Personal Description:
I was born and grew up in Novosibirsk, Russia, where I got my Degree in Teaching and taught English at different levels at various educational institutions.

In 2000, I moved to Britain, and continue my teaching career which includes Russian tuition.

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching English as a foreign language at different levels since 1984 (both in Russia and UK) and Russian since 2003 (UK). I worked as a Russian tutor for the Community Education Department at Brooklands College, Weybridge.
After completing a Cambridge CELTA course, I was offered a position at the college, where I taught English to groups of international students (general English, IELTS preparation, and summer school). I also worked at ESOL Skills for Life courses.
I'm currently teaching privately, both Russian and English.
As well as teaching live in person, I provide individual tuition online via Skype, e-mail or text/voice chat.

Tutoring Approach:

Throughout my teaching career I have always tried to adjust my teaching style and methods to the learners' individual needs and circumstances, my priorities being high professionalism and reliability. As a dedicated teacher, I never stop learning and developing my professional skills, which allows me to offer my students the best in modern teaching methods.

Personal Description:
I am an independent tutor with a strong scientific background and have lived in England since Aug 1965. Most of my school and college education took place in Dudley (West Midlands) and I studied Biochemistry, at Leeds University (1975-8). I am married and have lived in Cheshire since Dec 1978. We have a son and a daughter; both graduated from Universities in Manchester. Following my voluntary redundancy from AstraZeneca, (Jun 2008), I am now a self-employed Tutor / Consultant. In addition, I am able to speak additional languages (Punjabi; studied up to GCE A-level and Hindi) and prepared to travel up to 5 miles. I have been tutoring Yr 7 - 13 students, in Maths and all Science subjects, since Oct 2008. In addition, I have prepared students from Yr 6, for the 11+ exams; frequently used by private schools, as entrance exams. Testimonials / References (from Students and Parents) are available, on request.

Teaching Experience:

During my long service in the Pharma industry (~30 years), I have run many short courses and workshops. During 2005/6, I mentored a pupil (Year 10/11) at St. Peter's High School, Longsight, organised by the University of Manchester. In the past, I have also been responsible for organising and running the weekly classes at the Sikh Temple (Gurdwara), for teaching youngsters the Sikh way of life & Punjabi culture, in helping to improve their knowledge and integration into the Western Society over a period of ten years.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide tuition to individual students (or small groups) in the form of friendly, relaxed lessons. Teaching sessions are always customised to meet the specific requirement of the students. Generally, I enjoy teaching and considered to have a caring approach. I use a combination of computer and 'white board' based approach, for creating informal interactive / discussion type sessions, with some form of regular tests and re-cap sessions. Closer to the exams, the lessons are much more focused on using past papers covering a wide range of questions, to enable the students increase their confidence in preparation for the examinations.

Personal Description:
Hi! I am Ana, a 23 years old Spanish girl currently looking for job in London.

I have a degree in human nutrition and dietetics, the Proficiency English Cambridge certificates and an 120 hours advance TEFL certificate. This summer I attended a course in the renown University of Nebrija to form people to teach Spanish as a second language and it was fascinating.

I love music, art, health science, English language, meeting people, reading, cycling and travelling.

My mother is a teacher and I have always liked helping my classmates with any doubts they had, so it would be my absolute pleasure to share my knowledge with who ever needs it.

Teaching Experience:

I taught English to children when I was in the university in Spain, and as an au pair I always try to teach my children anything I can, from art or music to reading, writing or helping with homework.

Tutoring Approach:

It depends a lot on the age as well as the subject. So basically we will talk it trough and try to work which ever way suits both of us the best.

Personal Description:
Hi there, my name is Kirsty and I am a first year BA (Hons) English student at the University of Chichester.

English has been my favourite subject ever since primary school, and after my graduation I am planning on completing a PGCE in Education in order to teach at secondary level. For this reason, tutoring would be both a rewarding and valuable experience for me in terms of enhancing my application.

Teaching Experience:

I enjoy working with children and young adults, and have been volunteering with a local Guide group for the past year. This semester I have also ran a small 'Introduction to Grammar' session for those on my course with no previous experience of A Level English Language. I am proud to say that all my 'students' passed their exam that term with flying colours!

Tutoring Approach:

Approaching complex ideas in fun, kinesthic and memorable ways: emphasis on placing ideas within a context the pupils can relate to in order to visualise examples in the world around them. Use of PowerPoint presentations, flash cards, mind maps, audio and visual aids, look/cover/write/check activities, for instance. Developing a close rapport with the pupils through showing an interest in the pupil's own opinion of the subjects covered; exploring their concerns and difficulties so that problems can be solved quickly before motivation drops.

Personal Description:
Experienced lecturer teaching students at a variety of levels, including tutoring individually, in small groups, as well as in larger groups.

My teaching style is supportive and flexible. I focus on examination preparation but at the same time help students to understand maths and see its practical value. It is quite common for students who struggle with maths to lack confidence and so a very important part of my approach aims at remedying that.

I hold an honours degree in Physics from Imperial College London, and an MSc in Computing from the OU.

Teaching Experience:

20 years as a lecturer in software development (maths applications).

3 years' tutoring maths at KS3/GCSE and 'A' level.

Prior to teaching I worked in hi-tech industry in scientific roles.

Tutoring Approach:

Normally I maintain a clear focus on examination preparation using exercises and past papers where appropriate. Where gaps in a students understanding or skills become evident I:

- ensure the student understands the concepts
- provide summaries of what they need to learn
- provide, and give feedback on, practice exercises to develop "fluency"
- and finally, help the student to understand the value and context of the skill

I ask that my tutees do a modest amount of homework.

Personal Description:
I am a very enthusiastic and dynamic spanish native girl who wants to help you to learn and to improve my language.

I will introduce myself. I am a Spanish teacher who has studied administration and business management in Spain while I worked as a tutor at a private teaching academy. I came to England in order to practice and improve my English and I am living here since ten months ago.

I consider myself like a very kind, responsible and hard-working person thinking about communication as one of the most important things in the life. Is for this reason why I enjoy teaching and I love languages. So I think you can learn Spanish in a fun, relaxed and friendly way.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a tutor for primary and secondary school for five years at a private academy in Santander ( northern Spain ) teaching Spanish language ( literature and grammar ), English and French, as well as the others subjects in wich pupils had doubts.
Also, I have been working as Spanish teacher in England for ten months. I have experience teaching ALevels (AS and A2) and I“ve worked a lot with the topics "media, popular culture, healthy living/lifestyle, family, relationships, environment, the multicultural society, contemporary social issues".

I have studied my degree in business management at the University of Cantabria ( Spain ). Furthermore, I have my Cambridge English certificates completed in Warwickshire College.

Tutoring Approach:

Having the ability to communicate in another language that is different from yours, is my goal. Spanish language is getting more and more territory around the world and, in my opinion, the best way to learn is with a native.

Due to attending English and French class, I can put myself in a student“s position and bear in mind those activities or exercises that are interesting learning a language, for those which are not. I want my pupils to enjoy learning Spanish, making the lessons are enjoyable and fun feeling how it improves every day.

Personal Description:
After school and university (where I read English literature & philosophy) I worked for a television production company as a researcher, before applying to drama school.

Like many tutors, I am an actor and tutoring is one of the various jobs I do to supplement my acting career, and the one that I find most rewarding.

Teaching Experience:

As well as English, I also tutor elocution & accents, give guitar lessons, and I do one-to-one role-play tuition for medical students preparing for their clinical exams.

Besides individual lessons, I have run public speaking workshops and taught classes for Italian teenagers learning English.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to get straight to the specific needs of each pupil and adapt my lessons as closely as possible to that individual student. I also attempt to cut through the jargon of assessment objectives, technical terms and exam rubric and explain in plain language what is required and ensure that my pupils understand.

Studying English & philosophy taught me to think critically and express myself clearly, which is essential when assessing a pupil's ability and helping them to grasp ideas. I find that my training as an actor, with a concentration on listening and responding has allowed me to be very adaptable and aware of what a pupil needs.
