Tutoring Approach:

As a personal tutor I help learners to unlock their full potential. The environment of a large classroom often hinders results and limits development. I find that different approaches and environments improve results and increase enthusiasm to learn and the ability to work independently.
I aim to tailor tuition for the individual learner. At the intial session we agree a plan of action based on the learner's needs. We continue to review this plan as needs change. The tuition is intended to support study at school or college or individual study (eg distance learning courses). Sessions are informal but focussed and enjoyable. I set homework if required but prefer to concentrate on understanding and practice within the session.

Personal Description:
I have completed PhD in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Manchester. I offer assistance to degree students in assignments and dissertations. I also offer home tuitions for GCSE and A level students. Currently I am teaching at the University of Manchester to engineering students.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught as Lecturer at under-grad level in the department of mechanical engineering, UET Lahore for almost three years. In January 2007, I joined the department, as Lab Engineer and then promoted to the position of Lecturer after completing Master's degree in 2009. The university and the department claim top position in national ranking and also enjoy the honour of being the biggest and oldest ones in the country. My career of about two years here was full of struggle and effort for excellence in teaching and research.
In addition to that I have have given tuitions as Home Tutor to GCSE and O/A level individuals and small groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I always have the highest expectations of pupils and always have had, even when it was fashionable for learning to be more "child centred"; this is an approach I have found to pay rich dividends in terms of a pupil's academic and personal development. I have always managed to maintain friendly and relaxed environment tailored exactly to what the students requires. Above all I can offer general education and career advice when it matters the most and have observed that my students usually make fast progress towards their goals and good outputs.

Personal Description:
If taught correctly ANYONE can become fluent in the language of Mathematics. Whether if my tuition will prepare you for your examinations, improve your current predicted grades or simply build your confidence in class, my approach to tutoring is to break down comprehensive challenges step by step.

The UK's academic reputation is renowned globally and the current competition is brutal. No longer can a student rely on just good grades as the exceptional is newly defined amongst the growing multicultural faces of our country. The dreaded exam period is beyond stressful but with the empathy of a tutor utilised with careful time management any academic goal can be achieved.

I obtained my Bachelor of Medical Engineering at Queen Mary University of London. Such a multidisciplinary faculty yields a dynamic knowledge of the applied sciences and how we can sustain our modern world. With an efficient outlook from the study of engineering, in combination with my work in tutoring and mentoring, moulds my teaching ethos to be compassionate as well as disciplined.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching is a skill that is built with time and my experiences have challenged a wide spectrum of ages. Establishing a common ground is essential and I am proud in my ability to engage young students as presentable maturity is so repeatedly demanded. I have gradually built a memorable list of students throughout the 4 years of my tutoring endeavour. In particular cases, I taught a year 13 student from previously obtaining a D to passing with an A in his 2012 Edexcel A-level, guided a GCSE retake student from a C to an A and assisted a year 13 BTEC student to pass a GCSE re-sit from having been absent for 2 years without studying the subject.

Currently, I am working with a year 10 student who is steadily improving to a balanced A, an over-achieving year 4 student to apply for grammar school by the academic year 2016/17 and a bright inquisitive year 2 student who will take on her KS1 SATs by July 2014.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning can be a difficult process but by providing the application of logic a student can naturally develop a context for their own success. I tell all my students, `the only requirement in order for you to achieve something is the need.` And often a student knows where they require help but seldom have the confidence to ask.

With regards to long-term planned tutorial sessions, personal schedules can change over time. As long as the time of notification is within reason then I will always be happy to accommodate and re-arrange appointments whenever it is required.

Personal Description:
I am a native Spanish speaking lawyer and notary public, having qualified and practiced in Costa Rica. I'm now a British citizen and have lived and worked in various countries both in the legal and teaching fields for a number of years.

I am friendly, outgoing and a very approachable person. I enjoy working with people of all ages; I also like cooking, dancing (especially salsa and reggae) and languages (English, Spanish, Italian and currently studying French). I love travelling, spending time with family and friends and meeting new people. I also have an adorable 3 year old son.

I believe that it's never too late to learn a new language, and with the right teaching approach and guidance both the young and the more mature students can learn to speak Spanish with confidence.

I would love to help you with the challenge of learning Spanish as I think it can enrich your life tremendously giving you the opportunity to experience new cultures and broaden your horizons.

Teaching Experience:

When I was a law student in Costa Rica I taught English to children in private weekend classes in a public school. For 5 years while overseas I taught Spanish to a number of adult students on a one to one basis. I have also acted as an official Spanish language interpreter and translator to the British Government overseas for 2 years. More recently, 2 years private tuition in London before relocating to Birmingham.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a professional and friendly approach and tailor lessons to meet the particular needs and pace of each student.

Given that these lessons are in your spare time, I try to make them as enjoyable and fun as possible. We will not only just discuss the weather, but practical topics that will be useful in day to day life and conversation will also be included - everything from showbiz gossip, football to politics or any other topic you wish to talk about.

- Going on holiday? You'll soon be ordering those other tasty specialities on the menu that are not just egg and chips.

- Do you have a school project or homework? I can help with that too.

- Want to improve your fluency? Let's get started.

Hasta pronto.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated from the University of Warwick with a B.A. in politics. I have an excellent academic record; I received firsts in three of the eight modules that made up my degree, my second year work was praised for its excellence by the examinations board and my contributions to seminars were praised by lecturers. Prior to this I completed A-levels in economics, history and politics (all at grade A) at Pate's Grammar School. I have a comprehensive knowledge of and passion for the subject area; I have had work experience with the BBC's Sunday Politics and am the author the "Young Citizens Agenda for the UK".

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience assisting younger family members with GCSE and A-level work. I was the person to come to at school for A-level politics advice.

Tutoring Approach:

I will work to understand the specific needs of the individual tutee. This will involve closely examining the syllabus of the specific course which they are undertaking set against what they need to do to produce work that will get into the better grade boundaries. This will require working with the tutee to understand their own learning style so they are able to do this. But most importantly I hope to generate an genuine enthusiasm for politics and current affairs.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of world-class university King's College London with a BA English Language and Communication degree, I previously attended Bolton School Girls' Division - a leading independent day school.

Throughout my education I have achieved top grades and have often been praised for my high attainment. Having been moved up a year I am a year ahead of my schooling, and thus started university aged 17.

I also sat Year 6 Key Stage 2 SATs at the same time as my Year 2 Key Stage 1 SATs when I was 7 years old, achieving three Level 4s (the average grade expected of an 11 year old). I have since gained outstanding GCSE results (8 A*s and 3 As) and A Level results (3 A*s) which demonstrates my academic aptitude and therefore my ability to tutor to a high standard.

I am passionate to share my knowledge with others and take great pride in providing interesting, interactive and thorough lessons for my tutees.

From my previous tutoring I am very familiar with the national curriculum for all levels and am fully trained and CRB checked to work with younger pupils.

I have been awarded several prizes for my passion and dedication to tutoring including a Certificate in Leading Educational Impact, Certificate in Leading Community Development, KCL Half-Laurel, KCL Silver Crown and Team Up Rising Leaders Award.

Teaching Experience:

Primary
I have previously worked with primary school children from ages 4 - 6 helping them with reading, writing and storytelling.

KS3
I have tutored several KS3 pupils ages 11-13 in the past in both English and Mathematics.

GCSE & A Level
I have spent the past year volunteering tutoring English to GCSE pupils and English Literature/exam technique to A-Level pupils, in deprived areas of London through the "TeamUp" scheme.

I have returned to my secondary school on several occasions running workshops for Year 11 and Year 13 students on several aspects of English so I am well practiced at working with students of all ages.

Tutoring Approach:

As mentioned above my approach to tutoring focuses on interesting, interactive and thorough lessons.

I am highly responsive to a tutees preferences and needs.

I strive to seek out interesting teaching materials that are relevant to students, for example I have been praised on several occasions by my current year ten students for bringing in newspaper articles about the Olympics and charity pamphlets when we were working on "writing to inform" and "writing to persuade" as these were topics they were interested in.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated with Merit in MSc Sport Management from Coventry University. I am French and I offer to my students a different approach to the French Language as well as learning of the Francophone cultures. I am serious, motivated and I have experience in tutoring. I am available everyday and weekends.

Teaching Experience:

Last year, I worked during 5 months as a French Language assistant at Bangor University. My role was to improve oral and aural skills of the students, while broadening their understanding of French and Francophone cultures. I have led the different classes by myself and reported regularly my work to the Head of the French section. I had to be proactive and creative, as I have to prepare each class with different exercises as well as being responsible and meeting deadlines following the programme of the students.

Tutoring Approach:

My purpose as a tutor is to allow to my students to be confident when they speak French. It is not easy to learn a new language or even if you have some basics of the language sometimes you are afraid to talk because you think you will make mistakes. It is normal to make mistakes. I have learnt English as a second language so I know exactly how someone who learns a new language can feel as well as what is the best ways to learn it. The most important thing is that the learning has to be entertaining. It is the easiest way to keep the vocabulary in mind and allow to the person to be confident. Videos, movies, one to one conversation lessons about all kind of subjects are as important as translations and grammar exercises.

Personal Description:
I am a 24 year doctoral researcher working in the department of Physics at Lancaster University. I'm currently working for a Ph.D in nanoscience where I study materials and devices on a nano metre scale (1/1000 the width of a human hair). Outside of academia I retain an interest in science and technology and keep up to date with most current scientific issues. I'm also a keen football player playing 1/2 times a week at the university.

Teaching Experience:

I have had experience in teaching KS3 through to A-levels in Maths and Physics through the student assosciates scheme (SAS). Whilst working in the SAS I undertook 3 days of teacher training followed by a total of 3 weeks teaching at Lancaster girls grammar school. During this time I spent time planning and executing lessons as well as going through problems with individuals or groups of students.

I have also supervised work experience for a Year 10 pupil here at Lancaster for a week.

Tutoring Approach:

From experience I find it best to discuss any topics or areas of difficulty with the student at length using real life applications/demonstrations or analogies where possible. From here the best way to gain an intuitive understanding is through practising of set problems and subsequently going over with the tutor.

It is also important for the tutor themselves to know the syllabus and examining body for which the student is enlisted to. This is so that the right material can be taught in a way that links in with other areas. It also be useful to teach topics outside of the syllabus at times.

Personal Description:
Having literature forced upon us by the curriculum from an early age isn't perhaps the best way to endear it to us, but I have always found if those who teach it to us truly love and engage with the subject then this passion will be passed onto students.

I have always enjoyed writing and reading, and it was my love of these seemingly simple activities that led me to study English Literature with Journalism and News Media at university. I gained a scholarship and bursary to go to university, and upon graduation I was awarded the university's program prize for achieving the highest mark in three modules. It was always impressed upon me throughout my life that I must gain the highest grades possible, and throughout my education I have done so. Unfortunately, like many graduates, it's the bit that comes after university that has me left a bit stumped.

I would love to pass on some of the knowledge i've gained from my many late nights studying, and instill some of the passion I feel for this subject into those who perhaps need a little push to reach their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching English abroad - spending a month in Laos working with children of all English speaking levels and abilities. It taught me a lot about how to make learning fun, and provide innovative and different ways to help the kids learn (such as with a sing-a-long or art session). I have also taught basic-to-intermediate level piano lessons to younger children. I am familiar with the current GCSE and A-Level syllabus in English Literature and Language (AQA).

Tutoring Approach:

I will work with you on texts that you are currently studying - teaching you how to do close reading, understanding context, and how to translate this into the framework of an essay. We will work on building confidence in your own writing abilities - looking at grammar, punctuation and spelling, and at how you articulate yourself. We will look at how to compare and contrast two different texts. We will look at different forms of literature, such as plays, novels and poems - and how these affect the reader/audience (us!) We will tackle the best way to structure and write essays; both in terms of coursework and under timed exam conditions. We will look at possible essay questions, and write some ourselves. We will look in depth at the exam board marking criteria and specifications to ensure you understand how you can achieve the best grade possible.

Personal Description:
I am 58 years old and have just retired from teaching after 23 years teaching mathematics. I am married with 3 children and live in the Chorley area. I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1979 with a degree in Construction Management and spent the first 12 years of my working life in the construction industry. I began teaching at Stockport College in 1991 and gained a P.G.C.E. in Secondary Maths shortly afterwards, I started at Oldham Sixth Form College in May 2003.

Teaching Experience:

I taught at Stockport College for 11 years and have just retired from Oldham Sixth Form College after almost 12 years there. I have taught a broad range of maths courses during that time and was course leader for level 2 maths at O.S.F.C. for 8 years before my retirement. I have taught G.C.S.E maths for many years and have considerable experience teaching C1, C2 C3, C4 S1, S2 and D1 as part of A' level mathematics. I am familiar with both the Edexcel and AQA Gcse and A level specifications.
I have been an examiner for AQA at G.C.S.E. and am currently an examiner for Edexcel marking C1 and C3, I have therefore lots of exam board experience and have many tips for maximising marks to pass on.

Tutoring Approach:

I pride myself on my friendly and personable approach to tutoring endeavouring to remove the impression that maths is too hard that has grown up in the media in recent times.

Personal Description:
My name is Dora, I am 19 years old and am based in Newquay, Cornwall. I've been registered blind since birth, but I don't let this stand in the way of my goals. I have come here to study A-levels at Truro College in order to earn a degree in English language and literature from a British university, ideally one of the more prestigious universities.
Teaching is something I have always been passionate about. Besides the two languages listed above, I can also offer Hungarian, as I am originally from Hungary. Growing up with three languages, I gained native fluency in English, Hungarian and GErman, and speak all three with native accents.
I have just graduated from a grammar school for the German nationality in Hungary, where various subjects, including history, geography and even maths, were taught in German, we even studied German literature.

Whether you are a complete beginner or wishing to brush up on your skills, I can assist you in all areas of language learning, with a particular focus on speaking, pronunciation, and accent reduction. I am also happy to help you prepare for your German GCSE, A-Level or other qualifications and exams. If you're a foreigner working/studying in England, I'd be more than happy to help you with every aspect of the English language.

Teaching Experience:

Despite my young age, I have plenty of experience teaching languages at all levels, both online and in person. Whilst at school, I would help out fellow students with their homework, I even tutored my former teacher's twelve-year-old daughter. I also have two brothers, who I used to help a lot.

Tutoring Approach:

Unlike so many language teachers, I believe that while mastering any language does indeed take a lot of effort and determination, it is certainly possible to learn to speak like a native speaker. Furthermore, truly acquiring a language takes way more than studying a grammar book or memorising words for vocabulary tests, therefore I will never expect my students to memorise a certain number of words/grammar rules for lessons, since all that does is add unnecessary pressure and stress to pupils, and, let's face it, make them hate languages. That being said, I am more than happy to prepare you for tests and exams, but I will do it in a fun way and make sure you do not forget everything after your test/exam.

I will never judge you for making mistakes or needing help with a particular word/phrase, nor will I ever emphasise how what you have just said is so and so wrong. Instead, I will immediately show you what you should have said and give an explanation if needed.
Feel free to ask me for help with homework. Whilst I certainly won't do it for you, I will give you all the help you need to do it yourself.

I also believe that everyone should have the right to learn a language, so I am willing to adjust prices where necessary.
