Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic, energetic teacher with eight years experience teaching and tutoring A-level with a passion for my subject. In my spare time I watch and play football, enjoy reading, hiking and watching films; on the odd occasion I like to go skiing or scuba diving.

I studied A-levels before deciding to go to Durham University to read Chemistry. Once I finished my degree, I trained as a teacher at Manchester University and worked in Manchester for three years before moving down to London for four years. I have been teaching A-level Chemistry for eight years in total and have experience tutoring every exam board including the IB. I am also an OCR Examiner and Reviewer for AS Chemistry Exam Breadth in Chemistry.

In the Summer 2014 exams, I successfully guided the Chemistry department to their first 100% pass rate and a headline figure of 83% A-C in AS Chemistry.
In the Summer 2015 exams, the A-level Chemistry results at Sacred Heart were one of the best with 93% A*-C (64% A*-B).
In the Summer 2016, A-level Chemistry achieved 80% A*-C (65% A*-B) grades.

I left teaching this year to go back to university to read Medicine, however I am still looking to tutor students who require support and advice in Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very calm, patient and relaxed person and this is reflected in my tutoring. Many students can have difficulty with Science (in particular Chemistry) and with a one on one approach can be more motivating than in a classroom environment. I have an excellent knowledge of Science and can communicate this effectively. I will take you as far as you need to go in the subject and will be efficient with your time. Past successes include two students whom increased a grade from a B to A to get onto a Medicine course and also recently a student whom achieved a C at AS level and came out with an A for his full A-level.

I normally tutor by focusing on key concepts and ideas, using past paper questions to highlight what the exam requirements are and help students learn to apply their knowledge. I can also tutor in a less formal way where students can bring particular questions or topics and we can discuss them and look at application and exam style questions.

I studied Classics at King's College, Cambridge, graduating in 2009. I then trained as a teacher at Queens' College, Cambridge, graduating with a PGCE in 2010. I have been a private tutor since 2009, and have now clocked up thousands of hours' tutoring experience in Latin and Ancient Greek. I tutor both languages to degree-level standard in London, Cambridge and online. I love Classics, and my main aim is to make my lessons fun and inspirational.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Latin and Ancient Greek intensively for the past 7 years, with thousands of hours' teaching experience to date. I have taught towards all major public exams in both languages, such as Common Entrance, GCSE, AS, A2, SAT, Pre-U and even BA (i.e. University exams). I am familiar with the entrance processes for a number of independent and grammar schools, and have had a lot of experience teaching towards scholarship papers. I have tutored many students applying to Cambridge and Oxford, and can provide in-depth advice and support with choosing the right course and college, as well as getting to the necessary level for the language tests. I have also taught the languages to those who have decided to learn them purely for fun! In addition to my face-to-face teaching, I have taught extensively online (about 50% of my teaching is conducted on Skype), and have built up an array of handy techniques to get the most from the online format. I was Head of Latin at a school in Bury St Edmunds for two years (September 2011 to July 2013). Since October 2010, I have been supervising Cambridge undergraduates in Latin and Ancient Greek (colleges so far have included Pembroke, Downing, Homerton, Queens', King's, Murray Edwards, Newnham, Caius, Peterhouse, St John's, Emmanuel and Trinity). I also own and run a private tuition agency, Titanium Tutors, which I set up in 2011, managing a team of 8 staff members and over 1000 inspirational tutors.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is structured and thorough. I start every lesson with a five minute recap of the key content of the previous session, checking how much the tutee remembers. A typical lesson will then consist of a translation, in which I ask the tutee to note down each unknown word as it is encountered and to devise a memory trick which will help them to recall the word in a five minute test at the end of the lesson. Together with the tutee, I will then pick a grammar point which stood out in the translation exercise as requiring the most immediate attention. We will spend five to ten minutes working on that, with the tutee's understanding tested with some reinforcement exercises. At the end of the lesson we will recap all the new vocabulary and grammar which was covered, and I will typically set a manageable 20 - 30 minute homework for the next session based on what was covered in the lesson. Every lesson is of course different, and tailored to the tutee's requirements, but I find this approach works in the vast majority of cases. I consider grammar to be crucially important, but treat it as a means to an end and always emphasise the ways in which it can be usefully applied to translation rather than learned in isolation. I believe that any tutee can excel in Latin and Greek with a little guidance and a decent amount of independent work. Above all, I strive to make my lessons fun and enjoyable. I love my subject and want all of my tutees to love it too.

I had various other jobs such as listening to children read, sorting out and marking homework and classwork and photocopying work for distribution.

I work very closely to the curriculum and have an unlimited use of resources for English, Maths and Science at Key Stages 1, 2, 3 & 4 (GCSE). I implement a variety of timed activities to monitor progress and establish focus points. Personal Description:
I am a native speaker of Turkish. I've been living in England since 1997 and completed my Computer Science degree in 2006 at Aston University / Birmingham. For my final year project I developed computer program to translate between Turkish and English. The program was build using a dictionary, set of rules listed in a pattern and a logic to extract meaning using the dictionary and the pattern. Turkish is morphologically a complex language. However complexity can be simplified by learning the patterns, and then enjoy making sentences using logic. I find learning a language exciting myself and after my degree started to learn German. Through listening to cd's of Michael Thomas. It was fascinating to see that he was using the same technique to teach couple of his students. During the learning process it was their logic that was being challenged more than their memory of words and phrases. I think it is ok to 'cheat' and look up words that you don't remember. Once you start making sentences using particular words and you are comfortable with the sentence you will also remember the word due to the pattern you have built in your mind. Regardless of our individual learning styles, I think building patterns is a more permanent and easy way of learning than trying to memorise everything.

Teaching Experience:

I ve been giving private tuition in Birmingham, and now I would like to continue this in Bournemouth. I am currently doing a research about effective ways of teaching Turkish. Most native English speaking people in the UK finds agglutinative languages difficult to comprehend, as they attempt to 'understand' by comparing them with their own or some other European language. Tutoring Approach:

My approach to proof-editing / English checking is to look primarily at the language. For some clients - university students in particular - it is not appropriate to offer an editorial service as this goes against the rules of university submissions. However, where I think a mistake has been made or something is not clearly expressed - and it is not a simple matter of correcting the language - then I will flag it up to the student so they can look at it again.

My main aim with students is to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. To this end I concentrate on teaching the skills they require to achieve the grades they want. My role is not to replace the teaching they get at school but to compliment it so a tutoring session could concentrate on planning an essay the student has been asked to write or going through specific areas the student needs help with. I won't necessarily give homework - unless required - as I feel students have enough to do without me adding to their workload.

In return I expect my students to engage with the sessions. They don't have to like the subject and of course I'm there to help those who don't understand some things or just need a little help or encouragement, but the student must be prepared to be tutored.

I am a Physics graduate and trainee Science teacher with over four years of tutoring experience and a brilliant track record.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked at two different Tuition Centres where I offered individual and group tutoring sessions in Mathematics and Physics from Primary to A Level standard. I have covered the vast majority of the exam boards for GCSE and A Level on numerous occasions and I have had the pleasure of helping students achieve their potential.

I am very flexible in my tutoring approach - I tailer my lessons based on what suits YOU.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing is to ensure the tutee is comfortable with the approach. I do not have one particular approach but adapt my tutoring sessions in a way to suit the student.

Whereas I understand the importance of exams and will often stress this, I find it more useful to to engage with the tutee in a way which would result in them loving the subject. This will encourage and motivate them to work further.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated from Cambridge University with a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences. I achieved top grades in my GCSE and A-levels, as well as winning various national academic prizes such as the National Institute of Medical Research Human Biology Essay Competition. I am currently studying graduate-entry medicine at Kings College London.

I have had a lot of practice with university interviews, especially in medicine and science. I am willing to offer interview practice for sixth-form students to help university applications.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 200 hours of tutoring experience from 11+ to GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

Although my main aim in tutoring is to help students achieve top grades in their exams, I also like to bring in relevant information from my degree and current medical studies. I feel that this helps to contextualise the subject, making it more relevant and interesting.

From previous experience and feedback, I feel that I am an approachable and friendly tutor with the aim of maximising the potential of all my students.

Tutoring Approach:

Generally, my tutoring techniques are quite structured and detailed.I ensure that whatever topic I am teaching is explained in the simplest way possible to understand.
My main goal is to identify pupils' weaknesses, focus on those areas and look and see how to improve. I also make sure my students understand the subject fully before moving. Understanding Mathematics is important to passing exams and achieving good grades and I am able to do this by providing detailed examples and solutions. I make sure to go over each topic in detail and provide examples for my students to do. Each person learns differently so I either give them notes I have written beforehand or I let them write up notes in bullets points and formulas which can be good for muscle memory. My main focus is past paper revision. As I believe if you can complete the past papers easily, you can past the exam easily.

I am a native Greek speaker, having been born and raised in Greece. I had an inclination and passion towards foreign languages from a young age, which resulted into my learning English and French as a primary and secondary school student and Japanese and a little Korean as a high school and university student. I have a BA in English Language and Literature from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and I am currently studying for my MSc in Comparative Literature at the University of Edinburgh. I also hold several foreign language certificates.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously worked as a tutor of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), teaching mostly primary and secondary school children as well as preparing adults for English language exams and certificates. I have also taught Greek to foreigners and elementary Japanese.
