Personal Description:
I am a mum to my ten year old daughter and I am also kept very busy with 2 puppies. I am involved in my daughter's school both as a parent helper and as a Governor.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English at KS3, 4 and 5 for over 13 years. I am experienced at preparing students for SATS exams, GCSES and A levels. Additionally I have helped adults to improve their reading and writing skills from helping them to update their CV to sitting an exam. I am also an examiner for AQA and OCR. I have experience of teaching both in a classroom environment and on an individual basis. I am currently busy writing educational resources and tutoring students of all ages . I am also excited to be currently helping a Japanese lady improve her conversational skills!

Tutoring Approach:

When we meet I will initially assess your child's needs and set out clear targets for us to focus on. I will offer lots of guidance and coaching in your child's areas of weakness. Your child's progress is reviewed at the end of each term and new targets are set as appropriate. I provide an overview for parents of what each session covered and I also set weekly homework. Experience has shown that private tuition works best with the support of your child's class teacher. Therefore I like to liaise with your child's teacher to see how I can support what is happening at school.

Personal Description:
I am 60 years old, originally from a business and finance background, and retrained as a teacher from 2008/9, completing a PGCE. I am QTLS qualified and a member of the Tutors' Association which promotes professional standards in the tutoring industry.
I operate as a freelance/private tutor specialising in mathematics and have experience in teaching all ages from primary up to GCSE. I also have several years' experience teaching basic numeracy and literacy to adults.

Teaching Experience:

From 2007-2009 I worked as a volunteer/trainee teacher for a further education college and from 2009-2012 was employed as a basic skills tutor travelling throughout East Anglia teaching adult numeracy and literacy in the workplace. Since January 2012 I have worked as a private tutor teaching mathematics to 5 - 16 year olds whilst continuing to work as a part-time Functional Skills and GCSE mathematics tutor for a local college.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that all teaching should be learner-centred so learning is enjoyable and effective. Teaching should be individually tailored to each learner, whose needs should always come first.I aim to help learners overcome their fear of maths and build up confidence by patience and quiet encouragement.

Personal Description:
Teaching is part of my life, which I really enjoy!

My teaching career started in 1985 in São Paulo city, and after some years I received a new challenge in a beautiful coastal location. Two schools invited me to teach and I accepted.

Teaching Experience:

Then I had opportunity to improve my career, teaching different subjects like ICT, Statistic, Accounts and Portuguese. Also I helped other teachers to develop ways to improve their classes using modern technology, bringing a new face to the lessons.

A further challenge arrived in my life in 2011 and made me move once again and now I am living in the UK, and I wish to continue my teaching to help you to learn Brazilian or European Portuguese.

So, no matter what your goals, travel, business, educational proposal or simply to learn a language, we can work together to achieve them. I have my own material for all levels, ages and needs.

Tutoring Approach:

A 30 minutes FREE trial lesson is a good way to have a taste!

In a very dynamic class, we talk about music, art, nature, hints & tips that I believe help to build your confident. In a balanced mix of conversation, grammar, exercise, video and books, you will achieve your target.

Tuition can be Face2Face or online via Skype

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Christiane and I am German. I have been living in the UK for the last 6 years. I am a very reliable and approachable, but professional and trustworthy at the same time. I am always honest and work very hard to achieve my targets. I am sure I can help you to achieve the results that you were looking for and with my support, learning German or English will be just a positive and enjoyable experience.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Teaching Experience:

I have been giving German lessons to students of any age for 5 years. My students are normally preparing university exams, GSCE, business people or simply people who enjoy to learn the language in order to be independent and confident when traveling to Germany.

Teaching English is something I also very enjoy. My students are normally people who want to live here for a few years or even for the rest of their life.

Tutoring Approach:

After initial assessment we will decide together how and how often I will teach you or your children. I make learning fun with games etc.
Motivation is probably the most important factor that educators can target in order to
improve learning. Student motivation is an essential element that is necessary for quality education and as far as I can, I try to adapt the lessons approach according students needs and target to be reached.

Personal Description:
I am an Italian native speaker currently reading for a doctorate in Japanese studies at the University of Oxford. Other than my native language, I can tutor in Japanese (10 years of studying plus highest proficiency certificate), German (12 years), French (4 years) Latin and ancient Greek (5 years respectively).

Given my different background in European as well as in Oriental studies, I am also available to tutor in a wide range of humanistic subjects, from history (western and eastern, classic and contemporary) to literature (English, American, italian, Japanese, German, French and classics). Furthermore, having been a university student, and an aspiring writer for a long time now, I am able to give advice and tutor in writing for school and university, as well as in general structure and grammar, both in English and in the above languages.

Apart from academics, my interests are cinema, books, comics, comedy, drawing, painting and sports. If you share my interests, or have other, it will be fun to talk about them in our classes.

Teaching Experience:

In the academic year 2011-2012, I taught and tutored in Italian at Smith College, Massachusetts, to advanced students and first-years. I tailored the lessons to the students' specific needs and any questions they might have. I also organised conversation groups with the first-years as well as introducing specific aspects of Italian culture, such as songs, food, and historical representations.

At Smith, I was responsible for privately tutoring Professor Susan Etheredge generally in the Italian language, as well as assisting her with written formal reports she would need for academic presentations in front of an Italian audience.

I have taught a variety of languages in different countries and settings. I have privately taught Italian, English and Japanese from 2003 to high-school and university students, and people with casual interest and different levels of knowledge.

I also tutor and give advice in academic writing and professional writing to university students in English and Italian.

Tutoring Approach:

Languages are multi-faceted living things that evolve constantly. That is why, in my lessons, I want to be as flexible and tailor the approach to the tutee's needs. Given that grammar is a fundamental aspect of the language, I would like to present it not as a boring, monolithic block that needs to be remembered mechanically, but instead as a tool with which a person can say in another language whatever he says in his/her own native one. We can tell the same English jokes in Italian, and talk about our favourite German book in Japanese. The language is out there for us to use it.

I would craft my lessons so to give students a solid background in the structure and grammar of the language (or history, literature, etc.) and then move on to the tutee's field of interest to expand vocabulary and mastery of the structure. That is because I believe that it is easier, and more fun, to learn about the things we like, rather than being stuck with sources that do not awaken our interest.

Also, since any language is the mirror of a people, it will be interesting to integrate the lessons with news and discussions about the cultural aspects (movies, music, history, food, sports and the like) that are expressed in that particular language.

My interests include: triathlons, cycling, walking, breakfasting, swimming and blogging.

I provide one-to-one tuition in GCSE English Language & Literature, A Level English Language & Literature. I specialise in examination preparation at all levels.

The best thing about tutoring is seeing students gain in confidence as their ability grows. One-to-one tuition enables students to address problems that may be difficult to discuss in a group.

Personal Description:
I was born and grew up in France, attending French schools throughout my lower education. Both parents being British I am therefore fully bilingual in French and English. This early learning has given me a natural ability and passion for languages which is why I opted to study German and Spanish up to Baccalaureate level. I also lived in Germany for part of my education and, upon returning to France, undertook advanced studies in German, leading me to obtain a German Abitur as well as a French Baccalauréat. I moved to the UK to study Architecture at the University of Bath, the degree level of which I have now completed.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored struggling students in Maths and Physics at GSCE and A-level, whilst always having been available to help friends in France with their English and German homework. During my time as an undergraduate, I also supported students who were studying towards a degree in French.

Tutoring Approach:

There is no single approach which will work with everybody so I am committed to finding out what works best for you! However we choose to go forward, I will always aim to make it fun and enjoyable, and make sure there is progress every session.
