Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Jodie. I am a 30 year old female currently studying a PhD in Education Policy at The University of Nottingham. I am friendly, enthusiastic, organised and I have several years of experience tutoring students with a range of abilities, both at home and in a school environment.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or require any further information.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach on undergraduate courses in The School of Sociology at The University of Nottingham. This year I taught on the MA Philosophy of Research module and the BA Social Policy and Social Justice module.

Over the past eight years I have privately tutored numerous children and adults in English Literature, English Language, Social Sciences, and Mathematics.

For five years I have mentored students applying to Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities as part of the Oxbridge Mentoring Scheme run by Insight Education. This involved supporting students throughout the entire admissions process, including writing their personal statement, interview preparation, support with developing their analytical skills and preparation for entrance examinations.

For two years I worked as an academic tutor in an inner city comprehensive school in London. Here I tutored sixth form students in English Language, English Literature, Social Sciences, and Media Studies. A large component of this role was supporting students with essay writing skills and study skills and I am happy to support students with these skills in a general way, or in relation to a specific subject. In this role I also coordinated and ran summer school transition programmes for students moving into year seven, and tutored mathematics and English to year seven students. I am therefore comfortable teaching and supporting students from a range of different year groups.

I have tutored GCSE English to students who have been excluded from mainstream school, and students who are struggling to pass GCSE qualifications. Several of my roles have contained a motivational and mentoring aspect, and I have lots of experience of getting students organised in their approach to study.

Summary of Academic Qualifications:

A levels in English Language, English Literature and Sociology all at grade A
BA English Language and Literature (2:1) from The University of Oxford
MSC Social Policy with Distinction from The London School of Economics and Political Science
MA in Research Methods (Social Policy) with Distinction from The University of Nottingham
I am currently undertaking a funded PhD in Education Policy at The University of Nottingham

As I have degrees and post graduate qualifications in English Language, English Literature and Social Science subjects and I am happy to teach these up to degree level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very much dependant on the student. I believe that different people are suited to different learning styles and therefore I always take the first couple of sessions to assess how a student likes to work and what their difficulties might be.

I like to set 'homework' tasks - even if they are very short - to encourage the student to develop the skills they are learning in their own time. I am happy to mark additional work and essays and to e-mail students with any advice or feedback that they may require whilst working on a particular assignment.

Personal Description:
A true renaissance man, Alex makes: mini epic films, video installations, games, photographs, sculpture, blogs and books. Using readily available materials and software the work often has a feeling of improvisation, an initial throwaway idea made visible.

Throughout his practice there is a sense of an acceptance of failure or disappointment as important parts of the human condition. He makes light with big issues and is, in turn, haunting and funny. His humorous sculpture typically conveys a sense of the accidental, eternally on the brink of failure or collapse. Recent DIY apocalypses, created from expanding builders' foam, seem to have an unruly, malevolent life of their own and explore the processes of invasion and infection. While his films and writing play with ideas of chance, quotidian struggles, the loss of control and responsibility.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught a range of students of all ages and backgrounds from: National Diploma, Extended Diploma, Art Foundation, Degree to MA level.
I have experience in all fields of art and design but my specialist areas include: Sculpture, Drawing, Video, Art History, Cotextual Studies, Art Theory and installation.
I am expert at preparing students' portfolios for interview at Foundation and Degree level.
I am also able to advise in a number of areas of profesional practice including: Statement writing, CVs, recording work, publicity and basic website construction.
I have also had experience of teaching adults basic IT skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I am happy to tutor online and in person either in my own studio or by home visits (by bicycle)
I am an easy going and responsive tutor, happy to discuss individual student's needs and to guide them through all stages of their art and design career.

Personal Description:
I am a very positive person and have full empathy with students barriers to learning.
I am friendly and approachable and like to aim to raise student self-esteem and attitude to learning, focusing on positive recognition of achievements and constructive reinforcement of learning strategies.

I work just as easily with adults as I do with children.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 30 years of teaching experience teaching from pre schoo level up to GCSE level and adult learning for returning to work.

I also teach children within the care system who have missed a lot of the early building blocks through lack of education as opposed to lack of ability. This also includes overcoming huge barriers to learning !

10% discount on bank transfer payments! First lesson FREE!!! Don't miss out on an outstanding teacher for a low price. I believe everyone deserves a fantastic education at a low price!

I am an enthusiastic primary teacher who creates an effective learning atmosphere, by never judging the children I teach. I am good at extending children's learning, whether they need extra support or they are exceeding expectations.

I am passionate about education and want to offer children the best chance in their education.

I lived in Bradford for 4 years whilst completing my degree in teaching before moving to Brighouse when I started my new job in September 2013.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a supply teacher in schools throughout Halifax, Bradford and Huddersfield, teaching children from Nursery to Year 6. I have taught several GCSE students, all of which have increased their grades, some from a G to B within only a few months.

I am currently teaching full time at a school in Huddersfield whilst offering one to one tutoring for 10 different children. At present, I have only a few spaces left, so contact me now!

Tutoring Approach:

I work hard to give an excellent tuition service. I provide all the materials required and provide you with up to date assessment details. I am up to date with the new national curriculum and assessments.
I adapt work to the needs of my learners and provide different ways of learning. I understand children learn in different ways. After working with your child for only a few sessions, I can plan sessions which are suited to your child or children.

Personal Description:
I am Francis currently studying for a PhD at University College London and a certified Higher Education Academy Fellow. I have a strong background in Chemistry, Biology and Maths, having studied a Science/Pharmacy related course up to the PhD level. I am formally trained to teach courses at higher level and keen to breakdown and apply these principles in tutoring at the level I am currently engaged in.
Patience and empathy are my best virtues and I know these combined with my strong knowledge in Science and Maths, up to college level offers me the ability to ensure my tutees meet their academic goals with outstanding results to show for our collective hard work and dedication.

Teaching Experience:

I am formally trained to teach, with a professional recognition from the Higher education Academy. My teaching experience are from diverse areas and levels. I have worked as a teaching assistant at various primary and secondary classes keenly observing, participating and understudying highly qualified and experienced teachers. Throughout my PhD programme, I have been teaching modules to various groups of undergraduate students, most of whom have offered outstanding reviews and feedback on my style of teaching

Tutoring Approach:

Anyone can learn anything! I am a firm believer in this saying. Understanding that different pupils/students have different approaches to learning and abilities is a good starting point in identifying unique strengths of individual students and utilizing their inherent abilities to bring across what they need to know. Some visualize better than others. Some are better at memorizing. Others good hearers. Taking time to understand a student will help develop a highly efficient unique learning strategy for him or her and yield a better output within the limited contact time thereby offering better value for money

Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Hannah. I am 23 years old and have recently migrated from New Zealand. I am a qualified midwife but over the last seven years I have done some part-time private tutoring with secondary school-aged students in Mathematics and English. I also have extensive experience in the hospitality industry and in private nannying. I have always loved teaching and enjoy celebrating the achievements of the students I work with. In my spare time I love to travel, spend time with family and friends and be in the outdoors.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified midwife but over the last seven years I have done some part-time private tutoring with secondary school-aged students in Mathematics, English and occasionally French. Most of the students I have worked with have been between the ages of 12 and 16 years. Although my experience is with the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (N.C.E.A), the New Zealand equivalent of G.C.S.E and A-levels, I have seen that most of the content is transferrable. I have received overwhelming positive feedback from the students I have tutored over the last few years and have helped them to achieve excellent grades in their internally and externally assessed examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

I find the tutoring sessions are most effective when done face-to-face (instead of over Skype). I also prefer if the student has provided the content they wish to cover prior to the session (ideally this would be past examinations with worked answers), so that we can make the most out of the scheduled time. In the first meeting I like to gage how the student best learns and then use this to plan future sessions.

Personal Description:
I'm a university student studying computer engineering, which means that I study engineering mathematics every day. I have also done A-Level maths, mechanics and statistics. I would love to be a private tutor and spread my understanding with students. Also due to my young age I can connect with students more effectively and I study and practice easy to use mathematics procedures. Thanks

Teaching Experience:

I was involved in a program when I was in Sixth Form to teach secondary school students.
I have also helped my younger brother through many exams and he's in secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

Usually I start by explaining the meaning of mathematical functions or just give a summary of how this can be understood by relating it to daily life or through the use of logic. If they manage to understand, I will go through multiple examples with them and finally I will leave some questions for them to do by them self. I also request that they tell me every step they make and they have to give a reason for every action. If they cannot answer the question I would go through the question again and try too find what they find difficult and work with them until they feel confident.

Personal Description:
I am currently in my second year at university studying Mechanical Engineering. I studied both Maths and Physics at A-level, and I am aiming to complete my masters in Energy Engineering. At 16 I was awarded an engineering scholarship by the Reece Foundation who i worked with throughout my A-levels up until university. I do a lot of volunteer work, and have plenty of experience working with people of all ages. I enjoy teaching others and sharing knowledge, and I would love to be a tutor to see a student`s development and progress throughout the sessions.

Teaching Experience:

During my A-levels my sixth form offered me the opportunity to tutor GCSE students who needed some extra help with maths. I also do a lot of group work at university, which involves teaching our peers the topics that we are strongest on. I have always enjoyed teaching others, especially on a one to one basis where I feel I successfully identify areas that they are struggling with and can explain the problem in a different manner in order for them to understand.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is not to teach the student how to memorise answers to certain types of questions, but to approach the questions in a new and creative way so that they can tackle any questions that may arise in the exam. I believe teaching the topic in an efficient manner and then frequent and repetitive practice of questions is the est way to solidify learning.
