Teaching Experience:

For the last 12 years I have been working with young people at schools, colleges and training centres as a classroom teacher or one-to-one tutor. I was teaching wide range of students with different age (7 - 18 years old and adults) and abilities (top sets, bottom sets SEN). I was helping them to improve their grades/level and confidence in Maths. I also prepared students for their GCSE (Foundation and Higher).

Prior to entering the teaching profession I worked as a Teaching Assistant in EAL Department (English as a Additional Language) helping students to improve their reading and writing skills.

Recently I have been working in Further Education, teaching Functional Skills Maths. I was helping young people (16-24 years old) and adults to pass Maths exam and complete Apprenticeship programme.

Tutoring Approach:

For the last few years I was tutoring primary and secondary students on a one-to-one basis and I enjoyed it very much. In my opinion 1-2-1 tuition is a rewarding alternative to the classroom teaching. It enables teachers to focus on individual student and his/her needs. It improves students' confidence and helps them to make progress and gives satisfaction to the teacher - it enables us to make a real difference. This is why I teach on one-to-one basis.

I am very patient person and I always try to identify strengths and areas of weakness and help students to improve it. I work with my tutees at their individual pace and help them achieve thier targets. My lessons are conducted in a nice atmosphere at my home in Barking, however I may consider travelling to a student's home, if it's in an area.

Due to the large number of students that i help i am not able to travel to children any longer so children come to my home for tuition but only in special circumstances do i travel to a child's home on Sundays . I normally teach the children for an hour and then give them homework for further skill practice. I also help children and parents draw up a reading and learning timetable which is very easy to follow, this has proven to be very effective in the past, in helping children become independent learners. My approach is to be friendly but professional and help children relax in order to enjoy learning.

I am 28 years old and have just finished my fifth year of teaching. The first four of those years were in a successful Birmingham grammar school and have just completed my first year at one of Bath's top school. My own education was received at a mixed comprehensive school in Wiltshire, after which I attended the University of Birmingham where I studied mathematics. I have recently moved back to the area after eight years in Birmingham, living with my wife and 4 year old labrador. Amongst other interests, I am always looking to stretch myself and keep my interest in mathematics and education alive by reading literature (particularly by Marcus du Sautoy) and attending seminars by the Association of Teachers of Mathematics (ATM) and other such organisations linked with various universities.

Teaching Experience:

The majority of my teaching so far was at a school within the King Edward VI consortium in Birmingham, teaching boys in KS3 and KS4, the majority of whom have target grades of A/A*. Around 35% of my timetable has been teaching KS5, both years 12 and 13. I have taught C1-4, S1 and M1. I also have experience teaching a range of abilities, from SEN to A/A* students at two co-educational, OFSTED rated outstanding schools in Birmingham. In Moscow I taught expats and their family members Russian as a foreign Language. They were drawn from a wide variety of nationalities and linguistic level. I completed my PhD in History of Art at University College London (UCL) in 2013. I have published my research in a number of academic journals and edited book collections, and I am a practicing artist, currently based in Hulme, Manchester. I am also currently a Junior Research Fellow at University College London's Institute of Advanced Studies.

I'm based in London Monday-Wednesday and can meet students within 10 miles of UCL's Bloomsbury campus (WC1E 6BT) on these days. From Thursday-Sunday I'm based in Hulme, Manchester and can travel up to 20 miles from the city centre, or meet students at my central Manchester art studio. I'm available for Skype appointments at any time.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Art & Design and Photography at KS3, KS4 & KS5. I have 9 years teaching experience, including working as a specialist Learning Support Teacher, and in Special Needs schools catering for children and young adults with a range of special educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities.

I have particular expertise in studio practice (art and design), digital and darkroom photography (theory, history and practice), literacy, social and vocational skills, as well as History of Art, Anthropology and History of Medicine at undergraduate level.

I am also experienced in teaching at undergraduate level, having taught gallery-based first year History of Art courses, for University College London's History of Art Department, and on the History of Art degree programme at the University of Manchester.

I can also provide practical tuition for students who are preparing their art portfolios for University submission, and can offer assistance with UCAS forms and references for students who undertake long-term A Level tuition with me.

Tutoring may take place at the student's home, or at my art studio in central Manchester, where I can provide a range of art materials and resources by prior arrangement, for more intensive practical art sessions. Please note that I can travel within 20 miles of central Manchester based on the fee structure quoted below, travelling further will incur a small additional fuel fee.

I have had recent successes with my private students, one of whom attended one-to-one sessions at my Manchester studio for 8 weeks and improved her predicted GCSE Art result of a B by two grades, achieving an A* in her final art exam. My most recent undergraduate student also attained a First overall in her History of Art degree, achieving a high score of 78 on her dissertation project, with intensive tutorial support conducted via Skype.

I'm well grounded in Finance, Banking, Accountancy and other Business related disciplines, regularly scoring 70+ in core finance subjects as a student. I'm a qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Banker with extensive practical experience in Accountancy, Credit Control, Business Management and Strategy. I have a MBA specialising in Finance and was a meritable student during my time in the University.

Teaching Experience:

Along with my practice experience, I've acquired years of experience in tutoring at GCSE, A levels up to meeting the educational needs of University students. I led student revision classes as an ACCA student and group research with integrated study of multinational corporations as an MBA student.

Since I qualified as a Chartered Accountant, I've helped many ACCA/ICAEW/AAT students towards the path of success in their professional exams. Inclusive of this success stories are University students in business related courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I place emphasis on engaging in intellectual interaction with the pupil as it enables me assess his/her depth of knowledge in the subject I'm tutoring for. It also allows me to define the pattern of analysis to employ to drive home my ideas more effectively as every individual is different in the way their thought process works.

For complex analysis, I draw from my practice experience to substitute complex terminologies and formulas with everyday items/words/events to simplify ideas and make them easily understandable in the preferred terms of the pupil.

Finally, I continuously switch my position and become the student while the student gives back what he's learnt to ensure the knowledge sinks in as intended.
