I grew up in Brussels and South America and so am familiar with several different educational systems (French Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate, A levels etc).

I worked as a tutor, teaching French and Spanish from the age of 16. As part of my undergraduate university degree, I worked as an English language teacher in Italy, at a state school. I continued to tutor throughout my academic studies and am now a part-time teacher at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. I have experience giving tuition to children, adolescents and adults in English (literature and as a foreign language), Spanish, French, Italian, Politics, Philosophy, History and Drama.

Tutoring Approach:

I love one-on-one tuition because I can really cater for each student depending on their strengths and weaknesses. I endavour to make the subject as fun and rewarding as possible. I aim to challenge each student, helping them to master their subject, without overloading them and depending on what their needs are. Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Yasmin and I have just graduated from a BSc Hons Biology degree at the University of Nottingham with a 2.1. I consider myself to be a friendly, patient and understanding person, who will rarely give up on a challenge.

Teaching Experience:

I have done peer to peer teaching in my Secondary school where I would help other students at lunchtime or after school.
I have gained further experience in the past 2 years, since joining other tutoring agencies, by teaching Maths, Biology and Geography A levels and GCSE's, to various students on all different levels.

Tutoring Approach:

Obviously each person learns differently, so I would always account for that and tutor in a way that works best for that particular person. Past papers are a great way to prepare for exams so I will always go through model exam questions.

Personal Description:
I am a second year student at the University of Oxford studying Engineering Science. I completed my A levels at Bennett Memorial School having studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I am available to tutor during my Easter holiday, which is about 6 weeks long, and I am happy to travel to the tutee or tutor at home.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring through tutoring websites for a year and a half and helped students towards their GCSE's and A levels last summer. Having recently taken GCSE`s and A Levels`s I have first hand experience of learning the courses and preparing for exams and I feel I have a good understanding of what is needed to do well. In school I helped teach younger students at Maths and Physics revision sessions during lunchtimes. I have also been a young leader at my local cub scout group for 5 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I am enthusiastic about my subjects and try to make learning them interesting. I will try to adapt my approach to whatever suits the student best.

Personal Description:
I studied Modern Languages (French and German) at Magdalen College, Oxford and went on to train as an actor at Central School of Speech and Drama. I can offer classes in beginners conversation for French and German as well as coaching for GCSE and A-level. In addition, I can help students create revision timetables to improve study skills and can offer drama tuition for drama school applicants or to improve confidence and general presentation skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for French, German and English with Home Tutors for the past 7 years and have had an excellent success rate with students achieving their desired grades at GCSE and A-level. I also co-wrote and ran the German Through Music and Drama course at Watford Grammar School for Year 10 Gifted and Talented students.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make lessons as fun and interactive as possible and am reliable, punctual and well-organised. In the first lesson, I ask the tutees and parents exactly what they are hoping to gain from private tuition so that we can work together towards achieving those goals. It's also useful to get hold of a copy of the syllabus and/or class textbooks that the tutee is working from in school so that we can remain on target, tackle homework together and also add supplementary activities that reinforce their course work.

Personal Description:
A computer science graduate and former software engineer that got out of the 'rat-race' in 2001 to develop my then hobby teaching martial arts into a professional career. I now run a very successful Academy teaching martial arts, self protection, and personal development to students of all ages.

Having established the school I had the time to develop my photography to the point when in 2011 I gained a distinction from the Royal Photographic Society, and now I also spend some of my time as a professional photographer too, focussing mainly on teaching others, both individuals and group workshops.

Teaching Experience:

General:
In my former career as a software developer I was also responsible for writing technical documentation and running training courses worldwide. I'm very comfortable with planning, organising and delivering courses up to a very high standard.

Photography:
As a photographer I have been teaching now for about 5 years, I run workshops for all levels, and also individual one-to-one training tailored to students from complete novices up to those approaching Royal Society standard.

Martial Arts:
I'm a high-ranking martial arts instructor (6th degree black belt with 30 years experience) and have been teaching now for well over 20 years, with students of all ages from 5 up to those in their 60's. Alongside my own school I teach courses and seminars to groups of all sizes. I've taught in schools, worked with police and youth groups etc. I often teach private lessons to individuals, both from my own school and those with no prior experience.

Life Coaching:
Having successfully escaped the rat-race to pursue my own goals it's fair to say I've learned a lot about personal development. I've also completed a number of courses and seminars with world-class coaches such as Anthony Robbins. I now share this experience with a number of private clients for personal development and life coaching to help them with motivation, goals and productivity in their own careers.

I have a current DBS (CRB) check and can provide references relating to all aspects of my coaching.

Tutoring Approach:

Friendly, informal and always tailored to the specific needs of the individual.

Happy to chat about your individual requirements prior to booking so please get in touch with any questions :-)

If you're looking for photography, business or personal development coaching I'm happy to chat on the phone, skype or obviously to meet in person (I do charge travelling if you're not coming to me).

Self defence coaching obviously needs to be in person, and there are with minimum training requirements to ensure we can cover enough basic skills.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Kirsten I am a BSc Psychology graduate from the University of Bristol. I am presently studying as a postgraduate in Mental Health Nursing.
I am looking for both secondary school level tutoring roles, adult/undergraduate Psychology instruction as well as any study skill tuition including the 11+ exam.
I am a confident, professional person who is outgoing and passionate about education. I have a large amount of varied tutoring experience across age/qualification levels, with exceptional outcomes for my tutees in terms of result and confidence improvement.

I am a fully qualified driver and own a car, being happy to tutor after school at pupils' homes within the Cheltenham and Gloucester area.
Tutoring in Cheltenham or further afield incurs a small petrol charge (5 Cheltenham, 7 further afield).

FOR ONLINE TUTORING - please knock 2.50 per hour off the stated price, but I will ask the admin fee for this site is paid by the tutee.

I will happily provide one-off online sessions 30mins+ to cover individual topics or help with essays/revision. These sessions will be charged at 2.50 less per hour for all subjects.
I will also happily do whole day sessions which so far most individuals have opted to use as multi-subject revision for upcoming exams.

I hold a current DBS certificate on the government update service open for general use and would be happy to supply this to parents/prospective tutees.

Teaching Experience:

I have 5 younger siblings all of whom I have cared for in the past due to a large age gap. I previously picked my siblings up from school, and helped with homework on a daily basis.

I have had 11 tutees from schools in Oxford, Cheltenham and Gloucester (including the grammar schools), all 4 of my current students are girls studying for a mixture of subjects at both GCSE and A-level. I have had 1 further tutee study with me for the 11+ exam.

During my time at school I was an instructor in the cadet core, teaching basic first aid, shooting and RAF syllabus for 3 years to cadets aged 12-18. I have since returned and am now an adult instructor in both the CCF and outdoor education department.

I also have work experience in nursery settings and previous volunteer experience working at a special needs preschool in Cheltenham and would be happy to tutor children with additional needs. My degree specialty is in dyslexia and I am able to provide tailored material, techniques and specialist guidance for individuals with this diagnosis.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is just to be as flexible as needed, and to tailor my teaching style to the individual.

Whilst my Psychology background means I come with the knowledge of what constitutes an effective learning/revision technique; I appreciate individual differences in style.

I also appreciate that everybody has a different experience and level of skill with technology. Whilst I would aspire to include interactive learning tools that can be extended outside of our sessions, I understand that this is not for everyone and will happily tutor in a more conventional style if this means my student can take more away from our time. Through online access I provide lots of revision and syllabus materials to all my tutees.

At the heart of my tutoring style is to accept that often a lack of understanding comes not from a lack of ability in a subject, but from the explanation that has been given being unsuited to that person. I focus on breaking concepts down to simple and memorable steps/parts and reviewing them until a full understanding is reached. I also feel it is very important not just to have a piece of knowledge, but to both understand WHY something is how it is and HOW it can be applied across subjects/concepts.

Personal Description:
I am passionate about teaching English and love helping those who struggle just as much as stretching those who find it easier. I have 17 year teaching experience and in that time, have taught children up to the age of 13; helping older children prepare for 13+ Public School Entrance exams as well as teaching younger children to master phonics, basic reading skills and spelling. I am an experienced SATs marker enabling me to help children to prepare for these exams. I have worked closely with learning support departments in order to support and extend those children with difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia. I have achieved part one of a Diploma in Teaching Children with Specific Learning Difficulties. I also have a Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language which means I have an in depth knowledge of English grammar as well as an understanding of how teenagers and adults learn.

I am an avid reader and writer but a mum to a reluctant reader so I understand how difficult it can be to get children to read. I do, however, believe that there is something for everyone.

Additionally, I can teach French and German. I have taught them both to GCSE level and studied both languages to degree level.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 17 years and was most recently a teacher of years 5 to 8 English and French at a well-respected private school for children aged 5 - 18. Prior to that I taught at an independent prep school where I was a class teacher as well as a member of the Senior Management Team and Head of Girls' Games. I have an excellent understanding of all aspects of child development and the need to make learning meaningful and fun. I am passionate about reading as well as all types of writing and am a member of the National Handwriting Association. I am also able to include IT in the classroom when necessary.

Tutoring Approach:

This depends entirely on the needs of the child. After an initial consultation, I would be able to offer support with reading and comprehension and/or writing (whether it be handwriting or speed of writing - or both). It might be a case of helping your child to understand English grammar as well as teaching them techniques to enable them to include it effectively in their own writing. If it is a case of preparing for forthcoming exams, then this can be done by using past papers as well as my own materials devised after extensive experience of helping children prepare for all types of exams. You may just want some extra support for your child over the summer and prior to the start of a busy new term. Whatever it is, it will be done with empathy and enthusiasm.

Personal Description:
I'm James, 26, and an MPhil/PhD candidate in English and Humanities at Birkbeck, University of London, with a thesis on the ethics of black radical, avant-guard and experimental poetry from selective poets.

I have a BA & MA in Creative Writing from the University of Greenwich. I received the Stephen Lawrence Poetry Prize and their Communication and Creative Arts Prize for Achievement for obtaining one the highest marks awarded to a creative writing student; and my final MA piece was published, in print, by the Berkeley Poetry Review (University of California, Berkeley) and nominated, by the BPR, for the Pushcart Poetry Prize.

Although my academic background is practice-based, my specialist areas of interest are associated with the philosophical, critical, and theoretical dynamics of the creative writing process, which is to say that the creative isn't subordinate to the reflective, but are mutual, and taken together form the grounds for rich exploration.

Teaching Experience:

I'm currently working in a primary school as an English Literacy Teaching Assistant, with a concentration of developing the reading & writing skills for KS1 and, as of September, KS2 pupils.

In the past, I have also assisted undergraduates, and selective postgraduate, with proofreading, editing, and critically evaluating their poetry.

Tutoring Approach:

My natural approach to tutoring is relaxed and calm, but engaging and stimulating, whereby the dialogue that is established, to contribute to the dissemination knowledge and abstract ideas, can be brought into greater focus. I usually look to help tutees form an aim that can be managed though stages so as to ensure that learning is refined to the best degree of expended effort, is not overwhelming, and, above all, interesting and valuable.
