the whole lesson working through grammar exercises.

My lessons are student centred, which means that each lesson is about the student. My materials are carefully tailored to the individual student and not a 'one text fits all' course book. I try to make my lessons relevant to my student's needs, for example, if you are a chef I base my lessons on cookery; if you work in a shop I base my lessons around retail; and if you are studying for IELTS or residency, I will tutor you for that. Just tell me what you want to do and I will do my very best to help you realise your dream.

Personal Description:
I have just moved from London to Leamington Spa, where I taught English Functional Skills for the London Borough of Waltham Forest for 10 years.

First and foremost, I attempt to create a trusting relationship through empathy and listening skills which enables me to identify the student's needs and to develop strategies to support them. I teach skills to assist the development of independent learning: research, reading and proof reading strategies and writing skills including grammar, spelling and structure.

I believe in the importance of being able to communicate in writing effectively as it is empowering in many ways. It enables us to apply for jobs and perform successfully in jobs as most involve writing in various forms. I have worked in arts administration as a Development Co-ordinator at The Whitechapel Art Gallery where I needed to write letters and brochures persuasively to attract donations and sponsorship of exhibitions. Many job roles involve creating marketing materials as does running your own business. Being able to articulate and write a complaint letter is also empowering. So hi-lighting how necessary writing skills are can help to motivate students.

Also I am passionate about reading fiction, English and foreign literature, as well as poetry and belong to two book clubs. Literature gives us an imaginative insight into other lives, emotions and stories which helps to enrich our own lives. I have enjoyed going to the RSC in Stratford and the live screenings of plays at The Spa Centre. So for me the transformational power of the arts is what gives life meaning.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for 10 years English/Literacy in community centres for Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service and provided 1:1 Dyslexia Support. Most recently I completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Adult Literacy at The Institute of Education, University College London. I have also taught adults with learning difficulties and have supported children with special needs at primary school.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy working on a 1:1 basis with students rather than a classroom situation as I can get to know them more and build up a personal relationship enabling me to understand their needs and design strategies to support them and build up their confidence. I believe that you need to devise with the student their main goals and then break them down into smaller achievable steps and stages.
