Personal Description:
I have graduated from Bristol University and I am a qualified maths teacher with a PGCE. I know maths can be intimidating, and some students even believe they don't have a maths brain. This simply isn't true. With hard work, and an attentive tutor, my students systematically tackle the subject and acquire the skills they need to succeed. I can also give advanced students an edge over their competitors.

Teaching Experience:

I have 5 years experience of tutoring and teaching maths from primary school, through secondary school entrance exams, up to GCSE.

I am most comfortable when preparing students for their maths GCSE and I have a proven record of success.

I have taught maths in three secondary schools in the UK and one international school in China. In China, I was responsible for designing the maths curriculum for the whole of year 6.

Tutoring Approach:

Simplify the subject by breaking it down into its key parts. Then build it back up into something coherent and strong. Patience, perseverance and the practical application of success.

Personal Description:
I have been teaching Latin and Classical Studies for over 10 years. I have a BA Hons in Latin and Classical Studies from University College Dublin, a Masters in Classics from King's College London and a Diploma in Spoken Latin, for which I studied under the translator for the Vatican. I am passionate about my subject and love to share my enthusiasm for Latin with my students. As well as private tutoring, I also teach Latin and Classics in schools (both primary and secondary), run after school Latin clubs, and am also training teachers who will teach Latin as part of a project I am involved with to introduce Latin into state schools. I also teach Classical Studies and Ancient History.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Latin and Classical Studies for over 5 years. My students have been of all ages and at vastly different stages in their learning. I have helped students who have been struggling with school coursework, helped prepare students for exams, and also designed entire curricula for students who wish to learn from scratch. I come with excellent references and proven results, with some previous students having gone on to study Classics at Oxbridge and other third level institutions, obtaining Latin scholarships to college, and even going on to teach Latin themselves in secondary schools. I have experience of private tutoring, small groups, classroom teaching at both primary and secondary level, exam preparation classes, after school clubs and running teaching workships to train future teachers of Latin.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my tutorials to fit the needs of each individual student.

Personal Description:
I have many thousands of hours tutoring experience following a career in the telecommunications industry. I am also a qualified Flying Instructor, and have been trained to effectively deliver one-to-one tuition.

I have always enjoyed helping people to achieve their goals and will go the extra mile to ensure the success of my students.

I am passionate about the choice of physics and engineering as a career. Without physics there would be no iPhones, games consoles, or the internet!

Teaching Experience:

Besides being an experienced tutor of at up to A-level standar I have been a visiting lecturer to both Aston and Coventry Universities.

I am a qualified flying instructor so I am very experienced in providing one-to-one tuition to students with a range of abilities and I have been trained to teach in a difficult environment (an aircraft).

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and understanding teacher with experience of teaching a wide cross-section of pupils and am familiar with many of the common stumbling blocks pupils encounter when studying physics in particular.

Wherever possible I try to use the experiences that I have gained during my career to provide real life examples and case studies and to demonstrate that physics is fun!

Personal Description:
I am a native speaker of Turkish. I've been living in England since 1997 and completed my Computer Science degree in 2006 at Aston University / Birmingham. For my final year project I developed computer program to translate between Turkish and English. The program was build using a dictionary, set of rules listed in a pattern and a logic to extract meaning using the dictionary and the pattern. Turkish is morphologically a complex language. However complexity can be simplified by learning the patterns, and then enjoy making sentences using logic. I find learning a language exciting myself and after my degree started to learn German. Through listening to cd's of Michael Thomas. It was fascinating to see that he was using the same technique to teach couple of his students. During the learning process it was their logic that was being challenged more than their memory of words and phrases. I think it is ok to 'cheat' and look up words that you don't remember. Once you start making sentences using particular words and you are comfortable with the sentence you will also remember the word due to the pattern you have built in your mind. Regardless of our individual learning styles, I think building patterns is a more permanent and easy way of learning than trying to memorise everything.

Teaching Experience:

I ve been giving private tuition in Birmingham, and now I would like to continue this in Bournemouth. I am currently doing a research about effective ways of teaching Turkish. I am interested in teaching Turkish because I enjoy teaching, also the experience will support my project. My ultimate aim is to write and record my own teaching materials for learning Turkish

Tutoring Approach:

I developed my interest in languages through my degree. I am competent in teaching, and I will adopt my technique based on the individual's learning style. Most native English speaking people in the UK finds agglutinative languages difficult to comprehend, as they attempt to 'understand' by comparing them with their own or some other European language. I believe that I can provide techniques that will overcome this difficulty. I enjoy teaching Turkish because I believe that I can understand how different individuals perceive and learn. I find it challenging and rewarding to be able to connect with people, deliver information the way they will appreciate, and see people enjoying the experience of learning.

Personal Description:
As a post-graduate and former scientist, I have been tutoring chemistry for over 9 years now. I am an easy going, down to earth person with a natural flare for teaching. I really enjoy helping people to understand difficult concepts and I've always found science captivating. I am the kind of person who is willing to go above and beyond to help if I am able to. I have experience with young people of all ages, from crèche to holiday clubs, teaching in schools and leading teenagers at summer camps.

Teaching Experience:

I have enjoyed studying science at university level for over 8 years, during which time I was also involved in teaching undergraduate students in labs and tutorials. Since then I've held a post in a pharmaceutical lab developing cancer therapies, as well as teaching chemistry, physics and biology in secondary schools. I studied for a PGDE to become a secondary school chemistry teacher in 2010 (but had to end the course early due to severe morning sickness). As such, I have been able to practice and develop a variety of teaching methods and I'm up to date with the relevant exam board course outcomes and requirements. Over the past 9 years, I have professionally tutored many students, covering Standard Grade, Intermediate 2, National 5, Higher, Revised Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry, Revised Advanced Higher Chemistry, Higher Human Biology and first year University level Biochemistry. About 70% of my students have achieved at least 2 or 3 grade jumps since they started tutorials with me.

I have several positive references and a CRB enhanced disclosure, which will be available to view on request.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly approach to tutoring. I like my students to feel at ease so that they are able to ask me anything. I'm of the mind set that no question is too silly to ask. My tutorials are structured and tailored around the individual student. Depending on the time we have available before an exam/NAB, we will identify key areas that the student experiences difficulty with and work through them addressing Knowledge & Understanding and Problem Solving, both of which are key to achieving the individual's desired grade. I endeavour to cover all topics of the course if we are able to, as I often find that there are areas that a student realises they are not up to scratch on once we start to revise it. I create personalised worksheets for my students and we spend a lot of time going through past papers, as well as developing exam/study technique.

As tutition progresses, I have witnessed a huge increase in the confidence that every one of my students hold in their own ability to problem solve as well as understand their given course work. I have often had comments from students and parents that I make things easy to understand and that the student is actually enjoying their course a lot more since commencing tutoring. I try to make myself available as much as possible to answer queries from tutees by e-mail or text, especially in the run up to class tests or exams.

Here's what one of my previous tutees had to say: "Dale tutored me throughout my higher Chemistry course and I honestly could not have got an A without her! She managed to explain the complex concepts essential to understanding chemistry in a way that I could relate to real life. She was always supportive and motivated me to do well. She was always flexible and able to fit in between my busy schedule. Even now when I have issues with my course work at Medical school I know I could drop her an e-mail with questions and she would be more than happy to help out. Overall Dale is fantastic, if you want a good grade whilst having fun she is your best bet!" - Eilidh.

All of my preparation time (typically 2 hours per session), travel time and travel expenses are included in the hourly rate. I prefer not to travel more than 7 miles from home but will still be happy to consider this.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a PhD in Applied Maths, and wish to use some of my experience of the subject to help other students reach their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have several years of experience of tutoring undergraduate students in maths at the University of Sheffield. These were mostly Fundamental and 1st year maths courses, at a similar standard to A-level.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide one-to-one or small group tuition in a relaxed, friendly environment tailored to the student's needs. My approach is mainly to establish areas of weakness in the student's understanding, and try to help them overcome these by explaining the basic principles and working through example questions with them.

Personal Description:
I have been a tutor for over 20 years and a personal tutor since moving to Driffield in 2006. I have always been keenly interested in science subjects and gained a BSc (hons) in biology in 1995.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 20 years experience as a tutor, beginning in adult education for Leeds University. For the last 8 years I have been a personal tutor for both GCSE and A level students, teaching AQA, Edexcel and Baccalaureate syllabuses. In 2009 I gained the level 3 PTLLS teaching qualification.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very enthusiastic about teaching biology and I believe that science should be interesting (and definitely not scary) and that understanding key principles makes the detailed stuff so much easier. I tailor each session to the individual student's needs, spending any necessary time on topics that may be causing difficulties, and use a very patient approach to improve subject knowledge, exam technique as well as improving the student's confidence.

Personal Description:
I am a First Class Honours LL.B. graduate. I recently completed my LL.M. in Law at King's College London. I also received The Thomson Reuters Law Prize for Best Undergraduate Law Dissertation and have received many firsts in my law examinations and essays.

I strive to achieve the best possible results I can.

All students have the potential to be the best. It is the teacher who must hone this and let the student shine. Tutoring can make a great difference in a student's grade if it is done correctly. I believe that students need practice, confidence and time to be the best they can.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously had experience being a teaching assistant in English, Maths, History and Biology at a Primary School to Year 1 and 2 students. I held this position for 2 years.

If students in a class of 30 did not understand what a teacher had taught them, I would sit down individually with these students and ensure that they understood what was being taught before giving them a set of tasks to test their knowledge.

I have also proofread and helped students from GCSE level to postgraduate level to understand how they can achieve better grades in coursework components. This is especially true for English and History GCSE to A-Level students and undergraduate Law students.

I can also help Law students use the OSCOLA referencing system and make sure they have used it correctly throughout their work.

This would especially be helpful to students who do not use English as their first language.

I have also been tutored previously during my A Levels and I understand the skills and needs that a good tutor needs in order for a student to achieve their best potential.

I am very happy to help tutees improve their coursework and essays.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it is imperative that students will come away with new knowledge each tuition session. Due to this, I am always happy to change the structure of my teaching for the benefit of the pupil. I will be prepared for all lessons and will provide homework which will gauge the student's performance.

I will identify any weak areas a student may have and focus on improving these areas. Exam and coursework technique will also be improved along with providing students with good revision habits and tips.

I will seek feedback from students so that I can keep improving my methods and so that they can ultimately benefit academically from this.

Personal Description:
I'm a highly motivated and passionate editor with over five years' experience in copywriting, editorial and publishing. I recently trained to become an English Language Teacher and gained the Cambridge English Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA).

I currently work as a freelance editor and writer and offer private tutoring for foreign language learners. If you wish to learn or improve your English, then please get in touch. My hourly rate is reasonable and my hours are flexible. I can either host the sessions or come to you.

Teaching Experience:

I completed 120 hours of a full-time teacher training course leading to the Cambridge English Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) from 5-30th September 2016. The course was of an extremely practical nature and included six hours of supervised and assessed teaching practice on groups of adult foreign students. The course also included work on teaching methodology and techniques, and phonology.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach is personable, supportive and encouraging. Before the tutoring sessions begin, I will carry out an initial consultation, which will enable me to gage the student's level (e.g. elementary, intermediate), as well as their reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities. It's also important that I understand the student's motivations for learning English.

During the tutoring sessions, we'll cover the basics of English grammar (depending on level) and practise the grammar and vocabulary using real-life activities, such as, writing an email; listening to conversations; speaking and reading authentic materials (e.g.magazine articles, emails...)

I'll use a number of effective teaching techniques for practising and checking language, and work hard to make my clarification of meaning effective. I believe in student-centred lessons and respond to students' needs, correcting errors appropriately.

~ Testimonials ~
"Natalie is a positive and enthusiastic teacher who has demonstrated a lot of ability in the classroom".
"Natalie has an excellent rapport with learners and responds well to their needs".
"Throughout the course, Natalie displayed a friendly and supportive manner with her students and was able to establish and maintain a positive learning environment".
