Personal Description:
Hello.

I am a graduate of Cambridge University. I was previously at a successful, all-girls, private school.

I have top grades in a wide range of GSCEs. I took Spanish, Latin, Ancient Greek and General Studies at A Level and passed with high A grades. I have a first class degree in Classics and Oriental Studies (Middle Eastern and Islamic)

People describe me as friendly and sociable as well as organised and efficient. In my Cambridge college I held various positions of responsibility.

Teaching Experience:

I also have lots of experience as a private tutor teaching all ages and ability ranges.

Most recently I was working as a full time teacher of English at the National School of Aleppo, Syria. I had two grade 6 classes and 4 grade 10 and 11 classes.

During July '08 I taught English as a foreign language at a school in Dubai, UAE. I had my own form class but during the school day I saw 60 children between the ages of 11 and 15.

I have also taught Shakespeare-based workshops to English Primary School children and Japanese High School and University Students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly and supportive as a tutor; encouraging my pupils to stretch themselves and achieve their best.

Although I am only young, I feel that I have the right amount of maturity to guide my pupils effectively, and I am also very approachable. Tutoring is not the same as teaching in a classroom, so I do not believe that a Tutor should be the same as a teacher.

Personal Description:
Hello.
My name is Leonor. I am from Spain and 38 years old.

I am a teacher of Spanish and teach standard, Castilian Spanish, the official language of modern Spain. I love my profession and find teaching more a pleasure than a job. I have discovered that teaching is a two way experience where the teacher often learns as much from the students as the students learn from the teacher. For me, teaching languages is a very rewarding experience. I work with a couple of colleagues online, so we can offer more languages tuition, such as English (British English), French, German, Portuguese and Entrance Exams. All of us are native, qualified and experienced.

I am especially passionate about my native language, Spanish. I love not only the expressive beauty of the written Spanish, but the enchanting, musical sound and rhythm of spoken Spanish. The magic of the language of Cervantes is one of the reasons I have dedicated my life to the study of languages, especially Spanish.

Besides a passion for languages and linguistics, I also enjoy traveling and tracing the roots of human history and civilization. I am especially fascinated by ancient history.

Teaching Experience:

1. Bachelor Degree in Teaching English. University of Cadiz, in Spain.

2. Master Degree in Spanish Expertise. University of Leon (Castilla Leon), in Spain.

Several courses about teaching languages methods.

I am a member of ELE Congress (Spanish as a Foreign Language).

Several years of experience as a teacher of modern languages (Spanish, English and Italian) from children to adults, and all cases with really good results (available to show in case of need).

Two years of experience by teaching languages via Internet.

Tutoring Approach:

Based on the Direct Method, I use a technique of teaching a foreign languages without reference to the students native language. This method of total immersion has been proven to be the most effective means of rapidly developing real language skills. It is recognized as one of the best methods for language instruction and currently used around the world. With this method, students quickly develop the ability to think in their new language. This approach is both easy and satisfying. Student progress is quite rapid. Students progress at their own pace in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. With my method, students will begin speaking their new foreign language from the very first lesson (guaranteed), even if they have never spoken a word of their new language before.

Tired with boring memorization? Do you find formal grammars tiresome and less than effective? COME AND TRY MY METHOD, THE DIRECT METHOD!

Personal Description:
I am a native speaking qualified tutor with more than 10 years' language training experience. I worked for the University and secondary schools and I have been involved in one-to-one tuition for well over ten years. Furthermore, I have first hand experience of running businesses, which helps me better understand the needs and requirements of my business clients.

I have authored a Russian language textbook for Elementary and Pre-Intermediate levels - "The Story Sensation: for learners of the Russian language (and not only for Guadeloupians!)", available on Amazon, at Foyles and other major book-stores (you can check readers' reviews on Amazon).

Qualifications: MPhil in Linguistics, St Petersburg State University. MA in Political Economy of Russia, University College London (School of Slavonic and East European Studies). Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and the Institute of Directors, member of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce and International Association of Russian Language Teachers.

I mostly teach in the City of London, Canary Wharf and Mayfair as well as on-line (my current students are based in Luxembourg, Paris, and Moscow). However, we can discuss it, if you live outside these areas.

I offer a 10% discount for students, seniors, UCL staff and alumni, members of the Vegetarian Society.

Teaching Experience:

More than 10 years' experience of private tuition of foreign languages. I used to work for the University and secondary schools and I have been involved in one-to-one tuition for a number of years.

I have authored a Russian language textbook for Elementary and Pre-Intermediate levels - "The Story Sensation: for learners of the Russian language (and not only for Guadeloupians!)"

My current students include, among others:
- private bank manager (Luxembourg),
- director of the wealth management company (Moscow, Russia),
- partner of the wealth management company (London, UK),
- account managers from a private Swiss bank (London, UK, and Paris, France),
- barrister (London, UK),
- head of department at a financial advisory company (London, UK),
- trader at a major international bank (London, UK),
- director of an investment company (London, UK),
- TV journalist.

Finally, I have just finished tutoring an A-level student who enjoys learning languages and has got particular passion for Russian. He is now a student at the University of Bristol. Two other students (University of Westminster and University College London) have just finished both their course with me and their University course.

Russian course for Complete Beginners starts on 24th April (Wednesday) 7-9pm. Eight weeks' course in a mini-group of up to five people. The price is 259. Discounts for students, over 65s and members of The Vegetarian Society.

Tutoring Approach:

I can be of use for both children and adults and offer a number of courses, including Business Russian, conversational classes, assistance with grammar. ON-LINE language classes are now available.

My associates can also help you with English/French/Chinese/Italian to Russian translation and interpreting.

My recent students' testimonials say:

I've been learning Russian for over two years now and I've tried out a number of different Russian teachers from different companies. I can say that, without a doubt, Ignaty Dyakov has been by far the most outstanding teacher. His lessons are professional and extremely fun at the same time thanks to his friendly nature and good sense of humour. Most importantly - for me at least - he will immediately hone in on any problems you have and help you solve them (often without you even realising!). Ignaty is knowledgeable and very well informed about Russian culture; the Russian I have learned with Ignaty has always been accompanied by interesting cultural insights. Finally, I am always surprised at how impeccably punctual Ignaty is given the horrors of the London transport system!
- Richard P.

Ignaty is an excellent tutor of Russian language with very professional approach. He makes every lesson very interesting, bringing his sense of humour and outlook on the topics discussed in conversations. On a personal level I have found Ignaty is very diligent, reliable, willing to help and assist with founding out any information related to learning Russian language or exploring the Russian culture, art or ways of living. Ignaty has been an absolute pleasure to deal with right from my initial email to discuss my lessons till current date and I have no hesitation in recommending him to any individual or company who is interested in learning Russian language.
- Martina

I have been having private Russian Tuition from Ignaty for a period of 4 months during which I received outstanding education from a highly qualified, intelligent and pleasant individual. The lessons were result focussed, fun and interesting. Besides learning the language itself, I also learned a lot about the actual Russian culture. I can highly recommend these language courses to anyone who requires to be conversational in the Russian language in a short period of time.
-Peter

Taking this course with Ignaty has provided me with excellent grounding in the language and has been a highlight of the last couple of months. He has the patience of a saint (!) and is exceptionally knowledgeable. It's incredibly helpful that Ignaty has such extensive multi-lingual capabilities. His enthusiasm and knowledge has inspired me to explore the Russian culture further to the extent that my next holiday is being spent in St Petersburg. Thanks Ignaty!

Personal Description:
I am a twenty-seven year old student living in Tooting, London. I am an actor having completed a three-year diploma in professional acting from The Oxford School of Drama. Before this I gained a First Class BA (Hons) in English Literature and Drama from the University of Sheffield.

I have a real passion for education and feel I am perfectly placed to help students having just completed my actor training I know what constitutes good teaching.

Having a degree in English Literature and Drama means I would be confident to tutor in English Literature, English Language, Theatre Studies and Drama at A Level or below.

I can also direct speeches for drama school entry and advise on applications.

Teaching Experience:

I am experienced in teaching ages 7-19.

I have also run large group workshops with secondary and primary school children.

I have also studied teaching techniques used in museums and devised theatre projects to communicate exhibits to varying age ranges.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer that the best way to learn is by interaction. I am myself a creative learner, and thus my teaching takes a creative slant.

I am passionate about theatre and the power that human interaction has on learning so I embark on lively lessons designed to create enthusiasm for subjects - so students will not just see them as perfunctory nuisances. I am also incredibly logical and a rigorous planner, who can create realistic targets and see them come to fruition.

Personal Description:
Post doctoral researcher at University of Sheffield, working to improve mathematical computer models which predict onset of heart disease.

I recently completed a PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, carrying out mathematical research on heart disease. My first degree was in Maths at the same university, and I took a Masters in Biomedical Research in between.

I attended both a state school and a top boarding school and am comfortable to cover topics on and off the standard syllabus.

I am a very fun, friendly person with a wide range of activities and hobbies from inline skating to singing and playing the violin.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored A-level maths privately for a few years, and also spent several weeks as a teaching assistant in a secondary school during my undergraduate degree as part of the Student Associates Scheme. Many of my contemporaries from university are science and mathematics teachers across England and overseas, and I periodically discuss teaching methods and curriculum changes with them.

During my PhD, I led undergraduate tutorials and problems classes in the Mathematics and several Engineering departments, teaching undergraduates from 1st year to 4th year. The courses include Mathematical Methods, Matlab, Fluid Mechanics, PDEs, Modelling in Biology, Heat and Mass Transfer. I also carried out 1-1 tuition for undergraduates at departmental request. I have supervised a number of undergraduate and masters research projects and summer students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very approachable person and I prefer interactive sessions, although I can tailor the tuition style to the individual.

A first meeting would involve an informal chat for the student and I to get more familiar with his/her needs and style of working, and everything follows from there.

Personal Description:
For over 8 years I have been teaching English, Literacy and Reading. My aim is to help each student reach their potential through tailored lessons designed to build confidence as well as make learning enjoyable. I own an Enhanced CRB which is clear.

Teaching Experience:

For over 8 years I have been teaching English, Literacy and Reading from in and out of my own home.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to help each student reach their potential through tailored lessons designed to build confidence as well as make learning enjoyable. I have a strong belief that for people of all ages, learning can be fun, and if you enjoy the process, you are much more likely to learn something!

I am extremely enthusiastic when it comes to teaching. There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a student achieve what they set out to do, be it a particular grade they need to obtain or a skill they need to develop. Often lessons tend to last a little longer than the initial hour as I am simply not in this for the money- my satisfaction comes from watching my students achieve and I don't mind eating into my own time by a few more minutes to make sure that happens.

Due to several requests from current and former students, I am now also happy to discuss teaching other subjects outside of English. Please simply give me a call to discuss this.

Testimonials:

'David is extremely hard working and one of the most enthusiastic people we've seen when it comes to teaching. It quickly got to the point where our son was looking forward to his lessons and was disappointed when when we had to reschedule the odd one. Would def recommend.'

-Mohammed, Father of Hassan

'Really happy with David's work. Got results and lessons seemed to be very creative.'

-Janet, Mother of Luke

'Let me start off by saying that I was embarrassed to approach a tutor at first. I have had reading and writing difficulties since I was very young but David ensured full anonymity and built my confidence to a very high level. He has been teaching me once a week for 2 years now. I have learnt more than I ever did at school in a much shorter space of time.'

Personal Description:
Hello! I'm a 25 year old Physics graduate who loves helping students master concepts they once found so confusing. I have a very down to earth manner, explaining things in such a way that helps turn Maths and Physics exams into common sense. The feedback I`ve received so far has been overwhelmingly positive and I've become friends with students whilst at the same time they excel in their examinations. Maths doesn`t have to be a chore, with a little enthusiasm, effort and creativity even the most disenchanted student can become a whizz kid.

Teaching Experience:

I've been tutoring for almost a year now. I've taught maths and physics to year 8 through to year 13 for exam boards AQA and Edexcel. I currently tutor for 12 hours a week and counting.

Tutoring Approach:

Patient, direct, friendly, smart, simple, involving, calming, enthusiastic and effective.
