| Personal Description: I work full time in a purchase ledger department in Oxford; unfortunately the job doesn't give me much satisfaction. However, I have a real passion for teaching and I used to fund a portion of my University costs by teaching English as a foreign language within my local community. I would love to get back to it. |
Teaching Experience: I've worked over 5 years as a private tutor. Predominantly I taught English as a foreign language, but also maths and Polish. I've worked with students of all ages; children, teenagers and adults. All my classes were tailored to the individual needs of my students. I was able to be very flexible, especially with students who needed extra help with school subjects. On many occasions I helped them with other subjects which were not part of the original agreement. |
Tutoring Approach: When I take on a new student I always try to find out what their needs are. Then we work together to choose the best base for our lessons (school student books, additional literature, selection of printed materials etc). Tutorials give this unique opportunity when we can adjust the pace to individual needs. With easier topics we can go though them quite quickly, not being held back by anybody, while with difficult subjects we can always allow extra time for explanation and exercises. I believe that diversity of teaching methods is essential not only because each student has different preferences but also because it's a very useful way to keep them interested in the subject. |

Teaching Experience: I have worked for 4 years in a special needs school, for children with moderate learning difficulties. The needs of the child ranges from down syndrome, ADHD, autism and speech & language difficulties. The school ranges from years 3-11, and the majority of my experience has been with years 3-7. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is based upon the information given to me before the session from the parent/guardian so that it is personalised to suit the need of the child. I will use differentiation for each and every child by using a variety of resources, including use of educational activities on the internet. Plans may be sent via e-mail to the parent before the tuition, or even sent if you are enquiring. Reports will also be sent via e-mail within 3/4 days after the session, including information on the strengths and areas of improvement of the students, as well as a recommended reading list which will suit the age and ability of the child. If travel to a student's home is needed I do add on an extra 4 to the listed price to cover petrol costs. |
