At the academic skills pre-sessional courses at the University of Birmingham in 2012-2016 I gained even deeper experience supporting individual students with writing within very constrained time-limits. I guided all to success at their final assessments. I have had very positive feedback and comments of appreciation.

I have taught in various set-ups - whole class, pair work, group work, or one-to-one sessions. I am deeply interested in each student's individual learning needs and progress and one of my major strengths is differentiation. I sometimes prepare material at 4 levels of differentiation for a single class or small group. I use supportive strategies to boost students' confidence, at the same time challenging learners to achieve beyond their own expectations. I approach intense 1-to-1 sessions with the appropriate dynamics.

I am prepared to go beyond my 'job description' duties to help students with 'special needs'. I am interested in their individual circumstances and take them into account, where appropriate. I prepare resources to address their personal needs and interests. I review their progress and involve them in self-assessment towards autonomy of learning. I am familiar with the 'Assessment for Learning' policy and competent with implementing it widely.

I have worked successfully with students with dyslexia. At secondary school, one of my 'high-ability' dyslexic students scored an 'A' grade at her English GCSE, while another participated in a poetry competition. I have had success teaching students with autism and Asperger's as well.

I invest all of myself in my teaching. I am a highly trusted professional and have an exceptional rapport with my students. I am often quoted as a preferred tutor, who 'has the best way of explaining things' and 'is very patient, friendly and cheerful'. All students of mine - regardless whether at school, college or university - progressed by at least one level (even at short-term courses). A student with a debilitating illness on the BME, predicted to fail the course, not only passed it under my guidance, but achieved grades higher than his required level. In my 15-year teaching career I have never failed a student. I have achieved outstanding results at OFSTED observations. My latest annual lesson observation at BMETC was graded 'OUTSTANDING' and so was my performance at NAVITAS earlier this year. Another observation at BCU was unofficially deemed as 'the best on the course'. I have been invited to share exceptional ideas at training events and have also participated in numerous training activities at schools, colleges and universities. I often opt to peer-observe colleagues, to learn from their teaching styles.

Some more examples from my practice: a class of illiterate Yemeni housewives at BMETC, 2011, achieved a 100% pass at their ESOL exams, while 'advanced' international students at the BME, 2012 achieved some of the highest grades on the course. I have been successful dealing with pupils with behavioural problems at Harborne Hill School. Many reported an increasingly positive attitude to learning. I am a creative teacher and try to interest and enthuse students, so that they enjoy learning and celebrate their achievements.

Tutoring Approach:

First I negotiate the times and modes of tutoring with the parents of my potential pupil and agree on fees.
Then I organise a free initial meeting with the pupil and their parents, where I try to establish raport with the pupil. It is important, especially for children, to 'get a feel' of the new tutor and see if they can feel comfortable with her.
Then I try to access as much information as possible from the parents and the child about their progress at school and their attitude to school. If possible, I wish to see samples of the child's school work, or hear anything teachers have said/written about their progress.
During the first lesson I conduct an informal assessment of the pupil's skills - give them a piece of text to read, or free writing or short composition, or a selection of Maths problems to solve. When I get a clear picture of where my pupil stands with a certain skill, I create a short-term plan of work with them. I normally bring materials with me and do not ask parents to buy additional materials. If the parent wishes me to follow a certain self- help book, I am happy to oblige.
I update parents regularly of their child's progress - I try to do it after every lesson. I normally leave homework, designed to consolidate the material covered in the lesson, or develop their skills further. I wish parents to be involved as much as possible with helping or monitoring the completion of the homework.
I try to show my pupils as much respect as possible and affirm them as individuals. I acknowledge their birthdays, Christmas, or other family celebrations.
The parents can terminate the service at any time, with only one week notice.

I was born into a French-speaking family and have spoken French my entire life. I have a BA from the London School of Economics in French and Linguistics. I have also lived in France for several years. I have taught French privately for over 20 years and many of my students achieve very high standards. I am very dedicated to my students and try and get the best out of them and build their confidence. One mother with five children of differing ages from 6 years old to 18, where the children were attending Harrodian in Barnes said that her children told her I "was the best French teacher they ever had" - that works for me! I can turn the most hopeless student in French into a budding linguist.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching privately French for over 20 years from beginners to University students as well as adults has given me a great deal of experience across different goals and varying levels. I teach spoken French for those who only want to simply speak the language as well as grammar for those who need to take exams. I work with University students to achieve top grades in dissertations and essays or oral exams. One of my recent students was told by her lecturers she would get a 3rd in her degree ended up getting a 2:1 - not bad eh? I love French literature so if you are studying a piece of literature, I will be able to guide you through the book. I sing with some of my students as I find singing is a wonderful way of learning a language especially where vocabulary is limited. Other students need to listen to French radio in order to accustom the ear to current spoken language and we work together to understand what is being said. I begin by assessing the pupils strengths and weaknesses and then plan lessons to suit the individuals needs. The most important aspect is for the pupil to enjoy the lesson so learning French is a pleasure and not a chore. My experience with tutoring has varied from one to one sessions, to small classes to assisting with written work online.

I specialise in getting students ready for dreaded exams, preparing them with the forensic knowledge of a text that is required to really succeed. This begins long before the revision process, with homework help and extra work. If you 'learn as you go', things will be much easier later on! I really care for the students I have worked with in the past and believe that everyone has it in them to achieve what they desire with regards to their education.

Equally my work in creative writing provides me with an innovative approach to English for younger students, allowing a more stimulating method of teaching.

Personal Description:
I am a chartered psychologist with over 10 years of experience working in the field of special educational needs. I worked with young adults with life-long developmental disorders such as ASD, Down Syndrome and learning difficulties.
I taught psychology and statistics at a university. I also helped students preparing posters and power point presentations.
I have Bsc in Psychology, MSc in Neuroscience and a PhD in Psychology and a postgraduate certificate in management of learning and teaching. I am also a current member of Higher Education Academy.
I speak English and Turkish.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience of university teaching. I mainly taught broad psychology topics and statistics. I helped students with designing, running psychology experiments, analysing quantative data, essay writing, preparing posters and power point presentations.
I am also certified neurofeedback practitioner (Society of Applied Neuroscience) and I provide neurofeedback sessions.

AS and A level Psychology (AQA)

I help students preparing for AS and A level exams. I cover number of topics including Social Influence, Memory, Attachment, Research Methods, Psychopathology, Cognitive Psychology and Biological Psychology. I help them understand each topic, answer their questions and support them with structuring their answers and essay type questions.


TURKISH TUTORIALS

I teach Turkish at all levels. I am a native speaker. I have 8 years experience of teaching, interpreting, translating Turkish in number of settings varying from hospitals to courts in London. I use student centred approach in my teachings.

I am happy to discuss students needs and questions prior to accepting the tutorials to prevent any inconvenience.

Personal Description:
My wife and I with our one daughter have recently moved to Chorley from Lancaster. I'm a retired medical physicist from South Africa. I know what it is to have to work hard at one's studies when one's natural ability is limited. I love helping people to break through the things that limit them from achieving.

My passion is to be able to help young people prepare to face the challenges of life.

With Judeo-Christian instruction largely removed from schools in the UK there is a great need to encourage more young people in understanding their Christian heritage on which this country has been built. And, so they can build their own lives on a solid foundation of the principal and ethics found in Scriptures.

Teaching Experience:

I have always enjoyed coming alongside young people and helping them come to understand and to apply this understanding to practical situations. That said, I have had limited formal teaching experience but much more one on one tutoring in different subjects. One of my pupils went on to be a military helicopter pilot which needed a high level of mathematical ability that I believe I helped him to achieve.

Tutoring Approach:

With both Maths and Physics if there is a lack of good foundational understanding then building on weak foundations will lead to problems. So a key to good tutoring is the identification and strengthening of these weak areas. Then the confidence of the pupil can be rebuilt so they can believe they can do what is required. With this approach I believe the pupil will not only do well in these subjects but will also be able to apply them to life in general.

I am a 26-year old freelance journalist, born and raised in Germany. I have two Master's degrees, one in politics and one in digital journalism. Because of working in media & communications I am used to reviewing written text and highly aware of people's way of expressing themselves. I have a huge passion for languages and have learned Spanish for over 10 years now, including extensive stays in Spain, and I am perfectly fluent in English.

Teaching Experience:

Mostly 1 on 1 teaching and reviewing written texts over the last few years. Also, I taught a GCSE class in German at Royal Greenwich UTC for half a year. My students have significantly improved in their skills and I prepared several people for their move to Germany.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer a natural approach to learning languages which means engaging in everyday conversations that help the speaker get used to the way they usually talk in a new environment. I also look precisely for mistakes in any kind of written work and take much care about correct grammar and spelling as I do in my own publications.

For politics in journalism I can also edit written work and talk through complex political and social processes which I have extensively analysed during my studies.

Personal Description:
I am a calm and collected person and this is reflected in my approach towards tutoring. I aim to build rapport and tailor my service to the specific needs of the tutee. I primarily focus on breaking down the curriculum and assessing through mock scenarios and written assessments built upon topics studied as well as experiences the tutee has had.

As the needs of each student are different, i structure my tutoring in a way which provides realistic expectations of both exam and coursework environments and where possible, i supplement this with the use of past examination material to truly replicate the educational environment the tutee is likely to be in.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience has largely been developed by assisting students in the years below me as well as my younger siblings and my cousins with their education. I have developed this further in a professional setting where i have trained colleagues on new and unfamiliar processes. My strengths lie in breaking down complex information and making it readily accessible to tutees.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin by engaging the tutee/parent/both in conversation to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the tutee, once this has been established, i draw up a comprehensive plan of action to address those needs and where possible, further enhance their existing skillsets. I am to review material with the tutee on a regular basis and ensure they have absorbed the information and more importantly, that they are able to apply it.

Where the tutee requires support via other means such as audio/visual representations of the material - i will endeavour to match this in a suitable manner.
