Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher of Modern Foreign Languages. I have taught in a school near Wakefield for 8 years and have been a private tutor for five years. I am a very enthusiastic and approachable teacher. I can offer languages teaching in French, Spanish, German, Italian and Japanese. I offer teaching at all levels; primary languages, with a view to possibly taking GCSE examinations early, Key stage 3, GCSE, IGCSE, AS and A2 levels and adult languages classes. I also cover the new GCSE and A-level specifications for exams in 2018. I have experience in all areas of languages teaching and I throughly enjoy teaching languages!

I also work for 3 distance learning schools, as a tutor for French and Spanish. I am Lead Tutor for one school and also carrying out consultancy work for the new A-level exam. I teach students from all over the world which is a real honour.

I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to take the language of their choice. Therefore, I am happy to offer to help students take a GCSE or A level in a language which may not be available in their school. I can help with assessments and speaking tests in addition to a high standard of tuition to learn the language at the desired level and beyond.

I am currently learning Chinese as it has always interested me and as a teacher, I know that I need to remember what it is like to be a language learner!

References are available upon request.

Teaching Experience:

I have a PGCE and QTS qualification in Modern Languages and as part of my studies, I taught in two schools in North Yorkshire. I have been a teacher in a Specialist Language College near Wakefield for 8 years and a private tutor for 2 years. As a teacher in a Specialist Language College, I have taught KS3 and GCSE languages in addition to working in the community, teaching languages at local Primary Schools and carrying out Adult language classes.

For my private tuition, I have taught many A-level students in addition to primary students, GCSE students and adult learners. I have found this to be very interesting to see how people learn in different ways and develop their confidence in learning a new language or gaining extra support for language learning.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I always check to see what level each student is at in the first lesson. All lessons are tailored to the students' needs so you can get the most out of learning a language. I recommend useful resources and I am happy to lend books and DVDs from the extensive range of resources I have built up as a result of tutees' wishes. I have an excellent knowledge of the national curriculum and exam specifications of all the boards and I keep up-to-date with the many changes which may occur in education.

I look at all language skills although I may focus on one or two particular areas if this is what the tutee needs (such as listening and speaking if exams were not to be taken). I use ICT in my lessons and use many different websites and encourage students to use these at home and I help with grammar, even if it is the basics, as an understanding of this is essential to learning a language successfully!

I set homework tasks each week for students and I also offer a 'mid lesson service', where students can Skype or Phone so that I can check on progress or answer any questions. A quick chat in the target language is fine too! This service is free. I am also happy to answer any texts on the language- that is what I'm here for!

All new students are welcome. I always answer all requests so please also check spam folders just in case!
Plase note that there is a slightly cheaper rate for students wanting daytime teaching sessions.
merci, gracias, grazie, danke, arigatou!

Personal Description:
I have just returned from a year as a Graduate music tutor at Wanganui Collegiate School, New Zealand. Before this, I graduated from the University of Oxford in June 2010, having studied Music at Oriel College under the tutorship of Dr. David Maw. I was educated as a music scholar at Eton College, Windsor before moving to the Perse School, Cambridge for sixth form study. Aside of a huge passion and enthusiasm for music study and tuition, I am an avid sportsman having represented both my university and county youth level in cricket. I also played a number of sports for my college during my time at Oriel. Currently, I am studying for a Masters in Musicology at Durham University with a specialism in the orchestral music of Gerald Finzi. In addition, I am also the Senior Organ Scholar at St. John's College. I have recently accepted a teaching post at Brighton College to begin in September 2012.

Teaching Experience:

Having just returned from a year as a graduate music tutor at Wanganui Collegiate School in New Zealand, I feel that I am in touch with both school teaching and more specifically, more private music tuition. During my year experience in New Zealand, I engaged very actively in the life of the music department. I have experience of basic music tuition with teaching of introductory concepts in the subject such as basic notation, theory, instrumentation and historical issues.
Further up the age spectrum, I have taught specific a level modules in a seminar type situation. With a completed Undergraduate Music degree from the University of Oxford, I have an extensive knowledge of theory, analysis, music history and specific tutoring skills in the study of the clarinet, piano and bassoon. I have taught music theory, clarinet and piano privately for 4 years.
This said, I am very happy to tutor at all levels, aiming to pass on my keen enthusiasm in the subject onto other keen and ambitious musicians whether they be starting out in the subject, or looking for extra assistance at A level and/or degree level. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style is designed to generate as much active involvement by the student as possible. Tutoring time is balanced according to the needs of the client between examination coaching (handwriting, mnemonic techniques, time/mark allocation discipline, revision styles) and subject content (probing and consolidating background knowledge, instilling enthusiasm, analysing key aspects of each topic).

In addition, I believe in addressing the needs of each child individually and working with them to help them understand how to work through a problem for themselves. Confidence is often the key and I am keen to work with them to improve the confidence in their own abilities in a varied and fun atmosphere.

Personal Description:
For the last eight years I have been have been teaching geography at KS3, GCSE and A level in north and west London. I am currently employed as a Head of Geography in an Outstanding secondary school in west London.

My personal strengths include excellent lesson planning and creation of resources and vast subject knowledge. This is supported by my 'outstanding' review in my most recent lesson observation. I also work As an examiner giving me a greater understanding of the exam board requirements in order to best support the students that I work with, I have used these skills to help students achieve outstanding grades for their controlled assessments and help students become more self-motivated and prepared for later life.

Teaching Experience:

Secondary Head of Geography (Sept 2009 - present)
I am currently employed as a Head of Geography in an outstanding comprehensive school in West London.

Examiner
I have marked GCSE geography papers for Edexcel for the past 4 years

Private Tutor (2009-2011)
I have tutored a number of students in both Geography and Maths and helped them to achieve results that exceeded their expectations.

EFL Teacher (2007-2008)
After completing my undergraduate I took a CELTA course to teach English as a foreign language. I lived in Vietnam for a year where I was employed as a full-time EFL teacher. I taught young learners between the ages of 6 and 18. These were further broken up into 3 different age groups and 7 different ability levels. I have also taught English to adults at a number of summer schools.

Tutoring Approach:

I think that it is really important to plan the tuition sessions to fit the needs of my individual student and I am committed the achievement of every student that I tutor. Working as a teacher in a 11-18 Secondary School means that I have access to a wealth of teaching resources and I am constantly learning new techniques to bring the best out of my students. I also work as an examiner for the Edexcel exam board with gives me a valuable insight into the exam expectation. I have been particularly successful when using past papers to help identify areas for improvement and I use a range of strategies to improve exam technique so that students are able to achieve to their full potential. My most recent turee achieved an A* in his geography GCSE which was a significant boost from his school's predicted target of a C grade. He has also chosen to continue his studies to A level after developing a love for the subject.

Personal Description:
Former business journalist, Sky News editor, international conference producer in Moscow, Russian-English interpreter and now teacher & private tutor. Russian and French degree from UCL with teacher training (Kingston University) experience in French, Spanish and Latin (ages 11-18)). I also specialise in numeracy and literacy, helping young children and adults gain an A-C grade in their GCSEs.
I love working with children (I have students as young as 7) and adults alike and have plenty of materials, worksheets and textbooks for languages as well as mathematics and English as a Foreign Language/TOEIC/Citizenship tests
(PS: I have a great talent for working with children or adults who find it difficult to concentrate and showing them how to not only learn but also REMEMBER :D)

Teaching Experience:

Many years as an English teacher to foreign children, students and Russian businessmen and two years in a secondary school teaching modern languages to children aged 11-18. I have a great record of working with children who have ADD, ADHD, Autism, Aspberger's and other learning "difficulties" (I like to call them learning differences:-)) Due to my ability to get "difficult" children to enjoy their lessons by learning their way, I was asked by my school to work with Year 11 children in the school"s EBD unit one-on-one in order to ensure they get an A-C grade in their GCSE English and maths exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Although very serious and focused on results, I do understand that everyone has their own approach to learning and my best skill is in introducing a range of learning techniques and study skills (some of them are even fun ;-)) to the student that they can use across all subjects! I have a special talent for working with a different range of students, especially those who are very bright/intelligent but who have difficulty retaining/remembering information

Personal Description:
Hello there! My name is Tanyel and I am an undergraduate student at King's College London. I study BA French and Management and will be entering my second year in September.

I am available to tutor over the summer 2013 starting immediately, with a possibility of continuing this for when I am back at university.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide range of tutoring experience. This originated from when I was in Sixth Form and developed a knack for explaining things to my classmates and friends. Since then, my enjoyment in tutoring has led me to be involved in two tutoring projects. This is both privately in my local area and also voluntarily, the latter being with my university and an organisation called Team Up ().

Tutoring Approach:

We would work through a main textbook (CGP range seems to work best) and I provide explanations in a clearer, more interactive manner to clarify understanding. I then set homework tasks based on what we have learnt. I can connect with all my students on a friendly level in this way, pausing to answer any questions, whilst ensuring progression and focus at all times. I have seen this approach work countless times in my experience. In some cases, students enjoy it so much they ask me to set them even more homework!

Personal Description:
I have been studying a Product Desin course for the last 2 years, I am now transferring to do a BA in Secondary School Mathematics, and after 2 years of that I will be a qualified and working maths teacher.
I am currently taking a gap year to prepare for my studies, this has given me the oppertunity to get hands on with my teaching, and do as much maths tutoring as possible.
Mathematics has always been a passion of mine and as my ability has progressed, I've taken the oppertunity to teach Common Entrance, GCSE and A level students to prepare them for their upcoming exams. Over my years of providing maths tuition I have gained plenty of knowledge, experience, and fulfillment in what I do.
I am happy to provide tuition over skype and I will charge less for that.
Face to face will be a lot more progressive, I'm happy to travel but depending on the distance I may charge extra to cover the cost of fuel.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching became a passion of mine from a young age, I was involved with CCF (cadet force) for five years and teaching the younger cadets became an import role for me.
Since then I have been doing teaching observation in different schools and working with children aged 5 to 11 on holiday camps.
I have been providing one to one, or group tuition since the age of 17. At first I worked as an assistant for group tuition sessions during holiday periods. Now my role in these group sessions is to give 1 or 2 students extra attention, or cover for the leading tutor if he is not there. This year I have been able to carry out plenty of 1 to 1 tuition, as an indepent tutor. Every one of my students so far have achieved the grades they where hoping for, or better. Some students where predicted as low as an E at school, and achieved A grades in there exams after doing private tuition with me. From this, I truly believe that every student deseveres as much 1 to 1 attention that they can get.

Tutoring Approach:

As an experienced tutor, I have gained a range of personal teaching methods. My first aim is to understand the level and ability of my student, and figure out exactly where and what there learning difficulties are. Every student learns in there own way, especially for a subject like mathematics and therefore it is essential for me to find out how the student is progressing and to cater to there needs.
Throughout my sessions I challange my students with questions that they are likley to see in there upcoming exam. I encourage them to identify the problem infront of them, and then use there own method to overcome it. This may be a method I have taught them, but it must be a method that works for them.
If my students have little or no understanding of a certain topic, I have plenty of pre prepared lessons, and I will be very enthussiastic to teach them something new.
I often set homework based on the topics covered in the lesson. Usually 30 mins max of practice for them to do later that evening to refresh there memory on what they have learnt.

Personal Description:
I am a thirty-four year old father of one, with a first class History degree (BA Hons) from the University of Oxford and a Masters in Print Journalism from the University of Sheffield (Distinction).

I offer bespoke one-to-one tuition in and around Sheffield. I specialise in tutoring History at A-Level and GCSE but I also offer help with university applications and Oxbridge interview/exam prep.

Teaching Experience:

I'm new to professional private tutoring but I have a long track record of personal academic success and have worked informally with several A Level students in the past, all of whom progressed to Oxbridge or other red brick universities. I also have almost ten years experience working with children and young people participating in extra-curricular activities across Sheffield.

Tutoring Approach:

I am approachable, friendly, and patient, but I'm also passionate about History and English. I aim to make learning fun, challenging, and rewarding and believe that enjoying a subject is the key to success. I always aim to bring the subject to life and to help students engage, but I also look to help them work effectively and intelligently so they can make the best of limited time.

Personal Description:
I coach people in revision strategy and preparation for exams, interviews, presentations and other stressful situations. I also help small business owners make sense of the many demands on them, and plan for the future.

I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. In my final exams I was second in the world: over 4000 people sat the exam - I got the second highest mark.

Over three years, I got A's in 10 out of 11 CIMA exams. I am clever, yes, but that performance was also due to my brilliant revision and exam strategy which I developed over several years. I can coach you in that revision strategy, and I believe it will move you up at least one grade in any exam.

My revision strategy is suitable for any academic subject, and can help anyone - from teenagers sitting school exams, to adults taking professional qualifications. The strategy is not subject specific; it is a 12 week approach to preparing for exams. It covers not only revision, but also regular exercise and relaxation techniques.

I have run my own consultancy and training business for over 20 years. As well as exam preparation, I can coach you to prepare for interviews, presentations, important meetings, or any other difficult work situation.

As part of my work, I write online training courses and have also had many articles published and have spoken at conferences across Europe and in the USA. As such I am also able to coach individuals to improve their written and spoken English.

I coach face-to-face or over Skype/ Google Hangouts.

The first meeting is, typically, a one hour planning and getting to know each other session.

Subsequent sessions will be one to two hours once or twice weekly depending on need.

I strongly believe in the power of exercise to help learning and face-to-face sessions will include 20 minutes "walking learning". For online coaching, I leave exercise as homework. I also teach coachees simple self-hypnosis techniques to help consolidate the learning and deal with stress.

Typical interventions are as follows:

- revision and exam preparation strategy: minimum 8 weekly sessions; preferably 12

- interview/ presentation/ meeting preparation: approximately 4 sessions

- small business coaching, twice monthly for 12 months

As a qualified management accountant, I am able to coach students with CIMA exams. I also help pupils with GCSE and Scottish National 5 Maths and Business Studies; and Scottish National 5 Modern Studies.

- CIMA study support: up to 26 weekly sessions depending on need

- GCSE/ National 5 Maths, Business Studies, Modern Studies: up to 30 weekly sessions depending on need

I am married with a 17 year-old daughter and two dogs. We live just north of Glasgow. Where travel time and expenses are covered, I work throughout the UK, Europe and, on occasion, the USA.

Teaching Experience:

I have run my own consultancy and training business for over 20 years. I specialise in lean process improvement and business management for small businesses. I have trained and facilitated improvement teams from a wide range of organisations large and small - they include Boeing, Rolls Royce, NHS England, Lloyds Bank, RBS, and many more.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly relaxed style with a clear agenda. I use a range of techniques to help the client understand the issues they are facing and view it from different angles to identify a range of possible ways forward.

Personal Description:
I am new to Manchester from Hong Kong. I am an enthusiastic, open-minded and dedicated teacher.

Teaching Experience:

Experienced in communicating with children and young people. Lessons can be for preparation for examinations or just for fun.

Tutoring Approach:

Communicating with different people has always been an enjoyable and funny thing for me and I am able to teach pupils in a relaxed and friendly manner. I believe that allowing learners to make mistakes and then guide them to find out the best answer is one of the best ways for them to understand music. When learners feel comfortable, it would be easier for them to enjoy the lessons and make progress naturally.
