Personal Description:
I am a postgraduate from the University of Leeds with a degree in Translation Studies with French. I have a passion for speaking French and I enjoy helping others with theirs. Simple as that really.

Teaching Experience:

Despite my relatively young age I have lots of teaching experience. I have been an English language assistant in France on two occasions, most recent of which was last year. I have worked with people with both adults and children ranging from ages 7 to 40

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is fairly straight-forward, to keep it relaxed and as informal as possible. I believe the best results can be obtained when the student is relaxed and confident, especially with regards to trying to speak a foreign language, as sometimes in a school environment the student lacks the confidence to ask questions. Rest assured, under my tuition your competence in written and spoken French will improve greatly, and hopefully it will be fun!

Personal Description:
I am married with a daughter of 24 and a son of 21. On occasion I help my husband garden for the elderly and disabled. I graduated from Exeter University in 1985. Teaching has always been a vocation rather than a job as I love seeing the 'penny drop'.

Teaching Experience:

In the last 2 Secondary schools I was a Deputy Head of Science and the Professional Tutor for the school. Whilst teaching I covered the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 syllabus. I then had the pleasure of working in the primary sector for 6 years teaching the Key Stage 2 syllabus. Since 2005 I have been tutoring students ranging from 7 years of age to adults. Education Otherwise gave me the opportunity to teach in various homes during the day. I offer day time tutoring to fit the needs of the individual student.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is informal. I believe students learn best when they are at ease and not under pressure. If students are distracted in their own home I offer them tuition in my home. My students marks have improved by 2 grades and in the last 18 months several have jumped up 3 grades leaving students, parents and myself very happy.

Personal Description:
I studied music at Hertford College, Oxford, where I sang as a choral scholar. I now work in music as a conductor, singer, pianist and teacher. I conduct the Harpenden-based Lea Singers and the Solis Ensemble, and sing with the choir of St Albans Cathedral. I am employed as an accompanist by Portland Place School, London, and regularly accompany ABRSM and school music exams.

I am able to teach piano, theory and aural skills. I teach music GCSE and A' Level, either independently or as back-up to school classes.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught piano, theory and musicianship for many years. My experience at Portland Place School has taught me various approaches to working with younger students. My current range of teaching includes children and teenage piano students, GCSE and A' level tuition for various exam boards, and adult musicianship.

I have personal experience of dealing with children with ADHD and related concentration difficulties.

Tutoring Approach:

For piano students I make it a priority to identify what music excites and inspires the student to practise. This way there is always a balance between hard work, a challenge, and enjoyment. I try to be flexible and cater to each student's tastes and needs, always with the background aim of advancing his or her technical ability and musicianship.

Tutoring is especially useful if a student is finding classroom teaching insufficient or unfulfilling. In one-to-one sessions individual problems can be identified and addressed with a more personalized approach than is possible in a classroom environment. For those who are no longer enjoying the subject, I try to reach the source of the disinterest. For those who are wanting a greater challenge than they are currently being offered, I develop exercises to push beyond the constraints of the curriculum. My emphasis is always on developing holistically as a musician.

Personal Description:
I am a well published Stem Cell Scientist at Imperial College London, currently working on regenerative medicine-based solutions for Osteoarthritis. I have over 10 years of experience in the field of biomedical research, biology and chemistry teaching and scientific writing. I have been fascinated with the way human mind works and learn - having tried several teaching techniques with my students here at Imperial College, I am confident that students under my guidance and their hard work usually stay within top 5% of the class.

Teaching Experience:

I have had a number of MSc and MRes students in the past and have had primary, secondary, GCSE and A-level, and college teaching experience in the past. Currently I am supervising a number of GCSEs, A-levels, undergraduates and masters students and lab-based research projects / theses.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student has his / her positives and negatives - I first analyse them and then slowly work on their negative points (with a good push to their confidence levels). Additionally, I believe for understanding any science subject (biology, chemistry or physics), learning fundamentals is extremely important for students to further understand complexity of life (more important if they choose to do biology / biomedical science / medicine / life science). So, my approach has always been understanding things more analytically.

Personal Description:
A final year MEng Automotive Engineering student at the University of Bath. Friendly and relaxed, looking forward to helping others learn and achieve their goals!

Teaching Experience:

I have no teaching experience yet but have three younger siblings and so have been called upon to help with informal tutoring in the past.

Tutoring Approach:

I will start by asking the student (or parents) to identify the areas in which help is required to make sure your requirements and my abilities match. I will then help the student to complete exercises by his or herself and be available if conceptual help is required. In this way, the student will have the necessary support to be able to work his or her way through a subject and build a good understanding of it.

Personal Description:
I'm a 19 year old girl from Hampshire in England and I am currently studying English at the University of Exeter. I have received 7 A*s and 3 as at GCSEs from Court Moor School, Fleet. Also, I have recently received 3 As at A-Level from The Sixth Form College Farnborough in Mathematics, Biology and English Literature. I read quite often as well as play badminton.

Teaching Experience:

I've taught children at Primary Level in my work experience in Farnborough from the ages of 5 to 11. I've also worked briefly at Kumon as a GCSE tutor and am experienced in A Level subjects (due to finishing recently) so I am able to tutor this.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a relaxed yet methodical approach in terms of helping the child learn for themselves. This means that I will often explain from a textbook and/or examples they have and also let them work out answers for themselves. My aims are to make the child feel confident about their work as well as learn the syllabus but not so that they have shallow knowledge. Understanding is key in terms of what I am to provide for the child. I am also willing to help with exam papers.
